El proyecto tiene como objetivo principal determinar la factibilidad de la creación de Wagyu Burger Bar, restaurante bar innovador con servicios personalizados y especializados en la ciudad de Antofagasta. Wagyu Burger Bar, busca satisfacer las necesidades de un nicho de mercado selecto y exclusivo, ubicado específicamente en la costanera sur de la ciudad de Antofagasta, en donde se busca ofrecer un espacio de distracción y esparcimiento, es decir, un sitio innovador con los más altos estándares de calidad en sus servicios y productos entregados. La forma de alimentarse ha variado con el correr de los tiempos, ya que cada día las personas piensan más en su salud y su bienestar y por ende la selección de los alimentos se basa en éste concepto. Es por esto que se está comenzando a desarrollar un nuevo estilo de consumo basado en la comida gourmet, cada vez fabricada con productos premium más frescos y orgánicos. En el mundo moderno las personas buscan más aquello que les place y les produce goce, como la buena comida. Salir a comer o almorzar se volvió cotidiano, dejó de ser algo para celebrar. En las grandes ciudades del país, la gente trabaja lejos de sus casas y encuentra en el restaurante un espacio para socializar y hacer negocios. On présente dans ce mémoire de thèse quelques résultats nouveaux relevant du domaine de l’optique géométrique non linéaire sur-critique. Le cadre est fourni par les systèmes de type Burger en présence d’une contrainte de divergence nulle. On obtient dans ce contexte une classification complète de toutes les oscillations de grande amplitude qui sont localement solutions d’Euler incompressible (sans pression). Ces solutions sont principalement caractérisées par la nilpotence des matrices Jacobiennes associées. Notre approche repose sur une analyse BKW atypique dont un des ressorts est une bonne compréhension de la géométrie des phases portant les singularitésIn this work, we construct large amplitude oscillating waves which are local solutions on some open domain of the time-space of both the three dimensional Burger equations (without source term) and the incompressible Euler equations (without pressure). The solutions are mainly characterized by the fact that the corresponding Jacobian matrices are nilpotent. Our approach consists in performing some nonusual WKB analysis. The main difficulity is to understand what is the geometry of the phases brought into play

En el mundo de hoy, donde el ingreso per cápita de los chilenos ha crecido de manera exponencial los últimos años1, y donde la industria alimenticia (productores, distribuidores y empresas de servicios) ha demostrado su competitividad con una serie de innovaciones, es cuando se está valorizando el retorno a lo natural. Comidas orgánicas, endulzantes naturales, restaurantes que trabajan con materiales nobles y programas gubernamentales que incentivan a los consumidores a alimentarse de manera nutritiva y natural, es donde este Plan de Marketing busca demostrar una nueva e interesante propuesta de valor. Tomando una materia prima nutritiva, exótica y natural como es la carne de lombriz, es que se puede seguir mejorando la calidad nutricional de los chilenos con un producto nuevo. Si bien las lombrices son altamente aceptadas como alimento en Asia, y algunas culturas indígenas centro y suramericanas, por su alto valor nutricional, la mayoría de las personas desconocen este hecho. Dado que este invertebrado es terrestre y se alimenta de materia orgánica en descomposición, la mayoría de las personas demuestran aversión hacia su consumo, sin embargo, existe un segmento (el de los deportistas) que valora su beneficio proteico y bajo contenido en grasas, y está dispuesto a consumirlo. Considerando que el mundo exige que las tareas y oficios de la cotidianidad se desarrollen a un ritmo rápido, práctico y simple, el formato seleccionado para ser consumida la carne de lombriz es la hamburguesa, la cual se asocia a esos valores de la vida moderna, por tanto el Plan de Marketing que se presenta a continuación dilucida quiénes serán los consumidores de este tipo de producto, cómo se les presentará la oferta, tanto en el formato como su presentación, dónde se encuentran los canales de distribución y los medios de información, y por qué deben consumir un alimento altamente proteico. Con claros objetivos de marketing y venta, y con una alta inversión en promoción del producto, es que las hamburguesas de lombrices se posicionarán de una manera tal que refleje su estrategia, el valor agregado que representa, y el precio que el segmento de deportistas valora de esta nueva propuesta que estará dispuesta en canales exclusivos de venta para diferenciarse de su competencia y generar así un mayor consumo.

