Abstract:
This paper extends a previously presented SiC power module design philosophy to critical, higher-level components for increased system performance, namely the DC bussing and DC link capacitor design. The DC bussing is essential to connect the DC bulk capacitors to the high-speed power modules and it is imperative that low inductance is maintained while current carrying capability and temperature be maintained. Often, high frequency capacitors are added to systems to increase performance by compensating for extra stray inductance that the DC bussing can introduce. However, issues that may arise by doing such are presented and it is shown that the best solution is to optimize the DC bus structure rather than compensate for a poor design. Finally, the implemented bussing is shown and full power system results presented for the inverter stack-up design.

<p>William Albert Bussing Burhaus, conocido con Don William, fue profesor de la Escuela de Biología de la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR) desde 1966 hasta 1991, año en que se acogió a pensión, nombrado Profesor Catedrático en 1978. Posterior a su retiro fue nombrado Profesor Emérito y fungió como curador de la Colección Ictiológica del Museo de Zoología de la UCR hasta su deceso el 17 de noviembre de 2014. Como investigador trabajó en las áreas de taxonomía, sistemática, ecología, zoogeografía y evolución de peces de agua dulce y marinos de Costa Rica y Centro América, publicando cerca de 90 trabajos (ver lista de publicaciones abajo) y describiendo 60 especies (ver lista de especies descritas abajo).</p>

Abstract:
Based on a combination of intensive literature review, electronic database searches, re-identification of museum specimens and fieldwork, we hereby provide an updated checklist of the freshwater fishes of continental and insular Costa Rica. This checklist, systematically arranged at the ordinal and familial level, includes nomenclatural revisions, distributional information, and when appropriate, cross-references on the basis of Bussing (1998). According to our results, the native Costa Rican freshwater fish fauna is composed by 250 species, divided into 119 genera, 49 families and 19 orders; increasing in 108 the number of species originally reported by Bussing (1998). By far, the vast majority of these species, according to their supposed tolerance to salinity, are peripheral (63.2%), followed by secondary freshwater fishes (23.6%); only 13.2% are primary freshwater fishes. 24 species in this checklist appear to be endemic to Costa Rica. In addition to the native fauna 8 exotic species are reported.

Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to study how the environmental design on the bus and safety is managed in Uppsala, Sweden, and to thereafter analyze this by using the crime prevention theory/method crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED). Both features that currently exist on the bus and possible future improvements were investigated. To do this, an observation of the physical environment of the inside of a bus and six interviews, both with people responsible for safety on the bus in Uppsala and bus drivers, were executed. By analyzing possible crime preventing features on the bus, conclusions could be drawn. The characteristics of the bus were, to a large extent, promoted through CPTED. It was also possible to identify which elements that contribute safety, and to evaluate possible future improvements through CPTED. Out of these improvements, installation of CCTV, strengthening bus passengers' role to act and interfere when a crime is committed and extend the number of security guards and ticket collectors on the bus would, with support in CPTED, work to lower the level of crime on the bus. However, some of the possible future interventions were identified to contradict CPTED.

