Este estudo visa tratar sobre a representatividade da beleza negra, mais especificamente do cabelo crespo, levando em conta os estudos já realizados sobre a estética negra, assim como a agenda do feminismo negro. Através de uma etnografia digital em canais do Youtube que tratam sobre cabelos crespos, busca-se compreender a relação entre o consumo de produtos para o cabelo crespo, e como se dá a representatividade das mulheres negras em meios digitais e a construção de uma beleza negra. Por fim, visa-se analisar esta interação na tentativa de compreender dimensões da estética negra percebidas também como resistência política e social pelas mulheres negras.

Neste artigo visa-se tratar sobre as interações entre novas mercadorias de consumo e a beleza negra, mais especificamente o cabelo crespo. Desta maneira, procura-se observar e analisar a possível construção da identidade estética das mulheres negras. Através de uma etnografia digital em canais do Youtube que tratam sobre cabelos crespos, busca-se compreender a relação entre o consumo de produtos para o cabelo crespo e a construção de uma beleza negra pelas mulheres negras. O intuito de fazer uma etnografia digital, que se relaciona também a militância fora das redes sociais, é de compreender os usos dos produtos, além das relações entre as mulheres negras, as mídias, e as novas mercadorias estéticas, a fim de perceber possíveis espaços de visibilidade para a beleza negra através do consumo. Assim, através das youtubers afirma-se uma luta para visibilidade e inclusão da mulher negra através da beleza como pauta política e atual que vai além do consumo e além da esfera digital.

O artigo busca, através das histórias dos cabelos de mulheres negras, presentes nos livros Esse Cabelo: A tragicomédia de um cabelo crespo que cruza fronteiras (2015), de Djamilia Pereira de Almeida e Americanah (2014) de Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, discutir a identidade e necessidade de descolonização do pensamento na construção e desconstrução da autoimagem da mulher negra. Para tanto, estabelecemos diálogos com Bauman (2013), Hall (2013), Bhabha (1998), Spivak (2005) e Fanon (2008) para discutir os constructos identitários de sujeitos subalternos, pós-modernos e pós-coloniais, trançando a subjetividade de mulheres negras na diáspora moderna.

O objetivo do presente texto é refletir sobre o processo de negação e/ou afirmação identitária das protagonistas em Impressões de uma infância (Cadernos Negros, no 36), de autoria de Silvana Martins (2013) e no romance Americanah, de Chimamanda Adichie (2014), a partir da relação com os seus cabelos crespos. Para tanto, realizamos a pesquisa bibliográfica e nos norteamos em estudos oriundos da literatura em interface com outras áreas do conhecimento. Com base nos estudos de Cuti, Florentina Souza, Jailma Moreira, Ana Rita Santiago e Eduardo Duarte, situamos a noção de literatura negra/afro-brasileira e destacamos a relevância das abordagens que visibilizam as vozes/linguagens das margens (HALL, 2005; hooks, 2019). Dentre estas, as referidas obras e respectivas fundamentações. À guisa da conclusão, refletimos acerca do impacto do padrão estético brancocêntrico (cabelos lisos ou alisados) para a re/constituição identitária das protagonistas culminando-se, por fim, com a “autorrecuperação” (hooks, 2019) e, por conseguinte, a reexistência.

O trabalho estabelece uma articulação entre os processos educativos escolares e não-escolares e a construção da identidade negra. Discutem-se as representações e as concepções semelhantes, diferentes e complementares sobre o corpo negro e o cabelo crespo, construídas dentro e fora do ambiente escolar, a partir de lembranças de adolescentes e jovens negras entrevistadas durante a realização de uma pesquisa etnográfica sobre corpo e cabelo como ícones identitários em salões étnicos. Pretende-se compreender o significado social do cabelo e do corpo e os sentidos a eles atribuídos pela escola e pelos sujeitos negros entrevistados. O entendimento desse contexto revela que o corpo como suporte de construção da identidade ainda não tem sido uma temática privilegiada nos estudos sobre relações raciais e educação.