CoordenaÃÃo de AperfeÃoamento de Pessoal de NÃvel SuperiorA pesquisa desenvolvida nesta dissertaÃÃo tem por objetivo fundamental analisar a sociedade civil-burguesa no pensamento de Karl Marx. Desta forma, perpassaremos por diversas obras de Marx pertinentes a esta temÃtica, desde o juvenil ensaio de 1843, conhecida por CrÃtica da Filosofia do Direito de Hegel, atà sua madura obra O Capital, de 1867. Delineia-se, entÃo, que a metodologia privilegiada à a pesquisa bibliogrÃfica, eminentemente teÃrica. Reconhecendo que Marx passou por um profundo processo de influÃncia e revisÃo filosÃfica, especialmente das filosofias de Hegel e Feuerbach, a primeira problemÃtica a enfrentar versarà sobre os pressupostos teÃricos do desenvolvimento marxiano do conceito de sociedade civil-burguesa. Sendo assim, preliminarmente, perpassaremos pela filosofia de Hegel, por meio da obra PrincÃpios da Filosofia do Direito, de 1820. Em seguida, abordaremos a filosofia materialista de Feuerbach, detidamente nas obras PrincÃpios da Filosofia do Futuro (1843) e Para a CrÃtica da Filosofia de Hegel (1839). Em seguida, passaremos pelas obras filosÃficas de Marx conhecidas como de juventude. Essas obras serÃo a CrÃtica da Filosofia do Direito de Hegel, IntroduÃÃo à CrÃtica da Filosofia do Direito de Hegel (1844) e Sobre a QuestÃo Judaica (1843). Serà importante abordar a problemÃtica sobre as influÃncias das filosofias de Hegel e Feuerbach, pois no prÃximo momento, ou seja, no segundo capÃtulo, serà abordada a crÃtica de Marx à especulaÃÃo neohegeliana, vinculando-a ao posicionamento marxiano acerca da sociedade civil-burguesa, utilizando a obra de Marx A Sagrada FamÃlia ou A CrÃtica da CrÃtica CrÃtica: Contra Bruno Bauer e Consortes, de 1845. Dando prosseguimento, a pesquisa dissertativa enfrentarà a problemÃtica histÃrica e econÃmica de Marx relacionada à sociedade civil-burguesa por meio dos Manuscritos EconÃmico-FilosÃficos, escritos em 1844. Nesta mesma perspectiva, a prÃxima obra a ser explorada serà A Ideologia AlemÃ. Nesta obra, escrita entre 1845 e 1846, em conjunto com Engels, encontraremos a conceituaÃÃo acabada da sociedade civil-burguesa em Marx, considerada na concretude da esfera de produÃÃo. Por fim, encerraremos este estudo problematizando a sociedade civil-burguesa em seu funcionamento. Conforme esclarece Marx no prefÃcio da ContribuiÃÃo à CrÃtica da Economia PolÃtica (1859), a anatomia da sociedade civil-burguesa à encontrada na economia polÃtica. EntÃo, encerrando a pesquisa, estudaremos O Capital, obra onde à possÃvel levantar a hipÃtese de que a anÃlise crÃtica de Marx sobre a economia polÃtica reafirma sua concepÃÃo filosÃfica de que a sociedade civil-burguesa como a matriz ontolÃgica do todo social.

Ett företagsekonomiskt begrepp som har växt fram under de senaste åren är franchising, inom franchising finns två parter franchisegivare och franchisegivare. Franchisekonceptet innebär att flera företag bedriver verksamhet under samma varumärke. De finns ett ömsesidigt beroende mellan dessa parter, franchisegivare är beroende av franchisetagares framgång för att själv bli framgångsrik, och franchisetagare är beroende av franchisegivare kunskap och vägledning i hur konceptet bäst ska drivas. I fallet franchising är därför varumärkesuppfattningen mellan de olika parterna en avgörande del för att skapa och förmedla en enhetlig bild av varumärket. Om en franchisegivare genom marknadsföring förmedlar en bild av varumärket medan franchisegivaren i sin verksamhet en annan bild kan varumärket försvagas och förlora sin trovärdighet. Tidigare studier inom området har främst fokuserat på kommunikation mellan franchisegivare och franchisetagare och hur denna har styrts. Vi önskar därför med denna studie studera förhållandet franchisetagare och franchisegivare utifrån de oreglerade faktorer som ligger till grund för varumärkesuppfattningen dem emellan. För att studera detta har vi valt att använda oss av en fallstudie på Burger King. Melins modell, den strategiska varumärkesplattformen, utgör den teoretiska grundstommen i vår uppsats och utifrån den har vi utformat en specifik arbetsmodell. Vår arbetsmodell är uppbyggd kring elementen produktattribut, märkesidentitet, kärnvärde, positionering och marknadskommunikation. Utifrån dessa element har vi studerat och försökt identifiera huruvida det finns en enhetlig varumärkesuppfattning hos franchisegivaren, den strategiska delen av varumärket, och franchisetagaren, den operativa delen av varumärket.
Den övergripande målsättningen för Burger King Corporation är att deras franchisetagares uppfattningar om varumärket Burger King i så hög utsträckning som möjligt ska överensstämma med hur Burger King Corporation själva uppfattar sitt varumärke och vad de vill att det ska stå för. Vi har genom vår studie funnit att det till stor del råder enighet mellan franchisetagarna och franchisegivarna och där Burger King huvudsakligen har lyckats förmedla den önskade bilden av varumärket.

