Abstract:
Magnetic structure in a layered perovskite manganite, La2-2xSr1+2xMn2O7 (x = 0.307) has been investigated by neutron diffraction measurements. We found that the ground state (at 4 K) has a ferromagnetic structure with magnetic moment of Mn ions being aligned in a direction inclined by 10 degree from the c-axis. The magnetic structure changes to a canted antiferromagnetic one (CAFM-I) at about 20 K and then to another canted antiferromagnetic one (CAFM-II) at about 80 K. Here the magnetic moment lies in the ab-plane in CAFM-II but not in CAFM-I. The magnetic structure then changes to an antiferromagnetic one with magnetic moment lies in the ab-plane at about 90 K, and then to a paramagnetic one at about 100 K.

Abstract:
The aim of the thesis is to present a synthetized and organically structured image of Soviet Lithuanian culinary, which separately exists in contemporary historiography, Soviet archival documents and publications and in the memory of witnesses of that time. The paper analyzes the origins of Soviet culinary policy and shows how theoretical attitudes to nutrition were implemented in practice; it also discusses eating culture of the “Soviet man” by showing what and how was cooked and eaten at the canteens, restaurants, cafes and at home (for everyday and for special occasions); it also reveals the differences and tensions between “public” and “private” culinary.

Abstract:
The effect of the refining slag composition on the total oxygen content and inclusions in steel was investigated in 100 t UHP Electric Furnace – LF – Billet CC process. The test steel was 77B hard wire steel and Si-Mn alloy was used as the deoxidizer. Three types slag were used in the industrial tests, which including CaO-CaF2, CaO-CaF2 adding CaC and CaO-Al2O3 refining slag. The results shown that the lowest total oxygen contents of rolled bar can be gained using the CaO-CaF2 refining slag adding CaC, which is 0.0036%, while the total oxygen contents of rolled bar using CaO-Al2O3 refining slag is higher a little than the heats using CaO-CaF2 refining slag. The CaO-SiO2 and CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 compound inclusions with the size of about 5 μm are the main inclusions in the heats refining by the CaO-CaF2 refining slag in the rolled bar, but the pure, indeformable Al2O3 inclusion can also be found with the size of about 10 μm. The CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 and Al2O3-SiO2-MnO compound inclusions are the main inclusions in the heats refining by the CaO-CaF2-CaC refining slag, but most of the inclusion shape is irregular with bigger size of about 10 μm. Similar with the heat using CaO-CaF2 refining slag, the pure Al2O3 inclusion with edge angle can be found in the rolled bar. The inclusions in the rolled bar treated by CaO-Al2O3 refining slag are CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 compound inclusions, most of which are nearly globular shape with the relative small size of about 5 μm. All of the inclusions in rolled bar lie on the low melting zone in the CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 ternary phase diagram in the heats using CaO-Al2O3 refining slag. The similar condition appeared on the most of the inclusions in the heats using CaO-CaF2 and CaO-CaF2 refining slag adding CaC, while part of which are lied on the high melting zone. Therefore, considering of the plastic deformation ability, the CaO-Al2O3 refining slag is the best slag for the melting process of hard wire steel.

Liu, Jian. "Metamorphoses of Puccini’s “La bohème” in Jonathan Larson’s musical “Rent”." Aspects of Historical Musicology 21, no. 21 (March 10, 2020): 83–97. http://dx.doi.org/10.34064/khnum2-21.05.

