Abstract:
Entrepreneurs in Mexico start their businesses out of need, based on good ideas or to accomplish a “dream”. Nonetheless, starting out a business is not an easy task. Usually, business owners lack either professional background or financial knowledge, and focus only on keeping the business afloat, while trying to obtain profits. Business Intelligence and Analytics serve a great purpose in the growth of any company, but it is usually left out or ignored by small or medium enterprises, due to a lack of knowledge or because owners do not consider it necessary for a mid to long term plan. In the long run, businesses usually fail to achieve profit or cannot continue, and end up not knowing what went wrong. The information that a business generates could serve as a starting point for good and solid decision making, but the culture that dominates small and medium enterprises on any industry leaves important information unrecorded or unattended, forcing them to work based only on trial and error.

Oral speech presupposes the presence of listeners, IE. in its essence, it is intended for interpretation. Oral treatment of people is of great importance to the ability to listen traditionally in different situations. Of course, the ability to listen to the interlocutor without interrupting his speech is great in business relations, and sometimes plays a decisive role: business conversations, negotiations, discussions, disputes. Another point for business communication is very relevant: in the process of communication, General Knowledge, Common Interests, goals and mutual understanding are the starting points of effective speech communication, which form the "speech plan" and "audience plan". When these plans coincide, an ideal situation is created for the perception of oral speech, which is associated with a certain influence on the consciousness and feelings of the audience.

Abstract:
Starting a business is a complex process which requires multifaceted organisation and planning. Entrepreneurs begin with an idea which must immediately be tempered with the need to justify the creative concept, choose the business location, assess the competition and, most importantly, identify methods to finance it. This last task is the most crucial as, without capital, there will be no business. The majority of entrepreneurs face one fundamental problem; they rarely have the amount of capital required to see their ideas to fruition. Creating a business and executing a business plan requires finance. Given the global credit-crunch, it is pertinent that funding options available to entrepreneurs are investigated. An entrepreneur has numerous sources of finance to choose from. These range from funding provided by family or friends to various sources of debt and equity finance. Abstract:
This study considers the supplier's warranty return and the buyer's rebate policy as business-return policy in the supplier–buyer supply chain. The policy as well as the displayed stock level influences the behavior of the buyer. Distinct from the traditional single-stage inventory model, we investigate a two-stage replenishment policy model for deteriorating item considering the effect of imperfect production process, product design, stock level and business-return. A mathematical model utilizing the time weighted inventory (TWI) approach and two-variables fixed point optimization technique is developed to derive the optimal inspection starting time, the number of deliveries, the optimal delivery-time interval and the optimal business-return period. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the model developed. The result shows that the fixed demand rate, the unit holding cost and the unit inspection cost are the critical factors affecting the scheduling and performance of the two-stage supply chain.

The aim of this chapter is to challenge the context of entrepreneurship competences and management capabilities needed for innovation. We build our arguments in step with actual practice analyzing data from over 200 innovative companies which have been created under the formal requirements of a regional business plan competition during the last 10 years. This study explores the crucial capabilities to start an innovative business and discuss the capabilities have to be developed to sustain innovation and business growth. Therefore, it can be hypothesised that entrepreneurship and innovation education provided by Universities, Centres for Entrepreneurship and through coaching by Business Plan Competitions should focus on building awareness for the necessity of innovations and prepare inventors, entrepreneurs and students for not simply starting an enterprise but the change process in growing companies. The questions are not of whether or not to educate people about entrepreneurship and innovation but rather what are the context and the capabilities needed to sustain business and become an innovative and successful entrepreneur?

