It is effective to open the bus-coupler circuit breaker in case of a short-circuit fault. A fast vacuum circuit breaker (FVCB) is an ideal bus-coupler circuit breaker due to its high velocity. The objective of this study was to develop and test a 252 kV/2500 A-40 kA multi-break bus-coupler FVCB. The 252 kV FVCB contained 12 FVCB units. Each phase consisted of four FVCB units connected in series. Each FVCB unit had an electromagnetic repulsion mechanism with an average opening velocity reaching 6.5 m/s. Test results showed the opening time was 1.11 ± 0.08 ms. The capacitance of the voltage grading capacitor of each break was determined to be 10 nF. The prototype 252 kV bus-coupler FVCB passed all partial test duties according to the IEC 62271-100: 2008 and IEC 62271-1: 2007 standards, which include an insulation test and a terminal fault test among others. A 252 kV/2500 A-40 kA multi-break bus-coupler FVCB can be used to quickly cut off a short-circuit fault and effectively limit a short-circuit current.

IntroductionRecent research on the obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) has emphasis on the moderating effects of the brain behavioral mechanisms.ObjectivesThe main purpose of this research was to examine the Gray's brain behavioral systems (1994) among the obsessive-compulsive disordered patients.AimsMy aim of this research was to examine the Gray's brain behavioral systems (1994) among the obsessive-compulsive disordered patients.MethodsParticipants were included 20 obsessive-compulsive patients and 20 normal individuals who were selected respectively by available sampling and counter balance sampling methods on the basis of the age, sex and education variables. The average of participant's ages was 29/85 (SD = 7/37). All subjects were completed the Gray-Wilson Questionnaire and data were extracted for the three systems of BAS, BIS and FFS and also for its six measures of approach, active avoidance, passive avoidance, extinction, fight and flight separately.ResultsA multivariate analysis of variance, for comparing six measures of the Gray-Wilson questionnaire were shown significantly differences for Behavioral Activation System (BAS) and also for Behavioral Inhibition System (BIS). Pairwise comparisons were shown a higher Behavioral- Inhibition system (BIS) and a lower Behavioral- Activation system (BAS) in obsessive -compulsive patients than normal individuals. No significant difference was found for Fight- Flight system (FFS).ConclusionsThese results were suggested higher BIS and lower BAS activity as moderator of OCD. This results supported the reinforcement sensitivity theory (RST) conveying a higher tendency to the punishment and elimination of the reward in anxious person as a consequence of Behavioral-Inhibition System (BIS).

Abstract In this article, we give an overview of the development of an asymmetric optical bus coupler (AOBC) from the theoretical basis, the optical continuous wave, and bit rate performance to the implementation in a 3-D-Opto-MID package. The coupler allows for an interruption-free and bidirectional connection between two multimode waveguides, with different coupling ratios at the same node up to an aspect ratio of 5:1 depending on the coupling direction. For the first time, data transmission up to 12.5 Gbit/s is demonstrated with the AOBC, as well as the full implementation of the coupling element into a 3-D-Opto-MID package including an electrical test circuit.

Abstract:
This study develops a dynamic bus arrival time prediction model using the data collected by the automatic vehicle location and automatic passenger counter systems. It is based on the Kalman filter algorithm with a two-dimensional state variable in which the prediction error in the most recent observation is used to optimize the arrival time estimate for each downstream stop. The impact of schedule recovery is considered as a control factor in the model to reflect the driver's schedule recovery behavior. The algorithm performs well when tested with a set of automatic vehicle location–automatic passenger counter data collected from a real-world bus route. The algorithm does not require intensive computation or an excessive data preprocessing effort. It is a promising approach for real-time bus arrival time prediction in practice.

Abstract:
The average passenger boarding and alighting times and bus dwell times at stops are important information for estimating transit service capacities. Bus dwell time directly affects vehicle travel time, and thus the fleet size required to provide service based on scheduled headway is affected. Research focused on estimating bus dwell time and the impact of boarding and alighting passengers on dwell time. In addition, the effect of standees, time of day, and service type on bus dwell time was investigated. The data were recently collected from an archived database, within which automatic passenger counter information was recorded. The dwell times and passenger counts were recorded daily during 2001 and the first 6 months of 2002. The bus dwell time and average passenger boarding and alighting time at stops are explained using descriptive statistics.