Resumo: Esta dissertação passeará por discussões do corpo sobrevivente. Especificamente pelos corpos do herói e vilão na obra de história em quadrinhos ¿A queda de Murdock¿. Corpos habilidosos, de virtudes e vícios, construídos no limite das forças. Como inquietação pretendo dialogar sobre estes corpos inseridos na sociedade burguesa, na cidade, educados em estética e política por ideologias. Encontrar fragmentos e permanências no tempo destes corpos ocidentais urbanos, e ao me deparar com sinais nestes corpos, tentar entender o corpo no limiar, a beleza e os valores que despertam aos olhos de quem os espreita
Abstract: This thesis walks around discussions of the survival body. More specifically over the hero¿s and villain¿s bodies in the comic book ¿Born Again¿. Skillful bodies, of virtues and addictions, built on the borders of strength. As for questioning, I intend to discuss over these bodies inserted in the burgher society, in the city, educated in aesthetics and politics by ideologies. To find fragments and permanence in the time of this western urban bodies, and by facing signals in such bodies, to try to understand the body in its margins, the beauty and values which arise before the eyes of those who watch them

A componente perpendicular à costa das correntes nas plataformas continentais é comumente menos intensa e energética do que a componente paralela. Entretanto, elas são importantes no contexto da circulação normal à costa e da troca de água entre plataformas continentais e oceano aberto. Este trabalho teve por finalidade compreender o comportamento das correntes perpendiculares à costa na parte setentrional da Plataforma Continental Sudeste Brasileira (PCSE). Para tal, utilizou-se quatro anos de dados de correntometria do projeto DEPROAS em fundeios de 50, 100 e 200 metros de profundidades nas radiais de Cabo Frio, Ubatuba e Baia de Guanabara para diversas análises e procedimentos estatísticos, assim como experimentos numéricos utilizando-se o modelo computacional sECOM. Esses dados foram comparados com parâmetros adimensionais (número de Burger) afim de descrever os principais padrões de resposta dessas correntes às diversas condições nos espectros temporais e espaciais. O número de Burger (S) é um bom parâmetro para descrever o a dinâmica perpendicular na PCSE. Regiões com S próximo ou maior do que um (principalmente próximas ao talude) transportam água, para a plataforma principalmente acima da camada de fundo, devido ao rápido desligamento da camada de Ekman (períodos menores do que os subinerciais). Consequentemente, nas regiões dos fundeios das isóbatas de 200 metros, registrou-se a exportação de água da plataforma para o oceano aberto próximo ao fundo associados à maré diurna.The cross-shore current on continental shelves are usually less intense and energetic than the alongshore current. However, they are important in characterizing the cross shelf circulation and the exchange of water between the continental shelf and the open ocean. This paper aims to understand the behavior of cross-shore currents on the northern part of the Southeast Brazilian Continental Shelf. It was used four years of current data from DEPROAS project\'s moorings (50, 100 and 200 meters depths) from cross-sections in Cabo Frio, Ubatuba and Guanabara Bay. Those data were statistically treated and analyzed. In addition, it was conducted numerical experiments with sECOM computational model. Those data were compared with dimensionless parameters (Burger number) in order to describe the main response patterns of them during different temporal and spatial conditions. The Burger number (S) is a good parameter to describe the cross-shelf dynamics in the studied area. When S is near or greater than one (especially near the slope) the water fluxes directed to the platform occurs mainly above the bottom layer due to the rapid shutdown of Ekman layer. Consequently, nearby the 200 meters isobaths, the water is exported to the open ocean near seabed associated with diurnal tide.