Abstract:
In response to suboptimal breastfeeding rates, North Dakota added a provision to SB 2344 (public indecency legislation) creating an Infant Friendly business designation for employers providing specified lactation accommodations to employees. However, there has been no evaluation of this designation to determine effectiveness. The purpose of this article is to examine the impact of the Infant Friendly business designation in North Dakota on breastfeeding continuation rates within the context of the social ecological model (SEM). Between November 2016 and March 2017, an 85-item online questionnaire, designed using the SEM, was distributed to working women across the state using various sampling methods. T tests, analysis of variance, and regression were used to analyze results. Designated (intervention) and nondesignated (control) businesses were targeted. There was no statistically significant difference in breastfeeding duration between designated and nondesignated businesses. There was a 2-month difference in duration between continually designated businesses and those with lapsing designations. Twenty-eight percent of the women working for Infant Friendly businesses were aware that their businesses were designated, indicating a lack of awareness regarding the designation. The designation is a starting point for worksite breastfeeding support. A policy promotion plan based on the SEM targeting individual awareness and employee education may improve the designation’s effectiveness.

Learning outcomes The learning outcomes are as follows: decision-making in the areas of business plan, business strategy, financial management, profit planning and marketing, learning from outer business environment, succession planning for first-generation entrepreneur and choosing appropriate source of financing and drivers for diversification. Case overview/synopsis Immersed in sipping green tea in his capacious office lounge, the octogenarian Arjun Mehta introspected on the trials and tribulations of his journey as an entrepreneur, the voyage which started four decades ago. From 1976 to 2018, the business has now traversed three generations. Starting with Spice Mart (Sole Proprietor) to Hindware and Lament Construction (partnership firms) to Starlite Homes Pvt. Ltd. (corporate entity), Mr Mehta witnessed transformation and restructuring in organization with every new generation which characterized the evolution of family business. Handholding children to take up the reins of Spice Mart was not a calculated choice. Yet it is remarkable to study the growth in organizational structure of the regional family business. As a self-made entrepreneur, morals, ethics and value system are vital ingredients steering the organic growth story. Third-generation Mehta’s are enterprising, aspiring and visionary. With the incorporation of a corporate entity, they convinced themselves to bring inorganic growth in their business. Arjun Mehta gleamed with pride as Spice Mart partakes an organized structure which had lost prominence with the second-generation entrepreneurs. But he is equally hammered with juxtaposed thoughts. He contemplates whether the integration of retail business with real estate corroborates sustainable innovation. Will independent businesses create the brand’s footprints perpetually? Should the millennial confine business natively or should they grow internationally and become a conglomerate? Complexity academic level The case can be exclusively taught to masters and executive education class of students pursuing entrepreneurship and business management courses. Abstract:
Advances in digital marketing strategy have opened the floodgates for forward-thinking marketers to rewrite how modern business-to-business marketing is done from a strategic and tactical aspect. This paper discusses a fundamental shift that has been pervading the business-to-business marketing space, i.e., the adoption of Account-Based Marketing (ABM). ABM bridges the gap between marketing to an individual and marketing to the broader organization in an automated and scalable fashion. Specifically, we aim to provide a practical guide regarding some best ABM practices for startup companies. Startup companies typically look to drive rapid growth in both revenue and number of customers; however, go-to-market resources are often limited. For these companies, automating and scaling an ABM becomes an essential part of their growth. We discuss three data sources valuable for ABM program for startups, and the development of a robust account intelligence program and customized go-to-market campaign. The practice introduced in this paper can serve as a starting point for startup companies that plan to drive rapid revenue growth through a focused account-based strategy.

