Abstract:
Obična bukva (Fagus sylvatica L.) u Hrvatskoj ima najveći areal, najzastupljenija je vrsta na obraslom šumskom zemljištu i pojavljuje se u velikom broju šumskih zajednica. Urod bukvice bilježi se kao bitan faktor porasta populacije sitnih glodavaca, koji su poznati prijenosnici niza zaraznih bolesti opasnih za čovjeka. Cilj ovog istraživanja je praćenje populacija sitnih glodavaca i hantavirusa u bukovim šumama. U okviru rada obavljen je izlov u periodu od 2011. do 2014. godine na ukupno 7 lovnih ploha raspoređenih na dva lokaliteta (NP Plitvička jezera i PP Medvednica). Ulovljene jedinke obrađene su na prisutnost hantavirusa. Na lovnim plohama u NP Plitvička jezera mjeren je i urod bukvice. Rezultati ovoga rada pokazali su da u bukovim šumama dominiraju žutogrli šumski miš i šumska voluharica te zajedno čine 99 % ulova. Brojnost sitnih glodavaca karakterizirale su povišene vrijednosti u 2012. godini i visoka brojnost („mišja godina“) u 2014. godini, dok je 2011. i 2013. godinu karakterizirala niska brojnost. Kod obrađenih glodavaca potvrđena je prevalencija 3 vrste hantavirusa. Puumala virus bio je zastupljen u 50 % ulova šumske voluharice, Dobrava (DOBV) u 5 % ulova žutogrlog šumskog miša i hantavirus Seewis (SWSV) u jednoj od dvije ulovljene jedinke šumske rovke. Urod bukvice na lovnim plohama NP Plitvička jezera zabilježen je povišen u 2011. godini i obilan u 2013. godini. Iz podataka utvrđujemo pozitivnu vezu između količine jesenskog uroda bukvice te porasta populacija sitnih glodavaca, porasta prevalencije hantavirusa i epidemije mišje groznice u godinama nakon obilnog uroda.

Abstract:
Bukva predstavlja jednu od najvažnijih vrsta drveća u Bosni i Hercegovini. Stoga, potrebno je praćenje zdravstvenog stanja bukovih sastojina i poduzimanje svih neophodnih preventivnih i represivnih mjera kako bi se zdravstveno stanje ovih sastojina unaprijedilo. U okviru istraživanja analiziran je utjecaj bukove skočipipe na površinu oštećenja listova na stabalcima bukve od imaga i ličinke u ovisnosti od lokacije i položaja stabalaca bukve u sastojini (svjetlo/sjena). Lokacije istraživanja su se nalazile unutar kulture smreke, visokih šuma bukve i mješovitih šuma bukve i jele sa smrekom. Bukova skočipipa predstavlja jednog od glavnih defolijatora koji se javljaju na stablima bukve. Uzorak istraživanja čine 15 stabalaca bukve, po 5 stabalaca na tri lokacije. Na svakoj lokaciji odabrana su 3 stabalca čija krošnja je bila na svjetlu i dva stabalca čija krošnja je bila u sjeni (ukupno 9 stabalaca na svjetlu i 6 stabalaca u zasjeni). Na svakom stablu pregledavana su i mjerena oštećenja od imaga i ličinke bukove skočipipe. Ustanovljeno je da prosječna površina oštećenja lista bukve od imaga je varirala od 2-4%, a ličinke od 4-8%. Statističkim analizama je utvrđeno postojanje statistički značajnih razlika u površini oštećenja lista bukve od ličinke u ovisnosti od položaja stabalaca bukve u sastojini.

