Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Women trafficking is a kind of activity in which women are exploited. In women trafficking activity , there is no consideration of women’s right. The target is those women can be used to get money as much as possible. The women can become the victim of women trafficking is due to the ability of the panders in doing persuasion. Through various strategies, these panders are successful in pushing these women to fall into this inhuman activity. One of the strategy is by politely ensuring them. This writing is aimed at describing the politeness strategy used by panders in persuading women to be the victim of women trafficking. The research is conducted in West Java (Bekasi, Cirebon, and Indramayu). The data are any utterances of the panders in persuading the women to be the victim of women trafficking. Observational method with note-taking, recording, and interviewing is used to collect data. The analysis is done by pragmatic and referential identity method related to the concept of politeness proposed Brown and Levinson (1987), Oktavianus and Revita (2013), Leech (2014), and Mira (2010). The result of analysis is descriptively presented. Having analyzed data, it is found that there are four politeness strategies used by the panders in woman trafficking activities. They are ( (a) bald on record; (b) positive politeness; (c) negative politeness; and (d) off record.---AbstrakPerdagangan perempuan merupakan bentuk kegiatan ekploitasi perempuan. Teknik analisi yg digunakan adlh analisis pragmatik dan metode identitas referensi yg relevan dg konsep “kesopanan” yg diusung olh Brown and Levinson (1987), Oktavianus and Revita (2013), Leech (2014), and Mira (2010). Data yg sdh terkumpul dianalisis secara deskriptif. Abstract:
Laboratory and field-cage experiments evaluated the efficacy of a water-soluble bait for control of adult diabroticites. The bait was composed of a water-soluble feeding stimulant derived from a bitter mutant of Hawkesbury watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris Schrad), a dye toxin (phloxine B: D & C Red Dye No. 28), and a modified food starch (Mira Sperse 626). In the laboratory, southern corn rootworm, Diabrotica undecimpunctata howardi Barber adults, were exposed to separate bait components and combinations thereof. Eighty percent of adults exposed to the complete bait formulation died within 24 h. Adult mortality increased with higher concentrations of dye and increasing light intensity. Incorporation of the feeding stimulant with the dye reduced the lethal time. The complete bait was most active in sunlight, killing 90% adults in 1 h. Under fluorescent lights, the LT90 for the adults was 48 h. In field cages, using corn plants treated with the bait formulation, numbers of live western corn rootworm, D. virgifera virgifera LeConte, adults were reduced by 80% compared with the untreated control. This new water soluble toxic bait appears suitable for testing on a larger scale in the field as a component of an IPM program for corn rootworm pests.

Abstract:
Context. Variability is a key property of stars on the asymptotic giant branch (AGB). Their pulsation period is related to the luminosity and mass-loss rate of the star. Long-period variables (LPVs) and Mira variables are the most prominent of all types of variability of evolved stars. The reddest, most obscured AGB stars are too faint in the optical and have eluded large variability surveys. Aims. We obtained a sample of LPVs by analysing K-band light curves (LCs) of a large number of sources in the direction of the Magellanic Clouds with the colours expected for red AGB stars ((J − K) > 3 mag or equivalent in other colour combinations). Methods. Selection criteria were derived based on colour-colour and colour-magnitude diagrams from the combination of the VISTA Magellanic Cloud (VMC) survey, Spitzer IRAC and AllWISE data. After eliminating LPVs with known periods shorter than 450 days, a sample of 1299 candidate obscured AGB stars was selected. K-band LCs were constructed by combining the epoch photometry available in the VMC survey with literature data, were analysed for variability, and fitted with a single period sine curve to derive mean magnitudes, amplitudes, and periods. A subset of 254 stars are either new variables, known variables where the period we find is better determined than the literature value, or variables with periods longer than 1000 days. The spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of these stars were fitted to a large number of templates. For this purpose the SEDs and Spitzer IRS spectra of some non-AGB stars (Be stars, HII regions and young stellar objects – YSOs) were also fitted to have templates of the most likely contaminants in the sample. Results. A sample of 217 likely LPVs is found. Thirty-four stars have periods longer than 1000 days, although some of them have alternative shorter periods. The longest period of a known Mira in the Magellanic Clouds from Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment data (with P = 1810 d) is derived to have a period of 2075 d based on its infrared LC. Two stars are found to have longer periods, but both have lower luminosities and smaller pulsation amplitudes than expected for Miras. Mass-loss rates and luminosities are estimated from the template fitting. Period-luminosity relations are presented for carbon (C-) and oxygen (O-) rich Miras that appear to be extensions of relations derived in the literature for shorter periods. The fit for the C stars is particularly well defined (with 182 objects) and reads Mbol = (−2.27 ± 0.20) ⋅ log P + (1.45 ± 0.54) mag with an rms of 0.41 mag. Thirty-four stars show pulsation properties typical of Miras while the SEDs indicate that they are not. Overall, the results of the LC fitting are presented for over 200 stars that are associated with YSOs.