Abstract:
The business environment is undergoing dynamic changes such as the increased competition and the development of new technologies. Companies have been increasingly interested in improving their business performance. In the literature on B2B markets there is a high-level agreement that principal's performance can be improved towards holding fewer and closer relationships. Increasing long term relationships represents a starting point for competitive advantage. Research and practice on marketing channel management have proven the importance of managing relationships between people or organizations which is carry out the distribution function (Stern, Louis W and Weitz, 1997). A value has always been the fundamental basis for all marketing activities (Palmatier, 2008). In fact, it is essential to know how to create and deliver value in the relationship, from both point of view, the manufacturer and retailer (Ulaga and Eggert, 2005). The main objective of this research is to obtain a clearer picture of the problems of the situation in the relationship between principal and retailer and plan a collaborative relationship strategy. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach used to determine priorities from various alternatives strategies. The most important thing is to determine the priority order of strategies and formulate policies concerning business competition. This study's managerial implication implied that workers and business actors, and policymakers in the trade sector in the paint and building materials industry could get a rich picture of creating an ideal competitive situation between small and medium business owners and retail network businesses. Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the discussion about entrepreneurship education through undergraduate dissertations (UDs). In order to achieve this objective, this paper addresses the problems detected in the degree subject “UD” – which entails the creation of a business plan – and the proposal of improvements in the teaching-learning process of this subject. Design/methodology/approach Qualitative and quantitative analysis are used. First, the paper reports the problems that occurred during two academic years (2012–2013 and 2013–2014), as well as the solutions to these problems, in the two academic years that followed (2014–2015 and 2015–2016). Second, the improvements achieved are analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon–Mann–Whitney test, based on data drawn from the records and a survey conducted in 2012–2013 (174 responses), and in 2015–2016 (184 responses). Findings The results outline the positive effects on students’ learning outcomes and academic excellence, a three-stage assessment process, the strengthening of the coordination and supervision systems and the enhancing of entrepreneurial spirit among graduates, with a UD connected to a business incubator. Practical implications The authors describe the design and implementation of a UD that provides a major step in the students’ entrepreneurial education, emerging, not only, as an opportunity to train and connect skills and knowledge learned about the starting a new venture, but also as a practical experience of entrepreneurship; a first step that introduces the student to entrepreneurship. Originality/value There are very few examples of concrete subject designs that have undergone in-depth, longitudinal research, focusing on entrepreneurship. Prior research has focused on entrepreneurship primarily as a subject, forgetting the great utility of the UD as active training tool. Thus, this paper breaks new ground by highlighting the role of the UD in entrepreneurial education. In this regard, the UD allows the student to be guided and to actually engage in the real-world practice of entrepreneurship. Specifically, it encourages them to apply their academic knowledge of the field in the context of creating a new business. Moreover, by creating a business plan, students are applying the knowledge and skills learned in the subject of entrepreneurship with other spheres of knowledge and skills.

The potential of developing and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit of the young generation in RW 11 Sukarami Palembang urban village was enormous, but the fostering of entrepreneurship spirit had not been optimal yet because the education level of most target audiences was high school graduates who lacked knowledge in entrepreneurship. As a result, many potential creative ideas in starting a business had not been explored optimally. The aim of this business planning training was expected to instill the entrepreneurial spirit into this young generation. It is hoped that they were motivated to start their own businesses that suit their own talents or hobbies and they were able to utilize existing resources and capital to create economic value goods. Several different methods were used in the training such as lecture, game, discussion, question and answer, and business planning practice. During the training, the participants were invited to present their business plans. The results of the evaluation of 22 trainees, in general, show that there was an increase of knowledge and understanding after the participants had been exposed to the materials of entrepreneurship and business planning.

Aim/Purpose: To understand the change of entrepreneurial initiatives by analysing some new initiatives that came up the last years based on IT enabled business models Background: The theme is described from an educational perspective by offering examples of successful entrepreneurship initiatives Methodology: Description of some cases: Waynabox, Lock up, Uber, Pinterest Contribution: This project tries to become a guide for youth in order to understand various aspects: first, the entrepreneurial aspects that have to be considered before starting a business; secondly, the characteristics that successful businesses have in common; and finally how an entrepreneur can be innovative and how they can achieve the success Findings: Only the 10% of the start-ups exist more than three years. Among the causes of failure are the high saturation of the market and the market competition, which are connected to the ignorance of the real necessity of customers. The company has to identify the needs of customers. They have to define and target their customers by observing and analyzing the market and, above all, getting in touch with the customers. The business plan is something that has to be carried out before the beginning of the project, and has to exist on paper. Everything has to be planned and organised, and the objectives have to be clearly stated in order to stay focused Recommendations for Practitioners : To use existent business models as an inspiration for the creation of a new business model. It is really important to avoid copying the business model itself. One thing that a company needs to do is to make the difference offering new characteristics adapted to the current customer’s experiences Recommendation for Researchers: It is really important to have a good relation with the customer, to attend their needs and to help them with all the doubts that they can have about the company. An entrepreneur cannot be guided by his own interests. He has to invest in order to know the needs of the potential customers Impact on Society : Customer experience is key to have success in new business models

