Abstract:
Trout furunculosis was first recorded in Spain by CORDERO DEL CAMPILLO et al. (1970) in Salmo trutta m. fario in León province (NW Spain), although the disease had been previously found in Asturias (1968). Apparently, this report was the first one concerning wild trouts, while previous knowledge on the disease had heen acquired at fish farms producing commercial rainbow trouts.

Abstract The aim of this study was to assess the efficiency of propagating juvenile trout, Salmo trutta L. in small lowland streams and to evaluate the impact of the environmental conditions in the streams on the juvenile fish. Brown trout (Salmo trutta fario) and sea trout (Salmo trutta trutta) early fry fed under controlled conditions were used to stock third-order lowland streams. During summer, fall, and spring catches, fry were counted, measured, and weighed. The following parameters were calculated using the data collected: fry stocking density (ind. m-2); survival; specific mortality ra

Mitotic gynogenesis results in the production of fully homozygous individuals in a single generation. Since inbred fish were found to exhibit an increased frequency of body deformations that may affect their survival, the main focus of this research was to evaluate the ratio of individuals with spinal deformities among gynogenetic doubled haploids (DHs) brown trout as compared to nonmanipulated heterozygous individuals. Gynogenetic development was induced by the activation of brown trout eggs by UV-irradiated homologous and heterologous (rainbow trout) spermatozoa. The subsequent exposure of t

Approximately calculated toxic doses of lead-acetate for fish were 550 mg/kg. Following the experimental period, fish organs, in particular kidneys, were examined by light microscopy. Heavy metal contamination of the Loučka River water ecosystem was assessed in July 2005. We analyzed concentrations of T-Hg (total mercury), Cd, Pb, Cr, Cu, Zn, and Ni in water, sediments, zoobenthos, and in the brown trout (Salmo trutta m. fario) muscle and liver tissues (a total of 28 individuals) at four sampling sites. The highest Pb and Ni concentrations (4.634-12.050 and 0.689-24.980 mg kg-1) were found in sediments. The zoobenthos was most contaminated by Zn and Cu (0.556-1.505 and 2.925-74.300 mg kg-1). The testes of fish are paired organs, of a variable shape in different species of fish. Their structure in the salmonid species is lobular. With the histological assays, we established that the lobes were separated by the connective tissue septa, which, given the intensity of spermatogenesis in the studied groups of fish (Salmo trutta m. Fario; Oncorhynchus mykiss) sporadically disappear, in fact, they break. In the space between the lobes there are also cross-sections of blood vessels with visible erythrocytes. This study aimed to evaluate otter predation on stocked trout and grayling. Stocking took place mostly in the second half of 2005. Around 5000 hatchery-reared brown trouts (Salmo trutta m. fario) of size about 10 cm, 600 graylings (Thymallus thymallus) of the same size and 480 rainbow trouts (Oncorhynchus mykiss) of size about 30 cm were stocked into the stream.
