The bundling of food items has the potential to increase profits in the grocery sector, particularly for fresh produce, which often has lower profit margins. The energy of such a bundle of strings is described by its extrinsic geometry, and it involves both torsion and curvature contributions. This leads to ordinary four-dimensional field theories, that describe the bundles of strings in terms of closed knotted solitons. Examples of field theories that can be constructed in this manner include the Faddeev model and the Skyrme model.

Cytochalasin is known to inhibit cytoplasmic streaming rapidly in characean cells without disassembling their actin bundles. Lower cytochalasin concentrations than those needed for streaming inhibition are now shown to disrupt bundle assembly and, over longer periods, assembled bundles. After local wounding, cytochalasin limited bundle regeneration to the production of polygons and straight, discontinuous bundles that rarely connected to bundles outside the wound. The regenerated bundles supported only scattered organelle movements, whereas long, oriented bundles of control cells were connecte

Background The biomechanical functions of the anterolateral and posteromedial bundles of the posterior cruciate ligament over the range of flexion of the knee joint remain unclear. Hypothesis The posterior cruciate ligament bundles have minimal length at low flexion angles and maximal length at high flexion angles. Study Design Descriptive laboratory study. Methods Seven knees from normal, healthy subjects were scanned with magnetic resonance, and 3-dimensional models of the femur, tibia, and posterior cruciate ligament attachment sites were created. We investigate functorial properties of two hermitian line bundles over the moduli space of flat SU(n)-connections on a closed oriented surface; that is, of the Chern–Simons line bundle and the determinant line bundle. We investigate actions of cyclic subgroups of the mapping class group on them. As a consequence, we show that if we modify the determinant line bundle by the Hodge bundle over the moduli space of Riemann surfaces, then these line bundles are functorially isomorphic. This implies two quantum Hilbert spaces defined by the Chern–Simons line bundle and the modified determinant line

Abstract We investigate stratified-algebraic vector bundles on a real algebraic variety X. A stratification of X is a finite collection of pairwise disjoint, Zariski locally closed subvarieties whose union is X. A topological vector bundle ξ on X is called a stratified-algebraic vector bundle if, roughly speaking, there exists a stratification {\mathcal{S}} of X such that the restriction of ξ to each stratum S in {\mathcal{S}} is an algebraic vector bundle on S. In particular, every algebraic vector bundle on X is stratified-algebraic. It turns out that stratified-algebraic vector bundles have

Graded bundles are a particularly nice class of graded manifolds and represent a natural generalization of vector bundles. By exploiting the formalism of supermanifolds to describe Lie algebroids, we define the notion of a weighted[Formula: see text]-connection on a graded bundle. In a natural sense weighted [Formula: see text]-connections are adapted to the basic geometric structure of a graded bundle in the same way as linear [Formula: see text]-connections are adapted to the structure of a vector bundle. This notion generalizes directly to multi-graded bundles and in particular we present t

Spatial and temporal properties of head movement are encoded by vestibular hair cells in the inner ear. One of the most striking features of these receptors is the orderly structural variation in their mechanoreceptive hair bundles, but the functional significance of this diversity is poorly understood. We tested the hypothesis that hair bundle structure is a significant contributor to hair bundle mechanics by comparing structure and steady-state stiffness of 73 hair bundles at varying locations on the utricular macula. Our first major finding is that stiffness of utricular hair bundles varies

Previous quality improvement (QI) research has focused on the development of bundled measures of preventative services delivery, but these bundles have not been studied on a population level. AbstractPosterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injuries are often encountered in the setting of other knee pathology and sometimes in isolation. A thorough understanding of the native PCL anatomy is crucial in the successful treatment of these injuries. The PCL consists of two independent bundles that function in a codominant relationship to perform the primary role of resisting posterior tibial translation relative to the femur. A secondary role of the PCL is to provide rotatory stability. The anterolateral (AL) bundle has a more vertical orientation when compared with the posteromedial (PM) bundl

This paper proposes novel triangular cross sectioned geometry of carbon nanotube (CNT) bundles for crosstalk and hence, delay reduction in CNT bundle interconnects for VLSI circuits. We formulate the equivalent single conductor (ESC) transmission line models of the interconnects and show that the coupling capacitance of triangular bundle is 29% lesser than the traditionally used square bundles of carbon nanotube interconnects. We further simulate the proposed ESC models of capacitively coupled CNT bundle interconnects using Smart SPICE and find that the crosstalk induced delay of triangular in

The burgeoning digital economy is characterized by bundled offers of goods and services, many with near-zero marginal cost, in highly concentrated markets often exhibiting competition ‘for the market’ and ‘winner-takes-all’ outcomes. Acceptable competitive behaviour in these markets likely differs substantially from that in markets for goods with standard economic characteristics. The suitability of current tools used to specify and enforce competition laws for governing commercial activity in a digital economy dominated by bundled offers is questionable.
