Abstract:
Temperatura. Qualidade da água. Abstract Phosphorus is considered the main factor responsible for eutrophication of lakes and reservoirs. In the present study, a transient complete mixing model was used to analyse phosphorus dynamics in 40 lakes and reservoirs located in the Northeast, Southeast and Central-West regions of Brazil. The results confirmed the dependence of the phosphorus decay coefficient on the inverse of the square root of the hydraulic residence time. However, due to the high-water temperature of the lakes and reservoirs of the Northeast, this coefficient assumed values about two times higher than those observed in regions of tropical climate. On the other hand, due to the high temperature variability of the lakes and reservoirs in the Southeast, the coefficient oscillated between extreme values observed in temperate and semiarid regions. As a result, a general equation was proposed to calculate the phosphorus decay coefficient as a function not only of the hydraulic residence time, but also of the water temperature. After valida- tion and sensitivity analysis of the proposed model, it was applied to a hypothetical reservoir subject to temporal variations of water volume, flow, load and temperature. This simple model will potentially assist in the management of Brazilian lakes and reservoirs. Keywords: Eutrophication. Temperature. Water quality.

Abstract:
The detailed description of rarely recorded Thalassiosira species in Brazil is presented with light microscope (LM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) illustrations. A total of 78 phytoplankton net samples (20 µm) collected between the years 2000 and 2006 in coastal waters of southern Brazilian, Cassino Beach and the estuary of Lagoa dos Patos, were studied in cleaned material using the Axiovert Zeiss LM and Jeol 6060 SEM. Water temperature and salinity of samples and six species are presented: Thalassiosira endoseriata, T. hendeyi, T. lundiana, T. minuscula, T. oceanica and T. wongii. Two species, Thalassiosira hendeyi and T. endoseriata were the most common being observed in all seasons at Cassino Beach in a wide temperature range (10-26 ºC), while only sporadically in the estuary of Lagoa dos Patos. Thalassiosira endoseriata, T. lundiana, T. oceanica and T. wongii are for the first time reported in Brazilian coastal waters. The latter two species, rarely recorded in the world, are fully illustrated based on Brazilian material.

Abstract:
In Brazilian Amazonia, 20 genera and more than 200 species of polistine wasps are recorded. Local faunas with 70 to 80 species are usually found in non floodable forest environments. However, a variety of wetlands exist in the region, the most expressive in surface area being varzea systems. In this paper, information is presented on polistines from two areas of wetlands in the Brazilian states of Amazonas and Amapá. These are reciprocally compared and also with nearby terra firme locations. Collecting methods consisted of active search for nests, handnetting and automatic trapping of individuals. Forty-six species of 15 genera were collected in Mamirauá, AM, most being widespread common wasps. However, five species deserve special mention in virtue of rarity and/or restricted distribution: Metapolybia rufata, Chartergellus nigerrimus, Chartergellus punctatior, Clypearia duckei, and Clypearia weyrauchi. In Região dos Lagos, AP, 31 species of 9 genera were collected, nearly all being common species with the exception of some Polistes, like P. goeldi and P. occipitalis. Even though less rich than vespid faunas from terra firme habitats, the Mamirauá fauna proved to be quite expressive considering limitations imposed by the hydrological regime. In Região dos Lagos, however, the very low diversity found was below the worst expectations. The virtual absence of otherwise common species in environments like tidal varzea forests along Araguari River is truly remarkable. The causes of low diversity are probably related to isolation and relative immaturity of the region, allied to strong degradation of forested habitats.

Abstract:

Abstract:
We studied the holotype and only known specimen of the rodent Calomys anoblepas Winge, 1887, an enigmatic and putatively extinct pentalophodont sigmodontine found in the limestone caves of Lagoa Santa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Comparisons with other sigmodontines suggest that anoblepas can be allocated under the genus Juliomys González, 2000 and probably represents an extinct form within it. Cranial characters that support our generic hypothesis include the combination of an interlacrymal depression behind nasals, anterior portion of interfrontal suture with incomplete fusion, zygomatic plate nearly vertical with almost nonexistent upper free border, anterior border of the mesopterygoid fossa located at the level of third molar hypoflexus, and brachyodont molars with crested coronal topography. Juliomys includes three living species of sylvan and arboreal mice endemic of the Atlantic forests. This genus is absent in contemporaneous rodent assemblage from Lagoa Santa area, suggesting different environmental conditions during Pleistocene deposition times.

