The main form of locomotion in the lamprey (a lower vertebrate, cyclostome) is forward swimming (FS) based on periodical waves of lateral body flexion propagating from head to tail. The lamprey is also capable of backward swimming (BS). Here we describe the kinematical and electromyographic (EMG) pattern of BS, as well as the effects on this pattern exerted by different lesions of the spinal cord. The BS was evoked by tactile stimulation of a large area in the anterior part of the body. Swimming was attributed to the waves of lateral body undulations propagating from tail to head. The EMG burs

Basic mechanisms generating these patterns are located in the spinal cord; they are activated and regulated by supraspinal commands. A selection of dimeric Cu(II) complexes with bidentate N,N′ ligands with the general formula [Cu(L)(X)(μ-OH)]2·nH2O and [Cu(L)(μ-OH)]2X2·nH2O were magneto-structurally analyzed using the Density Functional Theory (DFT). A Broken Symmetry-Density Functional Theory (BS-DFT) study was undertaken for these complexes with relevant decomposition schemes that gave insight into the effect of the nature of the ligand and coordination environment on the DFT-predicted coupling constants (J). Abstract High penetration of photovoltaic (PV) generation in low voltage (LV) distribution networks can leads some power quality problems. One of the most important issues in this regard is the impermissible voltage deviation in periods with a large imbalance between PV generation and local load consumption. Accordingly, many authors deal with this issue. This work investigates voltage regulation for LV distribution networks equipped with the hybrid distribution transformer (HDT), and with high penetration of PV units. A two-stage algorithm for voltage regulation is proposed. In the first stag

Young drivers usually represent the highest number of individuals involved in the accident cases. Thus, three common ergonomics principle were examined in this study: human-machine-environment. Issues such as land use, vehicle design and the importance of law enforcement are briefly discussed. Further research is needed to improve driver’s behavior and responses while driving. We present a series of pyrazolato-bridged copper complexes with interesting structures that can be considered prototypic patterns for tri-, hexa- and hepta- nuclear systems. The trinuclear shows an almost regular triangle with a μ3-OH central group. The hexanuclear has identical monomer units, the Cu6 system forming a regular hexagon. The heptanuclear can be described as two trinuclear moieties sandwiching a central copper ion via carboxylate bridges. In the heptanuclear system, the pyrazolate bridges are consolidating the triangular faces, which are sketching an elongated trigonal antiprism.

With the emergence of small cell networks and fifth-generation (5G) wireless networks, the backhaul becomes increasingly complex. In order to address this backhaul resource allocation problem, we introduce a novel backhaul optimization methodology in the context of the recently proposed LayBack SDN backhaul architecture.