Abstract:
Cette étude sur le théâtre du peuple de Bussang de 1895 à 1946 confronte dans la perspective d'une histoire des mentalités, réalités sociologiques et réalités idéologiques afin d'éprouver le progressisme dont se réclamait cette scène, premier essai de théâtre populaire et de décentralisation expérimenté à la fin du dix neuvième siècle. Après avoir interrogé le jeu du présent et du passé en 1980 dans ce théâtre, l'analyse développé en flash back la situation de Bussang en 1895, les étapes de la construction du théâtre ancré dans son milieu naturel et les caractéristiques de ce milieu de notables républicains auquel appartient le fondateur, Maurice Pottecher et sa famille. Une deuxième partie aborde les objectifs de l'auteur et cherche les liens qui unissent ce projet d'un théâtre ouvert à tous, national et éducateur, à son contexte culturel; une analyse lexicologique épaule en cet endroit la démarche thématique et permet de rapprocher la pensée pottecherienne de celles par exemple de Michelet, Ferry et Barrès. Puis le regard se pose sur l'équipe, principalement d'origine vosgienne, ou le paternalisme apparait être le mode de relations entre les bourgeois et les ouvriers la composant; un gros plan sur l'acteur Pierre Richard-Willm montre comment ce dernier, à partir de 1935, infléchit dans un sens plus artistique la mise en scène bussenette. Enfin une étude de l'opinion met en évidence le consensus assez large qui a pu se réaliser autour d'une œuvre célébrant les valeurs que tout notable, qu'il soit de droite ou de gauche, craint de voir disparaitre. Une analyse thématique et narratologique (schéma greimassien) des pièces aborde le discours-passéiste de fait de ce théâtre. Écartelé entre des aspirations progressistes et conservatrices, le fondateur n'a pu que produire une œuvre ambigüe, dérapage inhérent à la pensée de Pottecher lui-même, à la difficulté de la société française d'analyser les bouleversements qui la secouent mais encore a la notion de théâtre populaire et peut-être même à tout le discours nationaliste de gauche
This research work on the Bussang people's theatre (1896-1946) brings face to face, from the viewpoint of a history of mental attitudes, the sociological with the ideological facts to put to the test the progressism that this theatre claimed to be its "raison d’être"- the last attempt at popular theatre made at the end of the 19th century. After studying the interconnection between past and present in 1980 in this theatre, the situation of Bussang in 1895, the various stages of the building of the theatre and the characteristics of this circle of leading republican citizens to which the creator, m. Pottecher, belonged, are analysed in flash back. The end part tackles the writer's objectives and the links between this project for a national and educational theatre open to everyone and its cultural context; a lexicological analysis then backs up the thematic thought process and allows the bringing together of the pottecherian way of thinking with that of Michelet, Ferry, Barres. Then follows an investigation of the team whose members mainly came from the Vosges and in which the relationship between those from the upper middle class and those from the working class appears to be paternalistic; a close-up of the actor Pierre Richard-Willm shows how from 1935, he orientated the stage direction towards a more artistic trend. Finally a study of the press shows the fairly wide concensus achieved around this work which extols values that any eminent person, right wing or left wing, fears to see disappear. A thematic and narrative analysis (greimas diagram) of the plays deals with the reasoning, background looking in fact, behind this theatre. Torn between progressist and conservative yearnings the creator could but produce one ambiguous work, the inherent flaw in Pottecher's way of thinking, in the difficulty that French society has to analyse the upheavals that shake it but also in the notion of popular theatre and maybe in any left wing nationalistic reasonining

Denna rapport behandlar konstruktion och tillverkning av ett videokort till Versa Module Eurocard (VME) bussen. Kortet skall användas vid laborationer i kurser där mikrodatorkort VM42 från PEP Modular Computer används. Grafikkortet klarar en upplösning på minst 640x480 punkter med 24-bitars färg. Hela konstruktionen är uppbyggd kring Lattice® MACH4A3-384/160. Designen av MACH kretsen är uppbyggd i Very High speed integrated hardware Description Language (VHDL) med hjälp av programmen ActiveHDL, Synplify Pro®, ispDesignExpert samt LatticePRO.


This report is about the construction and fabrication of a video card for the Versa Module Euro card (VME) bus. The card will be used as a platform in laborations in courses including the VM42 microcontroller from PEP Modular Computer. The card is able to display a resolution of at least 640x480 pixels with 24bit color. The heart in the construction is the Lattice® MACH4A3-384/160 Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD). All programming is done in Very High speed integrated hardware Description Language (VHDL) with the help of ActiveHDL, Synplify Pro®, ispDesignExpert and LatticePRO software tools.

El proyecto PAY Sport & Bussines Center corresponde a la creación de una empresa dedicada al rubro de la recreación y encuentro para profesionales y ejecutivos de la ciudad de Antofagasta. Su principal objetivo es proporcionar una nueva alternativa de deportes y recreación, no disponible actualmente en la ciudad, que a su vez genere un lugar de encuentro que permita relacionar los negocios y el deporte. Su diseño considera como mercado objetivo del negocio, a personas en un rango de edad entre 25 a 64 años correspondientes al segmento ABC1 de la ciudad de Antofagasta, siendo estos principalmente profesionales jóvenes y ejecutivos, relacionados principalmente con los rubros de minería, comercio y servicios. Este segmento en particular ha sido definido tomando aspectos demográficos tales como ingresos (disponibilidad de destinar parte de estos a actividades deportivas o recreativas) y edad (interés y capacidad de poder realizar deportes). La construcción considera seis canchas, 4 de Racquetball y 2 de Squash, e instalaciones de sauna, servicios de cafetería, un salón Bussines Center con servicios de internet, teléfono y fax, una tienda de accesorios para la práctica del deporte y áreas de servicio tales como estacionamientos baños, duchas y camarines. El presente trabajo está basado en la metodología de Plan de Negocios, considerando un análisis de mercado, diseño de estrategia y marketing, análisis financiero y de riesgo del negocio. La materialización del proyecto requiere una inversión de M$ 292 recuperados al cuarto año de su operación. La tasa retorno mínima exigida al proyecto fue de un 15 %, obteniéndose un VAN de M$ 84.4 y una TIR de 23 % en un plazo de 5 años. Los flujos de caja presentan utilidades desde el primer año, sin embargo, producto de la alta inversión requerida, impactada por la compra de un terreno, hace necesario proyectar sus flujos de caja a un horizonte de 10 años. Por esta razón se consideró una proyección del negocio a 5 años y un valor terminal. De acuerdo a los resultados obtenidos se determina que el negocio es atractivo, rentable y sus potenciales riesgos están controlados. MBA