Abstract:
Modern type of business organizations was started in Ethiopian before hundred years ago and the number is tremendously increasing nowadays. However, there was no one set of generally accepted accounting standard used by business organization in the country till December 2014 when IFRS was proclaimed as the law of the land. Though IFRS was accepted for financial reporting in the country starting from 2014, the level of preparedness in teaching IFRS in Ethiopian universities was not studied. This paper is aimed at identifying problems in teaching IFRS among teachers in Ethiopia universities. To achieve this objective, data was collected from 46 academic staffs working in six universities in the country. The study found that teachers in relatively old universities are trying to incorporate IFRS in their course plan as compared to those in recently established universities. Generally, the level of preparedness to incorporate IFRS is low in majority of the universities under study. Lack of text books in line with IFRS, problem of integrating IFRS in to the curriculum and lack of practical experiences are the top three bottle necks that hinder teaching IFRS in our universities. In order to prepare our staffs to teach in line with IFRS, both short and long term capacity building strategies were recommended in this study.

Abstract:
The development of 5G network slicing technology, combined with the application scenarios of vehicle–road collaborative positioning, provides end-to-end, large-bandwidth, low-latency, and highly reliable flexible customized services for Internet of Vehicle (IoV) services in different business scenarios. Starting from the needs of the network in the business scenario oriented to co-location, we researched the application of 5G network slicing technology in the vehicle–road cooperative localization system. We considered scheduling 5G slice resources. Creating slices to ensure the safety of the system, provided an optimized solution for the application of the vehicle–road coordinated positioning system. On this basis, this paper proposes a vehicle–road coordinated combined positioning method based on Beidou. On the basis of Beidou positioning and track estimation, using the advantages of the volumetric Kalman model, a combined positioning algorithm based on CKF was established. In order to further improve the positioning accuracy, vehicle characteristics could be extracted based on the traffic monitoring video stream to optimize the service-oriented positioning system. Considering that the vehicles in the urban traffic system can theoretically only travel on the road, the plan can be further optimized based on the road network information. It was preliminarily verified by simulation that this research idea has improved the relative single positioning method.

