Due to an increased interest in a greener built environment and with the construction industry increasing its environmental commitment, more energy efficiency measures are being taken in those areas in need. Different parties have different responsibilities in the construction process Higher standards in the procurement of contractors and subcontractors concerning energy efficiency will result in collaboration between different parties and can resolve in a more energy efficient construction process. In the role as the project owner and as a real estate company, Fastighets AB Brostaden wants to investigate further feasible standards during procurement. The main goal, on this basis, is to evaluate feasible efficiency measures regarding construction barracks and transportation. The report shall culminate in specific procurement requirements. The vision is to from the owner’s perspective create incentives for the contractors and subcontractors and to act as the foundation for further work towards a more energy efficient construction process. There are about 40,000 construction barracks in Sweden and the most frequently used barracks are in the report termed as standard barracks. These are barracks used since the 1990 century and in which no energy efficiency measures have been taken. Even though there are many possible efficiency measures to be taken, few are profitable. This report examines which measures that are considered to be profitable and what requirements that are feasible to set within the procurement of contractors. The transportation of goods is responsible for a large part of Sweden's total emissions. The amount of emissions is affected by the choice of transport vehicles but also the overall planning. The report links occurring problems and associates them with current measures and possible savings.

Errors that occur in a construction project often leads to overspending and a flawless project is next to impossible to achieve. However, one can try to reduce the risk of errors through good planning. Planning phase of a construction project is a very important part of the project, that's where you get into the construction project will be undertaken. Typically, it is unclear where the errors start but in the analyzes made by the Swedish Construction Federation, R-West and Chalmers during 1994-1996 has shown that errors often have their roots already in the start of the clients, designers, material suppliers and providers. Is there an error in the beginning, it is clear throughout the process, the designer does not check whether the architect or designer has done wrong, but based just on. (Josephson and Hammarlund 1996). In the design stage plan how the construction should be carried out in as much detail as possible. You see that everything works drawing wise so that everything fits as it is often confined spaces. The purpose of this report was to determine which wrongs occurs of the construction sites we have visited and why they occur and to recommend what they can do to avoid these mistakes in future projects. We have worked with two different contractors, Construction Klason AB in Vimmerby and Peab in Arvika, where we have been following a construction project at the building contractor. We have been out on the projects in which we have tried to observe the defects and also found some through the call. With errors, we believe that it is something that was not as it was planned, a deviation in the planning. It can also be wrong to give a stop or delay of any kind. We also found information through literature reports, student literature and articles from the internet. But the result is based mostly on our own observations on the ground and through conversations with various officials. The errors that occurred were due to lack of commitment a factor that was great on both projects. It has also emerged that poor communication and preparation for the planning meetings has been something that has contributed to some errors on the construction site, even ignorance, time pressure and unclear requirements have contributed to the failure. For a construction project should have as little disruption as possible, you should have plenty of time for planning, scanning and construction. But even good collaboration, communication, and accuracy is important for a construction project to work correctly.

Construction in Sweden is at a high level that has not been relevant since the Million Homes Programme in the 70s. Combining a high construction rate with Sweden's climate goal, which includes net zero greenhouse emissions by 2045, is a challenge which creates higher demands on sustainable solutions. One way to evaluate the climate impact of a building or building component is through a life cycle assessment. Therefore, the aim of this study is to, by using climate calculations in the construction phase, investigate which exterior wall construction should theoretically be used regarding climate impact and geography. The walls studied are curtain wall, and constructions including IsoTimber and hempcrete which are placed in Luleå, Stockholm and Malmö. The results show that the net emissions for the curtain wall are close to zero in all cities and varies between 4,9 and 15,7 CO2e per m2. For IsoTimber, the corresponding figures vary from -310,8 to -160,9 kg CO2e per m2, which shows an effect that could be considered positive. Climate-positive results were also shown for the construction with hempcrete: -96,1 to -58,2 kg CO2e per m2. For the curtain wall, the carbon dioxide emissions vary from 40,3 to 45,1 CO2e per m2. The construction with IsoTimber generates emissions that varies from 44,5 to 63,7 kg CO2e per m2. With hempcrete, emissions reached figures from 49,0 to 109,5 kg CO2e per m2. In summary, it was found that carbon dioxide emissions increase in all cities, between 10– 143%. The curtain wall has the lowest impact on the climate in all studied cities. However, if carbon storage is being accounted for, the construction with IsoTimber has the best figures. A conclusion that transports are important for the climate footprint can be drawn. However, it is above all the product phase that generates the highest carbon dioxide emissions.