Através da escrita autoficcional, do seu livro de estreia, e da ficcional de sua segunda publicação, será observado de que forma a intertextualidade realizada pela autora, entre os seus dois livros e com outras obras, se processou na tematização das perdas de utopias, que culminarão na revisão de discursos políticos que foram processados em Portugal e na África.

O artigo trata de uma pesquisa que teve como objeto o processo de transição capilar relacionado aos usos de plataformas de mídias digitais no Brasil. Seu objetivo foi compreender os impactos deste processo para a construção de identificações de mulheres negras e não-negras, considerando as representações acerca do cabelo crespo e da população negra. Foi realizada através de uma etnografia por meios digitais e teve como materiais publicações de um blog sobre transição capilar, a observação de uma amostra de grupos na plataforma Facebook e relatos fornecidos através de um questionário estruturado. A transição capilar tem impactado a construção de identificações de parte dessas mulheres que negociam e produzem formas de autorrepresentação em um contexto de disputa pelo significado do uso do cabelo natural.

Discutimos neste artigo a questão do empoderamento das identidades infantis negras a partir da desconstrução dos estereótipos de beleza, considerando o cabelo crespo, a pele negra e as culturas infantis, no contexto de uma creche da Rede Municipal de São Paulo. A pesquisa evidencia como o toque e as formas de cuidar, pentear, enfeitar o cabelo retratam fortes mensagens para as meninas negras nas relações que elas estabelecem com as professoras e com outras crianças, para a construção positiva de suas identidades. Utilizamos como referência a Sociologia da Infância para investigar o ponto de vista das crianças, compreendendo-as como atores sociais portadoras de história e produtoras de cultura. As relações étnico-raciais e de gênero também se configuram como categorias de análise dos dados coletados. Os resultados indicam a relevância de investigações que abordem os diferentes aspectos das complexas e intrincadas relações entre gênero, raça e infâncias no cotidiano das creches.

Através de uma etnografia em eventos como o CacheiaSul e a Marcha do Orgulho Crespo em Porto Alegre, assim como uma etnografia digital em canais do Youtube que tratam sobre cabelos crespos, busca-se compreender a relação entre o consumo de produtos para o cabelo crespo e a construção de uma beleza negra pelas mulheres negras. Interessa contextualizar o processo de busca das mulheres negras pelo reconhecimento nas dimensões estética, política e social, além de observar e analisar a possível construção da identidade estética das mulheres negras através das novas mercadorias de consumo para cabelos crespos. Deste modo, busca-se analisar a possível construção e afirmação estética das mulheres negras através da possibilidade de criação e interação em vídeos disponíveis no Youtube. O intuito de fazer uma etnografia digital, que se relaciona também a militância fora das redes sociais, é de compreender os usos dos produtos, além das relações entre as mulheres negras, as mídias, e as novas mercadorias estéticas, a fim de perceber possíveis espaços de visibilidade para a beleza negra através do consumo. Por fim, visa-se analisar esta interação na tentativa de compreender dimensões da estética negra percebidas também como resistência política e social pelas mulheres negras.<br>This dissertation aims to deal with the interactions between new forms of consumption and black beauty, more specifically curly hair, taking into account the studies already carried out on black aesthetics, as well as the agenda of black feminism. Through an ethnography in events such as CacheiaSul and the Marcha do Orgulho Crespo in Porto Alegre, as well as a digital ethnography on YouTube channels that deal with curly hair, we seek to understand the relationship between the consumption of products for curly hair and the building of a black beauty by the black women. It is interesting to contextualize the process of black women's search for recognition in the aesthetic, political and social dimensions, besides observing and analyzing the possible construction of the aesthetic identity of the black woman through the new aesthetic consumer goods. In this way, we seek to analyze the possible construction and aesthetic affirmation of the black women through the possibility of creation and interaction in videos available on Youtube. The purpose of making a digital ethnography, wich also relates to militancy outside social networks, is to understand uses of products, relations between black women, media, and new aesthetic products, in order to perceive possible new spaces of visibility for black beauty through consumption. Finally, it aims to analyze this interaction in the attempt to understand dimensions of the black aesthetics also seem as political and social resistance by black women.