In ihren Jahrbüchern publizieren die Staatlichen Schlösser, Burgen und Gärten Sachsen (seit 2002 Staatsbetrieb, seit 2013 gemeinnützige GmbH) neuere Forschungen zu ihren Objekten, aber auch darüber hinaus zu Schlössern, Burgen und Gärten in Sachsen, ergänzt durch Ausstellungs- und Jahresberichte. Das Themenspektrum umfasst vor allem die Bau- und Nutzungsgeschichte, Denkmalpflege und Restaurierung, Architektur und Ausstattung, Kunstwerke und Sammlungen, Museologie und Ausstellungen sowie Gartenbaugeschichte, aber auch allgemeinere Beiträge zur sächsischen Landesgeschichte, zur Kultur- und Kunstgeschichte.
Die Jahrbücher sind in den Jahren von 1993 bis 2011 in 16 Ausgaben erschienen, seit dem 10. Band (2002) in neuer Gestaltung beim Sandstein-Verlag. Ab 2020 werden die Jahrbücher SBG als digitale Publikationsreihe fortgeführt.

The purpose is to find out whether the firm will be profitable and sufficiently attractive to customers in chosen market. This Master thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes the business models and current tips for business plan and starting the business. Next there is made a list of recommended structures of classical business plan from several authors. The theoretical part of the thesis also includes the definition of specifics of the fast food branch in the Czech Republic. The result of the theoretical part is author's own proposal of the structure of the business plan. In the practical part of the thesis is the business plan of the company Boy's Burger Food Truck. At the end the purpose of the Master thesis is reviewed.

Esta tese de doutorado tem como objetivo estudar a manifestação do trágico no romance do período literário do século XIX conhecido genericamente como Realismo. O objeto de estudo específico são os romances Madame Bovary e Anna Kariênina, de Flaubert e Tolstói, respectivamente. Tal escolha sustenta-se tanto no fato de que ambos os romances são produtos exemplares do chamado Realismo, quanto pelo fato de terem em comum o tema do adultério feminino, o qual, como pretendemos demonstrar em nosso estudo, estrutura a forma trágica desses romances. Essa forma trágica, como demonstraremos, é organizada em torno do conflito individual e do debate ético em relação ao sistema social. Tais leituras sobre o trágico partem de duas interpretações distintas do que é tragédia: a dos filósofos idealistas alemães pós-kantianos, tomada aqui sob a perspectiva da filosofia de Schelling, que destaca o elemento individual, a afirmação da liberdade humana e, por outro lado, a dos estudos estruturalistas da Tragédia Grega (empreendidos especialmente por Vernant e Vidal-Naquet, além de Charles Segal). Assim, pretendemos realizar uma leitura do gênero romance como forma trágica (atendo-nos ao recorte específico que analisaremos, ou seja, o romance realista novecentista, que constitui uma forma madura do romance burguês), a partir da interpretação de sua forma e de seu conteúdo, buscando apoio para essa interpretação em dois tipos de leitura relevantes para a compreensão do conceito de trágico.
This doctorate thesis intends to study the concept of tragic in the realistic novel of the nineteenth Century, more specifically in “Madame Bovary”, by Gustave Flaubert, and “Anna Kariênina”, by Liév Tolstoi. Both novels are products of the Modern Realism, and they share the theme of women adultery, which, as we intend to demonstrate in our study, is responsible for the tragic structure of these literary works. The tragic form reveals itself in the individual conflict and the ethical debate about the social system. These interpretations come from two different concepts of tragedy. The first is the one of the German idealistic philosophy, which, especially in Friedrich Schelling’s ideas, emphasizes the individual element, the affirmation of human freedom. The second one is the interpretation of the structuralist studies on Greek Tragedy (made, especially, by Vernant, Vidal-Naquet, and Charles Segal). Therefore, we intend to read the genre novel as a tragic form (considering the specific literary period we will study), interpreting its form and content through the two different concepts of tragic.

