Abstract:
In my business writing classes, I usually use imaginary situations for the writing assignments. When a real-life situation arose, I was glad to challenge my students with preparing a questionnaire to be used by the ESL program. Furthermore, the students used this questionnaire as an important part of their report assignment. The steps simulated the procedure followed in many business situations and hence helped students develop knowledge of business procedures and related language skills. The students worked through all the steps, experienced problems, solved the problems, and wrote a real business report in their writing course.

Abstract:
In many business communication courses students must write a business report. This study compared what business communication instructors believe their stu dents learn and what writing skills they improve by completing the assignment with what students believe they learn and what writing skills they believe are improved. Data were gathered from members of the Association for Business Communica tion and from students who have completed a business report. Instructors see greater improvement in student writing skills than do students. To close this gap, faculty should offer more explicit explanations of the assignment and of the con cepts to be learned and the skills to be improved. They should also explain the cri teria for evaluation and help students assess their writing skills and set personal goals for improvement. Questionnaires are provided so instructors can compare their own perceptions with those of their students as well as with the instructors and students from this study.

Abstract:
Financial management is very important in cooperative business activities, considering that financial reports are a form of accountability to the management stakeholders especially to members as owners. The financial report must at a minimum describe the condition of assets, liabilities, and capital stated in the balance sheet report and transaction activities with members and non-members as well as costs incurred which are stated in the business results calculation report (PHU). Cooperative financial reports must be well understood by cooperative administrators so that they can account in writing for all cooperative business activities carried out accurately. Considering the very importance of financial reports, it is necessary to provide training in preparing financial reports on an ongoing basis. The training was held by the Purwakarta Regency Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Service.

Abstract:
One of the setbacks in youth entrepreneurship is the unavailability of proper business knowledge and mentorship. In rural municipalities of South Africa, the absence of youth mentorship has widened the inequality gap and triggered deep youth poverty. This article reinforces the importance of youth mentoring in crucial business aspects such as writing business plans for entrepreneurial success. This study is premised on a positivist paradigm that uses a quantitative research design. The researchers administered twenty questionnaires to youth entrepreneurs in Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa to examine whether mentoring the writing of business plans plays an essential role in their entrepreneurial ventures. The results for this article reveal that most youth entrepreneurs do not receive mentoring to boost their entrepreneurial ventures, even though mentoring has been identified as necessary. The report recommends that youth entrepreneurs be mentored to promote their businesses, which will create youth economic development and employment creation in BCMM.

Abstract:
The use of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) teaching method in English writing proved to be efficient in enhancing students’ language and content knowledge. This study aims to explore the effects of utilizing CLIL method in teaching Business English Writing among Chinese college students. A quasi-experimental design was adopted. The experiment lasted for a total of eight weeks. The Experimental Group was taught Business English Writing using CLIL method while the Control Group was instructed with the conventional method. The sample of the study consists of 80 third year Business English college students from Shaoyang University in Hunan Province, China. Two classes of students were chosen as intact group sampling (40 students in each group). A pre-test and post-test were used as instruments. The data was analyzed using Independent samples t-test. Prior to the actual study a pilot test was carried out to obtain the reliability and validity of the instrument (writing test). The findings from quantitative data showed that students of the Experimental Group using CLIL teaching method performed significantly higher in their overall Business English Writing, report writing, memo writing, letter writing than students in the Control Group using conventional method. Therefore, it can be concluded that the CLIL principle should be employed as an alternative method in future writing classes. These findings have significant pedagogical implications because the CLIL method facilitated students to improve in their Business English writing skills.

Abstract:
Business correspondence has been a subject of various advisory literatures and an object of academic writing process research for many years. With the publication of the research report “The Writing Subject”, Reinke added a relevant component to the scientific discourse on writing in the business world (Reinke 2019). Superiors who read draft texts are less perceived by the authors as help and much more as control and censorship – this can lead to a change in writing behaviour. In other words: to adapted, uncreative, externally determined letters, whose innovative power – individual originality – can no longer or does not want to develop. Reinke’s work follows Kaiser’s research (Kaiser, Brötz 2011; Kaiser 2013; Kaiser, Brötz 2015; Kaiser 2017) into the vocational training of office workers as well as Efing’s work (Efing 2015; 2017) into professional language registers. By means of a reflective grounded theory, Reinke gains interesting insights into the everyday world of writing merchants – and valuable impulses are created for the relevant training and further education.