Abstract:
Urban transit services face a number of challenges from space constraints, congestion, and delays, among other issues. Implementing bus priority at traffic signals or providing exclusive operating space for buses can increase the attractiveness of taking the bus and thereby encourage ridership. The City of Cambridge, Massachusetts, was looking to pilot such interventions to demonstrate benefits of bus ridership, but needed a prioritized list of route segments with the largest levels of excess travel time to do so. Three metrics were used to evaluate delay: vehicle delay, overall passenger delay, and system reliability. These three metrics were combined into a single composite rating system for each segment and used to identify route segments along which buses experienced the most delay. The City of Cambridge analyzed high-ridership bus routes with automatic passenger counter data to identify segments along the route where buses experienced substantial delay. The next step for this project is to conduct an on-site field visit of targeted segments to develop potential bus prioritization proposals for each. This paper outlines the method developed to calculate bus delay by segment and presents results for one route analyzed.

Abstract:
This study made use of automated vehicle location and automated passenger counter data to simulate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of an interregional bus route in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The authors analyzed bus performance and emissions as well as quantified emissions under the effects of operational improvements (increasing speed and reducing idling) and different fuels (conventional diesel, compressed natural gas, and biodiesel). Average total trip emissions were 54 kg per bus, with emissions higher in the morning peak period than in the afternoon peak period. Emissions rates on the highway portion of the corridor were lower than emissions rates for the arterial portions, with mean values of 1,627 g/km and 1,993 g/km, respectively. The authors observed that the addition of each passenger influenced bus emissions per passenger differently; when the bus was less crowded, each additional passenger could decrease emissions per passenger by 7%, but that reduction becomes 1.3% when the bus is crowded. Finally, the study results estimated that operational improvements could reduce emissions by 22%, whereas switching to compressed natural gas without speed improvements could reduce emissions by 6%. The effects of emissions reduction strategies are highly dependent on the characteristics of the bus and drive cycle. These results are useful to transit planners in the selection of appropriate GHG reduction strategies as well as in the selection of candidate corridors (highway versus arterial routes) for fleet renewal.

Abstract:
The diffusion of connected devices in modern vehicles involves a lack in security of the in-vehicle communication networks such as the controller area network (CAN) bus. The CAN bus protocol does not provide security systems to counter cyber and physical attacks. Thus, an intrusion-detection system to identify attacks and anomalies on the CAN bus is desirable. In the present work, we propose a distance-based intrusion-detection network aimed at identifying attack messages injected on a CAN bus using a Kohonen self-organizing map (SOM) network. It is a power classifier that can be trained both as supervised and unsupervised learning. SOM found broad application in security issues, but was never performed on in-vehicle communication networks. We performed two approaches, first using a supervised X–Y fused Kohonen network (XYF) and then combining the XYF network with a K-means clustering algorithm (XYF–K) in order to improve the efficiency of the network. The models were tested on an open source dataset concerning data messages sent on a CAN bus 2.0B and containing large traffic volume with a low number of features and more than 2000 different attack types, sent totally at random. Despite the complex structure of the CAN bus dataset, the proposed architectures showed a high performance in the accuracy of the detection of attack messages.

The design of a proportional, derivative, and integral (PID) based power system stabilizer (PSS) is carried out using the bat algorithm (BA). The design of proposed PID controller is considered with an objective function based on square error minimization to enhance the small signal stability of nonlinear power system for a wide range of operating conditions. Three benchmark power system models as single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) power system, two-area four-machine ten-bus power system, and IEEE New England ten-machine thirty-nine-bus power system are considered to examine the effectiveness of the designed controller. The BA optimized PID based PSS (BA-PID-PSS) controller is applied to these benchmark systems, and the performance is compared with controllers reported in literature. The robustness is tested by considering eight plant conditions of each system, representing the wide range of operating conditions. It includes unlike loading conditions and system configurations to establish the superior performance with BA-PID-PSS over-the-counter controllers.

Abstract:
In this article, we present a coupling concept for an interruption-free asymmetric bidirectional optical bus coupler for board and module level. With this approach, it is possible to connect several electro-optical devices to a single waveguide. A core-to-core connection principle is used, where the cores get into physical contact at their side faces. The coupling ratio can be tuned by adjusting the overlap area of the two cores with different contact pressures. Because of a bending in one of the waveguides, it is possible to achieve a specific asymmetric coupler design, where the coupling ratio depends on the coupling direction (bent waveguide to rigid one or vice versa). To derive design rules for prototyping, a simulation is performed using two different independent approaches for cross-checking. With a ray tracing simulation, coupling ratios and energy distribution within the bent core are analyzed. In addition, a simulation with the beam propagation method is used to take wave optical effects into account as well as to establish a holistic view on the coupling concept.