Previous issue date: 2002Esta tese analisa as construções dos conceitos de família no Recife dos anos 20 e 30, que ganharam visibilidade mediante as práticas discursivas das obras de Gilberto Freyre e do Diário de Pernambuco. Tomando como referência as obras Casa Grande & Senzala, Sobrados e Mucambos e Ordem e Progresso, investigamos como foi elaborado o conceito de família patriarcal a partir dos anos 20, momento marcado pela tensão e intensos debates intelectuais entre os termos moderno e atrasado . Nesses debates, as famílias são (re)visitadas pela imprensa e pela intelectualidade, sendo cada vez mais visível os deslocamentos da elite recifense quanto às maneiras de viver dos tempos passados. Tendo como objetivo problematizar esses deslocamentos e rupturas quanto aos hábitos da elite dita tradicional, pesquisamos no Diário de Pernambuco artigos e propagandas que evidenciavam essas mutações nas condutas de homens e de mulheres ansiosos pela novidade da ocupação de novos territórios. Através da análise de discurso, investigamos como foram elaborados, no Recife, os territórios da família burguesa. Portanto, este trabalho contextualiza o momento em que emergiram ou se tornaram mais visíveis discursos sobre a higienização do corpo e da mente, a moral e o civismo, os códigos de conduta que modelizam homens e mulheres desejosos dos artifícios modernos. Esses discursos são tecnologias que territorializam as famílias burguesas nos espaços de modernidade, mas que também provocam deslocamentos com os hábitos e valores das famílias ditas tradicionais.

This thesis focuses on the novels of Hermann Burger. It considers the experimental nature of Burger's writings as a form of opposition, or 'Verweigerung', to the restrictive discourses of Swiss nationhood expressed in the notion of 'Enge'. A central tenet of the argument advanced here is that Hermann Burger is both a very self-consciously Swiss author, and, at the same time, very self-consciously experimental; a constant tension between these two aspects of his writing is manifest in all his work. Burger was not a provincial Swiss writer. Rather, he was an eclectic writer, and this thesis will examine the manner in which his work is framed by a broad spectrum of literary and philosophical ideas current in the wider international context of literary debate which serve to challenge the narrowness of intellectual discussion and forms of representation in Switzerland. To extend the discursive possibilities of the individual within the cultural space of the nation, Burger's novels involve a radical play with form and language which blurs the boundaries between the real, the unreal and the surreal, in order to challenge notions of the 'real'. A conflict between normative modes of expression and the desire for self-expression develops which is thematically central in Burger's work. His novels present the reader with a complex set of inter-related issues: national identity; national culture; Art; nature; literature and representational strategies; art and life. The methodology adopted in this thesis reflects the belief that Burger's work is best appreciated as an eclectic mix of ideas. As Burger engages with the multifarious aspects of life and seeks to give them form, so his work is considered in relation to a broad range of theories which, taken together, provide insights into his work.

