Abstract:

Uma nova espécie de Canistrum E. Morren (Bromeliaceae) da Bahia e de Minas Gerais é descrita e ilustrada. Um breve histórico é apresentado, mostrando a difícil delimitação entre Canistrum e Wittrockia Lind., justificando o posicionamento da nova espécie no gênero Canistrum. Canistrum flavipetalum Wand. pode ocorrer como epífita, saxícola ou terrestre em capões de mata nos Estados da Bahia e de Minas Gerais. Apresenta afinidades morfológicas com Canistrum cyathiforme (Vell.) Mez, ambas com escapo conspícuo, apresentando este uma a três brácteas. Diferem essencialmente pelas pétalas amarelo-alaranjadas e brácteas da inflorescência róseas a púrpuras em C. cyathiforme, enquanto que em C. flavipetalum as brácteas são esverdeadas a alvacentas, algumas vezes avermelhadas no ápice e as pétalas são amarelo-claras com base esverdeada.

Abstract:

Este trabalho é um estudo taxonômico das espécies do gênero Canistrum no Estado do Paraná. Canistrum cyathiforme (Veil.) Mez e C. lindenii (Regei) Mez são as únicas espécies pertencentes ao gênero, encontradas na flora paranaense. C. lindenii está restrita a três variedades e quatro formas: C. lindenii (Regei) Mez var. lindenii f. lindenii; C. lindenii var. viride (E. Morren) Reitz f. magnum Reitz; C. lindenii var. roseum (E. Morren) L. B. Sm. f. humile Reitz e C. lindenii var. roseum í.procerum Reitz. São apresentadas chaves de identificação, descrições, ilustrações e distribuição geográfica dos táxons estudados.

Abstract:

All life stages of Stenochironomus atlanticus Pinho & Mendes sp. n. are described and figured. The larva mines decaying leaves held in the water of several bromeliad species (Canistrum lindenii (Regel) Mez, Neoregelia laevis (Mez) L.B. Smith, Nidularium innocentii Lemaire, Vriesea philippocoburgii Wawra, and Vriesea vagans (L.B. Smith) L.B. Smith.) in the Atlantic Rain Forest in southern Brazil [Desterro Environmental Conservation Unit (Unidade de Conservação Ambiental Desterro – UCAD), Santa Catarina Island]. Stenochironomus atlanticus is the only species in the genus found in the phytotelmata habitat, and it apparently is restricted to this environment.

Abstract:

Canistrum aurantiacum é uma espécie esciófila, epifítica ou terrestre, componente do sub-bosque de mata e endêmica da Floresta Atlântica dos Estados de Pernambuco e Alagoas. Na Reserva Ecológica de Dois Irmãos (REDI) (8º7'30"S e 34º52'30"W a ± 80 msm), em Pernambuco, C. aurantiacum forma densa população, com período de floração de novembro a meados de fevereiro, com pico no ínicio de dezembro, quando chega a abrir, num único dia, até doze flores por indivíduo. Suas flores são tubulosas, com 4 a 5 cm de comprimento. Apresenta síndrome de ornitofilia caracterizada pela antese diurna e ausência de odor nas flores, com corola amarelo-ouro e pela cor vermelha das brácteas involucrais, além do volume e concentração do néctar variando entre 22,6-40,5ml e 26-33%, respectivamente. O pólen e o estigma estão funcionais durante todo o período de antese, que se inicia por volta das 5:20 h da manhã e começam a fechar por volta das 16:00 h. Foram registrados os beija-flores: Chlorostilbon aureoventris e Thalurania watertonii (Trochilinae), Glaucis hirsuta, Phaethornis pretrei e P. ruber (Phaethornitinae). Este último foi observado em intervalos regulares de 10 a 30 min., caracterizando o padrão de visitas do tipo "trap-lining", sendo considerado o principal polinizador da espécie. C. aurantiacum é autocompatível, porém produz baixo número de sementes por fruto nas autopolinizações em relação às polinizações naturais promovidas pelos beija-flores. Pipra rubrocapilla (Pipridae) e Tangara faustuosa (Thraupinae) foram observados dispersando os frutos de C. aurantiacum. A ornitofilia predominante em Bromeliaceae tem sido interpretada como mecanismo de evolução paralela entre bromélias e beija-flores. Canistrum aurantiacum pode se caracterizar como um exemplo dessa estreita relação.

