Abstract:
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, with an estimated number of new cases not less than 1,050,346 per year. Meanwhile, in North Sumatra in 2019, breast cancer occupied the highest position or 856 cases/incidents of the total number of cancer patients. Efforts to control breast cancer have been carried out by the government of the Republic of Indonesia in particular through the early detection program or BSE. BSE is breast self-examination which aimed to determine the presence or absence of breast cancer in women. This examination performed using a mirror and carried out by women aged 20 years and over. The main indication of BSE was to detect the occurrence of breast cancer by observing the breast from the front, left and right side, whether there were lumps, changes in skin colour, noisy putting and discharge or pus and blood. This research method was descriptive qualitative with 7 informants (subject teachers). This study aimed to determine breast self-examination (BSE) conducted by the Methodist 8 Medan high school teacher. The results showed that all teachers had good knowledge and attitudes about BSE but had fewer actions about BSE. The conclusion of good knowledge and attitudes that teachers have is obtained by obtaining information about BSE through electronic media, namely the internet and fewer actions regarding BSE due to a lack of knowledge to carry out BSE appropriately according to the stages due to the absence of BSE counseling or seminars on BSE.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT An overview of my 40-year career will be provided, spanning both industry and academe, and two continents. During my industrial years at LANXESS (formerly the Rubber Division of Bayer), I solved long-standing (10-yr) major manufacturing problems related to Taktene-55 and developed on-line and off-line process control tools that are still in operation. I also developed new technologies (bimodal butyl, one-step halobutyl, branched butyl, liquid carbon dioxide process) that resulted in patents. After transferring to academe, I continued the development of new polyisobutylene-based materials. I have held the Bayer (LANXESS) Industrial Research Chair for 12 yr, working closely with the rubber industry. My most important accomplishments include developing advanced elastomers and thermoplastic elastomers for health care, enzyme-catalyzed polymer functionalization, a “green” synthesis of disulfide polymers and gels, and research into natural rubber biosynthesis. Poly(styrene-isobutylene-polystyrene) is used in a Food and Drug Administration–approved drug-eluting stent, implanted in more than six million patients, saving lives. The recently patented poly(alloocimene-isobutylene-alloocimene) is also a potential biomaterial and also a potential halogen-free halobutyl rubber. I will also discuss my adventure of a field experiment at a Brazilian Hevea plantation to verify our laboratory discovery that the rubber content of Hevea latex can be increased by 20–50% using a special method of tapping. My goal now is creating safer breast implants with cancer-fighting and healing properties. I am proud that the Rubber World trade journal listed me among the 125 inventors that influenced rubber technology in a profound way. I thank my family, Professor Joseph P. Kennedy, and Dr. Adel Halasa for their mentorship and support.

Abstract:
Magister Scientiae - MSc (Biotechnology)<br>Brassica napus is a plant that is used for human and animal consumption. This plant is also used for phytoremediation due to its relatively higher level of heavy metal tolerance. In South Africa, mining is one of the main drivers of the economy. One of the major negative environmental impacts of mining is heavy metal contamination. Soil metal content can rise to levels that are quite high and can even have a negative impact on the yields of B. napus crop. The glucosinolate-myrosinase system of B. napus is a system that is used as defence against biotic stressors. Indole glucosinolate breakdown products have been proven to enhance the antioxidant capacity of plants. Some have also shown growth promoting properties in plants. We studied the effect of exogenous DIM on B. napus and it role in Zr induced heavy metal stress. Germination percentages revealed that DIM increased germination, Zr application decreased germination and the DIMZr treatment reversed the negative impact of Zr application on B. napus. The effect of treatments on the biomass of B. napus was assessed by determining the dry weights. Results show that exogenous DIM improves biomass. Zr application decreased biomass and DIM-Zr treatment ameliorated the effect of Zr application.<br>2020-08-31