Mirza lati dojuko ẹlẹyamẹya, deede si awọn iriri bi malunga ni a hovel ti o permeates awọn alaye ninu awọn arosọ.<br>Esta dissertação está vinculada à linha de pesquisa Desenvolvimento Humano, Diferença e Valores do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Estadual Paulista (FCT/UNESP) e foi gestada a partir de algumas perguntas suleadoras: “O que as pesquisas acadêmicas dos Programas de Pós-Graduação em Educação (PPGEs) do Estado de São Paulo revelam sobre as práticas educativas racistas e antirracistas na Educação Infantil?” e “Quais eixos sobre Educação das Relações Étnicas e Raciais Negras (RERN) podem ser mais relevantes na luta antirracista?”. Como questão subsidiária elaborou-se um capítulo para responder à existência de uma história e historiografia da educação da criança negra. Para responder a estas questões foi realizado um estudo de cunho bibliográfico da produção de dissertações e teses dos campus da Unesp de Marília, de Presidente Prudente, de Rio Claro, e Araraquara – Educação Escolar; na Faculdade de Educação da USP; na Faculdade de Educação da UNICAMP e na Faculdade de Educação da UFSCar: sete PPGEs de quatro instituições de ensino público de São Paulo. Este levantamento considerou 192 trabalhos que tratam das RERN em um universo total de 6.873 dissertações e teses defendidas em 14 anos de produção acadêmica na Pós-Graduação em Educação (2000 a 2014). As análises procedidas das dissertações e teses identificadas no processo de estudo, tiveram como contributo fundamental a tônica afroperspectivista: conjunto de pontos de vista, estratégias, sistemas e modos de pensar e viver de matrizes africanas; gestada pelo Movimento Negro no Brasil e na diáspora negra, como sujeito político da Educação Popular, além da inspiração da filosofia ubuntu (uma pessoa só é uma pessoa através de outras pessoas). The conducted analysis of the identified dissertations and theses in the study process had as a fundamental contributor the afroperspectivist keynote: set of points of views, strategies, systems and thinking and living manners of African matrices; created by the Black Movement in Brazil and in the black diaspora, as a political subject of Popular Education, beyond the inspiration of the Ubuntu philosophy (one person is just a person through other people). The cyclic study has also taken into consideration the researcher‟s background, which comprehends the militancy as an important strategy on the fight against racism, reporting the lived experience as a Malunga in a mocambo, which surpasses the narrative on the dissertation.

Salon, located in Historical Center in Sao Luís-Ma. This paper tries to understand symbolic,
cultural, political and religious representations concerned to black men and women s hair.
This research emphasizes that individual aesthetics has a relation to an image politics that is
inside an identity resistence context. In this sense, hair study acquires several meanings when
is related to racial relation system. Therefore, hair study can help us to think about different
aspects belong to black identity. Afro Zíndze Beauty Salon is an exceptional place to this kind
of investigation. In general, the curly hair even stigmatized, it has a resignification which is
transformed in identity and self-esteem symbol.<br>A presente dissertação é resultado de uma pesquisa etnográfica desenvolvida no salão de
beleza Afro Zíndze, situado no centro histórico da cidade de São Luís-Ma. O trabalho procura
dar conta dos significados (simbólico, cultural, político e religioso) concernentes à estetização
dos cabelos de negros e negras. Procura ressaltar que a experiência estética vivenciada pelos
sujeitos está relacionada com uma política da imagem inserida num contexto de resistência
identitária. Nessa perspectiva, o cabelo adquire múltiplas significações quando pensado no
interior do sistema das relações raciais. O cabelo, portanto, nos ajuda a refletir sobre os
diferentes aspectos atinentes à identidade negra. O salão Afro Zíndze revela-se, nesse caso,
como espaço privilegiado que permite pensar não somente os conflitos relativos à imagem de
negros e negras, mas também os aspectos relacionados com a valorização identitária e
resistência a partir da estetização dos cabelos. Em decorrência disso, o cabelo crespo,
socialmente visto sob a ótica do estigma, não sem contradições, é ressignificado e convertido
em símbolo de afirmação identitária e de valorização de auto-estima.

