The paper discusses possibilities of using the portable falling weight deflectometer to measure the bearing capacity and compaction of forest soils.<B> </B>Within the study, measurements were made using manual penetrometer and Loadman II portable falling weight deflectometer. To eliminate the extreme values, Grubbs’s test was used. The results indicate that Loadman II deflectometer may be used to measure both the bearing capacity and compaction of forest soils under the canopy as well as in transport lines. A significant difference was found between deflection of water-unaffected sites and water-affected sites (12.08 and 2.31 mm, respectively). Measurements of bearing capacity after removal of forest litter give far more precise details; however, the authors do not refuse the measurements without litter removal, either. To determine the degrees of soil compaction, it is useful to measure the soil reaction time; to measure the bearing capacity it is vital to measure deflection. <B></B>

Molto si è discusso sulla capacità dei distretti industriali italiani di fornire un vantaggio alle imprese che lo compongono in termini di capacità innovativa, flessibilità e produttività. Nell'ambito di questo dibattito, il presente lavoro si pone l'obiettivo di discutere se e come tale potenzialità possa portare non solo benefici economici ma anche vantaggi ambientali. L'agglomerazione in un territorio ristretto di attività produttive che insistono sulle stesse ri-sorse può portare a un forte degrado ambientale, ma anche a una maggiore pressione dagli stakeholder locali per invertire questa tendenza, portando a situazioni più virtuose che in altri territori. In questo scenario è presentato il contesto di Arzignano come esempio di come le dinamiche distrettuali possano innescare una propensione alla sostenibilità ambientale. Attra-verso l'analisi dei dati sul livello di inquinamento delle imprese e considerando le attività isti-tuzionali condotte da Acque del Chiampo Spa, l'ente gestore dell'impianto collettivo di depu-razione, si descrivono le attività di eco-innovazione introdotte e le performance ottenute, dan-do spunti utili per comprendere come i distretti industriali possano diventare attori del cam-biamento verso la sostenibilità e del contesto istituzionale di supporto in questa transizione.

The study is limited to the evaluation of short-term loads that would cause cracking in the ice cover. This paper presents a series of experimental measurements of the bearing capacity of spread foundations resting on a layer of sand of finite thickness; they are carried out using circular or rectangular laboratory models. After an analysis of the graphical expression of results illustrating the foundation–soil behaviour under the applied load, we study the relationships between the bearing capacity coefficient and the different parameters of the problem: relative thickness of the compressible layer, interfacial foundation–soil and soil–substratum conditions of friction, shape factor of the models.In every case, the results have been compared with available results of other authors and related with existing theoretical or semiempirical methods; these comparisons lead to the proposal of a rational testing procedure for determining the ultimate load for shallow foundations. Key words: foundations, bearing capacity, interfaces, scale effect, shape factor, bilayer.

La gestione e la manutenzione dei ponti in Italia è per legge affidata all'Ente proprietario; tuttavia non sempre questi riesce a far fronte, a causa della scarsità di risorse alla manutenzione di tutte le opere realizzati. Questa tesi illustra una metodologia completa che, partendo dall'ispezione visiva del manufatto permette l'individuazione delle situazioni di maggior degrado. L'utilizzo di prove in sito permette quindi la determinazione delle caratteristiche meccaniche dei materiali; queste a loro volta sono inserite in un modello numerico calibrato che simula il reale comportamento della struttura sotto carico. I risultati numerici consentono l'esecuzione di verifiche di resistenza nelle sezioni maggiormente sollecitate e il confronto delle deformazioni teoriche con quelle sperimentali ottenute da prove di carico statiche. Il metodo permette quindi, sulle basi dei risultati sperimentali e numerici la certificazione della capacità portante dell'opera, lasciando all'Ente la possibilità di stimare accuratamente i costi di risanamento.

Abstract:
Ce mémoire montre la construction de modèles de calcul, pour l'étude de la capacité portante des fondations superficielles soumises à des sollicitations sismiques. La première partie examine la règlementation française (Règles PSG9) et ses évolutions (Recommandations AFPS90), dans le-domaine de la protection parasismique. A partir des données sismologiques et géotechniques concernant le site particulier de Mexico, le second chapitre fournit les paramètres sismiques de la modélisalion. La troisième partie propose le remplacement des effets dynamiques du séisme par des efforts pseudo-statiques équivalents à l'utilisation de l'Analyse Limite, pour déterminer les chargements de rupture, en supposant un comportement rigide-plastique du sol. Les différentes approches sont rappelées ici. La quatrième partie présente les résultats obtenus par les trois méthodes suivantes: une approche statique élastique, un calcul utilisant des lignes de rupture circulaires, un calcul cinématique faisant intervenir une méthode de résolution par éléments finis. L'influence des paramètres de dimension des modèles (L,H,B) est particulièrement mise en évidence. Enfin, une cinquième partie est consacrée au calcul du déplacement permanent résultant d'une secousse sismique. Deux lypes de méthodes sont présentés, supposant toutes un comportement rigide-plastique les premières ne considèrent, comme effet du séisme, qu'une surcharge temporaire au niveau de l'ouvrage, les dernières déterminent le déplacement, à partir d'un accélérogramme artificiel et de coefficients sismiques appliqués à l'ensemble sol-fondation.