Abstract:
Anxiety in foreign language writing burdens EFL learners before, during, and after producing scientific written texts. This current research aimed to explore the types, levels, and causes of anxiety toward writing research reports and the final thesis of rural college EFL learners and the emerging causes of their writing apprehension. 103 EFL learners in two rural colleges in Indonesia participated in the quantitative study by employing the Second Language Writing Inventory (SLWAI) and the Causes of Writing Anxiety Inventory (CWAI). The results reveal that cognitive anxiety was the highest type and level of rural college EFL learners' writing apprehension. Independent t-test shows that female EFL learners dominate male learners regarding writing anxiety. Furthermore, junior learners were more anxious than seniors. The learners with writing training had lower anxiety than those without writing experiences. Moreover, the learners taking the Research Method course were anxious about writing a research report. However, no significant difference was found between each variable. The most dominant emerging factors deal with problems with linguistic matters, fear of lecturers or supervisors' negative feedback, self-regulation in writing, writing evaluation, and inadequate training in writing. In conclusion, current classroom practice in rural colleges needs to be aware of and take academic action towards such circumstances.

The freelance medical writing landscape has evolved in recent years, with more market demand for competent medical writers who can work on a project basis. In January 2023, the European Medical Writers Association’s (EMWA) Freelance Business Group launched the 7th EMWA Freelance Business Survey (FBS), with the aim of analysing current trends in freelancing. Our analysis includes previously unpublished data from the 6th EMWA FBS to report changing behaviours in freelancing from 2018 to 2023. The 2023 FBS had a total of 223 respondents, more than in 2018 (n=142), most of whom were generally younger and less experienced (<5 years). Hourly rates charged were on average higher than those reported by respondents in 2018. Median hourly rates across all services provided was €82.2 and increased with years of experience. Networking and business advertising saw a decline in 2023, and word of mouth was considered the greatest influencer in gaining new business. Professional development efforts have taken a shift to personal research and online courses. Data presented here highlights the most current predominantly European trends in freelance medical writing.

Abstract:
Since 1994, the University of South Carolina at Columbia and the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration) have offered a joint master’s degree in international business. Communication instruction was initially a stable component of the program, with a week-long course at the beginning and a report-writing workshop at the end, followed by individual instruction in preparing deliverables for a consulting field project. Since the field projects were phased out in 2003, students continue to receive the one-week communication course in Vienna; after that, they have voluntary access to individual instruction from the Center for Business Communication at the University of South Carolina and exposure to in-class communication workshops as scheduled by faculty across the business disciplines. Although student feedback is positive, these instructional methods currently lack consistency. To achieve such consistency, a communication center can help to integrate instruction within MBA programs through communication intensive courses, writing studios, or a communication capstone course.

How can organisational studies theory respond to the call of nonhuman animals? This article argues there is ‘too much humanism’ in organisational studies and defines the problem as originating in language practices. The example of factory-farmed pigs is used to illustrate the argument. Derrida’s term carnophallogocentrism is used to suggest that ethical thinking about the animal be moved from face-to-face encounters through the eyes to the mouth and that by adopting methods used in literature and ‘feminist dog-writing’ ways can be found to co-constitute human and nonhuman species in academic writing practices. The term meat-writing is offered as a practice of challenging carnophallogocentrism.

Abstract:
Business communication and technical writing students face a new workplace challenge: responding to problems that reflect a multicultural dimension and involve business- people whose perspectives, values, and traditions are not Western. Case studies are a good teaching strategy to introduce multicultural issues in business communication. Case studies involve students in group settings and demand both problem-solving and human-relations skills. Adding discussion questions to case-study problems prompts student responses, and assigning a follow-up progress report or memorandum ties the case-study reviews to course goals. This article includes both a description of the assignment and two timely case-study samples.

