Abstract:
Comparison of Physiological and Metabolic Responses to Playing Nintendo Wii Sports and Brisk Treadmill WalkingRegular moderate-intensity exercise (e.g. brisk walking) provides health benefits. In the present study, we compared the physiological and metabolic responses of playing the Nintendo Wii Sports tennis, baseball and boxing with self-paced brisk treadmill walking. Ten young-adults (21±1 years; 73.9±12.0 kg; 1.76±0.06 m) played each sport for 10 min with a 5 min rest interval or, in a separate session, walked briskly (6.1±0.6 km·h-1) with an equivalent time order wearing the Cosmed K4b2metabolic system. In a bout of 10 min, the average values during Nintendo Wii boxing for physiological (i.e. minute ventilation, oxygen uptake and heart rate) and metabolic (i.e. energy expenditure, fat oxidation, carbohydrate oxidation and respiratory exchange ratio) responses were equal to brisk treadmill walking but lower for Nintendo Wii tennis and baseball (P<0.05). It was concluded that the physiological and metabolic responses of Nintendo Wii boxing would allow this game activity to be a viable part of a programme of structured exercise in young-adults to gain health benefits.

The article is focused on ideas, expressed in a new book the complex political and economic processes taking place in the Republic of Belarus require "a game of scaling".Whether counting the participants of protest rallies, or analyzing statements of the authorities and the opposition, or assessing inventory and exchange rate dynamics,Specialists aspire to provide a reliability of the analysis of current processes. However, the strategic analysis and a forecast within the framework of this approach is impossible. The border situation of Belarus cannot be considered exhaustively studied. The borderline changes its quality. Located between socialist Poland and the Soviet republics, Belarus did not move geographically, but the political and geographical changes were fundamental. Belarus found itself in the center of a mosaic space, the key characteristic of which is being located on the frontier. The question is where a new frontier of civilizations will be fixed ‒ near Brest or near Smolensk? The author of the book as well as the author of this article are confident that the informal civilizational border is located near Brest and Grodno.

Late remote sensor systems (WSNs) are be-coming logically complex with the creating framework scale and the dynamic thought of remote correspondences. Various estimation and decisive techniques depend upon per-divide courses for correct and fine-grained examination of the psyche boggling net-work hones. In this paper, we propose iPath, a novel way inferring approach to manage reproducing the per-package directing courses in capable and broad scale frameworks. The basic idea of iPath is to abuse high path closeness to iteratively accumulate long courses from short ones. IPath starts with a hidden known game plan of ways and performs way derivation iteratively. iPath consolidates a novel layout of a lightweight Extensible hashing, hash work for affirmation of the construed ways. To furthermore improve the conclusion capacity and moreover the execution capability, iPath fuses a brisk bootstrapping computation to change the hidden game plan of ways. We also execute iPath and survey its execution using takes after from tremendous scale WSN associations and moreover expansive multiplications. Results show that iPath achieves essentially higher revamping extents under different framework settings stood out from other best in class approaches.

Abstract:
Background:KNOWME Networks is a wireless body area network with 2 triaxial accelerometers, a heart rate monitor, and mobile phone that acts as the data collection hub. One function of KNOWME Networks is to detect physical activity (PA) in overweight Hispanic youth. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the in-laboratory recognition accuracy of KNOWME.Methods:Twenty overweight Hispanic participants (10 males; age 14.6 ± 1.8 years), underwent 4 data collection sessions consisting of 9 activities/session: lying down, sitting, sitting fidgeting, standing, standing fidgeting, standing playing an active video game, slow walking, brisk walking, and running. Data were used to train activity recognition models. The accuracy of personalized and generalized models is reported. Results:Overall accuracy for personalized models was 84%. The most accurately detected activity was running (96%). The models had difficulty distinguishing between the static and fidgeting categories of sitting and standing. When static and fidgeting activity categories were collapsed, the overall accuracy improved to 94%. Personalized models demonstrated higher accuracy than generalized models. Conclusions:KNOWME Networks can accurately detect a range of activities. KNOWME has the ability to collect and process data in real-time, building the foundation for tailored, real-time interventions to increase PA or decrease sedentary time.

Chi, Joseph Jung Uk. ""Forget not the wombe that bare you, and the brest that gave you sucke" : John Cotton's sermons on Canticles and Revelation and his apocalyptic vision for England." Thesis, University of Edinburgh, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/1842/5953.