Abstract:
Around forty bird species habitually reproduce in the Northern Hemisphere during summer, and migrate to the Southern Hemisphere during northern winter. These migrating birds fly together in large or small groups until they have reached the Caribbean, Central American, or Brazilian shores. Charadrius semipalmatus, Bonaparte 1825, is one of these migrating species that uses resting and feeding areas along eastern and western coasts of North and South America, with several records for the Brazilian coast, and very few for the inland country. On November 24, 2011, an individual of this species was observed on the banks of one of the lakes that compose a complex of about 40 temporary lakes within the Karst of Lagoa Santa Environmental Protection Area. On October 29 and 30, 2012 a single individual of Gelochelidon nilotica, Gmelin 1789, was also observed in Sumidouro State Park. We suggest that these specimens have used the Atlantic Ocean migration route, following the São Francisco River Basin, until the karst area. Although highly impacted, the temporary lakes within the Karst of Lagoa Santa still harbor a significant number of bird species, and serve as resting and feeding places for migratory or errant species that are still eliciting new records.

Abstract:
The Brazilians established in Lagos developed shifting identities which were reshaped in response to the presented contexts throughout the period 1840 to 1900, was the central focus of this thesis. In this regard, I propose to understand the contexts in which the Brazilian from Lagos had to reframe and update the responsible signs for checking identification to the members of their group. For this, I selected a set of documents composed of three types of sources. In order to understand how Brazilians were represented by Anglican and Methodist missionaries, explorers, officers of the Navy and British consuls, I analyzed the travel narratives, reports to the Foreign Office and articles published in magazines kept by scientific associations at the time. The second group of documents corresponds to three newspapers published in Lagos between the years 1881 and 1900, namely: The Lagos Observer, The Lagos Weekly Record and the official journal of the British colonial government, The Government Gazette. Reading these sources revealed important aspects concerning the Brazilian participation in Lagos society in the second half of the nineteenth century. The third compendium of sources consists of annual reports by the colonial administration of the city and gathered under the name of Blue Books. This set of records focus on the most different topics related to the British government based in the city and is an important source of analysis about the way the Brazilians were represented by the colonial government. From these three sets of documents it was possible to see the ways in which the belonging signs which defined the identity of Brazilians were prepared from the contact, exchanges and disputes between the other social components existing in the Lagos of the nineteenth century.

Abstract:
The immigrants of African descent who began arriving in Lagos and Badagry in the early nineteenth century included not only Afro-Brazilians, but also Afro-Cubans, Afro-Americans, Afro- Canadians (freed slaves from Nova Scotia) and Sierra Leonians (Saros). Of these the Afro-Brazilians and the Saros constituted the largest and most dominant groups. The Afro-Brazilians were the descendants of African slaves (mostly from West Africa and Angola) taken to Brazil. They returned to West Africa between the 1820s and 1890s. Collectively, in Nigeria the Afro-Brazilians and the Afro- Cubans were referred to as `Brazilians' or Aguda (Yoruba word for Catholics) probably because the majority of both these groups were Catholics. The Saros were the descendants of Yoruba slaves from southwestern Nigeria. Some of these slaves were on their way to the Americas to be sold but were rescued by the British anti-slavery squadron along the West African coast. They were then resettled in Freetown, Sierra Leone, which was founded in the eighteenth century by an Englishman named Granville Sharp. Other Saros were African slaves (mostly of Yoruba origin) who have been in England since the early seventeenth century. They were repatriated to Sierra Leone after the abolition of slavery in Great Britain. After Lagos was ceded to the British by Oba Dosunmu in 1861, many more Saros were encouraged to return to Yorubaland by the colonial administration. The Saro community lived in the Saro quarter alongside the Afro-Brazilian community in the Brazilian quarter of Lagos. Like the Afro-Brazilians, they also produced a significant genre of architecture and a distinctive creole culture during the nineteenth century. The Saro architectural style was largely based on a combination of the British colonial style and the Yoruba traditional spatial arrangement. Although the Saros contributed immensely to the development of architecture in Lagos, they were not nearly as renowned for their building design and construction skills as the Afro-Brazilians were. This study is concerned primarily with the architecture created by the Afro-Brazilians as distinct from the Saros, whose architecture undoubtedly merits study in its own right.