Abstract:
O conjunto destes estudos demonstra que nanocápsulas desenvolvidas são potenciais candidatas para ensaios biológicos in vitro.<br>Breast tumors may be categorized by the expression of different receptors such as HER-2 (growth factor epidermal receptor 2), The use of the inhibitor drug receptor tyrosine-kinase lapatinib ditosylate (Tyverb®, GlaxoSmithKline) has been widely studied. In this sense, the work is focused on pharmaceutics development and physicochemical characterization of multiwall nanocapsules coated with polysorbate 80 and phosphatidylcholine (Lipoid S75®), followed by coating with chitosan containing lapatinib ditosylate (25 μ/mL and 50 μg/mL). Physicochemical studies of the organic phase and nanocapsules containing Lipoid S75® at different concentrations were developed by viscosity, surface tension analysis and differential scanning calorimetry, correlated with the particle size and interaction of phosphatidylcholine in the system From this, we have chosen the highest concentration of lipoid S75® tested to develop complexed nanocapsules multiparede with metal and phenylalanine containing lapatinib ditosylate (Lap25-P5-Phe-Phe-Q; Lap50-P5-Q -Fc-Phe; Lap25-P5-O-Zn-Phe; Lap50-P5-Zn-O-Phe). Formulations containing lapatinib ditosylate showed unimodal distribution of particles in the nanometer range (111-172 nm) and low polydispersity index. The obtained zeta potential range (+16 - +22 mV) indicated by the chitosan particle coating. The lapatinib ditosylate was quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The mobile phase consisted method in acetonitrile: 0.02M ammonium acetate (70:30), flow 1.0 mLmin-1 with detection at 260 nm. The suspensions containing 25 ugmL-1 and 50 ugmL-1 showed drug content of between 93% and 91%, respectively. The encapsulation efficiency (EE%) was above 90%. Together these studies demonstrate that the nanocapsules are potential candidates for in vitro biological assays.

Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
In this chapter, normal breast anatomy is discussed, with a succinct pictorial summary of breast glandular elements, the chest wall, and the axilla. The locations of breast lesions are often arbitrarily divided into upper outer, upper inner, lower inner, and upper inner quadrants. However, the lobes within a specific quadrant cross over into adjacent quadrants. The terminal duct lobular unit (TDLU) is composed of an interlobular duct and associated lobules with multiple grape-like structures where the milk is secreted and drains into the terminal ducts, interlobular ducts, excretory ducts, lactiferous sinus, lactiferous duct, and the nipple. Axillary lymph nodes are divided into three levels, based on their location in relation to the pectoralis minor muscle. Level I axillary lymph nodes are located below the edge of the pectoralis minor; level II lies posterior to the pectoralis minor; and level III lies medial to the pectoralis minor.

Abstract:
Vascular calcifications lie within the artery wall, and appear to be linear, usually in association with blood vessels. The parallel or “tram-track” appearance of the calcifications in opposite walls of the artery is pathognomonic. They are more prevalent with age. They are also associated with diabetes, renal disease, hyperparathyroidism, parity, and history of lactation, and possibly, cardiovascular disease. Vascular calcifications in the breast are within the arterial wall media, where they are known as Mönckeberg medial calcific sclerosis. This chapter reviews the key imaging features, imaging protocols, differential diagnoses, and management recommendations for vascular calcifications. Topics discussed include demographics and comorbidities, linear calcifications, and diagnostic workup.

Abstract:
The skin of the medial thigh is thin and inelastic, and laxity here is often the earliest sign of ageing in the thighs. The medial thigh skin is also one of the areas most affected following weight loss. The majority of skin laxity occurs at the junction of the anterior and medial thigh, where the skin tends to hang in a dependent, pleated fashion. This can interfere with walking, toileting, and various other day-to-day activities, resulting in irritation due to chaffing between the thighs. Body contouring techniques are routinely combined in stages to achieve a more harmonious result. Medial thigh lift is frequently combined with upper body lift or breast surgery, or both, whereas brachioplasty is usually combined with abdominoplasty/lower body lift. Opposing vectors of pull and excessive damage to local vascularity are thereby avoided. However, staging surgical procedures has the potential to reveal additional areas of dissatisfaction to the patient. Abdominoplasty patients often report increased dissatisfaction with the medial thighs as a consequence of this previously hidden deformity becoming visible to them postoperatively. In fact, massive weight-loss patients’ dissatisfaction with their thighs is almost as great as with the changes to their breasts in terms of their severely decreased self-esteem, sexuality, and quality of life.

