Full textUsing the sequential model from strategic process, designed by D'Alessio (2015), the present strategic planning for the province of Cutervo 2017-2027 has been developed. It begins by presenting the general situation of this province, which is located in the Cajamarca region and has 140,633 inhabitants (Inga & Cosavalente, 2016). The external or environmental analysis revealed that there is a legal framework in Peru that promotes decentralization, although this process has not been completed due to problems in the transfer of competences. In addition, the country has established trade agreements, presents economic growth and has seen poverty reduction. Among the threats is the deceleration of domestic demand and private consumption, combined with lack of competitiveness and investment in technology and scientific development. Following the methodology was also an internal analysis, which showed as main strength the existence of the National Park Cutervo and other natural resources to attract tourism, which can be used to generate income, but in a sustainable way. Another strength is the existence of a dairy processing plant, which is combined with large tracts of land for agricultural activities and a portfolio of mining concessions. The following strategies will be implemented: (a) to develop the production of pasteurized milk for direct marketing to wholesalers or retailers; (b) developing the production of value-added dairy products, such as cheeses; (c) develop tourist routes that complement the visit to the PNC with other natural attractions; (d) penetrate the national tourism market, focused on the ecological or natural tourism segment; and (e) develop tourist infrastructure such as lodging and restaurants

Full textThe province of Celendín is in the department of Cajamarca to the north of the Peruvian territory. Founded on December 19, 1802, it has as its habitants people who came from Spain and Portugal, to become land and to dedicate to livestock, who along with the native Peruvians of the area were the architects of his beautiful provincial capital city and the different fields of cultivation in the area. The main development of the province of Celendín comes from the side of livestock and agriculture, which although not technified and well advised by professionals, are the fields that give sustenance to the inhabitants, who gradually move away from The fields to go to the city of Cajamarca, Trujillo and Lima, in search of a better future for themselves and their families. According to what will be developed in this Strategic Plan will be able to see the shortcomings of the province as they are the Health sector, also the lack of water and electricity for some parts of the province, the high degree of illiteracy, the little infrastructure for Tourism development, lack of investment in mining exploration and as a main point the poor road infrastructure to be able to connect the whole province with the country, that without this there is no way for the farmer to take product, and the tourist arrives at his locality. The creation of a strong link between civil society and the state, in order to commit itself to investing in the different nerve points to carry out the province of Celendín, will be the key to success

Master's thesis, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2017. http://tesis.pucp.edu.pe/repositorio/handle/123456789/9655.
Full textThe Province of Contumazá is one of the thirteen provinces that make up the Region of Cajamarca. It’s located in the North of the Country and it’s divided in eight districts. It has little educational development, and the poor road infrastructure does not favor the internal and external communications. This, and a poor wealth distribution have prevented the province from developing properly. To address the current situation, this Strategic Plan has been developed focusing on the existence of great potential in the region, and particularly in the province of Contumazá. With the aid of the Sequential Model designed by Dr. Fernando D’Alessio Ipinza, this strategic plan commences with an analysis of the current situation, and formulates a vision for the Province: “To be one of the three most competitive provinces of Cajamarca by 2027”. This vision allows to define a mission, values, long-term objectives, short-term objectives and strategies considering the environmental opportunities and threats, as well as the province’s inner strengths and weaknesses. The execution of the proposed strategies will achieve the Strategic Plan’s objectives within the stipulated timeframe of ten years. These strategies are viable and should have the acceptance of all stakeholders, so that they take ownership of the commitments and goals proposed for the achievement of the strategic objectives for the development of the Province of Contumazá

Master's thesis, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2017. http://tesis.pucp.edu.pe/repositorio/handle/123456789/9532.
Full textThe objective of this study is to elaborate a strategic plan that will guide the path to be followed by the Province of San Ignacio, in the Cajamarca region, to achieve internal improvement. In this way, the province can generate new economic activities and develop existing ones. In order to do so, the economic and social factors of the region have been considered with the purpose of having appropriate information that allows taking advantage of existing resources: human, natural and material. Exogenous factors have been analyzed and a comparison has been made between San Ignacio and the other provinces that could become its direct competitors. The purpose of this study is to determine the path to be followed and to establish the challenges that San Ignacio must face in order to achieve the objectives outlined here. For the formulation of the present study, the strategic planning model, developed by D'Alessio (2015), has been used. The results show that although San Ignacio presents adverse situations that have prevented it from being a prevailing province for many years, this province could be one of the most competitive in Peru if the available resources are efficiently used and its population is appropriately trained. To do this, it must develop a strategic process that gives greater added value to its strengths and opportunities. In conclusion, it’s necessary to emphasize that the constant generation of renewed policies in the different regions of the country promotes their competitiveness. In this way, new sources of work will be developed, as well as a better living condition for the population, especially for the one that is most vulnerable: the rural. Likewise, the economic development of all regions must be based on a challenging vision and mission, always seeking the need to improve or even in some aspects make a shocking change. This impact should be identified by population, who will be the main stakeholders for all of this. It’s important to clarify that population’s position will affect the execution of planned projects

