In the experiment E683 at Fermi National Accelerator Lab (FNAL) in Batavia, Illinois, a modular, high-energy sampling calorimeter was the basis of the detector system. In order to monitor each of the 528 modules of the calorimeter, an embedded LED was flashed directly into each of the 528 PMT tubes (which normally pick up the light from the sampling modules of the calorimeter) and their responses were recorded. MINOS is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment. A neutrino beam is created at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Illinois and fired down through the Earth. Measurements of the energy spectra and composition of the neutrino beam are made both at the source using the Near detector and 735 km away at the Soudan Underground Laboratory in Minnesota using the Far detector. The calibration and quality control measurements of the ZEUS forward and rear calorimeters made using movable $ sp{60} Co$ sources are described. The types of assembly faults discovered from the runs taken first at CERN and then later at DESY from mid 1990 to early 1991 are presented. The WLS attenuation length as well as changes in the attenuation length of the scintillators can be monitored by the cobalt scans.

This thesis presents an analysis of neutrino interactions using the Electromagnetic Calorimeters (ECals) of the Tokai-to-Kamioka (T2K) off-axis near detector (ND280) as a target using data collected during T2K run 3C. The analysis presented shows the development of a new set of re- construction algorithms which are able to reconstruct multiple tracks which originate from the same neutrino interaction.