Full text
Abstract:
Theoretical background. Depending on the choice of the original source underlying the work, all Broadway musicals can be divided into three main types – with the original libretto and plot (“Next to normal” by T. Kitt), based on (or even on the material) of the same name cartoons (E. John’s “The Lion King”, D. Stewart’s and G. Ballard’s “Ghost”) and operas (E. John’s “Aida” after G. Verdi’s opera of the same name, J. Larson’s “Rent” written after “La bohème” by G. Puccini). In the latter group there is a contrasting branching, which can be observed even on the example of the two named musicals. If E. John seeks to preserve the historical correspondence to the epoch depicted in the opera, as well as to embody the conditionally Egyptian oriental color with the help of exotic orchestration, then J. Larson makes a radical modernization of the plot. His radicalism lies not so much in the time distance over which he “transposes” events, as in the “reduction” to naturalistic brutality and nudity of forbidden, but very “painful” in the 90s of the twentieth century topics – drugs, AIDS, same-sex relationships. In comparison with the problems of the musical, G. Puccini’s opera is perceived as a romanticized fairy tale. The social acuity of the musical is closer to the verismo aesthetics than the opera by G. Puccini, and encourages a more thorough analysis of its relationship with the opera prototype. The objective of the article is to reveal the specifics of the metamorphosis of the plot and musical drama of Puccini’s “La bohème” in the musical “Rent” by J. Larson. In accordance with the goal, research methods such as structural and functional are used to identify the components of the composer’s text and their role in the drama of the whole, comparative method to consider selected works in terms of plot interpretation, libretto features, general developing of the drama and musical text. Results of the study. J. Larson’s musical “Rent” demonstrate a free interpretation of G. Puccini’s opera original, with which a number of metamorphoses take place. The first is related to the modernization of the plot, which is transposed from Paris in the mid-nineteenth century to the 90s of the twentieth century and the “lower classes” of New York. The plot is reduced due to the saturation of its topical issues, which reflected the American spirit of the 90’s – AIDS, drug addiction, same-sex relationships. At the same time, the lyricization of drama is carried out, because in the musical J. Larson shows the development of the love affair of three couples. Almost all of them end tragically: Angel dies, Mimi is also on the verge of death. In turn, Joan and Maureen constantly quarrel and reconcile only at the end of the musical. At the same time, the plot outline of the development of Roger and Mimi’s relationship duplicates a similar line of the opera, starting from the scene of their acquaintance and ending with a duet in the finale, where the characters once again confess their love for each other. The key scene is the manifesto of bohemian life, as in the opera, is the scene in a cafe (“La Vie Boheme”, № 23). Musical dramaturgy of “Rent”, in contrast to the plot, is far removed from the operatic original, due to the genre tradition of the musical, which is reflected in the two-act structure, the principle of dramatic “relaxation” in the second act, where the denouement of all plot lines comes, number structure, where musical numbers alternate with conversational dialogues. At the same time, J. Larson strives for the integrity of the musical’s dramaturgy, which is reflected in the “musicalization” of dialogues, which mostly sound with musical accompaniment and flexibly flow into duet-ensemble scenes. The solo numbers, which brings a stop to the action, is mostly replaced by duets that “promote” the action and reveal the development of the characters’ relationships (the key pair has four such duets). Conclusions. All mentioned qualities of the musical “Rent” significantly distinguish the composition of J. Larson from another example of the musical based after the opera – “Aida” by E. John, which allows us to talk about the presence of individual compositional and dramatic solutions, even when working with a similar source. This shows the significant potential of the Broadway musical as a musical-theatrical genre, as opposed to its accusations of commercialism and the assertion of the priority of entertainment, which makes it an interesting and perspective material for research.

Critically ill patients are transported within and between hospitals on a regular basis; thus, transport of the critically ill is a component of most intensivists-practice. The motivation for these transports lies in obtaining diagnostic or therapeutic services not available at the bedside (intrahospital transport) or not available in the sending institution (interhospital transport). Deterioration in respiratory, cardiovascular, and other physiological systems is a potential complication of any patient transport. Using appropriate equipment and personnel and planning for each transport can minimize these complications and ensure optimal benefit to the patient.

Abstract:
Subcutaneous low molecular weight heparins are widely used in hospitalised patients for the treatment of DVT, pulmonary embolism and acute coronary syndromes, as well as for thromboprophylaxis. Rectus sheath hematoma is a recognised, but sometimes misdiagnosed, complication of treatment with anticoagulant therapy,1 including full and prophylactic doses of low molecular weight heparin.2 Studies have shown that the most frequent location of a haematoma is in the lower part of the abdomen. The explanation for this lies in the anatomy of the abdominal wall.3 The rectus abdominis muscle lies between the aponeuroses of the transverse and oblique muscles, which form the so-called rectus sheath. In this lower aspect of the muscle the perforating branches of the inferior epigastric artery running in the preperitoneal fat may rupture causing a large haematoma widely spreading in this loose space. Care should be taken to avoid this area for injection of heparin, particularly in thin patients where inadvertent intramuscular.

Abstract:
Leishmania, an intracellular protozoan parasite, is endemic, widespread and represents a public health problem in most countries of the Mediterranean basin as it is implicated in a wide spectrum of diseases both in humans and animals. Vaccination of canines remains the best control strategy to counteract the progression of active infection for canine disease in areas of the world where transmission to humans is primarily zoonotic. This case report describes the history of a four-year-old dog vaccinated against canine leishmaniosis that was presented to a private clinic for the onset of a nodular skin lesion. Besides normal haematological and biochemical analyses, the histopathological examination of the removed skin lesion revealed the presence of Leishmania amastigotes. The presence of the protozoa in the skin lesion of a vaccinated dog is discussed.