Abstract:
Cars are getting more technically advanced and more ECUs are being developed that results in increased safety and comfort, and a lower environmental impact. This leads to a complex work to test and verify that all the different ECUs are functioning as intended in various situations. Vehicle diagnostics often requires software from third parties that are often expensive. Syntronic AB are currently using software with a much larger functionality than needed to perform vehicle diagnostics and much of the unneces-sary functionality in the software leads to unnecessarily long runtimes for the program. By studying CAN and UDS and analyzing how they interact, I was able to create a software by systematically developing the software with two interfaces connected to each computer and continuously testing the implementation against the theoretical basis and then finally testing the software in a vehicle. The created software was better suited to the needs of the company and the more functionality-adapted software could perform the same diagnostics faster than the company’s current software. The most used UDS-service by the company could be implemented and the created software enabled more UDS services to be added without modifications of the main program or its features.
Bilar blir allt mer tekniskt avancerade och fler ECU:er har utvecklats som har medfört ökad säkerhet och komfort samt minskad miljöpåverkan. Det resulterar i ett komplext arbete med att testa och verifiera att alla olika ECU:er fungerar som de skall i olika situationer. Fordonsdiagnostik kräver ofta program-varor från olika aktörer där licenserna ofta är dyra. Idag använder Syntronic AB en programvara med en mycket större funktionalitet än de behöver för att utföra fordonsdiagnostik och all denna onödiga funktionalitet i programvaran har medfört onödigt långa körtider. Genom att studera CAN och UDS och genom att analysera hur de samverkar kunde jag skapa en programvara genom att systematiskt utveckla programvaran med två gränssnitt inkopplade i var sin dator och kontinuerligt testa implementationen mot den teoretiska grunden för att slutligen testa programvaran i en bil. Den skapade programvaran var bättre anpassad för företagets behov och den mer funktionalitetsanpassade programvaran kunde utföra samma diagnostik snabbare än företagets nuvarande programvara. Den UDS-tjänst företaget använde mest kunde implementeras och den skapade programvaran konstruerades så att fler UDS-tjänster kunde läggas till utan modifikation av huvudprogrammet eller dess funktioner.

Den här rapporten beskriver ett examensarbete för högskoleingenjörsexamen i datorteknik vid Växjö universitet. Vid företaget BSR i Växjö pågår utvecklingen av ett diagnosverktyg benämt BSR Diagnostic Tool. Syftet med projektet är att kunna använda en hårdvaruklass som kommunikationsdel istället för diagnosverktyg från de olika biltillverkarna. Inom objektorienterad programmering är en klass ett avsnitt programkod som samlar en mängd relaterade attributer och funktioner för ett objekt. I rapporten beskrivs implementeringen av hårdvaruklassen samt tillhörande teori för kommunikationsbussen som används, nämligen CAN. BSR har redovisat vilka funktioner som bör finnas med i klassen genom att göra ett diagram med dessa. Målet i första hand var att få en fungerande kommunikation med styrenheter i en Saab. Testning har skett genom ett enkelt testprogram som ger möjlighet att skicka en fråga och få tillbaka ett svar från en styrenhet i fordonet genom hårdvaruklassen. Utvecklingen av systemet har skett med hjälp av programspråket C# och utvecklingsmiljön .NET. Företagets representanter var nöjda med resultatet då det utgör en bra grund för vidareutvecklingen av BSR Diagnostic Tool.


This abstract describes the bachelor degree thesis in computer technology at Växjö University. At the company BSR in Växjö, Sweden there is a new project under development called BSR Diagnostic Tool. The main idea is to use a hardware class for communication instead of the diagnostic tools that are provided by the car manufactures. In object-oriented programming, a class is a programming language construct that is used as a blueprint to create objects. The task was to implement this hardware class which will handle the communication between a computer and the control units in the vehicles. The report also includes a big theoretical part about the communication bus that is used, CAN. The objective was to create the class and make it communicate successfully with a Saab. The testing of the class was done with a simple program. The program can send a question to the vehicle and retrieve an answer with help of the hardware class. BSR provided a diagram with functions that should be present. The development of the system was done using C# and .NET Environment. The company was satisfied with the results since they provided a good basis to further development of BSR Diagnostic Tool.