Abstract:
La modélisation par centrifugation est devenue une approche expérimentale courante des problèmes d'interactions sols-structures. Cette méthode est appliquée à l'étude de plusieurs problèmes de fondations superficielles. La prévision de la capacité portante de fondations filantes, établies sur sol horizontal, peut être effectuée, dans des conditions satisfaisantes, par différentes méthodes de calcul a partir d'essais de laboratoires ou d'essais in situ. L'effet de la proximité d'un talus et celui de la longueur de la fondation sont par contre mal connus et les méthodes usuelles, pour déterminer la portance des fondations dans ce type de configuration, donnent des résultats disperses et peu fiables. Un premier programme de recherches expérimentales sur modèles centrifuges a été d'abord engage pour déterminer les coefficients de réduction de portance due a une pente. Des expressions simples donnant la valeur de ces coefficients de réduction, tant pour les semelles filantes que pour les fondations rectangulaires, ont été proposées pour être intégrées dans les méthodes réglementaires de dimensionnement. Une autre série d'essais a été spécialement conduite pour déterminer les mécanismes de rupture sous des semelles filantes. Une méthode de traitement numérique d'images vidéo prises en cours de centrifugation a été mise en œuvre pour obtenir les champs de déplacement au sein du massif. L'ensemble des résultats expérimentaux ont été confronte a ceux des méthodes théoriques et notamment des calculs a la rupture. Une seconde campagne d'essais a porté sur l'effet de la longueur de la fondation, des fondations carrées aux semelles filantes. Apres comparaison avec les autres données expérimentales disponibles, des coefficients de forme, pour l'évaluation de la portance des fondations, sont également proposés

En plasticité associée c’est-à-dire avec la loi de normalité, la solution analytique de Prandtl-Hill donne la charge limite exacte d’un poinçon sur un massif semi-infini de fondation avec le critère de Mohr-Coulomb. Or, il est reconnu expérimentalement que les sols ont un comportement plastique non associé, ce qui signifie qu’en réalité la valeur de la charge limite n’est qu’une estimation.On se propose dans ce travail de combler ce manque en abordant le problème de la capacité portante d’une fondation superficielle lorsque la loi de plasticité est non associée. Sur la base des simulations numériques et d’une extension de l’analyse limite aux matériaux à lois non associées par l’approche du bipotentiel, de Saxcé (1992), on propose une solution analytique approchée par une méthode variationnelle et on la compare à la formule de Drescher et Detournay (1993) et aux résultats numériques
In associated plasticity, i.e. with the normality law, Prandtl-Hill analytical solution gives the exact limit load of a punch on a semi-infinite massive of foundation with Mohr-Coulomb model. However, it is experimentally recognized that geomaterial shave a non-associated behavior, what means that in reality the value of the limit load is only an estimation.In this work, it is proposed to fill this lack in addressing the problem of the bearing capacity of a shallow foundation, when the low of plasticity is no-associated. On the basis of numerical simulations and an extension of the limit analysis method to materials with non-associated laws by the bipotential approach, de Saxcé (1992), we proposed an approximated analytical solution by a variational method and we compared to Drescher-Detournay formula (1993) and numerical results

Dans cette recherche est développé un modèle de calcul de la capacité portante des murs en maçonnerie de petits éléments sous charges verticales centrées ou excentrées. Le modèle est capable de prendre en compte l'influence des discontinuités mécaniques introduites par les joints horizontaux et verticaux en considérant les caractéristiques mécaniques des blocs et des joints de mortier. La détermination des caractéristiques mécaniques du mortier des joints a également été menée. Les essais sur des éprouvettes découpées dans les joints de mortier après durcissement ont mis en évidence l'influence des phénomènes de succion des blocs sur les caractéristiques mécaniques du mortier. Cette étude a montré également que la détermination de la loi de comportement du mortier à partir .de celle des assemblages et des blocs en utilisant l'approche proposée par PAGE sous-estime la valeur du module d'élasticité initial du mortier. Un dispositif expérimental spécifique a été mis au point pour la détermination des lois excentricité-courbure à effort normal maintenu constant. Ce dispositif permet également de mettre en évidence les modes de rupture observés dans les assemblages ainsi que l'influence du type de mortier sur leur déformabilité. D'une manière générale, on a pu constater une bonne correspondance entre résultats théoriques et expérimentaux en particulier dans le cas où l'on considère la maçonnerie comme un matériau hétérogène.