Abstract:
The study investigates the entrepreneurial competencies and intentions of students. Their formation is a requirement of modern times. The question arises whether students of modern technical universities get entrepreneurial competencies and whether they transform these competencies into their entrepreneurial intentions. More than 3.6 thousand students from six technical universities from Poland, Ukraine, Latvia, Bulgaria, and Lithuania were surveyed. Methods of summarizing and grouping data, analysis of the structure of the population and distributions of its elements, evaluation of relationships were used to analyze the results of the survey. It was found that studying at technical universities is not an obstacle to the existence of entrepreneurial intentions among students. The respondents positively assessed their ability to recognize market opportunities for new business (the sum of the shares of positive answers exceeded the sum of the shares of negative answers by 12.4%). A positive generalized assessment was determined when assessing the ability to persuade others to invest in their business, while negative – their ability to write a formal business plan. It is proved that students who highly value their entrepreneurial abilities are much more likely to show the intention to start their own business (р < 0.001). Students’ focus on starting their own business is partly explained by the fact that they connect employment in corporations with a low guarantee of job retention. High positive integrated assessments received the following advantages of own entrepreneurship: prestige (0.302), chance to be realized (0.362), and the ability to create jobs (0.597). Abstract:
The ASEAN Regional Guidelines on Competition Policy 2010? Constitution of 1999 No. 5 concerning Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition in principle was enacted with the goal of ensuring the certainty of equal business opportunities for every business actor in Indonesia and to create a conducive business climate through the regulation of fair business competition. However, Constitution of 1999 No. 5 seems unable to accommodate the development of an increasingly globalized business competition, especially in the ASEAN region with the appearance of the Asean Economic Community (AEC) at the end of 2015. This study aims to address 2 issues: (1) the reason why Constitution of 1999 No. 5 needs to be revised and (2) whether or not the Bill of Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition ("Draft Law") be adjusted to the 2010 ASEAN Regional Guidelines on Competition Policy. To answer the questions in this study, the researcher used normative legal research method. Based on the result of the study, changes to Constitution of 1999 No. 5 needs to be done immediately. In addition, the aforementioned Bill needs to be adjusted to the 2010 ASEAN Regional Guidelines on Competition Policy because although being in the form of soft law and without any binding power for countries that are ASEAN members, the Regional Guidelines is the first step, a starting point towards harmonizing business competition law in the ASEAN region, and the roadmap towards harmonizing business competition policies and business competition laws in the ASEAN region are clearly defined in the 2025 ASEAN Competition Action Plan.

Abstract:
This research aims to identify the critical challenges associated with restarting manufacturing organizations post-coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The authors conducted an expert-based survey among various industry leaders of manufacturing organizations to capture a holistic view of business continuity plans and the associated challenges. The selected individuals are responsible for making business continuity policies and plans at their respective organizations. They were asked to reflect on their experience of the present-day challenges in managing business continuity in their organizations. Expert interviews were reflective and provided candid inputs. Consequently, the keywords of the experts' feedback were synthesized by using the mind map qualitative approach, which helps in the visualization of the critical challenges at an abstract level. Further, the interrelation between them and the significance of each critical challenge is evaluated using fuzzy theory with the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) technique. The findings of these evaluations will help to assess the existing policies/practices and to strengthen business continuity plans post-COVID-19. This study is a pioneering work that will help organizations to prepare action plans for kick-starting their broken-down economic engines.

Abstract:
The resilience and profitability of livestock production in many countries can be impacted by shocks, such as drought and market shifts, especially under high debt levels. For farmers to remain profitable through such uncertainty, there is a need to understand and predict a farming business’s ability to withstand and recover from such shocks. This research demonstrates the use of biophysical modelling linked with copula and Monte Carlo simulation techniques to predict the risks faced by a typical wool and meat lamb enterprise in South-Eastern Australia, given the financial impacts of different debt levels on a farming business’s profitability and growth in net wealth. The study tested five starting gearing scenarios, i.e., debt to equity (D:E) ratios to define a farm’s financial risk profiles, given weather and price variations over time. Farms with higher gearing are increasingly worse off, highlighting the implications of debt accumulating over time due to drought shocks. In addition to business risk, financial risk should be included in the analyses and planning of farm production to identify optimal management strategies better. The methods described in this paper enable the extension of production simulation to include the farmer’s management information to determine financial risk profiles and guide decision making for improved business resilience.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to address the following questions: how do consumers construct meaning around their inconspicuous luxury fashion experiences? What desires do inconspicuous consumers strive to fulfill? What sentiments do they associate with their inconspicuous luxury fashion consumption? Design/methodology/approach This exploratory research begins with a netnographic study of 11 online luxury blogs followed by in-depth interviews and home observations of ten luxury consumers with inconspicuous preferences in Dubai. Findings Inconspicuous choices are not simply for associative or dissociative motivations but several symbolic consumption schemas come into play. A typology of inconspicuous luxury fashion consumers has emerged: fashion influencers, trendsetters, fashion followers, and luxe conservatives. Practical implications The findings have potential to yield important managerial implications for fashion retailers and brand communications. The typology of inconspicuous consumers provides a basis for developing a more targeted relationship marketing program for luxury fashion brands. Originality/value This research advances luxury knowledge in fashion and consumer behavior research by unveiling how consumers construct meanings around their inconspicuous consumption. The typology developed in this study marks the starting point for further extensions to explore the complexities of inconspicuous luxury consumers, which are grounded in the roles they take on in society, how they plan their luxury consumption journey and how they eventually use these possessions for self-identification and communication to others.