Abstract:
In this era of globalization, English is an essential language for global business and marketing. When we discuss "globalization," either explicitly or implicitly, the English language is brought up. People all across the world use English for reading, writing, and speaking. An estimated 2 billion people speak English, which is recognized as an official language in several nations. English is a subject that many schools and organizations around the world require pupils to take. Additionally, it is a key topic in college-level courses. Communication in trade, education, and business is frequently conducted in English. It is referred to as the lingua franca or the universal tongue. To participate in the international job and research markets, one must be able to speak and write English. The majority of significant books and films are written and produced in English as their primary language. As a result, we learn more about the English language and appreciate it more. The results of this study demonstrate that during the time of British colonial rule, the English language has played a key role in education and economic operations all over the world. In order to travel or study abroad in the modern world, English proficiency is a requirement. With the information and communication procedures that individuals utilize to interact in this era of globalization, writing competence in English is crucial. As a result, the goal of this essay is to highlight the significance of writing in proper English and several reasons why mistakes can be made while writing business communication documents. Also, this is a qualitative study, and the technique of data collection involved some writing assignments, followed by interviews with some bachelor level students of Baglung. Writing faults in the students' work were discovered by an essay exam. The flaws are analyzed, and the need of learning grammar principles is addressed. A small number of researchers' publications are examined to support this research report. This research is unique in terms of value.

An innovative course in fundamentals of management communication derives from competency-based instruction. Course designers created a list of competen cies and behavioral objectives for each of four modules: business writing funda mentals, formal report writing, informative oral presentations, and persuasive oral presentations. Students receive the list before instructions. Students also gain instruction in class or through self-study or both. They are assessed through multi ple forms of assessment, and those assessments are measured in relation to individ ual demonstration of competencies rather than course norms. In general, the stu dents, faculty, and administration have viewed this course positively.

Abstract:
Since the end of last year, the researchers at the Institute of Systems Science (ISS) started to consider a more ambitious project as part of its multilingual programming objective. This project examines the domain of Chinese Business Letter Writing. With the problem defined as generating Chinese letters to meet business needs, investigations suggest an intersection of 3 possible approaches: knowledge engineering, form processing and natural language processing. This paper attempts to report some of the findings and document the design and implementation issues that have arisen and been tackled as prototyping work progresses.

Abstract:
With more and more people interested in how sustainable and socially responsible companies are, the comprehensibility of content on corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become paramount. Producing easy-to-read business content – either by writing it from scratch or revising it – is a cognitively demanding undertaking, especially for second-language non-professional writers. Both formal training and sustained practice can help writers build expertise and, in turn, be considerate of their intended audience. In particular, research on the impact of training has usually yielded positive results when examining the texts produced following specific instruction. However, the extent to which training has a positive effect on the process of writing and revision is still under-researched, especially in second language. To address this gap, we report on an experimental study that examines the impact of reader-oriented training on the cognitive effort experienced by 47 second-language university students when revising CSR content. We adopted a pre-test post-test design, and we used keystroke logging and retrospective interviews to collect data on students' pausing behaviour, use of online sources, and strategies to approach the revision task. Our training seemed to reduce the cognitive effort linked with lexical choices. Furthermore, it provided some students with procedural knowledge on how to approach the revision task in a more efficient way. We also observed a general tendency to rewrite (rather than revise) CSR content despite the higher cognitive effort required by rewriting. We discuss implications for training, limitations, and future research avenues.

Abstract:
We report on the results of the second-year study of an interdisciplinary, international collaboration among students and instructors at one European and two US universities. The purpose of the study was to examine whether our changing four pedagogical elements from Year 1 to Year 2 affected the students’ perceptions of learning. The primary purpose of the pedagogical collaboration itself was to involve students in authentic collaborative learning activities intended to support them in developing an understanding of disability and accessibility concepts in a business context. Students in a business English course proposed start-up companies and created business plans for their ventures. Students in an introductory professional writing course designed websites for the planned businesses, while students in a gateway technical communication course served as advisors to the other two classes regarding how to make the proposed businesses and websites accessible to people with disabilities. We collected quantitative and qualitative data through pre- and post-project surveys. These data were supplemented with qualitative data from student interactions, student submissions (work products), video conference meeting minutes, and instructors’ notes. The analysis revealed that students reported increased awareness of disability and openness to finding solutions for accessibility issues.

