Various methods of spatial redundancy can be used in local networks based on the SpaceFibre standard for fault mitigation of network hardware and physical communication channels. Usually, a network developer chooses the method of spatial redundancy according to the number of failures that have to be mitigated, the time required for restoring the normal operation of the network, required overheads and hardware costs. The use of different spatial redundancy mechanisms can cause changes in the structure of the links between network nodes, in case of failure and subsequent mitigation. In turn, thi

The 1960s witnessed the emergence of television as a global medium. One way of demonstrating the powers and possibilities of television was the production and airing of transnational broadcast events. In order to produce these, national broadcast organizations had to engage in joint production of such events. The article examines two such events: Gagarin’s return to Moscow after orbiting the earth in April 1961 and the more well-known ‘Our World’ broadcast 6 years later. At the time of their production, these broadcasts were seen as crucial moments in television history, as prototypes of what

Considering the limited resources and the dynamic spectrum distribution in the cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSN), a half-duplex Multichannel broadcast protocol for CRSN is presented based on the home channel. This protocol maintains the networks topology only through the home channel, so there is no need for the public channel to transmit the control information and no need for the synchronization. After network initialization, node broadcasts data via home channel in half-duplex transmission way. The simulation results show that, compared with complete broadcast, the proposed protocol ef

There are two consecutive broadcasts. The first starts the rumour process. The objective is to time the second broadcast so that the final proportion of ignorants is minimised. Previous efforts use individualist methods, searching for single broadcasts with high signal-to-noise ratio. These would be detected as observables with extreme values. This approach is limited to very bright broadcasts and also is subject to confusion, where a large number of broadcasts blend together to form a noise continuum.