However, there are several important considerations of a transaction-cost character that hamper the transfer of ownership of the firm. Especially, considerations of tax consequences can make it very complicated to plan a transfer of the ownership of a SME during the lifetime of the owner. Sweden serves as an interesting illustration of the implications of different tax laws on the choice of succession arrangement since it recently decided to abolish the gift and inheritance tax starting January 1, 2005. This article reports on the tax-induced contractual difficulties. These difficulties are compared with the relatively less complicated situation that occurs when a country such as Sweden abolishes taxes on inheritance and gifts. Case vignettes are used to illustrate the legal dimension of transfer of ownership. A number of recommendations are provided for how to enhance the family succession process of SMEs. A case study supports these findings.

Abstract:
Many banks are looking for a better core banking system to support their business growth with a more efficient and flexible core banking system to improve their sales and services in the competitive market and to fulfill regulatory requirements. The decision of replacing the legacy core banking system is difficult due to the high IT investment cost required for banks because they are also trying to cut costs. But maintaining the legacy system is costly in terms of upgrade. Changing the core banking system is also a difficult process and increases risks. To have a successful Core Banking System implementation, risk assessment is required to be performed prior to starting any activities. The assessment can help project teams to identify the risks and then to mitigate the risks as part of the plan. In this research the Core Banking System replacement risks were assessed based on ISACA Framework for IT Risk. Fourteen risk scenarios related to Core Banking System Replacement were identified. The high and medium rated inherent risks can become medium and low residual risk after assessment by putting the relevant control in place. The result proves that by adding mitigation plan it will help to mitigate the Residual Risk to become low risk. There are still three residual risk which categorized as medium risk and should be further mitigated they are Software Implementation, Project Delivery and Selection/Performance of Third Party Suppliers. It is also found that COBIT 5 has considered some specific process capabilities that can be used to improve the processes to mitigate the medium risks.

Abstract:
Subject/Topic. The article is devoted to the study of the possibilities and threats of using scientific intelligence in the business foresight and its impact on the business potential of the business in the short and long term. Methodology. In the process of writing the article, general scientific and philosophical methods of knowledge were used, as well as special economic methods based on them. Especially, the articles of the object of research – artificial intelligence – as the current process necessitated the use of problem-chronological and historical-genetic methods, which made it possible to distinguish the main stages of the formation of ideas, concepts, theories and methods for the use of artificial intelligence in business foresight, and the historical-genetic method showed the inseparability and intersectability from one stage to another of the development of the conceptual and methodological apparatus of the object of scientific research. Results. Currently, in business practice, artificial intelligence is used as a foresight tool very individually, since the complexity of its development and significant investments in the landscape infrastructure of its functioning form objective barriers to its rapid spread in the business environment. Currently, the following models of artificial intelligence are used in the business force: anthropocentric, hybrid, instrumental, machine-centric. According to the above calculations, starting from 2020, active growth is expected in the segment of business and IT services using artificial intelligence, it is also expected to increase spending on R&D projects in the field of development of products with artificial intelligence, and the most forward-specific from the point of view of investing capital and development as part of their own business model of AI directions on the horizon 2018-2025 are technologies for remote access (VDI, BKC, online communications, control), AI/ML (artificial intelligence, machine learning), VR/AR (virtual and augmented reality). Conclusions/Significance. In general, in 2020 compared to 2019, the optimism and motivation of the business to introduce artificial intelligence clearly showed a decline, and it should also be noted that the goals set by managers have become more «grounded»: in 2020, 45% spoke in favor of using artificial intelligence as a means of forming their own Big Data libraries, another 45% – for the integration of the artificial intelligence mechanism and existing systems for analysis and collection of information, however, a modern business strategy is not possible without processing huge amounts of customer information, and given their weak structuring and localization in multiple sources, the speed and quality of their processing and interpretation without the use of machine learning mechanisms became economically impractical. Application. The results of the scientific research will be useful both for educational purposes for students and readers interested in the use of artificial in-tech in business management, and for practitioners who plan to use artificial intelligence in foresight business processes.

