Abstract:
Let F be a totally real number field and p an odd prime, we note K0 = F(ζp). For an integer n, Kn is the nth floor of the ℤp-cyclotomic extension K∞/K0, An is the p-part of the class group of Kn, [Formula: see text] and N∞ is the extension of K∞ generated by p-primary roots of units. In this article, we prove that the plus part of the capitulation's cokernel [Formula: see text], on which Γ-action was twisted on time by the cyclotomic character, and the minus part of the ℤp-torsion of the Galois group Gal (N∞ ∩ L∞/K∞) is isomorphic.

Abstract:
What effect does the type of economic sanctions have on sanctions duration? Despite extensive research about their effect on sanctions success, little is known about how sanction types affect the duration of sanctions episodes. I argue that, among different types of economic sanctions, terminating foreign aid to target states (foreign aid sanctions) expedites target capitulation, because it imposes disproportionate costs on elites and crucial regime supporters. However, I also contend that the effect of foreign aid sanctions is rendered indistinguishable from other types of economic coercion over time, as target governments adjust to the adverse impacts of sanctions. The empirical tests using the Threat and Imposition of Economic Sanctions dataset provide supporting evidence for my hypotheses that foreign aid sanctions accelerate target capitulations, but this effect diminishes over time.

Abstract:
Abstract: The Ottoman Empire stood above Sharia’s Islam, which at first was only a sultanate and then its power expanded to the gates of Vienna (Austria), the North African region, Arabia and its territory to Aceh Darussalam. The Legal Capitulation Treaty was favorable in the heyday, because traders were stimulated to carry out activities in the Ottoman ports, especially in Istanbul. Significant increase in the country's foreign exchange, so that large activities are carried out without any monetary shock. After a leadership crisis, this legal capitulation agreement has been fruitful. More and more foreign consuls, expanded treaties and sharia judgments began to lose function because many Christian citizens and Jews who had never known the French, British and other European countries had taken refuge behind the Capitulation agreement which had privileges in tax relief, immune from civil or criminal law. This led to the secularism of Ottoman law which contained European law material. There is an uncontrolled Tanzimat, it should only be in the field of military and economic technology and strategy but has penetrated the judicial system and legal material. Which ends with the loss of Ottoman sovereignty.

Abstract:
AbstractLet L be a finite extension of a number field K with ring of integers and respectively. One can consider as a projective module over . The highest exterior power of as an module gives an element of the class group of , called the Steinitz module. These considerations work also for algebraic curves where we prove that for a finite unramified cover Y of an algebraic curve X, the Steinitz module as an element of the Picard group of X is the sum of the line bundles on X which become trivial when pulled back to Y. We give some examples to show that this kind of result is not true for number fields. We also make some remarks on the capitulation problem for both number field and function fields. (An ideal in is said to capitulate in L if its extension to is a principal ideal.)

Abstract:
The question of who should utilize the war power has been debated from the founding of the republic and the core issues while couched in different terms, and while war has become much more technologically advanced, remain the same. The fundamental question is one of what the President can do, and what Congress should do. I attempt to primarily address the question of what Congress should do with regard to the war powers rather than what the President can do because the scope of presidential war powers has been extensively researched and written about in the scholarly literature. Instead I address what from an institutional structure and policy perspective Congress ought to do with relation to the war powers and their execution.