Master's thesis, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2017. http://tesis.pucp.edu.pe/repositorio/handle/123456789/9664.
Full textThe Strategic Plan for the province of San Miguel has been made based on the Sequential Model of the Strategic Process developed by D'Alessio (2015). It began by the analysis of the current situation of the province to visualize the desired future situation, which led to establishing vision, mission, values and code of ethics, which acted as a strategic compass to define the long-term and short-term objectives. While, as a result of the external and internal evaluation, the strategies that could be implemented to reach the vision were defined. The province of San Miguel is primarily rural, with a high degree of poverty and extreme poverty. It is located between the last places of competitiveness of the country, despite being a province with abundant natural and archaeological resources that could allow it to improve its position. This is not achieved because there are conflicts between the components and economic pillars of the province and can’t be harmonized to develop different industries. The proposed Strategic Plan aims to: (a) raise the level of production and sales of cheeses and other dairy products; (b) increase revenues from the marketing of textile handicrafts, both in the local market and through exports; (c) establishing a tourism industry that is sustainable and generates resources for the inhabitants; and (d) all of the above will lead to improve the family income. Once the long-term objectives are known, strategies must be implemented to achieve these objectives, which are mostly intensive or horizontally integrated. The effort of the Municipality, already known the PEI, is to invest its resources to materialize the objectives in the short term, which will lead to the fulfillment of the long term objectives, changing the current situation of the province and achieving substantial changes in its economy, with the satisfaction of its population

Full textDrive the development of a province or region in Peru must be the ideal of any authority that comes to the power in the country. In order to achieve this objective, the authority needs to develop a strategic plan. With the plan, the authority can move from a current situation to a desired situation following initiatives or drives that help him to solve many problems. For this reasons, the existence of strategic plan is very important for the authority. The bibliography about this subject is available on the network and the only thing that would be missing to carry it out is the experience and the desire to want to do it well. The present study aims to develop a strategic plan for the province of San Marcos in Cajamarca, Peru. The study consider its current situation and the situation where it intend to arrive. This future situation includes the welfare of the population improving their quality of life, the sense of security, respect for their customs and the improvement of the economic situation of the province. This will be due to the strategies chosen and after an arduous selection process that includes sustainability and, where is possible, to seek independence regarding the price variation of metals extracted by the miners operating in the region, considering that this activity is the which attracts more investment and is therefore a potential source of income for Cajamarca. In the development of the strategic plan, the strategic planning model developed by Professor D'Alessio was used. After the process of strategies selection it´s concluded that the province of San Marcos has the potential to be one of the highest growth province in the period from 2017 to 2027. Likewise, the agricultural industry, led by the export of Taya and Trout, formal mining, including products and services related to this activity, are the main drivers for the progress of the province, improving the economic and social condition of its population

Full textFollowing the strategic process proposed by D'Alessio (2015), this strategic planning has been developed for the province of San Pablo, located in the region of Cajamarca, in the north of Peru. At present, this province has land suitable for cultivation and resources that could be exploited touristy, but faces weaknesses such as poor infrastructure and very low educational level among its population. That is why at present it has not achieved mass production of crops, which are made for subsistence purposes, nor has the tourism activity been developed, in a constant and sustainable manner. In order for the province of San Pablo to increase its agricultural production and receive more visitors, raising the quality of life of its inhabitants, it requires implementing the following strategies: (a) Develop adventure tourism routes; (b) penetrate the domestic market of dry grains; (c) penetrate the national market for tubers; (d) developing processed products from tubers; (e) develop a full school feeding service for children and young people remaining in the formal education system; (f) create a provincial school transportation system to stimulate the permanence in the study centers; and (g) develop telecommunication services accessible to all residents, integrated with training and content

Full textThe purpose of this study is to elaborate a strategic plan that will serve as an alternative for the Province of Santa Cruz, Cajamarca, in order to achieve long - term objectives, with a development horizon for the year 2027. This involves substantial improvement of economic activities using tools such as: territorial planning and main sources prospecting of local and regional development. To develop this study, the Strategic Planning sequential model of Professor D’Alessio was used. The province of Santa Cruz is part of the Cajamarca Region where there is a need for development and implementation of projects. Despite the creation of state policies aimed to promote their implementation, it is not possible to locate this province in the expectant place where it deserves to have the opportunity to contribute to the sustainable development of the region. Facing this situation, it is necessary to strengthen the capacities of the Provincial governments, in order to provide them with greater and better management tools that allow them to project the progress of the Province in a framework of modernity and sustainability. The results indicate that, the Province of Santa Cruz, Cajamarca has the potential to be a very competitive province and able to provide well-being to its inhabitants

