Abstract:
Magnetic structure in a layered perovskite manganite, La2-2xSr1+2xMn2O7 (x = 0.307) has been investigated by neutron diffraction measurements. We found that the ground state (at 4 K) has a ferromagnetic structure with magnetic moment of Mn ions being aligned in a direction inclined by 10 degree from the c-axis. The magnetic structure changes to a canted antiferromagnetic one (CAFM-I) at about 20 K and then to another canted antiferromagnetic one (CAFM-II) at about 80 K. Here the magnetic moment lies in the ab-plane in CAFM-II but not in CAFM-I. The magnetic structure then changes to an antiferromagnetic one with magnetic moment lies in the ab-plane at about 90 K, and then to a paramagnetic one at about 100 K.

Abstract:
The aim of the thesis is to present a synthetized and organically structured image of Soviet Lithuanian culinary, which separately exists in contemporary historiography, Soviet archival documents and publications and in the memory of witnesses of that time. The paper analyzes the origins of Soviet culinary policy and shows how theoretical attitudes to nutrition were implemented in practice; it also discusses eating culture of the “Soviet man” by showing what and how was cooked and eaten at the canteens, restaurants, cafes and at home (for everyday and for special occasions); it also reveals the differences and tensions between “public” and “private” culinary.

Robinson, Alex. "Linking child care to infant attachment : what lies in-between?" Thesis, Open University, 2000. http://oro.open.ac.uk/54411/.

Full text
Abstract:
Objectives: To investigate the relationship between maternal separation anxiety, hours in non-maternal child care and security of motherinfant attachment in early infancy. Design: Prospective. Methods: The participants for this study were 67 mothers and their infants enrolled in a large scale prospective study. The first 100 women were sent a letter outlining the current study and requested to 'opt in'. Those mothers who agreed to participate completed the Maternal Separation Anxiety Scale (MSAS) when the infant was ten and seventeen months. The mother-infant attachment relationship was assessed according to the standardised Strange Situation Procedure when the infant was aged seventeen months (+/- two weeks). All other data were collected in the main study. Results: Maternal Separation Anxiety was not predictive (alone or in combination with other variables) of attachment status. Significant differences in levels of separation anxiety were found between mothers who were and mothers who were not employed outside the home. Separation anxiety was also related to a number of variables, including the age of the infant when the mother planned to use non-maternal child care, the total hours of non-maternal child care, infant temperament and maternal sensitivity. Conclusions: The non-significant results in the main analysis mean that no firm conclusions regarding a relationship between levels of maternal separation anxiety, hours in non-maternal child care and security of mother-infant attachment in infancy can be drawn. Future research (with a larger and more diverse sample) should continue to explore the concept of maternal separation anxiety in relation to a number of other variables, including maternal role preference and quality of child care, as it may hold important implications for social policy and preventative clinical work.

Abstract:
The rise of Major League Soccer in the United States has taken place during an influential spread of social media. This paper conducts an empirical analysis of the effects of several variables on the Facebook "likes" of individual Major League Soccer Facebook homepages. Variables from previous sport demand studies are re-analyzed and applied in this study to determine similarities and differences to Facebook "likes". Results from the analysis indicate social media is affected differently than attendance rates. Facebook "likes" are most affected by population size, unemployment and Hispanic composition as well as player salary rather than wins or attendance.