Previous issue date: 2016-02-23<br>In this present study we tell the story of four black ladies whose curly hair is a protagonist on their daily lives. Such stories bring to light situations of racism, sexism, as well as the search for self and world understanding which most black women go through during their relationship with their hair strings: childhood, capillary transition and empowerment of the curly hair strings. In order to interact with such plots (or drama) we use as basis Gomes, Bakhtin, Bhabha, Fanon, Certeau, Adichie, among other writers that contributed significantly for the ethical and aesthetic research materialized in this work. The methodology has been created under the indications of attentive hearing and lovingness proposed by Bakhtin. This author has guided us regarding the abrangent literary aesthetic finishing and at the same time revealer of the tensions present in the diversity of daily life.<br>No presente estudo contamos a hist?ria de quatro mulheres negras e o protagonismo dos seus cabelos crespos no cotidiano das suas vidas. Tais hist?rias trazem ? tona situa??es de racismo, sexismo, bem como a busca pela compreens?o de si e de mundo pelas quais a maioria das mulheres negras enfrenta durante algumas etapas pontuais no relacionamento com seus fios: inf?ncia, transi??o capilar, e empoderamento dos fios crespos. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior<br>This study covers the hair of black women in the city of Santa Maria / RS as a diacritical mark of blackness. It is an ethnographic study in two environments: the Angelita‟s beauty saloon and the Treze de Maio Museum, the first prevail straightened hair and the second the curly hair. The work is mainly aimed to analyze the different meanings the different ways of african hair manipulation: smoothing, relaxing, African permanent hair extensions, Nago braids and natural curly. Through this research it is clear that such a choice is linked to the multiple identities and social environments experienced by these women: The Treze de Maio museum, the Carnival, the "ballads", and feasts. In the first case it was found that women undergo a "ritual of afrianization and especially in the latter case, largely, there is a lessening of blackness. Are also taken representations associated with that choice such as good looks for work and loving relationships. It was also found that the generation is an important variable to understand the choice determined by capillary handling, for older women undergo a major face to use your natural hair and, on the other hand, for younger, makes it easier for assumed it. The fact that younger women are more open to take its natural curly is because of experiencing a moment of appreciation of blackness. This process can be understood by the performance of black activist movements, re-africanization process and exaltation of the African "roots", by affirmative action policies, among other elements.<br>O presente estudo aborda o cabelo da mulher negra na cidade de Santa Maria/RS como um sinal diacrítico de negritude. Trata-se de um estudo etnográfico realizado em dois ambientes: o salão da Angelita e o Museu Treze de Maio. No primeiro prevalecem os cabelos alisados e nosegundo os crespos. O trabalho tem como objetivo central analisar os diferentes significados atribuídos às distintas maneiras de manipulação do cabelo afro: alisamento, relaxamento, permanente afro, mega hair, tranças nagô e os crespos naturais. Por meio desta pesquisa percebeu-se que tal escolha está ligada às múltiplas identidades e ambientes de sociabilidade vivenciados por essas mulheres: o Museu Treze de Maio, o Carnaval, as baladas , e as festas solenes. No primeiro caso foi verificado que as mulheres passam por um ritual de africanização e, sobretudo, no último caso em grande parte há uma atenuação da negritude. São também levadas representações associadas a essa escolha, como por exemplo, a boa aparência para o trabalho e os relacionamentos amorosos. Também se verificou que a geração é uma variável importante para entender a escolha por determinada manipulação capilar, pois as mulheres mais velhas passam por um enfrentamento maior para utilizar o seu cabelo natural e, em contrapartida, para as mais novas há uma maior facilidade em assumi-lo. O fato das mulheres mais novas estarem mais abertas a assumirem seus crespos naturais deve-se ao fato de vivenciarem um momento de valorização da negritude. Tal processo pode ser entendido pela atuação dos movimentos ativistas negros, pelo processo de reafricanização e exaltação das raízes africanas, pelas políticas de ações afirmativas, dentre outros elementos.

