Abstract:
This thesis is an effort to learn more about semen production, storage and Artificial insemination (AI) in camels. It examines the effect of semen collection frequency and reproductive seasonality of male dromedary. It also examines the suitability of different commercially available extenders for liquid storage of semen at 4 and 15 oC and in vivo fertility of fresh, liquid stored and frozen thawed semen. The outputs of the thesis showed that repeated semen collection can be conducted once per week without affecting libido and semen quality. When collection frequency, however, is increased to

Abstract:
The dromedary camel (Camelus dromedarius) plays an important role in the socioeconomic lives of nomadic pastoral communities scattered across the Middle East and Northern Africa. Camel beauty competitions are highly encouraged and appreciated by members of countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The owners of winning camels bag prizes worth millions of US dollars. The absence of properly documented and scientifically evaluated characteristics of beauty camels in Oman could lead to the loss of this part of the rich culture and tradition in the future, confining it among breeders exclus

Abstract:
The dromedary camel (Camelus dromedarius) commonly referred to as ‘ship of the desert’ has played an important part in the development and expansion of trading networks across inhospitable habitats over 3000 years, linking Arabian, Asian, African and European civilisations. Caravan roads, which are part of the major trading networks, have facilitated livestock exchange across large geographic distances. Dromedary camels are known to have been extensively used as pack animals along these caravan roads. Archaeological records point towards the southern Arabian Peninsula as the origin of the dome

The study was conducted on two groups of camels; Group I consisted of forty-one camels from Sudan and Egypt with the weight range of 350-550 kg. Camels in Group II (four camels) were studied in Germany their body weight ranged 400-600 kg. Abstract:
The one-humped or the dromedarian camel is a pseudo-ruminant mammal, well adapted to the hot and dry climates of the desert. Its ability to withstand torrid heat and extreme desiccation is of paramount importance to its survival. The studies presented in this thesis were designed to investigate and document the effect of dehydration in the presence or absence of angiotensin II (Ang II) AT1 receptor blocker (losartan) on blood constituents, electrolytes, hormones, neurotransmitters as well as liver and kidney enzymes in a subset of dehydrated camels and to compare them with hydrated camels. Ces valeurs situent en moyenne les laits du Kazakhstan très différemment des autres laits (résultat d’une méta-analyse quasi-exhaustive des publications sur le lait de chamelle).
