Abstract:
More and more enterprises regard Information Technology (IT) as their most valuable property and make full use of IT to maximize the performance of their business operations. As a result, enterprises are attaching more importance to coordinating their IT strategy and enterprise strategy in order to get the most from their IT investment. For the sake of better IT performance and long-term development, firms must adopt a complete strategy for IT governance. In Taiwan, most financial enterprises have not considered IT governance to be a necessity, and those which are implementing IT governance have difficulty explaining, systemically, how it affects IT performance. Based on the five dimensions of IT governance, this study uses the balanced scorecard to measure IT performance and discusses the influence of effective governance on IT performance. The results show that the five dimensions of IT governance (strategic alignment, value delivery, risk management, resource management, and performance measurement) are all positively correlated with IT performance. The results of this study can help Taiwan's financial enterprises set the proper course for IT governance and more clearly understand how it serves to improve IT performance.

Abstract:
Visual analytics is increasingly being recognized as a source of competitive advantage. Yet, limited research has examined the factors deriving it organizational adoption. By integrating the technology acceptance model (TAM) with the task-technology fit (TTF) model, this research developed a model for visual analytics adoption in business enterprises. To test the research model, data was collected through a questionnaire survey distributed to 400 business professionals working in a variety of industries in Jordan. Collected data were tested and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) technique. Findings of this research confirmed the applicability of the integrated TAM/TTF model to explain the key factors that affect the adoption of visual analytics systems for work-related tasks. Specifically, the results of this research demonstrated that the task, technology, and user characteristics are fundamental and influential antecedents of TTF, which in turn has a significant positive effect on the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of visual analytics systems. Additionally, there are significant positive effects from perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use toward users' intention to adopt visual analytics systems, and a firm relationship between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of visual analytics systems. Together all these constructs explain 59.9% of the variance in user's intention to adopt visual analytics systems at the workplace. Findings of this research provide several important implications for research and practice, and thus should help in the design and development of more user-accepted visual analytics systems and applications.

Abstract:
Despite the growing popularity of self-service business intelligence (SSBI) tools, empirical research that investigates their acceptance by business professionals is still scarce. This paper presents and tests an integrated model of the antecedents of users' acceptance of SSBI tools in business enterprises. The proposed model is developed based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) and incorporating information and system quality from DeLone and McLean IS success model. It also includes an important factor from the business intelligence literature called analysis quality. To test the model, data were collected through a questionnaire survey from 331 business users working in a variety of industries in Jordan. Data were analysed using structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques. The results demonstrated that the three quality factors– information quality, system quality and analysis quality – are key antecedents of perceived usefulness and ease of use, which in turn were found to be strong predictors of users' intention to use SSBI tools. The findings of this study provide several implications for research and practice, and thus should help in the design and deployment of more user-accepted SSBI tools.

Abstract:
The subject of this research study is the applications of Information Technology (IT) to support management. This is not the sole use of IT methods and means in enterprises, however, the issues related to the automation of technological processes and software for these purposes are not the subject of these considerations. The aim of this research study is to show the innovative role of IT as a factor that enables meeting the challenges posed by managers, such as improving work efficiency, accelerating (reducing time of) handling orders, entering into competition on previously inaccessible markets, and generating the value added, which goes far beyond the capabilities of a single business entity. The business model includes collaboration unhindered by the territorial distribution of individuals, or time zone differences. The measure of effectiveness is the achieved result, and the recipient of the value thus created is not interested in where and how this value is created. Dynamically changing market expectations and the needs of recipients force the reconfiguration of the manufacturing system, which is a feature of virtual workplaces.

Abstract:
The economic development of any country is closely linked with the development of small business. Entrepreneurship is especially important for countries whose economies are in the process of structural change. The essence of small business development reflects the constant search for new opportunities, independence in making innovative decisions, perseverance and determination in their promotion in foreign and domestic markets. Given the scale of activities and narrow specialization, technology transfer is the basis of innovative activities of small businesses and a means of their sustainable development, a guarantee of profit and social impact. The purpose of the article is to identify information and communication tools for technology transfer for the development of innovative activities of small businesses. Accelerating the development of information and communication technologies, their penetration into all spheres of society, has made significant changes in the conditions of origin and implementation of entrepreneurial activity. There are new forms of relations between producers and consumers, managers and staff, between business partners. Information and communication technologies means a systemically connected set of methods and means of intellectual work associated with the search, accumulation, processing and protection of information, as well as its exchange between participants in joint activities. Practice shows that small enterprises carry out ICT transfer and use them in their activities (commercialize), receive additional opportunities. To achieve optimal results, technology transfer, like any other business activity, requires attention, flexible approaches and integration into the overall strategy of innovative development. The direction of further research is an empirical study of the results of technology transfer by local enterprises.