The research, carried out in the poor areas of São Paulo, focused on cultural collective movements, in which young Afro-Brazilians manifest themselves through Black and peripheral literary narratives and performances, with poetry readings, songs, plays, blogs, magazines, adornments, clothing, grafitti, tattoos, particularly kinky hairstyles in intercultural, intertextual and mediatic relations, expressing their Blackness, in a perspective of a “corporeal semiology”. They are current cultural identity practices in a productive dialogue with the past, in a continuous Afro diasporic struggle for culture and (self) representation in the racial relations of modernity<br>Esse estudo levantou e trouxe para análise questões relacionadas a cabelo crespo, entendido enquanto território de insurgências em estéticas de reexistência na decolonialidade de corpos, seres e saberes invisibilizados por padrão cultural hegemônico eurocêntrico. Assim, considerando o cabelo crespo e cacheado enquanto um objeto simbólico relacionado aos marcadores de raça e gênero, acreditamos que essas mulheres contribuem para a ressignificação deste universo invisibilizado pelo alisamento e pelo pouco espaço de representatividade que elas ocupam nas mídias tradicionais. Notamos, portanto, que as possibilidades oferecidas pelos hibridismos da cibercultura à formação de grupos dispersos e de baixo custo permitiram que essas YouTubers “crespas” e “cacheadas” criassem esse espaço de fala entrecruzado dos seus canais. Dessa forma, como orientação de pesquisa, buscamos responder a pergunta: de que maneira as YouTubers conformam uma vivência “crespa” e “cacheada” atravessada por conflitos de gênero e raça e como esse processo reflete outras relações de construção de si no âmbito da cibercultura? Como metodologia de investigação, tomamos a concepção dos modos de endereçamento (Elizabeth ELLSWORTH, 2001) para buscarmos indícios das escolhas onde essas YouTubers dão a ver sua tentativa de diálogo com o atual contexto ideológico e político acerca do cabelo. Como chaves de leitura, nos propomos olhar especialmente para elementos das performances (Paula SIBILIA, 2015; 2016) e apropriações (Suzana MORALES, 2009) dessas ferramentas sociotécnicas (tanto do YouTube quanto da produção e linguagem audiovisual). Para operacionalizar tais conceitos, criamos quatro categorias de análise - o espaço visível; as formas de enunciação de si; a significação; as guias e recortes ou apropriação do objeto – a partir das quais observamos uma amostra intencional de 22 vídeos. Percebemos, ao final da pesquisa, que as YouTubers "crespas" e "cacheadas" constituem uma vivência cuja subjetividade se constitui nas telas. O contexto midiatizado em que se inserem faz com que demonstrem uma notável familiaridade com o YouTube e o audiovisual, em um processo recursivo. Além disso, percebemos que há um esforço em constituir vínculos, sejam eles em relação umas às outras, ao público ou mesmo aos próprios vídeos dos canais, criando comunidades e reforçando as suas similaridades. A redescoberta dos cabelos crespos e cacheados é um marco em suas vidas e, para além de algo a ser 'controlado', ele é apontado por elas como um elemento a ser redescoberto e externado. Assim, o cabelo é o ponto em comum que motiva suas vivências, o que gera algumas tensões uma vez que os atravessamentos de gênero e raça não são minimizados ou colocados de lado em suas discussões.<br>Based on a number of Youtube channels, produced by women and that talk about curly hair and related themes, this research has as its main objective the analysis of how the appropriation of this audio-visual online platform contributes to the spread, visibility and performance of these female Youtubers. Therefore, taking curly and wavy hairs as symbolic objects related to race and gender markers, it is believed that these women contribute to the redetermination of this universe made invisible by hair straightening culture and by the small space available for representativeness that it has in traditional media. Thus, we notice that the possibilities offered by the hybridisms of cyberculture to the formation of scattered and low cost groups allowed these “curly” and “wavy” Youtubers to create this space of crossing talks in their channels. Hence, as researching orientation, we try to answer the following question: in what ways the Youtubers form a “curly” and “wavy” life experience pervaded by gender and race conflicts, and how this process reflects other self-constructions relations in the fieldwork of cyberculture? As researching methodology, we take the concept of the mode of address (Elizabeth ELLSWORTH, 2001) to search for indications of these Youtubers’ choices in which they demonstrate, intentionally or not, their attempt of trying a dialogue with the current ideological and political context regarding hair. As key readings, we propose to especially look upon elements of the Youtubers’ performances (Paula SIBILIA, 2015; 2016) and appropriations (Suzana MORALES, 2009) of these social-technical tools (as much from Youtube as from audio-visual production and language). In order to operationalize such concepts, it was created four categories of analysis – the visible space; the forms of enunciation, per se; the signification; the guides and snippets or the appropriation of the object – from which we observed an intentional sampling of 22 videos. We realised, at the end of the research, that the “curly” and “wavy” Youtubers constitute a living whose subjectivity is reproduced on the screens. The mediatized context in which they are inserted make them demonstrate a notable familiarity with Youtube and audio-visual as a recursive process. Besides, we noticed that there is an effort to build links, be they between the Youtubers, between them and the public or even between the channel’s own videos, and that creates communities. In turn, these communities reinforce their similarities. The rediscovery of the the curly and wavy hairs is a milestone in their lives and, besides being something to be ‘controlled’, it is pointed by these women as an element to be rediscovered and externalised. Thus, the hair is the common point that motivates their livings, what generates some tensions since the crossings of gender and race are not reduced or put aside in their discussions.