A hipótese deste trabalho origina-se da compreensão de que o Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra - MST, através de sua organicidade, é em si um espaço possível de surgimento de relações sociais que se diferenciam - na reprodução de sua existência das relações engendradas pela sociedade burguesa, criando condições para o surgimento, ainda que de forma germinal, dos fundamentos da sociedade socialista. Para compreender a abrangência desse processo, partimos de uma análise conceitual a respeito da formação do espaço sob a orientação do modo de produção e reprodução dos homens na sociedade brasileira atual, com as respectivas orientações teóricas e metodológicas da vertente do Materialismo Histórico, nas quais nos fundamentamos O pressuposto desta análise parte da compreensão de que o modo de produção capitalista gera inevitavelmente a expropriação e a exploração (Marx, 1986), condicionando os trabalhadores expropriados da possibilidade do desenvolvimento de sua condição humana pelo latifúndio das injustiças sociais, a viverem à margem desta sociedade (margem entendida como espaço fora do campo da possibilidade de usufruírem a condição humana socialmente produzida), e que, em razão dessa condição, buscam alternativas de se ressocializarem. Porém, muitas dessas alternativas se incluem na ordem trazida pelos próprios vetores que formam o espaço da sociedade capitalista, pois reforçam a degenerescência da condição humana, como o crime organizado e o narcotráfico. Outras, buscam ainda que de forma incipiente, criar um espaço diferenciado da lógica burguesa. É neste campo, o das experiências que buscam superar os marcos da sociedade do capital, que situamos o MST. A circunstância qualitativa de nossa observação, compreende esse Movimento como espaço social que em si engendra (no horizonte de sua intencionalidade) a proposição de novas relações sociais, as quais estariam pautadas pela solidariedade entre os homens, pela cooperação de uns com os outros como forma de união e na construção de uma sociedade onde não existam explorados e exploradores (MST, 1996). Sobre essas bases, o MST, nos espaços conquistados, se territorializa (Fernandes, 1999), impondo sua presença na mediação das relações sociais desenvolvidas em seu interior. A organicidade do Movimento busca construir uma identidade coletiva de reciprocidade entre a organização e homens, imprimindo uma característica unitária e classista a seus integrantes que os diferenciam na forma de se reproduzirem como classe trabalhadora camponesa.
This work is based on the hypothesis that the Brazilian Landless Workers Movement (called MST), is, in itself, an organizational environment that allows for the growth of social relations that differ--in their reproduction--from the relations borne out of the bourgeois society. The Movement, in that sense, allows for the development of earlier-stages of fundamental socialistic relations. To understand the scope of this process, we begin with a conceptual analysis of how said environment is created, based on the modes of production and reproduction of the modern Brazilian society. Our analysis is based on the Historical Materialism theoretical and methodological approach. The analysis is based on the understanding that the capitalistic mode of production inevitably creates expropriation and exploration (Marx, 1986). It denies expropriated laborers the chance to improve their human condition by way of the latifundium of social injustice. It marginalizes workers, who, in response to this condition, seek alternative means of re-socialization. However, most of these alternative means are part of the status quo maintained by the capitalistic society itself; organized crime and drug trafficking, in this sense, only sponsor the deterioration of the human condition. But other alternatives, however, aim to provide a environment outside the logic of the bourgeois society. The Landless Workers Movement is one of the latter alternatives, that is, which tries to overcome the barriers of capitalism. Our qualitative observation understands the Movement as a social space that generates (based on its objectives) new social relations, based on the solidarity and cooperation between people as a means to unite, and build a society without exploration (MST, 1996). Based on these ideals, the Movement creates new territories (Fernandes, 1999) and imposes itself as one of the mediating powers of social relations within its territorial confines. The organization of the Movement aims at building a collective identity of reciprocity, between the organization and its people. It labels all its members as one unitary class of workers, a working class of peasants.

Traditional documentary films, particularly science and natural history works, presume to authentically or legitimately convey accurate representations of historical events that actually occurred at a prior time. Factual and convincing representations are not necessarily congruent, and a film's merit of authenticity is often based on the perceived validity of the visual content represented. While visual imagery dominates a presentation's general delivery, a film's sound design is a fundamental structural element that is often overlooked or less scrutinized with regard to factual or accurate recounting of these same historical events. The purpose of this thesis is to examine methodologies of sound acquisition and reproduction and to discuss how various acoustic contents are perceived in relation to associated visual elements. While discerning viewers may notice critical discrepancies in picture contents that may invalidate a film's credibility, a complex matrix of sonic elements does not lend itself to deconstruction as easily. Thorough analysis of a science and natural history film must include an examination of its complete sound design. Consideration must be given to the ethical implications of using any synthesized or borrowed audio tracks if such a work is to be considered as "factual" documentary. The standards of acceptance or rejection should be no different than those associated with fabricating unnatural or contrived visual contents, no matter how compelling may be the end product.

During the second half of the seventeenth century, alcohol and tobacco were consumed at all levels of the social strata in the Dutch Republic. These products and their consumption were important to long standing traditions and were vital to the Dutch economy. Paradoxically, however, moralists and ministers attempted to curb intoxication by associating it with the loss of one's masculinity or femininity. Intoxicated men and women were stigmatized as morally inept, unruly, and a threat to the family, community, and even the nation. Dutch genre paintings depicting alcohol and tobacco consumption are often described as moral warnings or didactic messages, but these images were more than teaching aids for Dutch youth. The intoxicated characters in these paintings represented a larger social anxiety towards the threat of foreign invasions. Foreign labor, including soldiers, sailors, and maidservants, held a precarious position within the Republic and in Dutch homes, and these foreign workers became easy targets for moralists and ministers who sought to perpetuate the Dutch national myth of superiority through allegories of foreign otherness. There is a large body of scholarly work that explores seventeenth-century Dutch society; however, little attention has been given to the significance of alcohol and tobacco consumption. This paper addresses these concerns with a special emphasis on paintings created during the True Freedom (1650-1672). Through the examination of paintings, moral treatises, and religious sermons, I will discuss depictions of alcohol and tobacco consumption and juxtapose them to the ideal man and woman as described by moralists and ministers. For the seventeenth-century Dutch, images of alcohol and tobacco represented an insidious infection in a pristine community. But these condemnations tell us much more about the anxieties of seventeenth-century Dutch society than about the inherent evils of intoxication.

