Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to describe and analyse a historic performance-based pay system used in 1803-1810 to reward Marc Isambard Brunel for his innovative engineering designs used in the Portsmouth Block Mills. This was used to ensure that Brunel would continue his work on the project once the design was complete to resolve any problems and make any desirable improvements to the machines and the system as a whole. Design/methodology/approach This research analyses archived correspondence between the project’s initiators: the Navy Board and Samuel Bentham along with the Admiralty

Purpose: This study compares the kinematic changes after the procedures for scapholunate interosseous ligament (SLIL) reconstruction—the modified Brunelli technique (MBT) and Mark Henry’s technique (MHT). Methods: Ten cadaveric wrists were used. The scapholunate (SL) interval and angle and radiolunate (RL) angle were recorded using the MicroScribe system. The SL interval was measured by dividing the volar and dorsal portions. Four motions of the wrist were performed—neutral, flexion, extension, and clenched fist (CF) positions—and compared among five conditions: (1) intact wrist, (2) volar SLI

Abstract Recent studies from the cancer genome atlas (TCGA. Nature. 2014) (TCGA. Nature. 2017) and other groups showed that a molecular subtype with chromosomal instability (CIN) is the most common subtype of gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma (GEA) and is characterized by aneuploidy without somatic hypermutation. The oncogene KRAS is frequently amplified in CIN type gastric cancer (14.3%) and esophageal adenocarcinoma (10.4%). SHP2 is a phosphatase which is a part of a machinery activating KRAS from GDP-bound inactive status to GTP-bound active status, and our group previously reported that KRAS

Abstract Melanoma is the most lethal form of skin cancer, with over 300,000 new cases worldwide every year. Specifically, melanoma with NRAS mutations are of particular clinical concern due to their association with a poor prognosis and lack of specific treatment options. Therefore, there is a pressing need for novel approaches to address the treatment of NRAS-mutant melanoma. A current approach to identify novel drug targets is based on the genetic concept of induced essentiality, where functional interactions that occur in response to oncogene addiction create a dependency on another gene. In hindsight, the establishment of MABBIM did not just mark the shared geopolitical location of the countries within MABBIM, it also highlights the shared historical and cultural values of these nations as embedded in the term bahasa serumpun. This chapter presents the author's view of psychology in Homer. It begins by suggesting that the Odyssey is particularly interested in a central psychological issue — agency — and that it demands that its audience consider issues of agency and responsibility throughout its plot. The chapter then distinguishes the author's view of Homeric psychology from prior treatments among Homerists by introducing concepts from Jerome Bruner and Mark Turner (among others), who have written about connections between narrative and literature, on the one hand, and human psychology, on the other.