Full textThe Strategic Plan of the Province of Chota has as its main objective to establish strategies that allow Chota to position itself as a competitive province, based on the development of an export agroindustry, the development of rural tourism and focusing on improving the quality of life of its population. This Plan was based on the Sequential Model of the Strategic Process developed by Dr. Fernando D’Alessio Ipinza, based on an analysis of the current circumstances, to reach a desired future situation, through the establishment of vision, mission, values, short and long-term objectives, and strategies associated with the environment and its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The province of Chota comprises 19 districts, is predominantly rural and has a high level of poverty. According to the latest national census carried out in 2007, the population in the province of Chota amounts to 160,447 people, being the third most populated province in the department of Cajamarca. There is the same proportion of men and women, 49% and 51% respectively, who live mainly in rural areas; the province is located among the last places of competitiveness in the country, despite being a province with abundant resources that could allow it to improve its position. The province of Chota has developed some economic activities, most of which of subsistence; the lack of education is a critical element, which should be taken as a priority as well as the development of infrastructure for the correct provision of basic services to the community. In view of this, the proposal of the plan considers that the province of Chota will obtain a growing and sustainable economic development once it achieves the personal, economic and social well-being of the residents

However, it´s one of the least populated in the province. Most of people are rural and use traditional medicine to cure their ills, so the consumption of medicinal plants is broad and varied to different diseases. The person who has the traditional knowledge in this place “healer”, is responsible for diagnosing, preparing and give the medicinal plants using traditional local knowledge acquired through their experience. There is no scientific research to save this valuable information and revalue its use, so it is concerning to loose this information over the years because the transmission of knowledge is just oral. This could be harmful because traditional medicine has many species that could be very useful for the search of new therapies and drugs. The main goal of work was collecting and studying the medicinal plants used in the district of Llacanora, as well as selecting the most used. It was done pharmacognostic studies and histological cuts of the drug which helped to determine the chemical constituents. It was possible to put in words a big part of the traditional knowledge and environmental vision of its inhabitants. Also, the data collected from the field and laboratory for later scientific studies can validate the use of traditional medicine in Llacanora. Part of this study was made in base of 58 semi-structured interviews to the healer recognition of the community, as well as the participation in the treatment of patients, and family and community activities. Around 53 plants were collected, herborized and classified using taxonomy methods during some trips to the town, guided by knowledgeable person and members of his family. In the same way, some native species from remote and inaccessible places were supplied by local people. The most quoted botanical families were Asteraceae, Fabaceae, Lamiaceae and Solanaceae. The most representative secondary metabolites were the phenolic compounds, triterpenoids, steroids and alkaloids

Full textThis research was based on the Social Progress Index [IPS] which is an international measure published since 2013, as a supplement to economic and development indicators, which aims to measure the level of social progress of a given locality including social and environmental indicators relevant to the context. The IPS was published by Social Progress Imperative with a focus on non-economic dimensions, based on non-investment management indicators, within a holistic framework. The objective is to calculate the IPS for the district of Hualgayoc, province of Hualgayoc, in the Cajamarca region, for the year 2018, adapting the model proposed by CENTRUM Católica for the Peruvian context. To do so, the district has been grouped into four areas as per its geographical delimitation. The research is descriptive in scope, not experimental, with a quantitative approach and cross-sectional analysis. The data collection was carried out through primary and secondary sources; the surveys were conducted in January 2018 to 384 heads of household, and the secondary source used information from accredited public institutions, which allowed the development of indicators, that together aims at describing three major dimensions: (a) Basic Human Needs, (b) Fundamentals of well-being and (c) Opportunities. Following the reference model, the database is compiled with the selected information with their respective utopias and dystopias, internal consistency and statistical analysis is performed to analyze the weighing and validity of the indicators, which are averaged for the calculation of IPS and its breakdown into dimensions and components. The results found indicate that the district of Hualgayoc is at the Very Low level with 41.17 points, according to the IPS level scale. Broken down by dimensions, Basic Human Needs recorded 42.20 points, Fundamentals of Wellbeing 41.08 points and Opportunities 40.23 points, all located at the Very Low level. At the zone level, the zone with the highest level is zone I with 57.69 in the Lower Middle level, followed by zones IV, III and II with 46.33, 37.83 and 36.73, respectively; which shows significant difference in the social progress level in each zone. This is an important measurement since it provides results at the zone level and allows for a tool that highlights the needs and priorities of the district of Hualgayoc so that these can be addressed and included in the public agenda.