Abstract:
Representing over 25% of the vegetable production, Brassicaceae crops are very important for Portuguese agriculture. Xanthomonas campestris pv. raphani (Xcr) was first described as the causative agent of a leaf spot disease affecting radish and turnip (4). Despite its ability to infect Solanaceae hosts upon inoculation, this pathogen affects mostly Brassicaceae plants. Typical symptoms include circular dark spots that become lighter and are occasionally surrounded by a chlorotic halo. In severely affected leaves, spots were not limited by the veins and coalesced into irregular shapes that perforated the leaves, rendering the plants unsuitable for marketing. In the early 2000s, several isolates causing leaf spots on Brassica oleracea varieties (cauliflower, white cabbage, savoy cabbage, and tronchuda cabbage) were collected in Sintra, near Lisbon. The isolates, identified as putative X. campestris (Xc), formed typical yellow mucoid and convex colonies when grown on YDC medium. Biochemical characterization (2) showed their ability to produce levan and hydrolyze starch and esculin. Isolates were also able to use celobiose, trehalose, glucose, mannose, raffinose, and sucrose. Furthermore, the isolates were oxidase negative and were unable to hydrolyze arginine and to use rhamnose, indol, inositol, and sorbitol, confirming them as Xc. The expected 619-bp amplicon was obtained for all isolates, after PCR using primers DLH120/DLH125 (1). Koch's postulates were fulfilled through pathogenicity tests on B. oleracea cv. Wirosa and Raphanus sativus, hosts susceptible to Xcr as well as to X. campestris pv. campestris (Xcc). Inoculations on B. carinata (Assession No. PI199947) and Solanum lycopersicum, hosts susceptible only to Xcr, were performed to confirm pathovar identification (2). Four plants of each host were inoculated with each isolate by spraying bacterial water suspensions (OD600 = 0.1) onto leaf surfaces. Positive and negative controls were performed using Xcc type strain (CFBP 5241) and sterile distilled water, respectively. Plants were kept 15 days with 16-h light and 8-h dark photoperiods at 24 and 18°C, respectively, at RH >80% and checked daily for symptom development. Leaf spots typical of Xcr were observed for all isolates on all hosts 5 days after inoculation. All isolates were recovered after re-isolation from inoculated plants, retaining their initial features. Negative control plants showed no symptoms, while CFBP 5241 caused V-shaped lesions, typical of Xcc, on B. oleracea cv. Wirosa and R. sativus. Further confirmation of the identification was attained by partial sequencing of the gyrB gene, using primers X.gyr.fsp.s1/X.gyr.rsp3 (3). Sequences from four isolates (CPBF 143, Genbank KM094906; CPBF 207, GenBank KM094907; CPBF 209, GenBank GU596416; and CPBF 1171, GenBank GU596419) were compared by nucleotide blast at NCBI and displayed higher levels of DNA similarity (>98%) to NCPPB 1946, the type strain for Xcr, than to NCPPB 528, the type strain for Xcc. The polyphasic approach combining phenotypic and genomic data confirmed the presence of X. campestris pv. raphani in Portugal for the first time. References: (1) T. Berg et al. Abstract:
REFERENCES Zvezdin A. Abstract:
Abstract Background Cardiovascular diseases are linked with oxidative stress which is the source of reactive oxidative and nitrative species, contributors of post-translational modification. Fibrinogen due to its high concentration in blood is considered as one of the most sought of targets of oxidative stress substances. Post-translational modifications of fibrinogen might influence its physiological function, thus affect hemostasis in the terms of fibrin nets forming and architecture or interaction with platelets. The aim of this study was to observe influence of in vivo fibrinogen modifications on formation of fibrin net and