Abstract:
Breast cancer is the most common serious disease that occurs in the human body. Trace elements have an important function in biological and metabolism processes including activation or inhibition of enzymatic reaction, reactive oxygen species (ROS), competition between trace elements and metal proteins for binding positions and modifications in the permeability of cellular membranes which influence carcinogenic processes. A significant association between the abnormal concentration of trace elements and breast cancer has been found in many studies using XRF techniques like energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF), particle induced X-ray emission (PIXE), total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF), wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF) and synchrotron induced X-ray fluorescence (SRIXE). This chapter considers trace elements like Fe, Cu, Zn, Cr, Cl, Ca, P, S, K, Na, Mg, Se, As and Sr. from the standpoint of their role as either inhibitory or causative agents of breast cancer. XRF techniques and sample preparation methods for analysis of biological samples are also reviewed.

Abstract:
The model subassembly of the BREST-type reactor core consists of a pin bundle of square arrangement. In this bundle there are two zones which differ in the pin diameter and heat production. The model pin bundle contains one spacer grid which is located near the mid-plane of the rod bundle geometry. The working is a eutectic alloy of 22% sodium (Na) plus 78% potassium (K). Three kinds of experiments were performed to observe the thermal and hydraulic behavior of the liquid metal coolant in the BREST core simulator. Results were obtained for the coolant exit temperature distribution, central measuring pin simulator external surface temperature distribution, and coolant velocity distribution over the perimeter of the measuring pin simulator. The experiments were performed five times with increasing pin power ratios. Analysis was performed on the model subassembly of the BREST-type reactor core using a subchannel analysis code MATRA and a computational fluid dynamics code CFX. Calculational results were compared against the experimental data. The experiment revealed that the temperature rise was strongly dependent upon the geometry of the pin simulator. In contrast to the experimental results, the MATRA results were mainly dependent upon the thermal and hydraulic conditions. It was concluded that MATRA requires modifications for the pressure drop correlations that were considered inappropriate for accurately simulating the coolant behavior near the BREST-type grid spacer. Hand calculations were additionally carried out under different assumptions to determine the coolant exit temperature distribution in the pin simulator. First, the hand calculation was performed to find the coolant exit temperature distribution assuming that there is no momentum or energy transfer between subchannels. Second, an assumption was made that the coolant mixing in the subchannel assembly took place instantaneously and the pressure was equilibrated at the channel exit. Since MATRA is based on a lumped parameter model, it only calculates the subchannel averaged velocity values. Here, CFX based on the finite volume method was utilized to calculate the velocity fields over the perimeter. Results from the experiment and CFX were averaged in each subchannel region so as to check on the tendency. The CFX analysis showed reasonable results which can be improved by imposing more detailed geometry accounting for the angle of the inclination of the grid spacer.

Abstract:
Food dehydration is one of a main process to preserve meal. In order to optimaze a freeze-drying operation a physic model is needed to well describe the thermodynamic behaviors involved in this process. In this work, a thermographic camera and different physico-chemical determinations are used to monitor many phenomena that occur during the lyophilization of poultry breast. Finally, a non-continuous irreversible thermodynamic model, based on thermal infrared measures and in shrinkage/swelling mechanism, has been developed, wich explains the behaviours produced throughout the meat freeze-drying process. Keywords: freeze-drying, thermodynamic model, infrared thermography, poultry.
