Integrating deep learning methodologies is pivotal in shaping the continuous evolution of computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) systems. This review explores the integration of deep learning in CAD and CAE, particularly focusing on generative models for simulating 3D vehicle wheels. It highlights the challenges of traditional CAD/CAE, such as manual design and simulation limitations, and proposes deep learning, especially generative models, as a solution. The study aims to automate and enhance 3D vehicle wheel design, improve CAE simulations, predict mechanical characteristics, and optimize performance metrics. It employs deep learning architectures like variational autoencoders (VAEs), convolutional neural networks (CNNs), and generative adversarial networks (GANs) to learn from diverse 3D wheel designs and generate optimized solutions. The anticipated outcomes include more efficient design processes, improved simulation accuracy, and adaptable design solutions, facilitating the integration of deep learning models into existing CAD/CAE systems. This integration is expected to transform design and engineering practices by offering insights into the potential of these technologies.

Abstract:
Current parametric parts library cannot contribute to the reuse of finite element model. It is essential to remodel or exchange model for parts in CAE software. This paper presents a synchronous CAD/CAE modeling method, which can be employed in parts library based on Siemens NX software. Primary CAD and CAE information in part are merged into master model, which acts as cornerstone for solid model, FE model and simulation model. Thus, part models from parts library can be directly used into simulation analysis, and parametric amendment and change propagation is sustained. A software package developed for designers is helpful to search and achieve desired part from parts library. Three case studies are carried out to clarify synchronous CAD/CAE modeling process and change propagation procedure.

The automotive development process is advancing through the utilization of CAD/CAM/CAE. This advancement is being enhanced by proper utilization of CAD/CAM integration, Digital prototyping and Digital mock-up. Until recently, CAD has played the leading role for the digitalization of automotive development. However, recent trend shows that, the leading role is shifted from CAD to analysis simulation. Three-dimensional design, which utilizes digital mock-up, is becoming the main tool for product design. Here, the functional capability and predictive assessment by CAE is the core technology. In addition, this supporting role is helping to realize the concurrent engineering in production engineering field.

Abstract:
This article examines the growing usefulness of computer-aided engineering (CAE) programs for the design of electronics packaging. CAE combined with expert interpretation, can help manufacturers quickly satisfy demand for increasingly small yet reliable products. Currently, three classes of software specifically support electronics packaging design: integrated computer-aided design (CAD) CAE software, general-purpose CAE software, and specialty CAE software solutions. The integrated CAE software emphasizes automatic creation and updating of finite-element-analysis (FEA) models based on CAD geometry. The effectiveness of this associativity between CAD and FEA depends on the product behavior to be evaluated and the quality of implementation. CAE simulation can calculate the maximum acceptable loads on pins, as well as the vibration characteristics of components. Solids-based CAD helps detect interference problems across components, as in these exploded views of a disc drive and a headset. While several general-purpose CAE suppliers permit engineers to build customized environments for automating model creation, specialty suppliers such as Pacific Numerix deliver the specific automated capabilities and connector libraries.

Abstract:
Calcium-binding plays a decisive role in the folding and stabilization of many RTX proteins, especially for the RTX domain. Although many studies have been conducted to prove the contribution of Ca2+ ion toward the folding and stabilization of RTX proteins, its functional dynamics and conformational structural changes remain elusive. Here, molecular docking and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were performed to analyze the contribution of Ca2+ ion toward the folding and stabilization of the RTX lipase (AMS8 lipase) structure. AMS8 lipase contains six Ca2+ ions (Ca1–Ca6). Three Ca2+ ions (Ca3, Ca4, and Ca5) were bound to the RTX parallel β-roll motif repeat structure (RTX domain). The metal ion (Ca2+) docking analysis gives a high binding energy, especially for Ca4 and Ca5 which are tightly bound to the RTX domain. The function of each Ca2+ ion is further analyzed using the MD simulation. The removal of Ca3, Ca4, and Ca5 caused the AMS8 lipase structure to become unstable and unfolded. The results suggested that Ca3, Ca4, and Ca5 stabilized the RTX domain. In conclusion, Ca3, Ca4, and Ca5 play a crucial role in the folding and stabilization of the RTX domain, which sustain the integrity of the overall AMS8 lipase structure.