Abstract:
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to report on a review of the writing practices and experiences of scholars who have published qualitative papers in the field of entrepreneurship. It evaluates existing knowledge about how “well‐published” entrepreneurship scholars go about writing up qualitative research. It identifies the antecedents, processes, and consequences of qualitative research authorship as self‐described by authors.Design/methodology/approachScholars who had published qualitative papers in the five top‐ranked entrepreneurship journals over a 20‐year period were asked to complete a qualitative survey about their writing practices. A qualitative analysis of 37 usable replies was undertaken.FindingsEntrepreneurship scholars perceive their qualitative research writing to be more enriching and philosophical than quantitative research. Although they feel strong connections with their research subjects, they find qualitative research difficult and time consuming to write up. It is hard to bridge the gap between working with large amounts of transcribed data and the editorial requirements of journals, without losing the vitality of data. Qualitative research and subsequent writing skills have often been learned by trial and error. Many are inspired by specific texts, which may include novels, poems or plays.Practical implicationsThis work shows how useful it is to discuss qualitative writing processes so that we may learn from the “blood, toil, tears and sweat” of those who have already successfully navigated both the writing and publishing of qualitative research.Originality/valueAlthough there is a vigorous debate within the entrepreneurship literature about the prevalence and suitability of different methods and methodological approaches, there is no explicit discussion of how researchers engage with writing up qualitative research for publication. The paper addresses this gap and shares insights and guidance from our community of practice.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to describe some genre and stylistic features of the 18th-century regional report, or donosheniye. The research is also focused on the semantic history of the term donosheniye reflected in the legislative acts of the 18 th century that regulated the language style of regional clerical work and determined the main trends in its systematization. It is pointed that the term donosheniye was used in the legislative documents of Peter the Great period as a synonym for doklad, raport (report) and chelobitnaya (humble petition). The research results show that the term donosheniye had lack of genre "purity" and was functionally polysemantic in regional business writing, which explains the original conceptual syncretism of the term. The author characterizes the petitioning type of donosheniye that emerged in the 18 th century simultaneously with establishment of the chelobitnaya. The analysis of the documents circulating in the Russian regions discovered that donosheniye, being integrated into the petitioning documents system, functioned as a petitioning statement in the cases which did not require judicial consideration. Conversely, chelobitnaya was a kind of lawsuit claim. It was proved that the petitioning type of donosheniye slightly changed the form, which was characteristic of this type of petitions; its genre features move closer to the reporting type of donosheniye.

Abstract:
Objective: To provide a working guide which facilitates the accuracy, transparency, and usefulness for academics and practitioners of case report papers as an article type which are fit for publishing in impact journals. In this way, we aim to increase the use and dissemination of recommendations in aid of the writing and publication of case study and action research. Theoretical framework: A case report paper presents a story in narrative form and includes current individual or organisational concerns, situational diagnoses, interventions, outcomes including adverse events, and follow-up. The narrative should include a discussion of the rationale for any conclusions and lessons learned. Method: We analysed the prevalence of these type of articles in publications as indexed in Web of Science (WOS) and in Scopus; we explain how we customised the case report guidelines (CAse REport or CARE) to optimise them for the scientific field of Management focussing particularly on Operations Management and Human Resources Management. We shared for discussion and feedback the adapted proposal among a group of academics and professionals in the field of Management. Outcomes/Implications: Robust reporting guidelines help to improve research performance, reduce bias risk, provide information on the implementation of management practices, support the training of management professionals, and enable informed editorial decisions by journal editors and reviewers.

Abstract:
This article examines the report as a new type of document in the business writing system of the first half of the 18th century. The aim is to identify common and distinctive features of reports from various institutions in the southern region of Russia. The materials used for this study are documents from the Don Army (State Archive of the Volgograd Region) and the Astrakhan Province (National Archive of the Republic of Kalmykia). Through a comparative analysis of their content, functions, and speech organization, it is revealed that all reports were submitted from subordinate subjects to superiors, served informative purposes, and occasionally served as accompanying documents. They shared a similar form (addressee, addresser, title, main text, date, place of creation), although there were variations in the placement of requisites, document titles, and addresser formulas. Differences were also identified, such as the larger number of reports in the documentation of the Don Army and their frequent use as accompanying documents, while Astrakhan reports often contained financial reports. In Don reports, the addresser was referred to in the final formula as “about this report,” while Astrakhan reports only included their name (or signature). It can be concluded that reports were increasingly integrated into official communication, becoming firmly established in the military sphere, and their form became more standardized, reflecting the development of common rules for document management.