Abstract:
In the context when tourism has become a widespread phenomenon, there are many global concerns in this regard, with reference to the plans to protect the world’s cultural and natural assets, and to stimulate the sustainable development of this sector. Touristic, cultural and scientific bodies develop comprehensive strategies, initiating Conventions, drawing up plans and periodically preparing reports. Romania has a large number of tourist attractions, ranking 46th in the top based on this criterion, distinguishing itself also grace to the attractiveness of natural objectives, the total number of protected areas, the number of cultural objectives and the number of objectives in terms of oral and intangible heritage. Taking into account all these indicators, Romania may be proud of a vast touristic potential, which offers wonderful premises for starting a business in tourism, for the expansion of entrepreneurship and for the development of natural, cultural and anthropic resources. Each region and area of Romania has diverse and special particularities and characteristics, and we have to underscore their ability to become true business poles grace to the high level of their attractiveness, being capably of developing actual hospitality industries. The recognition of their existence and value obviously contributes to a very large extent to the promotion and inclusion of cultural objectives into various global rankings, actions that lead to an increased interest among tourists, and implicitly contribute to attracting a large number of visitors and generally have a significant media impact. In this respect, this paper highlights international and domestic coordinates related to the sizing and capitalization of tourism potential, analysing theoretical coordinates and statistical data. In addition, we also forward the results of a survey carried out in order to identify the prospects for capitalizing on the Romanian tourist heritage and the manner in which the highlighting of the Romanian touristic and cultural objectives can be a starting point for generating prosperous future business and can develop the business milieu in all areas, including in the regions experiencing a steep decline, like Caraş-Severin county. Abstract:
Purpose In today’s business world, trust is an essential ingredient for business success, as it serves as a foundation for enhancing a network of positive relationships among businesses, clients, employees and stakeholders. This study aims to shed light on a deeper and more substantial understanding of trust by examining the casual association between national culture and trust. Design/methodology/approach The study empirically investigates the extent to which cultural factors promote and constrain the level of trust using a mixed sample of 46 developed and developing countries observed over the period of 1990-2014. Findings The study provides new empirical evidence that trusting behavior is explained systematically by national culture. Countries with high individualistic and high long-term oriented cultures are the most favorable environment that fosters trust among people in society. In contrast, individuals from countries with the expression of high power distance and high uncertainty avoidance cultures appear to exhibit less trust in others. Practical implications The study provides managerial implications, especially for managers and management consultants in a global context, regarding the cultural relevance of trust in the new and foreign environment, and the effective management of trust among culturally diverse workforces and business relationships. In addition, the study should serve as a supplemental learning material in the business and management disciplines to demonstrate the essential role of trust in the global business environment. Originality/value The study adds to the existing body of knowledge on trust by offering new empirical insights into how culture plays an influential role in the creation of trust. This serves as a good starting point for academic scholars and practicing professionals to further develop appropriate management strategies and execution plans for managing trust across different cultural settings.