to identify amino acid residues prone to changes related to oxidative stress. Methods Plasma samples were collected from patients of The Military University Hospital Prague in the agreement with ethical committees of participating institutions and with informed consents from all subjects. Samples were divided into 4 groups: patients with acute coronary syndrome (A), patients with stroke (B), patients with thrombus localized in carotid vein (C) and control group (patients without coronary atherosclerosis; D). Fibrin net architecture was studied by scanning electron microscopy (Mira 3 LMH, Tescan Orsay Holding, a.s., Brno, Czech Republic). For identification of modified amino acids residue mass spectroscopy was used (Triple TOF 6600, Sciex). Molecular dynamics simulations of hydrated protein were performed in Gromacs software with Gromos force fields. Crystal structure 3GHG was used as a reference structure to which post-translational modifications were introduced manually in Yasara View. Results We found extensive both qualitative and quantitative changes in the structure of fibrinogen molecule in all groups of patients. Oxidative stress level differed among patient groups and between the control group. Different oxidative changes caused by in vivo modifications of fibrinogen affected quite distinctly the architecture of fibrin net. Modified amino acids were detected in all three fibrinogen chains. In gamma chain the localisation of modified amino acid residues correlated with the part of fibrinogen important for fibrin polymerisation. The impact of the most pronounced post-translational modifications on the secondary structure of fibrinogen was described by molecular dynamics simulations. Conclusions The results show that the degree of impairment of fibrinogen functions in the cardiovascular diseases is related to the level of oxidative stress. Characterization of oxidative fibrinogen modification and its precise meaning to the function of fibrinogen in hemostasis appears to be extremely helpful to better understanding of thrombotic/bleeding complications linked with various cardiovascular diseases. Abstract:
The aim of the article is to describe psycholinguistic meanings of the word-stimulus “playfulness” in the linguistic world-image of the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine. The main method of the conducted research was the psycholinguistic experiment. The sample according to the criteria “gender” (males and females – included both age groups) and “age” (18-35 and 36-60) included 1,600 respondents with 400 people in each sub-group of respondents. The overall number of reactions to stimulus “playfulness” comprised 1,600 associative reactions with 475 unique associations including word combinations and sentences, where 159 reactions have frequency over 1,316 individual associations, and 0 refusals. The semantic interpretation of the results of the free association test made it possible to single out 19 psycholinguistic meanings, 12 out of them accounted for more than 1%: 1) “cheerful and joyful state”, 2) “intention to attract the attention of the opposite or one’s own sex”, 3) “child-like spontaneity”, 4) “agility, physical activity of an animal”, 5) “daring and provocative behavior”, 6) “agility, physical behavior of a human being”, 7) “ease”, 8) “changeability”, 9) “behavior during a sexual intercourse”, 10) “carelessness”, 11) “mental activity”, 12) “deliberate deceit”. Taking into account the respondents’ verbal behavior, the following components of playfulness were identified: flirting, impishness, humor, fugue (eccentricity), ease, imagination. The formulated psycholinguistic meanings of playfulness can be fully considered as such that give the most adequate and reliable model of the systemic significance of the studied word and which reflects the reality of linguistic consciousness.