Searching and handling geometric data are basic requirements of any Computer Aided Engineering application (CAE). Spatial search and local search has greater importance in CAD and CAE applications for reducing the model preparation time. There are many efficient algorithms being made to search geometrical data. Current neighbour search strategy is limited and not efficient in different CAE platforms. R-tree is tree data structure used for spatial access methods. This paper presents a review of R-tree data structure with its implementation in one of the CAE tool for neighbour search and local search. It satisfies current neighbour search requirements in CAE tools. Results shows considerable amount of time saving compared to the conventional approach. This work concludes that R-tree implementation can be helpful in identifying neighbour part and reducing model preparation time in CAD and CAE tools.

Abstract:
Aim. In the paper the authors briefly describe a methodology they proposed to innovate engineering education at secondary vocational schools in the field of CAD/CAE systems, and subsequently in a more detail they analyse teachers´ experiences and opinions on the use of the proposed methodology, and to it designed teaching materials, in their teaching practice. Methods. The proposed innovative way of the CAD/CAE system teaching is based on inverting the ratio of the time allowance between teaching technical drawing, and teaching modelling and simulation from 2:1 to 1:2. The stated inverting enables on the one hand to reduce by half the number of teaching lessons allocated to creation of technical documentation, and on the other hand to double the number of teaching lessons devoted to modelling and simulations. Results. As a main output of the proposed innovative approach of the CAD/CAE system teaching two textbooks were created which can be used in teaching the subjects focused on technical drawing knowledge and skills acquisition at secondary vocational schools according to the newly proposed alternative way of teaching methodology of CAD/CAE systems. Conclusion. The created teaching materials supporting the teaching of CAD/CAE systems according to the proposed methodology undergone through an experimental implementation process at a selected sample of vocational schools in conditions of real pedagogical practice. Evaluation of the obtained experiences was done in a frame of a panel discussion.

Abstract:
Within the product development the need for generating design variants is given in many situations, for example to optimize an existing initial design with respect to new or modified requirements. For an efficient process it is essential that these variations can be done very easily within a small timeframe. In the virtual product development the physical characteristic of a component is determined by numerical simulation. Commercial software products exist for nearly each physical phenomenon. Often these methods are covered under CAE. A fundamental issue for building and analyzing variants easily and fast is a seamless interaction between the CAD and CAE software tools. This paper presents a powerful CAD/CAE sequence to the engineer’s community, where in contrast to other approaches results of the CAE analysis directly interact with CAD data. This strategy is supported by describing the product’s geometry by parameters. The CAD/CAE sequence is integrated in an optimization loop. The presented application example is an automotive part.

In this paper, some molding process parameters such as injection time, packing time, packing pressure and process temperature etc. were optimized by the Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) simulation (Moldex 3D) for injection molding of a plastic lens. Some experimental trials were carried out for verifying of the CAE simulation results with checking of the lens shrinkage and birefringence etc. as well. The results showed that, the recommended molding process parameters from CAE simulation and the actual experiments were almost the same, hence the CAE is a established tool based on the scientific approach to reduce experimental works, to identify critical parameters and to save substantial costs. Lately, a perfect plastic lens was gained by the Injection–Compression Molding process with the optimized process parameters by a CAE simulation.