The objective of this work is to better understand the phenomena related to vibratory driving and to capitalize on it. This report is organized into three chapters. The first describes two techniques of driven piles: impact driving and vibratory driving. The second chapter is based on two axes : 1) A full scale experimental study of acoustic impact of sound and especially an analysis of noise caused by the driving piles with a vibrator, a hydraulic hammer or a pneumatic hammer, 2) A full scale experimental study of particulate velocity during pile driving, coupled with a numerical analysis (both in 2D and in 3D), with the finite element software package CESAR-LCPC. From full-scale experiments, the third chapter compares the bearing capacity of piles implemented by impact and vibratory driving and proposes to take into account the vibratory driving piles into the French rules

La straordinarietà della situazione, con l’Europa alle prese con lockdown e fermi produttivi, ha portato l’Osservatorio a far seguire alla tradizionale rilevazione avviata a fine Febbraio 2020 una seconda indagine di approfondimento mirata a raccogliere le prime reazioni delle imprese della filiera alla crisi da coronavirus. Questa edizione del volume è, quindi, particolarmente ricca di spunti in quanto collega la fotografia del 2019 alla situazione generata dalla pandemia nel 2020. Il quadro complessivo è quello di una filiera i cui risultati in termini di fatturato, produzione ed export erano già in contrazione nel 2019 e, di conseguenza, particolarmente esposta alla crisi del 2020, soprattutto per alcune categorie di imprese meno resilienti. Il superamento di questa situazione critica potrà giocarsi sulla capacità di sviluppare aggregazioni e reti per l’innovazione, con obiettivi importanti di competitività dell’intera filiera sullo scenario internazionale.

La storia dell’infanzia è una storia ininterrotta di abusi e ancora oggi, inorriditi spettatori, assistiamo a episodi raccapriccianti di bambini sottoposti a violenze fisiche e psicologiche, senza percepire la vera portata di una realtà spesso inconfessata. Il fenomeno dell’abuso sui minori è una piaga destinata a restare drammaticamente sommersa se nei professionisti chiamati ad ascoltare e a visitare le giovani vittime mancano la capacità di interpretare le parole e i silenzi, se manca la comprensione delle varie forme con cui la violenza si può manifestare o la disponibilità a condividere percorsi di formazione comuni, multiprofessionali e interistituzionali. È dunque assolutamente indispensabile che i professionisti a cui è richiesto di valutare un sospetto caso di abuso siano in grado di mettere in campo un approccio adeguato e conoscenze specialistiche che possano tutelare i minori, sia a livello clinico che legale; che sappiano contestualizzare ogni segno rilevato alla luce della storia personale della vittima, del suo racconto dei fatti e di una valutazione psicologica approfondita. I segni diagnostici diretti sono infatti spesso esigui, aspecifici se non addirittura assenti, ma il ricordo degli eventi traumatici, seppur rimosso o negato, non può essere cancellato e potrà riaffiorare dolorosamente in qualsiasi momento.

Abstract:
The current and future wireless communication systems demand for higher data rates, enhanced quality of service and more channel capacity. Since Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allocated the unlicensed frequency spectrum from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz for commercial applications in the year 2002, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology has attained considerable attention because of its inherent features like high data rate, more channel capacity, extremely less power consumption and low cost. However, for UWB systems, multipath fading and frequency interference are the two significant issues that requires further investigation. In recent times, Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology has gained much attention in wireless communication as it exploits multipath to increase the communication range and link quality. Thus, MIMO technology is a promising solution for mitigating multipath fading in UWB system. However, accommodating multiple antennas with less mutual coupling between them in portable devices is always a challenging task for antenna designers. UWB system could easily interfere with existing narrowband communication system such as Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). So, the design of an ultra-wideband antenna with integrated frequency notching function is a good solution to suppress the frequency interference and to reduce the complexity of the UWB system instead of using a conventional filter. In this chapter, compact isolation-enhanced planar UWB-MIMO antenna with single band-notched characteristics is presented.

An infrastructure-based mobile environment is formed with a wireless network connecting mobile hosts (MHs) and mobile support stations (MSSs). MHs are clients equipped with portable devices, such as laptops, personal digital assistants, cellular phones, and so on, while MSSs are stationary servers providing information access for the MHs residing in their service areas. With the recent widespread deployment of contemporary peer-to-peer (known as P2P throughout this chapter) wireless communication technologies, such as IEEE 802.11 (IEEE Standard 802-11, 1997) and Bluetooth (Bluetooth SIG, 2004), coupled with the fact that the computation power and storage capacity of most portable devices have been improving at a fast pace, a new information sharing paradigm known as P2P information access has rapidly taken shape. The MHs can share information among themselves rather than having to rely solely on their connections to the MSS. This article reviews a hybrid communication framework - that is, mobile cooperative caching - which combines the P2P information access paradigm into the infrastructure-based mobile environment.

Lightweight, flexible, wearable, and portable electronic gadgets have drawn significant attention in modern electronics industry. To power these gadgets, great efforts have been made to develop highly efficient energy-storage equipment. Among various power sources, a supercapacitor, acting as a bridge between the conventional battery and electrolytic capacitor, has been considered a promising portable energy storage device because of its high power density, fast charge/discharge rate, adequate operational safety, and excellent working lifetime. Hybrid supercapacitors, which combine redox materials with carbon-based materials, exhibit tremendous potential to fulfill the requirement of practical applications. In this chapter, we will review recent reports focusing on composite materials (i.e. metal oxide, metal hydroxide, and metal dichalcogenide composited with carbon materials) for the application in supercapacitors. The conclusion and futuristic prospects and challenges of highly efficient supercapacitors are briefly discussed.