This questioning drives this research, which seeks to answer the question under P?cheux?s Discourse Analysis theoretical contribution. The proposal is to present the aspects related to the concepts of senses, ideological formation, discursive formation, interdiscourse, discursive memory and silencing, elements that are intrinsic to the notion of discourse and to the subjects that are discussed on Facebook communities. Black women occupy the place of the discourse?s object, which produces and reproduces senses based on certain conditions of production. Thus, on Facebook there is a competition between different discursive formations, allowing the resumption, resignification and rupture of historically constructed meanings about black women and beauty standards. Through the posts and comments on chosen communities, it was analyzed how social, historical and ideological issues permeate the discourses about the black women subject and the process of acceptance and / or rejection of nappy hair in the virtual environment, which reflects, in many aspects, what is present in the real environment. Senses that are attributed to hair do not refer only to the aesthetic, but to the way the image of the black women was socially constituted.<br>Quais os efeitos de sentidos gerados sobre a mulher negra a partir da no??o de cabelos crespos nas comunidades do facebook, voltadas para a tem?tica cabelo? Este questionamento fundamenta esta pesquisa, que busca responder ? pergunta por meio do aporte te?rico a An?lise de Discurso Pecheutiana. A proposta ? apresentar os aspectos relacionados aos conceitos de sentidos, forma??o ideol?gica, forma??o discursiva, interdiscurso, mem?ria discursiva e silenciamento, elementos que s?o intr?nsecos ? no??o de discurso e aos sujeitos que discursivizam nas comunidades do facebook. As mulheres negras, ocupam o lugar de sujeito do discurso, que produzem e reproduzem sentidos pautados em determinadas condi??es de produ??o. Assim, no facebook ocorre embate entre forma??es discursivas distintas, permitindo a retomada, ressignifica??o e rompimento de sentidos constru?dos historicamente sobre mulher negra e padr?o de beleza. Atrav?s das postagens e coment?rios nas comunidades selecionadas, analisou-se como as quest?es sociais, hist?ricas e ideol?gicas permeiam os discursos a respeito do sujeito-mulher negra e o processo de aceita??o e/ou rejei??o dos cabelos crespos no ambiente virtual, que reflete, em in?meros aspectos, o que est? presente no ambiente real. Aos cabelos s?o atribu?dos sentidos que n?o se referem apenas ? est?tica, mas ? forma como a imagem da mulher negra foi constitu?da socialmente.

Este trabajo presenta una mirada «micro» de las políticas sociales, analizando la incidencia del Plan Más Vida en las relaciones sociales y políticas establecidas entre los diversos actores que participan como agentes ejecutores locales y barriales en barrios de los partidos mencionados. El eje central está puesto en la percepción de los actores sobre sus respectivos roles y de su relación con los demás, dentro de sus propios contextos sociales e institucionales.

