The Brazilian energetic matrix is predominantly based on hydroelectric plants and its planning is very sensitive to climate variability in different time scales. Natural Affluent Energy (NAE) is an established planning tool to project different scenarios of possible energy production, especially in an integrated system. However, in general, the works applying ESA to SGs are focused on isolated machines. Thus, this paper presents a study on the condition monitoring of

The main objective of this chapter is to present a hybrid model for bus load forecasting. This approach represents an essential tool for the operation of the electrical power system and the hybrid model combines a bus clustering process and a load forecasting model. As a case study, the model was applied to the real Brazilian electrical system, and the results revealed a performance similar to that of conventional models for bus load forecasting, but about 14 times faster. The results are compatible with the safe operating load levels for the Brazilian electrical power system and have proved to be adequate for use in real operation tasks.

Abstract:
The general Latin American population with a physical disability or limited mobility has faced the daily basis challenge of having autonomy in home activities, with low-income or almost no-income. Needy Brazilian communities are examples of poor populations suffering from the lack of autonomy at home, aggravated by scarce financial resources. The authors developed a low-cost home automation system, aiming to assist people who live in Palmeira dos Indios city and Arapiraca city, needy communities located in the Northeast of Brazil. The system is composed of hardware and software components. The hardware comprises of microcontrollers used to actuate over electrical devices at home, while an Android application provides a simple graphical user interface (GUI) to control the devices using touch and voice commands by Bluetooth communication. They evaluated the system by implementing a home model and providing the home for four physical disability persons and one limited mobility person. They considered the system`s effectiveness, the system`s usability, and users` perceptions during the evaluation.

Abstract:
This concluding chapter examines electric energy arbitration in Brazil. An appropriately developed electric sector is a key element for any country's economic and social growth. It requires an adequate volume of investment, either domestic or foreign, in order to meet the regularly increasing needs of all stakeholders involved in such market, including the population. Brazil's electricity sector is the largest in South America and plays an important role in the country's economy. Moreover, Brazil has its own and well-functioning electricity generation system. To keep up with the development and needs of such a system, the Brazilian legal and regulatory framework has undergone through important changes over the past 25 years or so. A well-established and complex set of rules and regulations is now in place; in this context, arbitration has been steadily introduced as an alternative method to resolve the disputes arising in that sector. The chapter then provides an overview of the electric energy market in Brazil, with some historical milestones and details on the steps taken for its modernization, as well as its current structure. It also analyses how arbitration has now become an important part of this complex system, in which a variety of actors operate at different levels.