Abstract:

The Neotropical genus Leptagrion Selys is composed by 16 species, mainly distributed in northern and central South America (Costa & Garrison 2001; De Marmels & Garrison 2005; Lencioni 2006). Only phytotelmic habitats were recorded for its larvae, exclusively in bromeliads, e.g., Vriesia, Neoregelia, Quesnelia, Portea, Bilbergia, Canistrum, Aechmea (Santos 1966, 1968, 1978, 1979; Lounibos et al. 1987; Corbet 1999). However, no final stage larva of any species of Leptagrion has been described to date. De Marmels (1985) described that of L. fernandezianum Rácenis, but this species was transferred to the newly erected and related genus Bromeliagrion De Marmels in De Marmels & Garrison (De Marmels & Garrison 2005). In addition, Torreias et al. (2008) described the final instar larva of B. rehni Garrison from Guzmania bromeliads. Leptagrion andromache Hagen in Selys belongs to the porrectum species group and was previously recorded from Brazil (Espirito Santo) (Costa & Garrison 2001; Lencioni 2006). In this paper we describe the final instar larva of L. andromache based on reared specimens of both sexes collected in Misiones province, Argentina and we compare them with that of B. fernandezianum and B. rehni.

Abstract:

RESUMO A Mata Atlântica está entre as mais importantes florestas tropicais do mundo, sendo considerada prioridade em termos de conservação devido a seu grau de ameaça e megadiversidade. Nesta floresta, Bromeliaceae é um dos grupos taxonômicos mais relevantes, devido ao alto grau de endemismo e expressivo valor ecológico decorrente principalmente de sua interação com a fauna. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo disponibilizar a lista de táxons de Bromeliaceae ocorrentes no domínio da Mata Atlântica no Brasil e o status de conservação de cada espécie de acordo com as listas oficias, bem como a distribuição destas nos estados e nos corredores da biodiversidade. Foram registrados 31 gêneros, 803 espécies e 150 táxons infraespecíficos. Os gêneros Andrea, Canistropsis, Canistrum, Edmundoa, Fernseea, Lymania, Nidularium, Portea, Quesnelia e Wittrockia são endêmicos do domínio e Vriesea (166 spp.), Aechmea (136 spp.) e Neoregelia (97 spp.) são os mais diversos. Também merecem destaque Alcantarea, Cryptanthus, Orthophytum e Neoregelia, que não são exclusivos da Mata Atlântica, porém, apresentam neste domínio seu centro de diversidade. Os estados da Região Sudeste somados ao sul da Bahia são os que abrigam a maior riqueza de espécies. Quanto ao status de ameaça, constatou-se que 338 táxons de Bromeliaceae encontram-se citados em listas oficiais de espécies ameaçadas. Os corredores da biodiversidade se mostraram de extrema relevância para a conservação da família, abrigando um grande número de espécies ameaçadas e endêmicas.

De nombreux aspects de la conception du monde ont été clarifiés et, par conséquent, les formes universelles dans lesquelles se façonnait la personnalité humaine ont pu faire l'objet d'un éclairage nouveau. Les caractéristiques sociales et psychologiques des différentes couches de la société ont été analysées. Toutefois, la personnalité continue comme telle à échapper à l'historien. L'étude de l'individualité rencontre des difficultés essentielles. Individuum est ineffabile.

Abstract:

Purpose The University of Kansas (KU) libraries has faced increased requests for streaming video in the past five years. While we have provided access to many databases of films, feature films remained a problem. To write a collection development policy, the library undertook three investigations to ensure the outcome reflected the needs of the university. Design/methodology/approach Film titles included in Swank 300 and Criterion-on-Demand were checked against the CanIStream. it? website to check for availability through streaming, rental or purchase services. Student library users were surveyed to determine if they had streaming subscriptions and, if so, which ones. KU librarians also examined academic library collection development polices to understand how others have addressed this issue. Findings More than half of the feature films provided by the two vendors are available through subscriptions, renting or purchasing methods. A majority of students subscribe to one or more of these services. Many academic libraries are deciding not to provide streaming feature films. Originality/value There are no previous studies on students’ subscriptions to streaming services linked to availability of feature films offered from commercial vendors to libraries.
