Abstract:
Enterprises that implement Service-driven applications face challenges relating to unprecedented scale, high availability, and fault-tolerance. There is exponential growth with respect to request volume in Service-driven systems, requiring the ability to provide multipoint access to shared services and data while preserving a single system image. Maintaining fault-tolerance in business services is a significant challenge due to their compositional nature, which instills dependencies among the services in the composition. This causes the dependability of the business services to be based on the reliability of the individual services in the composition. This chapter explores the architectural approaches such as service redundancy and design diversity, scaling, clustering, distributed data caching, in-memory data grid, and asynchronous messaging, for improving the dependability of services. It also explores the data scaling bottleneck in data centralization paradigms and illustrates how that presents significant scalability and fault-tolerance challenges in service-driven environments. Prevalent strategies to handle failure recovery such as backward and forward recovery mechanisms as well as the built-in mechanisms in WS-BPEL for exception handling and transactional compensation are discussed.

Abstract:
One of the hottest technologies these days is voice communication over packet-switched data networks. This is known as voice over Internet protocol (VoIP). Hardy (2003) defines VoIP as “the interactive voice exchange capability carried over packet switched transport employing the Internet protocol.” With VoIP, voice signal from the sender is digitized into packets that are transmitted to the receiver through a network, which often includes the Internet. As the Internet is a free resource, the communication cost of VoIP is much lower than that of traditional telephone systems. This is a major advantage of VoIP. VoIP system also increases the efficiency and service quality of businesses. As a result of VoIP, many advanced applications can be built and these include unified messaging, video conferencing, and ring list. But VoIP is not without its limitations. Its main drawback is low reliability. It also suffers from uncertain quality of voice transmission. In addition, it cannot guarantee security because it uses public networks. Although the idea of VoIP was known from the 1970s, it did not become commercially viable until 1995, when Vocaltec became the first company to produce the first commercially available VoIP product (Varshney et al., 2002).

This chapter presents a generalized messaging infrastructure that can be used for distributed agent systems. The principle of agent feedback messaging, upon which the infrastructure is built, is presented with examples. Agent feedback messaging allows agents to function as an intelligent agent ecosystem that spans multi-node computing clusters and facilitates agent communications in a way that mimics naturally occurring biofeedback mechanisms. An implementation of agent feedback messaging, AFM, is also described. Biosimulation and a solution to the travelling salesman problem are also presented as examples.

Abstract:
The creation and development of chatbots, which are the prevalent manifestations of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies in today's digital world, are built on Natural Language Processing (NLP), which serves as a cornerstone in the process. This chapter investigates the significant part that natural language processing (NLP) plays in determining the development and effectiveness of chatbots, beginning with their beginnings as personal virtual assistants and continuing through their seamless incorporation into messaging platforms and smart home gadgets. The study delves into the technological complexities and emphasizes the problems and improvements in natural language processing (NLP) algorithms and understanding (NLU) systems. These systems are essential in enabling chatbots to grasp context, decode user intent, and provide replies that are contextually appropriate in real time. In spite of the substantial progress that has been made, chatbots continue to struggle with constraints.

Abstract:
Post, telephone, and telegraph (PTT) enterprises, due to the incessant advances of telecommunications, have to provide for novel value-added services and to be able to supply their customers with the means to reap the full advantages of new technology so both commercially survive (Kurland, 1988). On the other hand, the market trends that favored the birth of many dot.com companies asked for service providers (SPs) that lead PTTs to gradually extend their services towards e-business and become x-service providers (x-SPs); x-SPs mainly stand for Application (ASPs), Interactive Voice Response Systems (IVRSPs), email/Messaging (eMSPs), Network (NSPs), Management (MSPs), Storage (SSPs), Data Center (DCSPs), Hosting (HSPs), and e-Commerce (eCSPs) ones. This chapter introduces the premises, the implementation, and the evaluation performance of a tele-working platform that was put into operation in order to equip the Public Bureaus of Thessaly’s rural county (Hellas) with the resources to build and provide their citizens those services. This novel platform complies with x-SP specifications and is built on a distributed computing basis.

Current consumer virtual reality (VR) systems rely heavily on handheld controllers for input. To this end, numerous methods have been developed and investigated since the emergence of VR in order to improve the user experience for interactions such as gaming or text entry while wearing a head-mounted display (HMD) and using handheld controllers [1, 2]. Although several novel text entry methods have been proposed, there is little research comparing the methods using virtual keyboard interfaces evaluated as experimental conditions. This would allow for a more focused and specialized comparison.S