Abstract:
We have widely discussed, in this written work, about different understanding points of Literature books for children, pointing out the influence of medieval imaginary in Angela Lago\'s masterpiece. In the book Charadas Macabras, we have elicited the presence of the Devil, by the transformation of his spoken words. The oral exercise, in the narrative Sua Alteza A Divinha, was focused under the lights of Bakhtin\'s concepts. The aspects of theses concepts took into consideration the amplifying of the comic and the children\'s entertainment points, which were encapsulated in the tale by the game, (the oral contest). All these points should be understood as a social anthitesis - the popular level put in front of the aristocracy, strong people against weak people - the feminine element against masculine element. All these factors contributed toward the dimensional views of the this book. In researching, \"the study of oral culture\" we discovered it contained espontaneous humor cause by the improvise performances, present in the public square. The public square was a popular place for people to hold their artistic performance. These aspects can be identified in the books Indo Não Sei Aonde Buscar Não Sei O Quê and 10 Adivinhas Picantes. Upon examining the \"tales of a princess\" we found they contain many expertly written riddles. This subject was widely studied by researchers like Adolpho Coelho and Câmara Cascudo, who also empathized the initial purpose of this project - the corroboration of the influence of medieval culture, by Portugal and Brazil, in Angela Lago\'s tales. In conclusion, we have taken the elements that belong to each narrative and inserted them into the sphere of the reader, and particulary, the child reader. The mind of child is known to be most criative and imaginative. It\'s a world where invention, dreams, magic, hapiness and sadness exists.

Abstract:
The present study intends to analyze the short stories from the book Family Ties (Laços de Família), by Clarice Lispector, starting with a language analysis, in the texts, and a general view over the melancholic element, that is an important aspect of the characters construction. After that, an analysis based on literature sociology, including texts by Theodor Adorno and Walter Benjamin, to develop the argumentation, is performed, considering the richness of the studied object, to read Brazilian society in 1950-60. Throught Lispector\'s work, some fundamental social aspects, that had been neglected by hegemonic speech come forth, elements not considered by conventional historical reports, as gender and race prejudice, submission to foreign political influences and the deep social disparities that characterizes the country.

Abstract:
In 1987, all the whole architectural and urbanistic of Brasilia was declared world heritage site by UNESCO. This fact is directly related to the preservation of specific characteristics of the original plan of Lúcio Costa for Brasilia and with the concern with the modifications that the plan was suffering since the inauguration of the city in 1960. The choice adopted of the documentation of preservation was the spatial structure of Brasilia based in the balance between the four scales urban defined in the Relatório do Plano Piloto. The plan that Lucio Costa competed in the tender to choose the plan for the new capital of Brazil in 1957. Therefore, the balance between the scales: monumental, gregária, residencial e bucólica went the guide to fair the mechanisms for protecting the heritage site of Brasilia. Among these, the scale bucólica, by their specific characteristics, was the most suffer since of the inauguration of the city, there were numerous cases of occupations irregulars the responsible for the differences between the current way of the city and the created by Costa in the years from 1950. The fragility of the area - the Paranoá lake and the bucólica scale - is demonstrated by overlapping of the legal devices to preserve, as much as whether environmental protection or the historical and artistic heritage site of Brasilia. In both cases, such laws are intended to provide one characteristic existent in the original proposal, the character of a public orla, for the leisure activities. This character has how biggest obstacle the subsequent privatization of public areas since the inauguration of the city in 1960. Facing this, the present dissertation intends to discuss the legislation that of the area of Paranoá lake, this legislation maybe about the environmental laws or laws of the preservation of the Pilot Plan - Bucólica scale. The objective of this dissertation is to understand how this legal device can work or not for the public ownership of the area, this research provides an overview of the presence of the lake throughout the history. This overview intends to review the presence of the lake since the first ideas of the change of the capital, its transformations over the time and finally the possibilities and impossibilities that the legal devices have of the fair of the orla of the Paranoá lake one place in fact public, turned to leisure activities and accessible to all inhabitants of Brasilia.