Full text
Abstract:
The tumultuous events that erupted in Scotland and England c.1637 – 1650 sparked tremendous interest in John Cotton. As a result he turned to two Biblical books, Canticles and Revelation, to determine whether those events that transpired across the Atlantic Ocean were of apocalyptic significance. Cotton’s exegetical findings concluded that prophetic fulfilment was indeed unfolding and more importantly that the glorious millennium foretold in Scripture was imminent. As the leading polemicist of New England’s Congregational way, Cotton infused his defence of this controversial church polity with apocalyptic importance. However, he did not make the case for the exclusive role of the colonies in the grand scheme of eschatological reformation but New England’s support for reform in his native country, England. This dissertation continues the revision of scholarship that moulded Perry Miller’s Errand into the Wilderness thesis into an exclusive selfconsciousness of divine intentions for the New England colonies by arguing for England’s prominence in Cotton’s eschatological vision. In the process, Cotton’s ecclesiology will be presented in an eschatological context. Moreover, this thesis demonstrates that Cotton understood New England’s experiment with non-separating congregational ecclesiology as contributing to English reformation. Chapter One examines the only pre-migration source that concentrated on prophetic themes, Cotton’s sermons on Canticles, which were preached sometime during the 1620s. Cotton presented an optimistic outlook on the church’s future based on the recognition of a godly remnant he believed existed in his own parish of St. Botolph’s as well as others scattered throughout England. Cotton recognized that a lingering presence of popery threatened England’s covenantal standing with God and that the faithful remnant upheld the nation’s covenantal commitment to Biblical purity and obedience. Chapter Two re-examines the events surrounding Cotton’s expulsion from England. A careful assessment demonstrates that Cotton’s only desire was to remain in England at any cost, particularly in fear of being cast a separatist. However, Cotton became convinced of the legitimacy of exile to New England through the belief that from America Cotton could continue in active service to the English church. Though Cotton did not reject England’s role in apocalyptic fulfilment, Cotton came to see Congregationalism as the primary agency through which Antichrist would be defeated and the millennial church ushered into history. This is clearly seen when Cotton returned to preach from Canticles a second time in the 1640s with the added accent on soteriology and piety. Chapter Three argues that Cotton used Scotland’s resistance against Charles I and prelacy to exhort England towards adopting Congregationalism. Cotton praised the Scottish Covenanters for their resistance against prelacy, which Cotton identified as the image of the beast from Revelation, in the Bishops’ Wars and the National Covenant. Through those events, Cotton demonstrated that God’s apocalyptic strategy for the Antichrist’s demise had resumed. However, Cotton also took the opportunity to demonstrate that the Kirk’s Presbyterianism resembled prelacy’s hierarchical and national structure and exhorted England to adopt New England’s Congregationalism. Chapter Four demonstrates that Cotton was overwhelmed with optimism in the early 1650s based upon the signs of apocalyptic providences in the purging of Parliament, Charles I’s execution and England’s victory over Scotland at Dunbar in September 1650. To Cotton, Cromwell’s victory at Dunbar was the indisputable sign that divine providence stood in favour of Congregationalism over Presbyterianism and that God’s presence endured with England.

Abstract:
This chapter considers the impact of ‘the American invasion’: a slew of Broadway musicals led by Oklahoma! and Annie Get Your Gun that captivated and shocked audiences when they opened in 1947 in London. Arriving in a country mired in post-war rationing and rehabilitation, they offered a sharp contrast to the typical material on the British musical stage. To understand the transatlantic dynamics that are its context, it is useful to consider how contemporary America projected itself, and how the British perceived Americans. With Hollywood images of virile action heroes, and with American GIs stationed on British soil, Brits encountered a new and forceful sexuality that the energy of the post-war Broadway imports evoked. As the staid morals of the pre-war era gave way to the excitement of the new, the British musical responded with the punchy riposte of a new Novello show: Gay’s the Word.

Abstract:
We gaze with some apprehension at a sleek, shiny machine that looks like a cross between a sports car and a small spaceship. Illuminated in a vertical cylinder of light, the time capsule silently awaits our entry; it gives no clue to what we can expect at our destination, the year 2032. With racing hearts, our small group of garbologists enters; we strap ourselves in. Soon the countdown begins. There is only the briefest feeling of levitation, a slight rising sensation in the pit of the stomach as though descending in a fast elevator, and then we are there. As we exit, our curiosity is at fever pitch. What has happened to the Earth in the three decades we miraculously skipped over? Before we departed, the world’s population was rapidly approaching 6 billion, with many signs that the environment was finally wilting under this onslaught. We could only guess at what three more decades of continued environmental degradation might yield. Would we find air that was breathable, only traces of an ozone layer, any remnants of tropical or old-growth forests, any parks or green spaces in cities? Would North America be one giant parking lot? With these questions buzzing through our brains, we begin our futuristic exploration, like archeologists working in reverse. We move invisibly through this new time domain, knowing that we can only observe and not affect anything we see. It is clear that we are still in New York City, but what a change! The streets are no longer choked with car traffic, although small motorized bicycles, some built for two or three people, are darting everywhere. There is no haze in the sky, the air feels clean and brisk, and the streets are completely free of litter. Recycle containers are ubiquitous; they are green and divided into six compartments. As we soon discover, every house, apartment building, streetcorner, park, airport, shopping mall, and baseball diamond has recycling containers; there are no waste bins. People treat garbage as a resource rather than as something undesirable, and they spend considerable effort in separating the various recyclable components, whether they are at home, at work, in a cafeteria, or at play.

The article presents the project for a multifamily housing - Oito Casas – that presents a concrete bearing structure and also a set of pre-fabricated concrete brise soleil in the upper level of the main facade. The specificity of the project led us first to the modification of the allotment plan. A procedure that was then followed by the development of a spatial configuration allowed by a concrete structure and, finally, the introduction of the exposed concrete in the form of concrete brise soleils that provide a particular and changeable identity to the architectural set throughout the day, in a distinctive game of shadows.

Abstract:
Abstract: Le Corbusier attitude on the epidermal surface of buildings changes when he realises, in the 1920s, that the problems caused by membranes of insufficient thick with large glazed areas. During the 1930s decade, Le Corbusier worked mainly in warm countries, and the invention of the brise-soleil seemed to be the answer to the problems of heat gain. The brise-soleil, in the work of Le Corbusier, played two important roles: one as an element of adaptation to the climate and the other as an element of composition of facade. The aim of this paper is to rescue the importance that Le Corbusier gave to this element, so it treats the evolution and transformation of the brise-soleil, in his own work. The methodology of the work consists of an analysis of works chosen for their relevance on the issue from an environmental point of view, based on the studies of Almodovar, D. Siret and Requena, considering the solar orientation and solar shading in the winter and summer solstice (Le Corbusier argued that there were at least two hours of solar penetration in winter). In the same way, from the architectural point of view, it treats aspects such as the architectural form, integration in the whole, insert on the facade and compositional importance.