Abstract:
Debljina kore i njen udio u obujmu oblog drva predstavljaju bitne značajke u tehnološkom procesu pridobivanja drva, posebno u fazi preuzimanja drva. S obzirom da je itekako važno raspolagati s relativno točnim podacima ovih značajki kore za pojedine vrste drveća, osnovni cilj ovoga rada je istražiti navedene značajke kore bukve. Istraživanje je provedeno na području Kantona 10, a obuhvatilo je 678 stabla bukve od 10 do 85 cm promjera na prsnoj visini i od 5 do 40 m visine. Mjerenje srednjeg promjera i debljine kore obavljeno je metodom sekcioniranja, a ukupno je izmjereno 6.403 promjera i debljina kore ili 9,4 mjerenja po jednom stablu u prosjeku. Rezultati su pokazali sljedeće: a) povećanjem srednjeg promjera oblog drva dvostruka debljina kore povećava se od 6,05 mm (debljinski razred 12,5 cm) do 20,69 mm (debljinski razred 82,5 cm); b) povećanjem srednjeg promjera oblog drva udio se kore u obujmu eksponencijalno smanjuje od 9,44% (debljinski razred 12,5 cm) do 4,95% (debljinski razred 82,5 cm). ­Utvrđene razlike u komparaciji s drugim autorima koji su istraživali ove značajke kore bukve, ukazuju na važnost nastavka istraživanja i na drugim područjima u BiH. Na taj način bi se dobili pouzdaniji rezultati koji bi bili primjenjivi za cijelu državu ili parcijalno za pojedine njene dijelove, ako se razlika između područja pokaže statistički ­značajnom. Dobiveni rezultati predstavljaju nezaobilaznu polaznu osnovu za izradu tablica kore bukve i novog ­pravilnika o načinu izmjere oblog drva i utvrđivanja količina.

Abstract:
This paper examines the super typhoon Haiyan disaster as a case study that demonstrates the full complexity of multidimensional challenges, vulnerabilities, and adaptation needs of urban coastal communities at high risk of future impacts. Anchored on the Coastal Relocation Potential framework developed by Bukvic, Smith, and Zhang (2015), this qualitative research gathered data using a combination of desk research and field works in three urban coastal villages of Tacloban City highly devastated by Haiyan. Results showed that residents in urban coastal communities consider the following factors in deciding to relocate or not: a) household level socio-economic factors, b) psychosocial and physical impacts, c) post-disaster recovery concerns, and d) relocation assistance support needs. The study argues that policy-makers need proper planning, participatory consultation and great consideration to the socio-economic impacts it will cause to coastal dwellers, majority of which is urban-poor families.

Abstract:
This paper presents three different methods for beech seed quality testing. The aim of this study is to determine the correlation between the electrical conductivity test, tetrazolium test and hydrogen peroxide treatment. The seed was collected in 12 different seed stands in Serbia that are commonly used for nursery production. The seed sample used for testing was randomly taken from the total amount of the collected seed. The analysis of the obtained results included the calculation of the Pearson correlation coefficient in the statistical software package "Statistica 7". The correlation was determined between the recorded results of the seed weight and the electrical conductivity; the seed weight and the tetrazolium test; the seed weight and the hydrogen peroxide treatment; the electrical conductivity and the tetrazolium test; the electrical conductivity and the hydrogen peroxide treatment; the tetrazolium test and the hydrogen peroxide treatment. Based on the conducted researches it can be concluded that the standardization of the electrical conductivity test using the tetrazolium test and hydrogen peroxide treatment could contribute to a more quality and more comprehensive determination of the beech seed quality for commercial purposes.

Abstract:
According to EUNIS classification, the analysed stands belong to a mixed beech-fir forest type (G4.61). The soils are eutric cambisol, eutric rankers, distric cambisol and luvisol. 65 plants were identified, out of which 6 tree species, 9 shrub species and 50 ground flora species. The ecological indices have the following averages values: humidity from 2.90 to 3.00, soil chemical reaction from 2.71 to 3.15, nutrient matter from 2.55 to 2.83, light from 2.28 to 2.60 and temperature from 2.56 to 3.07. Out of the total number of recorded plants, 29, that is, 46.0% are medicinal, namely; 4 species come under healing class one, 2 come under healing class two, 11 come under healing class three, 6 come under healing class four and 6 come under healing class five. The following fruit tree species were identified: Vaccinium myrtillis, Crataegus monogyna, Fragaria vesca, Sorbus aucuparia, Lonicera nigra, Rubus hirtus, Sorbus austriacus. 24 melliferous plants were recorded in beech and fir forests, out of which 6 woody, 6 shrub and 10 herbaceous plants. The highest number of melliferous plants blossom in May. The beech and fir forest was recorded on 464.09 hectares. The total volume is 161,015 m3 . The trees with a diameter lower than 30 cm account for 51.5%.