Abstract:
This paper argues that business enterprises in this competitive global market cannot compete and remain sustainable without effective knowledge sharing to improve business intelligence processes. The central argument hinges on the deployment and use of information technology (IT) as strategic tools to promote business decision making through quick business data analysis and dissemination of business ideas across business units and locations. The study reiterated the critical role IT plays in facilitating a culture of organizational learning and knowledge sharing practices. The study utilized surveys and questionnaires that were distributed to 230 small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to present the results. Findings showed that firms are still using one-on-one meeting to share knowledge, while knowledge sharing activities are controlled through a rigid and inflexible process at the top management level, thereby hindering knowledge flow that is crucial for real-time decision making. The advances in IT have not been used advantageously to improve knowledge sharing and to advance business management. The paper concludes that without strong positive correlation between IT infrastructure integration, and communication strategies and knowledge sharing, the SMEs may not be able to compete in a highly competitive knowledge economy. Consequently, they may lose leverage to another competitor with more robust and mature IT infrastructure alignment for sharing business analytics and intelligence efficiently. A technologically driven, open, and informal approach to knowledge sharing for productive and innovative engagement is recommended. Furthermore, the use of IT that can promote agile and real-time knowledge sharing is recommended.

Usage of Information and Communication Technology in Micro Enterprises in the Last DecadeThe paper presents the comparison of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) usage in Slovenian micro enterprises, using data derived from two studies carried out in years 1999 and 2009. Data for the studies were collected via structured interviews with owners or top managers of micro enterprises. We compared hardware and software equipment, business properties, characteristics of the interviewees and their impact on the successful use of ICT. The results show considerable changes in the ICT equipment, but that does not reflect in a better use of software compared to a decade ago. Key factors of successful use of ICT remain the same. The investment in ICT depends on owners' decisions and the most important factors are the owners' formal education and their skills and knowledge in ICT field. It was indicated that in recent years the investment of education in ICT field for both groups, owners and employees, was considerable lowered.

Achieving and strengthening competitive advantage represents the key factor for survival and success of the modern businesses. It is a fact that successful implementation of Lean management leads to increased productivity and competence. However, in order to maintain profitability and business stability, it is necessary to support Lean concept, which can be provided, above all, by the application of modern information technology. In that sense, by applying the ERP system, it is possible to adapt basic Lean principles to the requirements of a modern environment characterized by constant change of demand and needs of the consumers/users. The main goal of the research is to examine the existing level of application of modern information technologies, as well as the level of attention paid to the integration of Lean concept and software solutions in enterprises in the Republic of Serbia. Theoretical aspect of the research is related to finding appropriate grounds for concluding on the basis of the existing literature. In this paper, research gaps and proposed further research directions have been identified. By applying the appropriate statistical tools (descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, correlation analysis) it was finally concluded that the enterprises which have substantially implemented the practice and principles of lean management are at the same time those who implement IT in their business, i.e. the information systems which support the implementation of lean practice.

It is determined that in connection with the rapid development of the digital economy, the adaptation of high-tech enterprises to new operating conditions, as well as increasing their competitiveness, is of particular relevance. The need to stimulate investment and entrepreneurial activity in the high-tech industry has been identified. The digital economy implies the automation of business processes within a high-tech enterprise, as well as in relations with contractors and government agencies through the use of modern information technologies. It is proved that the paramount task of the development of the digital economy in Russia is the implementation in the coming years of training the required number of IT specialists capable of providing a qualitative technological breakthrough. A special role in the digital economy is given to high-tech production. The competitiveness of high-tech enterprises is largely due to the use of modern digital technologies in management and production activities. In conditions of high-tech production, factors affecting the competitiveness of enterprises are unstable. A list of external and internal factors affecting the level of competitiveness of high-tech enterprises is established from the standpoint of the greatest degree of influence of information technologies on them. Ignoring the transition to a digital economy can even deprive a successful high-tech company of its competitive advantage. Creation of new and improvement of existing network information technologies in the digital economy and their implementation in domestic high-tech enterprises will increase the competitiveness of enterprises, and as a result, the country's competitiveness.

Abstract:
Enterprises today continue to invest in business intelligence (BI) initiatives with the hope of providing a strategic advantage to their organizations. Many of these initiatives are supporting the tactical goals of individual business units and not the strategic goals of the enterprise. Although this decentralized approach provides short term gains, it creates an environment where information silos develop and the enterprise as a whole struggles to develop a single version of the truth when it comes to providing strategic information. Enterprises are turning toward a centralized approach to BI which aligns with their overall strategic goals. At the core of the centralized approach is the business intelligence competency center (BICC). This paper details why the centralized BICC approach should be considered an essential component of all enterprise BI initiatives. Examining case studies of BICC implementations details the benefits realized by real world companies who have taken this approach. It is also important to provide analysis of the two BI approaches in the areas of BI process and BI technology/data and people relations. The findings indicate the benefits of the centralized BICC outweigh the deficiencies of the decentralized approach.