Abstract:
Reports from enterprises play an important role in external communication. The article presents for the first time an extensive analysis of the present state of business reporting in the forest and timber sectors, as seen from the point of view of the enterprises concerned. In addition to information on the present state of affairs in report-writing, the article analyses the ways in which enterprises evaluate new multi-dimensional concepts in reporting. Furthermore, the attitudes of enterprises towards some of the individual components of these concepts are assessed. The results are presented separately for public and private forest enterprises, for forest contractors and for the secondary wood-processing sector. The results of the survey are qualitatively compared with other national and international reference values, as far as these are available. In the forest and timber sectors a very traditional perception of reporting can be recognised and new approaches are regarded, on the whole, with scepticism. In particular both the increased participation of stakeholder groups and the obligation to report on problematical subjects, as required by standardised reporting schemes, are at present but little implemented. In conclusion starting points for a reorientation of reporting in the forest sector are proposed.

With the rapid development of technology, business competition is increasingly racing in utilizing technology. Even micro business entities such as MSMEs have penetrated into computerized systems to process data. One of the MSMEs that will change the system from a manual system to a computerized system is Warung Ramane which is an MSME engaged in the food and beverage sector, but the MSMEs are still using a manual system, starting from the sales transaction process that is still written into the sales book which causes slow search. data, as well as the preparation of sales reports which are still done manually. This causes the preparation of sales reports that take a long time because of the large amount of data that must be processed and causes human errors, such as report writing errors, reports that are not neatly arranged, and errors in calculating the amount of turnover or profits obtained. From the above problems, the solution offered is the design of a website-based sales information system at Ayam Geprek Warung Ramane using the waterfall system development method, so that it can reduce human error problems and make it easier to search for data or archives and sales reports can be faster. With this information system, the owner can find out what food or beverage menus are the most sold/sold, and which ones are the least sold, and find out the level of sales for each certain period contained in the sales report, so that MSMEs can analyze and evaluate the menu. for sale

This is to report a 2-Year Research Project (2015-2016) funded by the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, which aims at justifying whether or not the online mode of task-based writing assignments (of various genres of English texts) could improve the writing skills of the students at higher education. An action research was conducted in College of Economics and Business Studies, Stikubank University (UNISBANK) Semarang, Central Java Indonesia in response to the lack of time allocated to students’ writing activities in their English class. Three cycles of treatments were employed—each with five phases, (1) identification of problem area, (2) collection and organization of data, (3) interpretation of data, (4) action based on data and (5) reflection of action. The findings showed that—compared with the initial condition— there was a mean increase of 31% and an increase of 121% in the students’ scores beyond the passing score of 61. Also, the students’ writing motivation increased considerably (>86% toward positive attitudes) as revealed in the survey at the end of the treatment program.

11eleven is a business engaged in the culinary field of beverages that offer products made from Matcha and Milk Tea, which is located in Ciputat, South Tangerang City. The operational activities of cashier transactions carried out at this store are still carried out in a long time or conventional way. In the transaction process it is written on a piece of note paper, so that for making a transaction paper paper report is collected then the writing of the report is recorded one by one. The use of this manual system can certainly conclude a lot of problems, such as wrong in providing prices, wrong in the calculation of payments, writing on unclear orders, causing services to buyers to be ineffective and efficient, then loss of sales transactions, damage in the memorandum sales, errors in inputting sales reports, so that reporting is inefficient and effective. From these problems, a computerized information system is needed to solve the problem, namely by implementing a web -based cashier information system. The purpose of making this web -based cashier information system is to facilitate the sales activities as well as operational activities at the 11eleven store. The prototype method is the method used in the creation of this web -based cashier information system. Making this website the author also uses Codeigniter framework and boostrap.