Tokom tri vegetacione sezone mereni su fiziološkiparametri: fotosinteza, transpiracija,  efikasnostiskorištavanja  vode (WUE), kao i parametribioprodukcije na odabranim šumskimpopulacijama bukve  (Fagus sylvatica  L.), smrče(Picea abies (L.) Kartsen) i jele (Abies alba Mill.),čija su staništa na različitim nadmorskim visinamasa različitom  dostupnošću vode u zemljištu.Određivana je i zavisnost između položaja šumskezajednice na padini planine (nadmorska visina inagib) i fotosinteze, odnosno bioprodukcijebiljaka. Cilj istraživanja je bio da se preciznodefiniše mogući dalji trend geografskogpomeranja staništa odabranih biljnih vrsta koji je ukorelaciji sa morfo-fiziološkim  adaptivnimodgovorom biljaka na promenu ekoloških uslovaživotne sredine.  Fotosintetička aktivnost tokomvegetacione sezone bila je stabilna ili sepovećavala pri optimalnoj vlažnosti zemljišta. Nalokalitetima Tara i Kopaonik količinaatmosferskih padavina nije igrala određujućuulogu u dinamici fotosintetičke asimilacije CO2.Vlažnost zemljišta je na ovim lokalitetima bilavisoka i stabilna zbog dreniranja vode sa  okolnihbrda. Registrovane razlike u dinamici fotosintezeizmeđu ispitivanih vrsta povezane su sa različitimživotnim ciklusom listopadnih i četinarskih vrsta isa različitim fiziološkim adaptacionimstrategijama na promene faktora spoljašnjesredine. Na dinamiku fotosintetičke asimilacijeCOsignifikantno utiče prosečna temperaturavazduha pre i tokom merenja, prosečnaosmonedeljna količina padavina pre merenja,količina padavina na dan merenja, kao imomentalna vlažnost zemljišta (MVZ). Rezultatiistraživanja ukazuju da će dejstvo klimatskihpromena biti više izraženo na šumskimpopulacijama koje se nalaze na  vršnim,grebenskim lokalitetima većih nadmorskih visina,ili na padinama planina. Sušni periodi tokomvegetacione sezone, značajan su faktor pomeranjašuma planinskih lokaliteta. Bukove šume su dobroadaptirane na sušu i dobro podnose temperaturnistres, međutim, dugi periodi sa oskudnimpadavinama izazivaju smanjenje asimilacije CO2što ograničava značaj šuma u ublažavanjuklimatskih promena.
During three vegetation seasons,  physiologicalparameters, such as  photosynthesis,  transpiration,water use efficiency  (WUE), as well as the parametersof bioproduction of the  beech (Fagus  sylvatica  L.),spruce (Picea  abies  (L.) Kartsen) and  fir (Abies  albaMill.)  forest populations  have  been investigateddepending on different altitude  mountain.  Therelationship between  the photosynthesis  (andbioproduction)  of plants  and the  slope of the mountainis  also specified  according to  ecological parameters(water  regime and temperature.  The aim of thisresearch is to define physiological status of forestmountain ecosystems in relation to the ecologicalconditions and predict further trend of geographic shiftof the habitats, which is in  correlation with the  plantmorpho-physiological adaptation responses onenvironmental  changes.  Photosynthetic activityduring vegetation season was stable or increased  inoptimal level of soil moisture  conditions. On thelocalities of Tara and Kopaonik the quantity ofatmospheric precipitation did not play a determiningrole in the dynamics of photosynthetic assimilation ofCO2. On these localities soil moisture was high andstable as a result of water running off fromsurrounding mountains.  Detected differences in thedynamics of photosynthesis of the tested species areresult of  various lifecycles of  deciduous andconiferous trees and various physiological adaptationstrategies.  The most influential effects on thedynamics of the photosynthesis of the  beech,  spruceand fir plants during the vegetation season were thefollowing abiotic factors: average air temperaturebefore measuring, temperature on the day ofmeasuring,  eight-week amount of averageprecipitation before measuring, amount ofprecipitation  on the day of measuring  and  soilhumidity. The analysis of the physiological parametersof the beech populations of various mountain  altitudesshow that even if beech is sensitive to draught it hasthe physiological potential to keep its vitality byefficient managing water.  Effect of climatic changeswill be more expressed in forests that can be found onhigh  altitude mountain reefs and peaks.  Beech foreststolerate temperature  and drought  stress, but longperiods of  poor  precipitation  cause the decrease ofCOassimilation which consequently decreases theirimportance in the global reduction of atmosphericCO2, i.e. limits their role in the  moderation  of climatechange.
