Abstract In 1851 more than 1.6 million signatures endorsed a petition for an amendment to the 1848 constitution that would have allowed Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte to stand for reelection. Following contemporary critics who claimed that the movement had been orchestrated by the government, scholars have been little impressed by this mobilization, which produced the largest petition of nineteenth-century France. By analyzing the petitions and the signatures themselves, official reports, correspondence of key actors, and the public debate, this article reappraises the campaign, making three claims:

Abstract Mobile robots coupled with robotic arms are a powerful instrument for factory automation, and they have become more and more popular in last years. Their digital twins allow to simulate the behavior in an industrial environment, increasing the capability to monitor their performance to detect failures or deviation from expected behavior. This work considers a system composed by a MiR250 mobile robot and by a UR5 anthropomorphic robot and describes the digital twin of the composed system. The digital twin is the coupling of the model of the UR5 robotic arm and that of the mobile robot.

Abstract:
Analyzing electoral trends in political scenarios using social media with data mining techniques has become popular in recent years. A problem in this field is to reliably annotate data during the short period of electoral campaigns. In this paper, we present a methodology to measure labeling divergence and an exploratory analysis of data related to the 2018 Brazilian Presidential Elections. As a result, we point out some of the main characteristics that lead to a high level of divergence during the annotation process in this domain. Our analysis shows a high degree of divergence mainly in reg

The rapid advancement of ICTs has outstripped the theoretical rationalization, regulatory framework, business models, professional practices and audiences’ participation in contemporary democratic processes (Kaid L., Mazoleni G., Blumler JG, Esser F.). This new ‘mosaic culture’ is characterized by demassification of media and of society itself. A virtual online culture has been created which, due to its interactive nature, acts as integrating while having an alienating and restrictive impact on people, destroying ‘live’ communication. Nevertheless, media still stays among the main factors of t

In May 2022, Lebanon is hosting its first parliamentary elections since the popular uprising of October 2019, when massive protests took place to denounce the current ruling elites. This research looks at voter turnout and behavior on the eve of the elections and examines the will for political change. It argues that in the current Lebanese context, there needs to be further political awareness-raising, and campaigns should be more inclusive of women and the queer community. Independent campaigns should focus on developing strong governing capacities that voters can trust, and create further s

Unlike previous European elections, the 2024 European election brought the discussion of European issues to the media and political agendas in Portugal, a country where most voters hold a positive image of the EU. Despite managing to elect its first two MEPs, the European election was not fertile terrain for Chega, as it stopped Chega’s continuous electoral growth since 2019 and its objectives were not fully achieved. Poor candidate selection, overambitious goals, a disconnect between Chega’s soft Euroscepticism and its supporters’ mostly enthusiastic view of the EU, ambiguity about which Euro