Resumo: Nessa tese eu tento explicar uma mudança formal importante no primeiro romance de Joaquim Manuel de Macedo, aquele que ele escreveu entre os anos 1844 e 1855, antes de abandonar o gênero por uma década. A meu ver, o que acontece é uma progressiva desfuncionalização da "extravagância" - termo mais do que comum nos seus livros -, que servia para caracterizar uma juventude inserida numa nova sociabilidade, mais moderna, que o país passou a viver após 1808 e, principalmente, 1822. Marcados que eram por uma polarização geracional - jovens com suas novas atitudes, de um lado, e velhos um tanto receosos dessas mudanças, do outro -, a desfuncionalização acaba por roubar o protagonismo real daqueles jovens e atribuí-los aos velhos, um movimento de que Vicentina (1853) talvez seja o melhor exemplo. Na esteira de Franco Moretti, para quem a literatura é uma das maneiras pelas quais atribuímos sentido a processos de transformações históricas, leio esse deslocamento na esteira da injunção conservadora por que passa o país nesse período: um momento que acaba por atribuir uma importância muito grande a uma autoridade centralizadora. Como resultado, o romance brasileiro atinge, em meados dos anos 1850, é um impasse formal: não há mais como Macedo reduzir o espaço dos jovens sem que isso signifique uma completa substituição dessa função literária; ou seja, sem que o protagonismo passasse efetivamente para os mais velhos, transformando o romance brasileiro no depositário de uma tradição abertamente anti-moderna. Uma perspectiva, a meu ver, nada atraente para uma nação recém-emancipada e desejosa de fazer parte do concerto do mundo
Abstract: In this PhD dissertation I try to explain an important formal change in Joaquim Manuel de Macedo's first novels, which were written between 1844 and 1855, before he abandoned the genre for almost a decade. What occurred was a progressive de-functionalization of "extravagance" - a very common expression in his books -, that was used to portray a youth inscribed in a new kind of sociability, more modern, which Brazil experienced after 1808 and mainly after 1822. As those narratives were composed according to a generational opposition - young characters behaving in accordance with a new set of rules, on one side; and the old ones a bit apprehensive about these changes, on the other -, that defunctionalization ended up stifling the real protagonism of the youth, a process of which Vicentina (1853) may be the best example. Following the steps of Franco Moretti, for whom literature is one of the ways we use to master and to understand historical changes, I read that process in the light of a conservative shift that occurred in that period: a moment which ascribed a major importance to a centralized authority. As a result, the Brazilian novel reached, around 1850's, a formal impasse: Macedo could not reduce even more the space assigned to the youth without modifying its literary function; in other words, without giving the protagonism of the narrative to the older characters, transforming the Brazilian novel into a depository of an openly anti-modern world view. This is not an attractive perspective to a nation recently emancipated and anxious to be a part of the "civilized" world

São analisadas em especial as residências localizadas nas avenidas Ana Costa e Conselheiro Nébias, novos eixos que partiram do núcleo colonial antigo e seguiram em direção às praias organizando a ocupação das novas áreas da cidade. Reconhecimento desse período como o momento em que a cidade passou por profundas transformações - econômicas, sociais e culturais - recebeu as ferrovias, foi urbanizada e saneada com sistema de canais e viu seu porto se transformar no maior exportador de café do país.Architectural study of santistas bourgeoisie dwelling during the coffee exportation peak in the end of the century XIX and beginning of the XX until 1929. A special focus is given to the houses located at avenida Ana Costa and avenida Conselheiro Nébias, the new areas that originated from the old colonial center and continued developing towards the beach direction resulting in the organization of new living areas in the city. Acknowledgment of this period as the moment through which the city went through deep changes economic, social and cultural as well as when railways were constructed, urbanization and sanitation with drainage channels took place, and when its port became the biggest coffee exporter.