O cabelo crespo, como parte de um corpo negro, tem sido alvo de demonstrações de racismo. Percebido como um cabelo inferior e desprovido de beleza, ele sofre constantemente com a interseccionalidade da opressão de gênero, raça e classe social. Os efeitos dessas opressões, que são reiteradamente reforçadas pelos meios de comunicação, sujeitam mulheres negras a noções de inferioridade que impactam suas identidades. Ser constantemente associada à falta de feminilidade, à ausência de beleza e à pobreza impacta a autoestima e compromete uma construção identitária baseada em premissas positivas. À medida que essas associações são internalizadas, passam a oprimir e paralisam a mulher negra em um local de inferioridade. Perceber como essas opressões ocorrem e como são reforçadas diariamente pelo senso comum e pela mídia pode ser um passo importante para resistir.

Subsea processing is a key aspect of ExxonMobil’s subsea technology qualification efforts. Consequently, the reliable delivery of high voltage power to subsea equipment offshore, such as multi-phase pumps, is essential. The base case involves power delivery up to 30 kV via copper cables embedded in umbilicals to a water depth of 1,500m over a design life of 30 years. Since umbilicals are often suspended from a floating facility in deepwater, the power cables are subjected to static load due to the umbilical weight and to cyclic loads in response to the floating facility motions. Therefore, sufficient mechanical resistance to preclude electrical failure is needed to achieve safe and cost-effective designs. To that end, an experimental program was completed aimed at developing a qualification methodology and collecting data on the effect of static and cyclic loads on the mechanical and electrical performance of copper power cables. This paper presents the experimental approaches and results obtained from creep, fatigue, and electrical tests performed on 18/30kV, 95mm2 copper conductor cable specimens. Specifically, the program included (a) five monotonic tension tests to failure to characterize the cable, (b) 11 creep tests to develop a load-time performance curve, and (c) 59 fatigue tests under pulsating tension, of which 50 used short-cable samples to evaluate the effect of mean load and nine used long samples for electrical testing following fatigue. A fatigue curve is proposed that includes the effect of mean load and temperature. However, fatigue results can be sensitive to the cable material and mechanical characteristics of a particular cable.

Partiendo del proyecto expositivo que lleva por título “Que no cabe en la cabeza”, presentado en el Centro del Carmen (Valencia) en 2016-2017, se plantea aquí una reflexión sobre las condiciones que ciertas obras de arte imponen en el ver y, por lo tanto, en la recepción de las intenciones poéticas del artista que las ha creado. Se trata así de plantear un posible acercamiento al arte contemporáneo desde unas claves de lectura íntimamente relacionadas con el saber del proceso, con la materia, con el tiempo y con la demora. La naturaleza escurridiza e impermanente de estos trabajos ayuda a darse cuenta de que son infinitas las cosas y las cuestiones que se escapan precisamente porque no nos caben en la cabeza, porque somos incapaces de entender, de comprender, de asimilar. Y sin embargo, es inmenso el poder que “esa cabeza” tiene sobre nuestra propia subjetividad y enorme el protagonismo que en nuestra cultura occidental le hemos otorgado a esa forma de conocer. Esta ponencia, partiendo del proyecto artístico al que se ha hecho referencia, pretende reflexionar sobre esa paradoja propia de nuestro hegemónico sistema cultural en el que quedan cubiertos o debilitados otros modos de conocer capaces de impregnarse de los distintos universos personales e intransferibles de lo vivido.http://dx.doi.org/10.4995/ANIAV.2017.4893

Dynamic subsea power cables are used for distribution of electric power to subsea units for oil and gas production and for power distribution from offshore wind mills. As the cables are suspended from the sea level to sea floor, a dynamic analysis is normally required to ensure that the cables are able to withstand the dynamic tension and bending caused by waves and vessel movements. The fatigue property of a conductor is determined by the mechanical properties of the individual wires and stress concentration caused by wire interaction. Previous publications on steel wires and ropes have brought light on the effect of R-ratio and wire interaction such as fretting and inter wire slippage. For copper conductors the complexity of fatigue is multiplied by the fact that the individual wires have a nonlinear stress-strain behavior well below the defined yield stress limit and poor creep properties below maximum cable operation temperatures. Moreover, the interaction between the wires is determined not only by the contact between copper surfaces but also by the water blocking compound in between the wires normally required for subsea cables. A test method, simulating the fatigue mechanism in a dynamic power cable, including the effect from friction, fretting, creep properties of copper and high tension at deep waters is presented together with test results for a representative conductor.