Abstract:
This study proposes to historically and socially embed the space of the economists in Brazil, addressing the ties between competing agents in order to establish boundaries and legitimacy principles of their knowledge and practice. The dissertation is dedicated to the study of economy experts who are in transit between the academy, the State, the private sector as well as between national and international spaces, emphasizing the convergence of two resources in accessing prestige and power positions: relationships with people and institutions and specialized credentials. Covering the period from the end of the 1930s to the beginning of 2000, the dissertation shows how the economists\' space has become denser and which configurations and fragmentations prevailed at each point in time. Therefore, in order to emphasize the creation of ties over time, the analysis draws upon the interviews and secondary sources used to draw a network, which are presented at the end of each chapter. Data on social origins as well as professional careers was used to characterize each point of the system, revealing that bonds tend to be created between individuals who are socially similar, caused by structural proximity. The oxymoron \"meritocracy of ties\" features a study in which, despite the progressive appreciation of specialized qualification for the exercise of prestigious roles in economy, the importance of social capital as a route to access power is preserved as fundamental.

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the LongPlay (LP) that consolidated the musician and composer Milton Nascimento as a successfull artist, both of critical and sales: the album Minas (EMI-Odeon, 1975). For structural reasons, essentially musical and poetic, the LP Minas is inseparable of his next album, the LP Geraes (EMI-Odeon, 1976). Together they compose a curious case of a \"double-album,\" whose fundamental structure - as demonstrated throughout this research - is an attempt to put together social and aesthetic structures of different sources. Once the logic or the aesthetic principle, that organizes this set of songs is settled, in other words, the seek for consensus, then, the historical material condensed in the phonograms is investigated. According to the narrative that is established in the course of the tracks, it is verified that a possible meaning for this work of art is the defense of a \"not so modern modernity\". By presenting several references, sometimes explicit, to national history, it is concluded that the mentioned period corresponds to the beginning of the process of Brazilian industrialization.

Abstract:
My purpose in writing this paper is to reflect upon the construction of some female characters from Laços de família, examining, in special, the conflicts they live, the absence of definition to their battles, the contrast between behavior and imagination, in the light of the Theory of the aesthetic effect, by Wolfgang Iser, in face of the emptiness which constitutes Clarice Lispectors narrative. Such conflicts will also be observed in relation to the strong appeals of urbanism in the troubled context of the 20th century, setting in which different feelings between being in the city and living in isolation exacerbate.

Abstract:
The ruler of Dahomey from 1797 (up until possibly 1818) was Adandozan. But his reign has been erased from oral memory and the local tradition. Why this is so, constitutes another mystery in Dahomean history. In any case, his reign and that of his successors saw the official but slow and tortuous disentanglement of the European and American powers from slavery, the slave trade, and the Slave Coast (until the colonial conquest). As the locals were opposed to the abolition of the slave trade, the result was for a while a moderately thriving so-called illegal slave trade with the connivance of the Brazilian authorities. In addition, a trade in palm-oil developed. If we add the final collapse of Oyo and the subsequent eruption of the Yoruba wars, we could say that prospects looked fairly promising for Dahomey. Dahomey was eclipsed, and in fact defeated at times, by the polities (some new) of the Yoruba in the east, principally Lagos and Abeokuta.

Abstract:
This essay is a comparative study of European (EU) Portuguese and Brazilian (BR) Portuguese in the context of oral, low-monitored language level where the two variants differ the most. The analysis is performed on audiovisual material, specifically the dubbed versions of Madagascar, that provide examples of authentic language used by contemporary native speakers. The first section of the article focuses on building a theoretical framework based on the existing studies on children’s literature and audiovisual translation with a focus on dubbing. The theoretical introduction and the different strategies used for the localization of the dialogues, allow us to draw hypotheses on diatopical differences of the Portuguese language in Portugal and Brazil. The last section of the article compares EU and BR Portuguese on morphosyntax, lexicon and cultural level, using specific examples taken from the movie Madagascar.

Abstract:
Sign language is one of the main forms of communication used by the deaf community. The language’s smallest unit, a “sign”, comprises a series of intricate manual and facial gestures. As opposed to speech recognition, sign language recognition (SLR) lags behind, presenting a multitude of open challenges because this language is visual-motor. This paper aims to explore two novel approaches in feature extraction of facial expressions in SLR, and to propose the use of Random Forest (RF) in Brazilian SLR as a scalable alternative to Support Vector Machines (SVM) and k-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN). Results show that RF’s performance is at least comparable to SVM’s and k-NN’s, and validate non-manual parameter recognition as a consistent step towards SLR.
