Abstract:
A candlenut peeling machine is a technological innovation aimed at improving the efficiency of separating candlenut seeds from their shells. Hand-peeling candlenuts requires a lot of time and effort, and it carries a high risk of damaging the candlenut kernels due to uneven impact. This candlenut peeling machine is equipped with a mechanism that reduces seed damage and increases productivity. The machine can be operated manually or semi-automatically and works on the principle of utilizing pressure and friction to break the shell without damaging the seeds inside. Experimental results show tha

With the traditional method, 1 worker can only produce 1.5 kg/hour of candlenut. When it rains, the candlenut cannot be dried in the sun, so the production of candlenut stops. Candlenut which is not completely dried, cannot produce quality candlenuts when cracked. This study aims to increase the quantity and quality of the candlenut seed production through the design of an integrated drying and filter component of the pecan shell separator using the 3 variable machine capacity test method (drying temperature, drying time and motor rotation) needed to produce optimal conditions for production c

Candlenut shell (Aleurites moluccana Willd) is a waste produced from processing candlenut plants with a fairly hard texture. The use of candlenut shells as fertilizer, especially in Central Sulawesi, has not been done so much. The aim of this study was to determine the levels of calcium (Ca) and potassium (K) in candlenut shells. Calcium and potassium levels were determined using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The results show that the average calcium level in the candlenut shell is 0.315 ± 0.09%, while the average potassium level is 0.090 ± 0.01%. The results of Ca and K in can

Organic waste from coconut shells, corn cobs, candlenut shells, and lamtoro wood is often found in the Gorontalo region. The gasification of organic waste has the potential to reduce organic waste and produce gas for various applications, including heating, power generation, and industrial raw materials. The research aims to determine the gas composition of the downdraft gasification process from organic waste from coconut shells, candlenut shells, corn cobs, and lamtoro wood, to determine the rate of fuel consumption, and to determine the calorific value. The high demand for concrete in construction has increased the need for concrete materials, driving the mining of rocks as a primary component of concrete. Using simple technology that utilizes local resources, including waste as building materials, is essential for concrete technology development. Candlenut shells are a new potential material due to their hard texture. This study uses a design strength of 25 MPa for normal concrete, aiming to observe the effect of using candlenut shells as a partial coarse aggregate replacement with added Silica Fume on concrete's compressive and flexural str

Postharvest handling of candlenut in the traditional way is less effective and efficient. A worker is only able to break as much as 9–10 kg of candlenut/day and this also causes high work fatigue, besides thas many kernels are broken and destroyed (percentage og intact round kernels is only 40–60 %) so the price of candlenut becomes cheaper. Therefore, a candlenut crushing machine is needed with an optimum rorational speed that able to provide optimal and consistent energy to candlenuts crushing result.