This thesis has as object the image of the nineteenth-century bourgeois woman. The research used as a primary source a set of 46 anecdotes published in Aracaju newspapers between 1889 1897. The goal is to sort, examine and interpret those images with regard to the concepts of Stereotype (Marie Jahoda), Representation (Roger Chartier), Male Domination, Symbolic Violence (both by Pierre Bourdieu) and Patriarchalism (Jean-François Dortier and Gilberto Freyre). This paper adopts the methodology of Cultural History proposed by Robert Darnton (1984). The results of the research are: the jokes about women should be understood in the context of contention between the genders; the authors of the jokes fought the public behaviors of women through the ridicule; anecdotes update old stereotypes about women, and should be understood in a context where the bourgeois woman leaves home and the risk of deviations are larger. The laughter against women, expressed in jokes, is a manifestation from the so-called "male domination" and can be regarded as a representation, for it has a group origin, and it´s a weapon of political struggle between genders. Finally, the nineteenth-century anecdotes about women express an old function of the humor: punish the customs.Esta dissertação tem como objeto a imagem da mulher burguesa brasileira oitocentista. Toma como base um conjunto de 46 anedotas publicadas em jornais de Aracaju entre 1889- 1897. Seu objetivo é classificar, examinar e interpretar estas imagens valendo-se dos conceitos de estereótipo (Marie Jahoda), representação (Roger Chartier), dominação masculina, violência simbólica (ambos de Pierre Bourdieu) patriarcalismo (Jean-François Dortier). O trabalho adota a metodologia da História Cultural proposta por Robert Darnton (1984). Os resultados da pesquisa são: as piadas sobre mulheres devem ser entendidas num contexto de contenda entre os gêneros; os autores das piadas combatiam os comportamentos públicos da mulher através do ridículo; as anedotas atualizam velhos estereótipos sobre a mulher, e devem ser entendidas num contexto em que a mulher burguesa sai de casa e os riscos de desvios são maiores. O riso contra a mulher, expresso nas anedotas, é uma manifestação da chamada dominação masculina e pode ser encarado como uma representação, pois tem origem grupal, e são armas de luta política entre os gêneros. Enfim, as piadas oitocentistas sobre a mulher expressam uma velha função do humor: castigar os costumes.

Dissertação de Mestrado Integrado em Arquitetura, com a especialização em Arquitetura apresentada na Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade de Lisboa para obtenção do grau de Mestre.Desde o teatro da época clássica aos novos teatros do século XXI, é inegável a relação íntima entre as configurações destes espaços e os seus enquadramentos histórico-culturais. Trata-se não só de espaços que, como todos os demais, são produtos culturais, como espaços concebidos com o propósito de produção cultural e artística, eles próprios. Em A Presença e Reinvenção dos Grandes Espaços de Cena da cidade burguesa, pretende-se olhar para as preexistências da cidade do século XIX como mote para a reabilitação e revitalização dos edifícios e da envolvente, respetivamente. O trabalho assenta numa reflexão crítica sobre a importância de pensar estes espaços, que hoje evidenciam limitações técnicas e programáticas, e contribuir para a sua aproximação ao público e às dinâmicas culturais do presente século. Parte-se do princípio, amplamente consensual, de que os Novos teatros da cidade burguesa devem abrir portas à cidade e ao público – não exclusivamente ao que assiste às representações teatrais – mas ao público que se interessa por museus, por arquitetura, pelo património edificado da cidade. O exercício de projeto assume uma possibilidade de reabilitação do Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, edifício neoclássico inaugurado em 1846, como espaço de cena a ser reinventado.
ABSTRACT: From the classical theaters to the 21st century’s, the intimate connection between the shaping of these spaces and their historical and cultural frameworks is undeniable. Meaning these spaces aren’t just cultural products, as every other building; but spaces conceived with the purpose of cultural and artistic production themselves. Presence and Reinvention of the Great Scene Spaces of the Bourgeois City intends to look at the preexistences of the 19th century as the impulse for the rehabilitation and revitalization of the main buildings and their surroundings, respectively. The basis for this work is a critical reflexion on the importance of considering these sites that became technically and programmatically challenged, and promote their connection to the public and the present century’s dynamics. We start by the widely acknowledged assumption that the New theaters of the bourgeois city should welcome the city and the public - not only those who go to the theater, but also those interested in museums, architecture and the city’s built heritage. This project exercise takes on the responsibility of rehabilitating the D. Maria II National Theater, a neoclassical building from 1846, as a scene space to be reinvented.
