Abstract:
This paper investigates the C-logit stochastic user equilibrium (SUE) problem on a bimodal transportation network with road and rail travel modes. The C-logit model captures the overlapping effect among the different paths via commonality factors; sequentially, it has ability to obtain a more realistic traffic flow distribution pattern. In this paper, when we redefine the link travel cost functions and employ a binary Logit model for the mode split, the bimodal C-logit SUE model can be simplified into an unconstrained nonlinear mathematical programming formulation. Such model is verified to sa

Travel forecasting models predict changes in the travel patterns and propose improvements. This study evaluates the parameters in route choice models, such as binomial, proportional, multinomial logit, and C-logit in microscopic simulation-based dynamic traffic assignment. The average Geoffrey E. Havers (GEH) index of each route choice model was tabulated when comparing the simulated flow of the junctions with the observed flow. The results indicated that the binomial model generally yields the lowest GEH value, but since the model does not consider the travel costs in the decision process, it

Abstract This article attempts to explain and predict the termination of relationships in telecommunications services by using the hybrid C&RT-logit model. The combination of decision trees (C&RT algorithm) with the logistic model enriches the model interpretation and sometimes improves the accuracy of prediction. Decision trees permit to detect interactions among variables and make the model resistant to outliers and to lack of data. On the other hand, the logistic model can extend the interpretation by using odds ratios. The solution delivered by the hybrid approach was compared with

A central issue in the assignment problem is the behavioral assumption governing route choice, which concerns the definition of available routes and the choice model. Although the multinomial logit model can be implemented efficiently in stochastic network loading algorithms, the model suffers from theoretical drawbacks, some of them arising from the independence of irrelevant alternatives property. Synchronous designs are relatively easy to produce, but require the system clock to run at the speed of the slowest part of the entire circuit. Self-timed (asynchronous) circuits offer the promise of being able to use resources more effectively, however they require much more design effort while not always delivering the expected gains. Systems code is almost universally written in the C programming language or a variant. C has a very low level of type and memory abstraction and formal reasoning about C systems code requires a memory model that is able to capture the semantics of C pointers and types. At the same time, proof-based verification demands abstraction, in particular from the aliasing and frame problems. In this thesis, we study the mechanisation of a series of models, from semantic to separation logic, for achieving this abstraction when performing interactive theorem-prover based verification of C systems code i

We introduce an extension of the lightweight Description Logic EL that allows us to de_ne concepts in an approximate way. For this purpose, we use a graded membership function, which for each individual and concept yields a number in the interval [0, 1] expressing the degree to which the individual belongs to the concept. Threshold concepts C~t for ~ then collect all the individuals that belong to C with degree ~ t. We generalize a well-known characterization of membership in EL concepts to construct a specific graded membership function deg, and investigate the complexity of reasoning in the

Abstract:
Golog is a high-level action programming language for controlling autonomous agents such as mobile robots. It is defined on top of a logic-based action theory expressed in the Situation Calculus. Before a program is deployed onto an actual robot and executed in the physical world, it is desirable, if not crucial, to verify that it meets certain requirements (typically expressed through temporal formulas) and thus indeed exhibits the desired behaviour. However, due to the high (first-order) expressiveness of the language, the corresponding verification problem is in general undecidable. In this

We have then investigated the complexity of reasoning in the Description Logic τEL(deg), which is obtained from EL b

In Description Logics the reasoning service most specific concept (msc) constructs a concept description that generalizes an ABox individual into a concept description. For the Description Logic EL the msc may not exist, if computed with respect to general EL-TBoxes or cyclic ABoxes. However, it is still possible to find a concept description that is the msc up to a fixed role-depth, i.e. with respect to a maximal nesting of quantifiers. In this report we present a practical approach for computing the roledepth bounded msc, based on the polynomial-time completion algorithm for EL. We extend th

Abstract:
The PRCI Corrosion Technical Committee was interested in improving ILI sizing analysis for long complex corrosion. A parallel PRCI research project, EC-4-5 Quantification of ILI Sizing Errors and Improving Correction Factors performed by C-FER, collected data and performed analysis to develop correction factors for ILI sizing errors based on high-resolution non-destructive laser scan data. The goals of this project are to expand on the parallel PRCI project EC-4-5 by developing burst pressure correction factors for long complex corrosion. This goal is achieved by determining the types of corro

This Start-Up Grant (SUG) application aims to develop and redesign of the Singapore Coding Scheme 2 (SCS2) for Science. This project builds towards the Core 3 Panel 3 Research Program (Core 3) that seeks to record, measure and analyse the intellectual quality of knowledge work in Singapore classrooms. Building on the Core 1 and Core 2 research programs, Core 3 focuses on the relationships between instruction, pedagogy, assessment and student learning. The broad key objectives for Core 3 are: (a) to continue to develop the model of the logic of teaching and learning in Singapore classrooms expa
