Absorption spectra are detected for C60− and C602− produced electrolytically in solution at room temperature. Theoretical analysis of the spectrum of C60− by CNDO/S calculations gives an interpretation of the characteristic near-IR bands, the weak visible bands, and the strong bands in the UV region. The emission spectrum of C60− is a mirror image of the near-IR absorption band, and the detection of the emission reconfirms our original assignment of the absorption spectrum. The nature of the spectrum of C602− is characterized by a similar orbital picture to that of C60−. Further laser experime

The polymerization of C60 molecules in SWNT cave under both laser irradiation and pressure effects has been studied. Fatigue is a universal phenomenon with functional and perceptual consequences. The study of fatigue in the exercise sciences has historically focussed on factors that limit performance during exercise. More recent proposals have shifted the focus of this understanding to examine how intensity is regulated during exercise through the study of the pacing strategy, which has both physiological and practical consequences. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the biological basis of self-pacing and the optimum pacing strategy for endurance time-trial events. Study 1 assessed the reproducibilit

In Chapter 1, I provide a formal development of alethic pluralism. Pluralism is the view that there are distinct truth properties associated with distinct domains of subject matter, where a truth property satisfies certain truth-characterizing principles. After all of the adjustments, it appears that Allen’s welfare ratios underestimate the welfare ratios of a demographically representative group of families, especially if women

The frictional behavior of the C60 intercalated graphite films with a large size of 2.3×2.3mm2 is reported. The C60 intercalated graphite films consist of alternating close-packed C60 monolayers and graphite layers (graphenes), and thus many sliding planes are formed between each C60 monolayer and graphene. The intercalation of C60 molecules into graphite films results in superlubricity where frictional forces are observed to be stationarily zero.