AHLÉN, JOHANNA, and FANNY BENGTSSON. "From likes to commitment : a case study of micro companies’ social media usage." Thesis, Högskolan i Borås, Institutionen Textilhögskolan, 2013. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:hb:diva-17439.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose with the thesis is to identify, analyze and present the problems micro companies in the Swedish fashion and sport industry are facing when using social media as a communication tool in their marketing activities. Also relevant digital communication channels have been investigated and presented. Two case studies have been made with two Swedish micro companies in order to fulfill our purpose and answer our two research questions. The result from the interviews showed that micro companies, overall in the industry, could benefit from using social media as a communication channel, but they struggle to know how they should use it. We answer our research question through creating and presenting our own constructed model that companies should use in their business for planning their social media strategy and overcome the found problems. The thesis is a qualitative research with an abducted approach. We did an active research with a case study on the two companies Kask of Sweden and Gococo. Through deep interviews, we got much information about how they work today and what problems they face when using social media. We have worked with four themes during the entire process; present, relationship, problems and future, to facilitate for the reader and for us. The study has high reability for the investigated companies, and we also argue that it could be of interest for other fashion and sport micro companies at the Swedish market. An theoretical framework was conducted through researching the specific area and finding relevant theory and published material concerning marketing and communicaton, as well as digital marketing theory and publications about social media. The chosen material is presented in the theory chapter where an own constructed model is presented as a guideline for the reader. It will help the reader to find the theories and their elations to each other. We believe it to be a good way of ease the understanding and the relevance of the chosen theories. The research shows that micro companies in the Swedish fashion sport industry faces different problems using social media as a communication platform for their company. Thus micro companies often have a very limited amount of resources and neither have the money, the knowledge or the time to manage a large marketing and communication social media can be beneficial if used properly. Though it comes with a few struggles. The main problems concerned around knowing who their real customer is, how to handle the relationship and create stronger connections with customers, difficulties in knowing which channels to use and how to handle them properly. They also found problems in knowing what how to communicate the right image and get the desired result of the published materials. Lastly the companies sometimes lacked a clear strategy in managing their social media platforms and raised questions about the language use, time consumption and who should run the activates. With our ”Four step-from likes to commitment” model we want to put attention to the most relevant steps a company needs to be aware of before starting and during working with social media, as well as be a strategy to handle and overcome the problems the previously struggled with.

Rost, Lucia, Amber Parkes, and Andrea Azevedo. Measuring and Understanding Unpaid Care and Domestic Work: Household Care Survey Toolkit. Oxfam, October 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.21201/2020.6775.

Full text
Abstract:
This toolkit provides guidance on using Oxfam’s Household Care Survey (HCS) methodology, which was developed by Oxfam as part of the WE-Care initiative to transform the provision of unpaid care and domestic work (UCDW). UCDW underpins all our lives yet is overwhelmingly provided by women and girls. Recognising UCDW is essential for any initiative that aims to understand and address gender inequality. The HCS is a quantitative survey tool that generates context-specific evidence on how women, men and children spend their time, how care is provided, by whom, and the main factors that affect people’s responsibilities for UCDW, such as access to care services, infrastructure and social norms. The HCS can be used to generate a baseline, or to measure the impact of a specific policy or programme. The methodology can be integrated into different projects with different objectives and adjusted for use in various contexts. The HCS toolkit is designed to be used by development practitioners, policy makers, employers, academics and researchers. Part A provides guidance for planning, collecting, analysing and using HCS data. Part B provides guidance for understanding, adjusting and using the HCS questions. Both sections should be read before undertaking the survey.

Abstract:
Across the globe, unpaid care and domestic work (UCDW) sustains communities and economies, provides essential care for children, sick and elderly people and those living with disabilities, and keeps households clean and families fed. Without unpaid care, the global economy as we know it would grind to a halt. Yet this work falls disproportionately on women and girls, limiting their opportunities to participate in decent paid employment, education, leisure and political life. Heavy and unequal UCDW traps women and girls in cycles of poverty and stops them from being part of solutions. To help address this, Oxfam, together with a number of partners, has been working in over 25 countries to deliver the Women’s Economic Empowerment and Care (WE-Care) programme since 2013. WE-Care aims to reignite progress on gender equality by addressing heavy and unequal UCDW. By recognizing, reducing and redistributing UCDW, WE-Care is promoting a just and inclusive society where women and girls have more choice at every stage of their lives, more opportunities to take part in economic, social and political activities, and where carers’ voices are heard in decision making about policies and budgets at all levels. This overview document aims to highlight the approaches taken and lessons learned on unpaid care that Oxfam has implemented in collaboration with partners in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