I denna rapport undersöks säkerheten i de inbyggda systemen i ett fordon. Är CAN-bussen och enheterna som kommunicerar med den verkligen säkra? Vilka svagheter finns det inom säkerheten när ny teknik implementeras i fordon och ansluts till CAN-bussen?Om ett fordon blir angripet så är riskerna att angriparen lyckas med attacken ganska stora. Speciellt så finns det flera risker och säkerhetshål med ny teknik t.ex. inbyggda mediasystem i fordon.Vi har forskat i hur lätt det är att hämta information ur fordonet, samt vad som kan göras med denna information, detta med hjälp av både andra vetenskapliga rapporter samt en fysisk undersökning med hjälp av en applikation som utvecklades.Genom avläsning med hjälp av Bluetooth från OBD2 kontakten så kan information såsom signaler för att låsa upp fordonet eller trycka på gasen läsas av från fordonet. Viss information är dold för den normala användaren, såsom ett tryck på gaspedalen. Denna information måste erhållas genom exempelvis avläsning av dolda paket. Detta kan göras genom att spåra paket med hjälp av diverse program, t.ex. Wireshark. Hade denna information varit enkel att tillgå så kan den användas på ett skadligt sätt. Skulle exempelvis kommandot för att trycka på gasen kunna styras trådlöst så skulle detta kunna skapa stora och farliga problem. Detta är något som undersöks i rapporten, hur man kan gå tillväga och vilka sätt ett fordon kan angripas på.En applikation utvecklades för att undersöka vilken information som kan relativt enkelt extraheras. Parametrar som t.ex. hastighet eller varvtal på motorn är exempel på denna information. Med hjälp av en OBD2 enhet så kommunicerar applikationen med fordonet. Applikationen hämtar ut informationen om en bilresa från start till stopp för att sedan kunna redovisa denna information. Information visas till användaren i applikationen både under tiden fordonet färdas och sedan en sammanfattning av hela resan. Applikationen kan användas för att spara sina resor om man till exempel vill redovisa tjänsteresor för sin arbetsgivare. In this report, the security in integrated systems within vehicles is evaluated. Is the CAN bus and the devices that communicate with it secure? What are the weaknesses in security when modern technologies are implemented in vehicles and connected to the CAN bus?If a vehicle is attacked, the risk of the attacker's success with the attack is quite large. There are several risks and security holes with modern technology, for example. built-in media system in vehicles.We have researched how easy it is to retrieve information from the vehicle and what can be done with this information, using both other scientific reports and a physical examination using an application that were developed.By reading using Bluetooth from the OBD2 connector, information such as signals to unlock the vehicle or press the gas pedal can be read from the vehicle. Certain information is hidden for the normal user, such as a press of the gas pedal. This information must be obtained by for example, reading hidden packages. This can be done by tracing packages through various applications, such as Wireshark. Had this information been easy to access, it could be used in a malicious way. Should the command to press the gas be controlled wirelessly, this could create major and dangerous problems. This is something that is being investigated in the report, how to proceed and what ways a vehicle can be attacked.An application was developed to investigate what information that can be relatively easily extracted. Parameters such as speed or rounds per minute on the engine are examples of this information. Using an OBD2 device, the application communicates with the vehicle. The application retrieves information about a trip from start to stop and then it’s able to report this information. Information is displayed to the user in the application both while the vehicle is traveling and then a summary of the entire trip. The application can be used to save one’s journey, if for example, you want to report your trips to your employer. The trips are stored both in a database and locally on your phone with the possibility of uploading to a web server.ivThe application saves all information you selected about your trip and can also be customized with parameters depending on your needs. It also has a field of use for monitoring your driving, for example if you at some time during the trip reach abnormal values, such as far too high rounds per minute or something similar.