In some areas of the world, subsea pipeline hydrodynamic stability is one of the most fundamental aspects of pipeline design. Several design approaches can be used to analyse pipeline stability, ranging from simple force-balance calculations to complex dynamic finite element analysis. Effective and accurate pipeline stability analysis is essential to avoid the potentially high costs associated with complex stabilisation solutions. As it stands the current engineering practices using absolute stability or generalized stability do not explicitly account for pipeline stiffness, hence do not distinguish any difference in response between flexible and rigid pipelines of similar SG and diameter under a given metocean condition. Observations of recent WGK dynamic stability analyses show that pipelines that have identical properties but very different stiffness will exhibit significantly different lateral response under the same metocean conditions. Studies investigating sensitivity of predicted lateral response versus the number of storm random seed realisations have also been observed to show little or no correlation between the peak wave velocity and peak pipeline response. Recognising that in directionally spread wave conditions, peak wave events do not tend to be associated with the widest wave crests in a seastate, this paper will investigate the nature of wave velocity and crest width characteristics leading to pipeline lateral displacement events (width and net movement) within a storm, and how this varies with pipeline stiffness. Further understanding of the mechanisms driving pipeline response are therefore expected, based on the hypothesis that both pipeline stiffness and the crest width of waves capable of causing pipeline displacement are important parameters. It is further anticipated that this will help refine the existing design approaches for flexible pipelines which may not be adequately addressed using existing industry design methods, as well as providing recommendations for the minimum length of 3D dynamic stability models required to be considered in order to accurately capture the longitudinal length scales of importance.

The EM method is a valuable tool for Civil Engineering for estimation of the real stress in the prestressing tendons, quality control during construction period, calculating the stress loss due to friction and relaxation, long-time monitoring of stress changes due to concrete creep, temperature changes, traffic load etc. Overview of EM technique with practical applications in the Civil Engineering is presented. The new generation of EM measuring devices is based on more than 15 years experience, including health monitoring systems for the nuclear power plant and a large span cable stayed and suspension bridges. Examples of laboratory and field tests are presented, including uncertainty of stress measurement, long-time stability, resolution and reliability.

Bend stiffeners are polymeric structures employed to ensure a smooth and safe transition in the upper connection of risers and umbilical cables, protecting them against accumulation of fatigue damage and excessive curvatures. Recent failures have stimulated a better understanding of the mechanical response in order to increase the reliability in design and analysis of bend stiffeners. This work presents a mathematical formulation that represents the system riser/bend stiffener considering geometric non linearity and polyurethane with viscoelastic behaviour, an inherent characteristic to polymers. The following assumptions are considered: cross-sections remain plane after deformation, large deflections are accepted but it is a small strain bending problem, the self-weight and external forces are disregarded and the material is assumed with linear viscoelastic behaviour. The curves that represent the viscoelastic response of the material have been raised by means of creep tests, whose specimens were cut from actual bend stiffeners. The time dependent data obtained in the experimental tests were well approximated by a third order Prony series which describes the creep function. The set of four first order non linear ordinary differential equations results from geometrical compatibility, equilibrium of forces and moments and linear viscoelastic constitutive relations. The numerical solution of the problem is obtained using a one-parameter shooting method. The results are then compared with the consolidated numerical solution for linear elastic material. It is concluded that the viscoelastic phenomena can lead to excessive curvatures on the upper terminations of risers and umbilical cables if the polymeric structure were designed considering elastic behaviour. The correct characterization of the viscoelastic properties of polyurethane used on bend stiffeners must be taken into account when accurate analysis is desired.