Full textThe main objective of this thesis is to develop the Social Progress Index of Cutervo district in Cajamarca city, which is based in three dimensions: (a) Basic Needs, (b) Foundations of Wellbeing, and (c) Opportunities. This investigation looks for to measure the district’s social and environmental performance, and with this identifying the main action areas in which public and private sectors’ entities will be able to focus for its development looking to improve population’s quality of life. This is a quantitive-approach-type investigation that looks for the SPI results. This investigation was based on data collection through a questionary provided by Social Progress Imperative and CENTRUM Catholica, which was applied to the household heads of the district, which was divided in five areas. Collected information was processed and analysed using statistics programas such as SPSS Statistics 24.0 and StataMP-14, finding Crobanch’s Alpha, and KMO to ensure intern consistency and indicators adjustment to SPI tools’ components. The measurement performed at Cutervo district resulted in a SPI of 38,09 which located it in a “Very low” level, with dimensions carachterized for being clasified as Low and Extreme Low; additionally it was demonstrated that only two components: Water and basic sanitation, and Tolerance and Inclusion show encouraging indicators such as “Upper Middle” and “High” respectively, generating an improvement necessity in every other analysed components. The weaknesses found in Cutervo district by the Social Progress Index must be known and managed by public and private agents in order to act with policies and programs more focused on improving populations’ quality of life.

Full textCajabamba is considered one of the main provinces with the highest trade flow in the Cajamarca Region. This is mainly influenced by the road network of penetration into the Libertad region and its economic diversification. Cajabamba's economy is based on agricultural production, forestry, and tourism services and is strongly influenced by mining activity. In the same way, Cajabamba plays an active role in the development of the Cajamarca region by providing the resources mentioned above. The main objective of this research was to measure the Social Progress Index (SPI) of the district of Cajabamba and obtain relevant information to help improve the living conditions of the inhabitants, which being converted into a Social Progress index, will give us the possibility of measuring how capable a society is of satisfying its basic human needs, the basis of its economic welfare and opportunities for sustainable development. This research thesis will be carried out through systematic, critical and empirical processes with a quantitative and descriptive scope; the global model presented by the Imperative Social Progress will be used for this purpose.

Full textThe interest in finding a metric that is capable of measuring the level of progress of societies and that in turn allows comparisons between them is not a recent concern. In that sense, the efforts deployed in this regard from different approaches have been very diverse. In the 1930s, Kuznets presented the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as the index most used to measure the production capacity of a society. But it is not possible to associate economic growth per se with the development and welfare of a society. Since the creation of the United Nations System, indices have been created to measure development in terms of social welfare, such as the Human Development Index (HDI), Human Opportunity Index (OIH). In this sense, the Social Progress Index (IPS) was presented as a tool capable of measuring the welfare of people and societies with an integrating and holistic approach. The present investigation has a quantitative approach with descriptive and nonexperimental scope, with the objective of measuring the IPS of the Celendín district for which relevant information was collected about the current living conditions of the inhabitants. To obtain data, we use sources primary and secondary. The primary source was obtained from the survey applied to a sample of 385 households, the survey consists of 58 questions aimed at obtaining information on the 12 components of the IPS. The data collection carried out in the Celendín district yielded an IPS of 48.58 located in the Low range, which placed it at a level similar to that of the Cajamarca region. The main gaps identified in the present investigation are in the Human Needs dimension Basic with a value of 43.19; we also find a critical gap in the Opportunities dimension, whose metric is 50.79, both indicators are below the average for the region and the country; and finally in the component Fundamentals of well-being we found an indicator of 51.78.

Full textThe aim of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) in bovines of extensive rearing without history of vaccination, from the province of San Pablo, department of Cajamarca. There were collected 385 blood serum samples of bovines divided in the following age groups: two to younger than six, six to younger than 12 months and older than 12 months of age. The detection of antibodies against BVDV was made through the viral neutralization test. The 27.1 ± 4.4% (104/385) of sampled bovines showed antibodies against BVDV, distributed into the three age groups; there was not statistical difference (p>0.05). The percentage of seroreactors females was 27.8 ± 4.5% (79/285) and males was 25.1 ± 4.3% (25/100); there was not statistical difference (p>0.05). The titles of antibodies were between 2 to higher than 256. The 60.3 ± 9.4% (50/83) of animals older than 12 months presented titles of antibodies between 128 and higher than 256. In conclusion, BVDV is presented on the population of sampled bovines from the province of San Pablo, although with a lower prevalence compared with similar studies made in other areas of the country.