This article focuses on the growing role of computer-aided engineering programs for the design of electronic packaging. While computer-aided engineering (CAD) clearly offers the potential to improve products and cut manufacturing costs and time, those who have adopted CAE are facing significant challenges in making it work. Historically, CAE has failed to deliver results fast enough to exert a major influence on design decisions. Instead, corporations have used finite-element results to validate previously determined designs. But because design changes later can cost more than correct up-front decisions, CAE simulation can offer cash benefits when it has a role in the initial stages of product design. Technical staff leaders must translate objectives into CAE work that is efficient and effective. The status of the measurements must always be available, in order to monitor progress.

Abstract:
Especially in the field of numerical simulations, such as flow and acoustic simulations, the interest in using virtual 3D models to optimize urban systems is increasing. The few instances in which simulations were already carried out in practice have been associated with an extremely high manual and therefore uneconomical effort for the processing of models. Using different ways of capturing models in Geographic Information System (GIS) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), increases the already very high complexity of the processing. To obtain virtual 3D models suitable for simulation, we developed a tool for automatic processing with the goal to establish ties between the world of GIS and CAE. In this paper we introduce a way to use Coons surfaces for the automatic processing of building models in LoD2, and investigate ways to simplify LoD3 models in order to reduce unnecessary information for a numerical simulation.

Abstract:
Due to the development and industrialization of science and technology, aluminum alloys have been developed in various fields. Recently, the government has been pursuing ways to decrease the weight and increase the recyclability of various components in order to conserve resources, energy, and the environmental. In keeping with this trend, cast iron products are being replaced by aluminum products in the foundry industry by using high-pressure die casting (HPDC). Casting layout design, relies on the experience and knowledge of mold designers in the casting industry, which proves insufficient to respond to the rapidly changing needs of the era and to increasing production costs. Designing and producing casting layouts using CAD/CAM/CAE technology has become a critical issue. Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) technology is rapidly increasing with the development of computer software and hardware. CAE technology not only predicts defects in mass production but also performs filling or solidification analysis during the mold design stage before production, enabling optimal mold design methods. New technologies that combine the emerging casting processes of filling and solidification analysis using computer simulation with existing technology and practical experience in the field are rapidly increasing in the foundry industry. Based on empirical knowledge, the layout and design of casting products has traditionally progressed through trial and error. The solutions achieved through scientific calculation and analysis using CAE technology can save a great deal of money and time in the building of die-casting molds and in their design and fabrication. In this study, numerical analysis of household appliances (cooking grills) quickly and accurately predicts problems arising from the filling and solidification of the melted metal in the casting process, thereby ensuring the quality of the final cast product. These results can be used to quickly establish a sound casting layout with reduced production costs.

Abstract:
Pipes are used as a means of fluid transportation from a reservoir to a destination. In a piping system, flow loss or head loss is always found, both head loss due to pipe size and head loss due to bends, one of which is the knee. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of knee diameter on flow headloss. The method used is simulation and monogram calculation. Based on the standard ASME B16.9 B16.28 used knees with a diameter of 1, 2, 4 and inch. The experimental results show the same behavior between the simulation and the monogram calculation. The larger the knee diameter, the smaller the head loss. Headloss simulation results for knee diameters 1,2,4 and 6 inches are 0,012 m, 0,0093 m, 0,00063 m and 0,00426 m, respectively. Meanwhile, the headloss calculated by the monogram is 0.006 m, 0.0024 m, 0.0007 m and 0.004 m, respectively. The smallest headloss occurred at 4 inches in diameter indicating that the knee with this diameter is the best knee among the other four knees

Abstract:
Within the lifecycle of the product, the reduced models are very important for the experimental validation of the prototype. The modelling, simulation and optimization stage precedes the prototype realization, being part of the computer aided design (CAD), computer aided engineering (CAE). The physical model is a physical layout or test setup that reproduces, on a small scale, the features of the original system, in our case the vehicle body layout. The paper presents an automobile reduced model, with the aim to study the aerodynamic theory. The paper presents the algorithms of conceptual design of the scale reduced model, namely: 3D modelling, small scale modelling technology and geometric shape optimization solutions using different CAD-CAE programs.