Ein Beispiel hierfür ist ein bedarfsorientierter, autonomer Shuttle des öffentlichen Personennahverkehrs. Im Rahmen dieses Buchkapitels wird erläutert, dass sich Menschen nur dann für die Nutzung solche Systeme entscheiden, wenn diese Systeme in der Lage sind, menschliche Bedürfnisse nach Sicherheit, sozialen Kontakten oder Selbstverwirklichung zu stillen. This chapter relies almost wholly on ethnographic fieldwork, i.e. interviews of formerly bussed pupils sharing their recollections some decades later. An analysis is provided of their broad sociological profile and how this may impact their memories of bussing. Then, various pragmatic elements about the bussing routine are studied, as well as the way racism in the dispersal schools was an unchallenged norm. Just as importantly, bussing’s effect was in fact to segregate rather than to integrate children in various kinds of ways. The fieldwork also illustrates sometimes the way individual children or families managed to circumvent certain demands through their seeming compliance and calculated conformity. Lastly, some exceptions to how negative bussing was are studied, as well as the way bussing ‘toughened up’, with hindsight, many of the interviewees themselves.

Devised by a Conservative government, dispersal was finally introduced by a Labour government, under Harold Wilson (1964–70). This chapter analyses the national, broad framework to the introduction of dispersal, via White Papers, government publications and ministerial circulars. It investigates the various structural shortcomings to dispersal, such as the absence of a definition of ‘immigrant children’, the unscientific claim that when a schools had more than 30% immigrant children dispersal should be introduced, the difficulties involved in introducing ethnic statistics of immigrant children in schools, lastly the ministerial racial myopia which failed to anticipate the fact that Asian children would face racial bullying in white schools.

The 1970s saw a growing challenge of assimilationist policies at the root of dispersal. Despite that, the hurdles to an efficient movement against it were many: the necessity to make a living among Asian immigrants, difficult access to information about dispersal schools, the fact that immigrants faced a bureaucracy which was opaque to them, etc. The Race Relations Board as well as the Ealing Community Relations Council proved instrumental in generating a growing awareness of the problems around and of the discriminatory nature of dispersal. For many Asians, the struggle against dispersal was primarily about equality and the recognition of a common human dignity, as is attested in some testimonies of former militants. In this chapter, the Kogan Report (commissioned by the RRB) is also analysed in depth, as well as the way dispersal illustrated in its last years a form of Welfare roll-back, rather than a policy of immigrant assimilation.

Like Southall, Bradford was faced in 1960–62 with a sudden influx of Asian immigrants, the great majority of whom hailed from Pakistan. This wave of immigration did cause some early panic, with the outbreak of smallpox in 1962. This chapter studies the introduction of bussing locally, which took place without a real white mobilisation in favour of it. Dispersal in Bradford was a fairly smooth affair compared with Southall. It was hailed by members of the Wilson government as a model type of dispersal, particularly because the city proved efficient at gathering statistics about immigrant children, but archives reveal that, as elsewhere, there were many shortcomings to the operation of dispersal locally, which had a detrimental effect on immigrant children.

This chapter analyses the different forms that dispersal took in the Local Education Authorities that introduced it besides Ealing (Southall) and Bradford. Blackburn presented a specific case in the sense that multiracial neighbourhoods were often situated near voluntary-aided schools, either Anglican or Roman Catholic. The problem was compounded by the activism of the National Front locally. Huddersfield and Halifax presented more ordinary cases, like West Bromwich, although in Huddersfield and West Bromwich the large proportion of (Anglophone) West Indian pupils made dispersal look more like an anomaly. Halifax put an end to bussing only in 1986–87. In Leicester, it was only the sudden influx of Ugandan Asians in 1972–73 which made the local authorities reluctantly introduce dispersal. In Bristol, the form dispersal took was radically different from elsewhere, and barely deserves the name. Lastly, the local situations of Wolverhampton, Walsall, Smethwick, Hounslow, Luton, Croydon and Dewsbury are presented.

Various subsystems in marine applications, especially unmanned underwater vehicles, compete for space. Multifunctional structure-battery (SB) composites combine structure and power functions through the use of high-performance fiber reinforced polymer layers and lithium ion cell batteries, to create volumetric opportunities for increase in overall power generation capacity and/or payload. This paper focuses on the design and fabrication aspects of the SB composites. The design objectives are to achieve or exceed structural performance of traditional marine composites while attaining a volumetric energy density of 50 Wh/L with similar buoyancy levels and dimensional sizes. The design process reveals that all four objectives can be achieved only if the components related to energy storage have the same mechanical and physical properties as the material being replaced. With commercially available batteries, at least three out of four objectives are met for the proposed SB designs. Selection of materials and fabrication methods are heavily influenced by the temperature limit of the battery cells, cell surface preparation for adhesion and load transfer, and power bussing layout. A companion paper addresses multifunctional performance characterization of these composites.
