Buildings account for over 35% of the energy demand in OECD countries, making them a prime target for improvement. (EIA 2011) To help building owners reduce energy usage, ratings systems such as LEED have been developed. A prerequisite for certification is the demonstration of energy efficiency through computer modeling; however, the complex nature of building energy simulations too often leads to errors of up to 30% (Turner and Frankel 2008). One source of significant error can be the assumptions made of environmental conditions, which are often simplified to speed up simulations. To demonstr

Climate change projections estimate a rise of approximately 3 °C by the 2080‘s for most of the UK (under a medium emissions scenario at 50% probability level, 1961-1990 baseline). Warming is of particular concern for urban areas due to the issues of urban densification and the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect. To combat warming, one adaptation strategy that has been suggested for urban areas is increasing the proportion of greenspace, such as parks, gardens, street tree plantings, and green roofs. However, though there have been some cases of planting trees on the balconies of high-rise buildings in recent years, its impact on urban microclimate still needs further research. In this study, based on the ideal city model with 6  11 high-rise buildings, seven conceptual models are established respectively by the variables of d

High-density and High-rise buildings bring about an obstacle to the urban environment and not only prone produce strong wind or hinder, but reduce air convection even cause pollutant accumulation. Some of research indicate that ventilation corridors can make city getting good ventilation and improving the air quality. In recent years , the rise of the high-rise opening buildings . These openings are mainly used to reduce surface wind and others are for wind power genera

This study measured the temperature and humidity of Tainan for one year. The Morphing approach is combined with GIS data to construct local microclimate data. Use the generated weather data to map the bioclimatic maps, while using EnergyPlus to simulate the energy consumption of the diaspora in different microclimates. In addition, made a model for predicting the total energy consumption of urban grids using EUI, building and

However, the presence of pedestrian bridges may deteriorate the microclimates in street canyons. The development of high-density urban street canyons toward dense high-rise buildings causes the decline of ventilation rate, heat island effect and pollutant accumulation resulting from the breezeless state in the downtown area. Based on the local microclimate and urban conditions, this study applies the computational fluid dynamics (CFD
