Abstract:

Single crystals of K(CN)$\sb{\rm x}$/(Br)$\sb{\rm 1-x}$ enriched in $\sp{15}$N have been studied by $\sp{15}$N NMR. Because of the anisotropic chemical shift, the NMR frequency spectrum of the orientational glass state reflects the distribution of cyanide orientations. By studying the spectrum at many orientations of each crystal, the orientational probability distribution function P($\Omega$) has been determined for x = 0.50 and for x = 0.20. The probability function is largest along the (100) directions, intermediate in the (110) directions, and nearly 0 along the (111) directions. The NMR d

Abstract:

The etching of silicon by atomic and molecular chlorine and bromine was studied as a function of etchant pressure and reaction temperature. Various types of silicon were employed in the etching experiments including intrinsic and n-type polycrystalline silicon as well as the (100) face of intrinsic single crystal silicon. The pressures of Cl₂ and Br₂ varied from 0.1 to 30 Torr and the partial pressure of Cl and Br atoms was between 0.08 and 0.2 Torr. Temperatures of between 365 and 600°C were required for CI₂ and Br₂ etching, while lower temperatures of 25 to 470°C were sufficient for the more

Neste trabalho, os cristais de TlBr foram crescidos pelo método de Bridgman, a partir de materiais purificados pela técnica de fusão zonal. A eficiência da purificação e avaliação da superfície cristalina em relação ao desempenho como detectores de radiação foi observada. Bons resultados foram obtidos com os aprimoramentos realizados nos processos de purificação, crescimento de cristais e na fabricação dos detectores. The results of a systematic 35Cl, 81Br, and 127I SSNMR spectroscopic study of a series of halogen-substituted anilinium halide salts are presented. Solid-state NMR of these nuclides, bromine-/81 and iodine-127 in particular, is not well established. Twenty-one compounds thought to exhibit halogen bonding were prepared based on modified literature procedures, and two crystal structures were solved.