Abstract:
The diagnosis of death using neurological criteria is an important legal method of establishing death in the UK. The safety of the diagnosis lies in the exclusion of conditions which may mask the diagnosis and the testing of the fundamental reflexes of the brainstem including the apnoea reflex. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for cardiac or respiratory support can impact upon these tests, both through drug sequestration in the circuit and also through the ability to undertake the apnoea test. Until recently, there has been no nationally accepted guidance regarding the conduct of the tests to undertake the diagnosis of death using neurological criteria for a patient on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. This article considers both the background to and the process of guideline development.

Abstract:
A new approach to the lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh is described. It depends on locating the depth of the canal through which the nerve passes immediately medial to the anterior superior iliac spine. Anatomical dissections show that it lies deep to the attachments of external oblique aponeurosis, the internal oblique muscle, and a deep fascial layer. Two district ‘pops’ or loss of resistance can be identified during insertion of a short-bevelled needle. Location of the canal by the technique described has been confirmed radiographically.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Oak decline has been observed periodically in the different parts of the world. We conducted this study to evaluate the project control in this phenomenon. In this paper, the project control methods have proposed to be useful tools to deal with oak decline. The aim of the study is twofold: (i) define and schedule a set of activities and determine times for those activities in the Control of Forest Decline Project (CFDP) using the Project Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) method; (ii) apply the Critical Path Method (CPM) within the context on how to reduce the project time by increasing operating costs and crashing the activities. In crisis management, “golden time” is defined for doing activities and controlling the crisis, which has a greater role than other times. The analysis confirmed that the problem of forest decline is an ecological problem and its root lies in participatory management with the local community. We also found that the time crashing is not economically efficient to the CFDP except for two activities: public information and stakeholder analysis.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This study explores the views of intensive care medicine consultants and trainees concerning sources of occupational pressure, the perceived utility and practicability of organisational changes designed to reduce these, and the relevance of these findings for attempts to promote recruitment into and reduce attrition from the specialty. An anonymised postal self-report questionnaire was used to obtain the views of consultants and trainees, using a combination of specifically designed questions and an existing psychological measure. A wide range of sources of occupational pressure was identified, some generic and some more specific to occupational roles and location. Ratings of potential remedial occupational changes revealed that not all those considered to be most useful were considered to be practicable. Self-report data indicated some differences between consultants and trainees. The complex mixture of occupational pressures warns against simplistic introduction of potential interventions and confirms the need to consider different pressures at different career stages. Responsibility for identifying, implementing and evaluating such remedial occupational changes lies at individual, local, professional and managerial levels. It is suggested that the current methodology could be developed to explore similar questions among other medical specialties or healthcare professions.

Abstract:
At the 2018 San Sebastian Festival the winning film was Entre dos aguas (Isaki Lacuesta, 2018). The Catalan filmmaker constructs a fiction film that, however, is also very much self-referential and biographical and therefore journalistic (all the actors are amateurs who play themselves in the film), and uses a good part of a certain journalistic documentary visual aesthetic. These actors, in turn, had already been protagonists for 12 years before another film by the filmmaker, La leyenda del tiempo (2006). However, the value of Lacuesta’s contribution lies in the fact that these characters play a life they did not live, but could easily have. In his proposal, reality is mixed with fiction in a film where both are equally plausible. The analysis of this footnote will also allow us to identify many of the characteristics of the new contemporary hybrid cinema, such as the cohabitation with objectivity, the deontology of the creator, the breaking of the frontiers between fiction and non-fiction, or the use of a certain ucrony within the script that inserts his characters (with varying degrees of luck) into their natural environment. We intend to analyze how this new hybrid film language allows a different knowledge of the environment, with all the implications that this implies.

Abstract:
This paper contributes to the understanding of how the environment, ethics, values, and historical contingencies shape public policy. It explains the accomplishment of petroleum resource management in the small open economy of Norway. The study is conducted by mapping policy decisions and the arguments behind them regarding environmental and ethical issues. This is done by studying available governmental and parliamentary papers along with statements from politicians and central governmental officials. The paper also seeks to illuminate some of the decisions by quantitative measures. The paper firstly describes a model of Ricardian resource rent. Secondly, it investigates the set of values that were in place before the petroleum production started in the 1970s, as described in public documents. An important argument was to build a “qualitatively better society” for the benefit of the people. Thirdly, it traces the historical roots of these values by examining historical sources. The main findings are that success lies in understanding the ethics behind the environmental resource rent harvesting of this non-renewable natural resource. The paper concludes that the focus on the natural environment and resource rent management can be attributed to popular values built on historical traditions. According to them, the state and the trust between the state and its citizens played key roles in shaping the policy. The careful policy can be illustrated by the fact that Norway has managed to build one of the largest sovereign funds in the world worth USD 1,200 billion for use by future generations. Only 3% of its value, significantly less than its historical net profit, should be used annually.