Abstract:
As I will examine in this study of waterfront redevelopment at Jack London Square, the business plans, architectural/landscaping designs, and historic memorabilia drummed up by Oakland civic, business and port leaders, from 1951 through to the early twenty-first century, repeatedly changed their focus as a result of cross-bay rivalry. The two cities had long competed for businesses and residents, using city planning to improve their transportation infrastructure and, later, their tourist draw. From 1951 through the 1960s, themed restaurants in Jack London Square multiplied, and the Port of Oakland cobbled together seafaring artifacts and Jack London memorabilia. Starting in the 1970s, private businessmen and the Port took on grander retailing approaches that progressed from a woodsy maritime village to a shopping mall to an artisanal foods market. Each time, Jack London Square was made over in light of events across the bay: the 1960s conversion of brick warehouses and factories into the retailing/restaurant venues of Ghirardelli Square and the Cannery; the late 1970s construction of a vast shopping and entertainment complex on Pier 39; and the early 2000s redevelopment of the Ferry Building, closer to downtown San Francisco, into a locavore food emporium. Yet each time, Oakland’s attempts to compete with San Francisco fell short.

Abstract:
- The aim of this article is to provide an updated picture of the ongoing policies implemented by the government of the Guangdong Province to foster the development (and the institutional acknowledgement) of a growing number of industrial clusters, defined as "specialised towns". These policies have been implemented as part of an ambitious and impressive program called "one city-one product" plan organized in two phases. In the first phase (2000-2003) the program has mainly tried to rationalise the location choices of national and foreign firms that, starting from the Nineties, have gradually invaded and then saturated the central area of the Province. In the second phase (2003-ongoing) the program has been utilised to improve the territorial rebalancing, trying to foster the birth and development of specialised productive clusters also in peripheral areas characterised by a lower firm density and, more in general, by a lower GDP level. The article enters into the details of the initiative for the development of specialised towns, paying particular attention to the policies supporting the innovative and technological capacity of firms operating in the specialised towns. Abstract:
The presented study adapts the TOGAF Architecture Development Method (ADM) to the development and implementation of architectural solutions in FMCG chain retailing.Aim. The study aims to adapt TOGAF ADM to the development and implementation of architectural solutions in FMCG chain retailing.Tasks. The authors formulate a definition of FMCG chain retailing architecture, determine the detail levels of architectural solutions, develop a basic architecture model, and examine the transition from the basic towards the target architecture. Building an efficient architectural solution for FMCG chain retailing enterprises using ADM requires creating a functional model and identifying groups of architectural areas for consistent architecture construction.Methods. The architecture of FMCG chain retailing is an efficient planning tool that combines the IT architecture of chain retailing with business architecture and makes it possible to achieve the strategic objectives of chain retailing. By developing an architectural solution, it becomes possible to determine business structure, systematize information for efficient business operations, build a map of the company’s business processes, and identify appropriate technologies to support these processes. The preliminary phase of building an architecture begins with the development of the business concept of a chain retailing company based on a business model. Starting with the preliminary phase, the working group launches an architecture project, goes through all the phases from the first stage to the last, and then launches the next project.Results. ADM TOGAF does not necessarily involve planning methods, which is why the result largely depends on the opinion of the working group. During TOGAF ADM activity, particular attention should be paid to the analysis of factors that affect the implementation and planned changes. Architecture blocks and architecture roadmap are two important elements of the development process. After analyzing the differences between the basic and the target architecture models (gap analysis), it is necessary to identify transient, excludable, and input architecture blocks, set and harmonize similar requirements for similar business processes, specify risks, and develop a strategy for the implementation of the target architecture. When making decisions, special attention should be paid to the priority of the chosen architectural solutions, formation of transit architectures (if necessary), and development of a plan for the implementation of the architectural roadmap in FMCG chain retailing.Conclusions. In the context of reengineering business processes of chain retailing companies, the most solid basis for building architectural solutions using ADM would be the company’s functional model. The proposed ADM adaptation on the basis of the functional model significantly increases the effi-ciency of development and management of architecture development for FMCG chain retailing companies.