Recent studies have focused on challenging deficit narratives and discourses perpetuating the criminalization of Latino men and boys. But even with this emerging literature, mainstream counter-narratives of young Latino boys and their attitudes towards manhood and masculinity stand in stark contrast to the dangerous and animalistic portrayals of Latino boys and men in the media and society. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the authors draw on the notion of counter-storytelling to explore how Latino boys try to reframe masculinity, manhood, and what they label as ‘responsible manhood.’ Counter-storytelling and narratives provide a platform from which to challenge the discourse, narratives, and imaginaries guiding the conceptualization of machismo. In their counter-narratives, Latino boys critiqued how they are raced, gendered, and Othered in derogatory ways.

The compound is isostructural with [Ru(C10H8N2)2(C5H6N2)2](ClO4)2·CH3CN [Duanet al.(1999).J. Coord. Chem.46, 301–312] and both structures are stabilized by classical hydrogen bonds between 4Apy ligands as donors and counter-ions and acetonitrile solvent molecules as acceptors. Indeed, N—H...F interactions give rise to an intermolecularly locked assembly of two centrosymmetric complex molecules and two PF6−counter-ions, which can be considered as the building units of both crystal architectures. The building blocks are connected to one another through hydrogen bonds between 4Apy and the connecting pieces made up of two centrosymmetric motifs with PF6−ions and acetonitrile molecules, giving rise to ribbons running parallel to [011]. 21-Screw-axis-related complex molecules and PF6−counter-ions alternate in helical chains formed along theaaxis by means of these contacts.

Abstract:
The Universal Serial Bus has become a dominant interface for the connection of standard peripheral devices to a PC computer. This paper analyzes the possibilities of USB bus applications in the field of measurement and environmental monitoring. As a result, a gamma radiation monitor consisting of an USB-based universal peripheral device and a gamma probe with a GM counter, has been designed. For the interfacing monitor with the powerful and easy to use LabVIEW software package, an instrument driver as a set of virtual instruments has been developed. The proposed monitor is a flexible instrument which can be used for laboratory measurements, as an environ mental radiation monitor or for training purposes. Connected to the laptop computer, the monitor becomes a portable instrument suitable for field measurements. Basic measurements and functionality properties of the radiation monitor are presented here.

Abstract:
Findings from a study assessing the accuracy and precision of automatic passenger counter (APC) technology at Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (Tri-Met) are presented. Video surveillance cameras, rather than ride checkers, were used to establish reference values for determining APC accuracy and precision. Analysis of data collection, processing, and reporting methods at Tri-Met indicates that APC data, along with a properly designed sampling plan, can be used for internal monthly ridership reporting and annual national transit database (NTD) reporting. Presently, NTD sampling plans require that bus trips be randomly selected before manual data collection efforts. The sampling methodology developed for this analysis allows APC data to be matched with a random selection of bus trips following automated data collection. This was made possible by the widespread deployment of APC technology at Tri-Met. For transit properties with limited APC resources, other sampling approaches are preferred.

Abstract:
Bus bunching affects transit operations by increasing passenger waiting time and variability. To tackle this phenomenon, a wide range of control strategies has been proposed. However, none of them have considered station and interstation control together. In this study station and interstation control were tackled to determine the optimal vehicle control strategy for various stops and traffic lights in a single service transit corridor. The strategy minimized the total time that users must devote to making a trip, taking into account delays for transit and general traffic users. Based on a high-frequency, capacity-constrained, and unscheduled service (no timetable) for which real-time information about bus position (GPS) and bus load (automated passenger counter) is available, this study focused on strategies for traffic signal priority in the form of green extension considered together with holding buses at stops and limiting passenger boarding at stops. The decisions on transit signal priority were made according to a rolling horizon scheme in which effects over the whole corridor were considered in every single decision. The proposed strategy was evaluated in a simulated environment under different operational conditions. Results showed that the proposed control strategy achieves reductions in the excess delay for transit users close to 61.4% compared with no control, while general traffic increases only by 1.5%.

Abstract:
The reaction-based deposition on various surfaces of an all-organic fluorescent coating is reported here, involving autoxidation of 2 mM dopamine in carbonate buffer at pH 9.0, in the presence of a 1 mM diamine–resorcinol coupler (Bis–Res) prepared from 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde and hexamethylenediamine (HMDA). Spectral analysis of the films coupled with an LC-MS investigation of the yellow fluorescent mixture was compatible with the formation and deposition of HMDA-linked methanobenzofuroazocinone fluorophores. Both the emission properties and hydrophobicity of the film were abated in a reversible manner following exposure to acid vapors. These results provide an entry to efficient and practical fluorescent coating methodologies based on in situ generation and the deposition of wet adhesive, as well as fluorescent materials combining a strongly emitting fluorophore with the film-forming properties of long chain diamines.

