Dubbed here the Wye manuscript, this text purports to be an English translation of a sixteenth-century Malayalam history that was produced at the court of the ruler of Calicut. Treatment with alkyl halides under basic conditions yielded the S-alkyl derivatives. The synthesised compounds are characterised by spectral and analytical data. Most of the compounds of the series exhibit promising antibacterial and antifungal activities.

Only two species of Chrysidea Bischoff, 1913 have been reported from India: C. furiosa (Cameron, 1897) from West Bengal and C. pumila (Klug, 1845) from Maharashtra.