Abstract:
Challenging the claim that policy of gender separation on buses does not imply segregation and discrimination against women but rather an innocent concern for the cultural concept of modesty, this Paper attempts first to analyze and refute the respective arguments presented by Professor Harel by establishing counter arguments and examining counter examples which may produce different conclusions. At its second stage the paper proposes a broader field of analysis for scrutinizing the justifications for gendersegregated practices that is based on considerations of rationality. Its main thrust directs to the claim that from a liberal point of view, the difference between acceptable and non-acceptable practices should be depended upon two conditions: a) the rational justification of the practice. b) Its immunity to the burden of harm or oppression towards helpless individuals or groups. At its third and final part, the Paper attempts to produce a careful definition of the cultural meanings implied by the practice of gender separation. By proposing alternative conceptual structure of explanation, based on cultural phenomenological analysis, it aims to expose the deep discriminatory structure of power-relations between men and women in traditional societies, including the Ultra-Orthodox community, as exemplified by the practice of gender separation.

Abstract:
The rotor position of switched reluctance motor (SRM) is an essential information, and especially in high-performance SRM drive, it is important to achieve high resolution and real-time position detection. However, opto-coupler and linear encoder cant meet the demand of position detection accuracy. Moreover, if the controller detects the position directly, it is difficult to achieve a controller for remote control of the position detecting because of interference. In this paper, a novel position detecting method is proposed. Absolute encoder is used to achieve high resolution rotor position signal. MCU collects position signal from encoder, and The position information is transmitted to the master controller DSP via the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. The experimental results show that the position detecting method meet the requirement of high-precision and real-time function of high-performance SRM drive.

Abstract:
Ensuring that customers are satisfied with public transit is important, and traditionally transit agencies have assessed customer satisfaction by using questionnaires designed to collect information about users’ personal characteristics and perceptions of service. However, these questionnaires assess only individuals’ perceptions of transit services, without accounting for the service that users actually experienced. With that in mind, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the drivers of public transit satisfaction for users on the basis of an analysis of customer satisfaction questionnaires, as well as operations data obtained from automatic vehicle location and automatic passenger counter systems for an express bus route in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The goal of the paper is to understand what the main factors influencing customer satisfaction in this context are. The paper questions whether using operations data in parallel with passengers’ perception data is useful in understanding customer satisfaction. With a series of logit models, it is found that actual crowding and users’ reported satisfaction with crowding are associated with how transit users perceive overall satisfaction with the bus service. Furthermore, the models reveal that car access, age, past use, and users’ perceptions of frequency, onboard safety, and cleanliness are also positively associated with overall satisfaction. This study could be useful for public transit planners as it provides new insight into how data derived from customer satisfaction surveys and bus operations can be used to identify which modifiable components of the service can be prioritized to effectively increase riders’ overall satisfaction.

The title complex, [Rh(C10H15)Cl(C14H12N2O4)]Cl·2C4H5NO3, has been synthesized by a substitution reaction of the precursor [bis(2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl) 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxylate]chlorido(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)rhodium(III) chloride with NaOCH3. The RhIIIcation is located in an RhC5N2Cl eight-coordinated environment. In the crystal, 1-hydroxypyrrolidine-2,5-dione (NHS) solvent molecules form strong hydrogen bonds with the Cl−counter-anions in the lattice and weak hydrogen bonds with the pentamethylcyclopentadienyl (Cp*) ligands. Hydrogen bonding between the Cp* ligands, the NHS solvent molecules and the Cl−counter-anions form links in a V-shaped chain of RhIIIcomplex cations along thecaxis. Weak hydrogen bonds between the dimethyl 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxylate ligands and the Cl−counter-anions connect the components into a supramolecular three-dimensional network. The synthetic route to the dimethyl 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxylate-containing rhodium complex from the [bis(2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl) 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxylate]rhodium(III) precursor may be applied to link Rh catalysts to the surface of electrodes.

Abstract:
Operational and planning modules of energy systems heavily depend on the information of the underlying topological and electric parameters, which are often kept in database within the operation centre. Therefore, these operational and planning modules are vulnerable to cyber anomalies due to accidental or deliberate changes in the power system database model. To validate, we have demonstrated the impact of cyber-anomalies on the database model used for operation of energy systems. To counter these cyber-anomalies, we have proposed a defence mechanism based on widely accepted classification techniques to identify the abnormal class of anomalies. In this study, we find that our proposed method based on multilayer perceptron (MLP), which is a special class of feedforward artificial neural network (ANN), outperforms other exiting techniques. The proposed method is validated using IEEE 33-bus and 24-bus reliability test system and analysed using ten different datasets to show the effectiveness of the proposed method in securing the Optimal Power Flow (OPF) module against data integrity anomalies. This paper highlights that the proposed machine learning-based anomaly detection technique successfully identifies the energy database manipulation at a high detection rate allowing only few false alarms.
