Abstract Context.—Lung and breast carcinomas are among the most prevalent cancers. Advances in cancer therapies can provide survival benefit and be potentially curative, even in metastatic disease. Due to the high prevalence of these carcinomas, it is not unusual to encounter lung nodule(s) in a patient with breast carcinoma, and distinguishing between primary and metastatic disease is critical for management/treatment. Occasionally neuroendocrine differentiation is present in breast carcinoma, making its distinction from pulmonary/nonpulmonary neuroendocrine tumors in the lung difficult. Obje

Mammary carcinoid is an uncommon neoplasm. It accounts for approximately 5 per cent of all breast carcinomas. It is well-known that neuroendocrine elements can be demonstrated in ductal and lobular carcinoma. However, it is still controversial whether mammary carcinoid tumors should be considered a distinct clinical entity or be treated as a variant of conventional breast carcinoma. Differentiating these lesions from benign lesions such as epithelial hyperplasia and papillomas can be challenging at times. We present a case of neuroendocrine tumor of the breast.

We herein report a case of synchronous bilateral solid papillary carcinoma of the breast. A 73-year-old female had a mass that was detected in the right breast on mammography. An ultrasound examination revealed one intracystic tumor in the right breast and two tumors in the left breast. A fine-needle aspiration biopsy of these three tumors was performed, which revealed a diagnosis of malignancy. A magnetic resonance imaging examination of the breasts showed diffuse small nodules surrounding these tumors bilaterally. Bilateral partial mastectomy and a sentinel lymph node biopsy were performed.

Abstract Mammary carcinoma arising in ectopic breast tissue is an uncommon occurrence. Most reported cases have involved ductal carcinoma, but other types, such as medullary, papillary, and lobular carcinomas, have been described. For pathologists, the diagnosis of mammary carcinoma arising in ectopic breast tissue can be difficult, especially in the axilla, where carcinoma of adnexal origin must be excluded. We describe a 46-year-old woman who developed invasive (juvenile) secretory carcinoma in ectopic right axillary breast tissue and micrometastatic carcinoma in an ipsilateral axillary lymp

Low-grade adenosquamous carcinoma is a less frequent variant of metaplastic breast carcinoma, incidentally detected during screening and has an age distribution similar to other breast carcinomas. It shares characteristics with both benign and malignant carcinomas: its mammographic and sonographic features are therefore nonspecific. Breast conserving surgery with adjuvant radiation therapy is currently the preferred therapeutic approach. Metaplastic carcinomas of the breast are rare but are thought to be more aggressive than invasive ductal carcinomas. Treatment is instead extrapolated from other types of breast cancer or metaplastic carcinomas of different locations. Invasive papillary carcinomas of breast are rare tumors. They account for approximately 0.5% of all Invasive breast carcinomas. Invasive papillary carcinomas are commonly present in post-menopause women. These tumors lack the myoepithelial cell layer (MCL) within the papillae or at the periphery of the tumor. The diagnosis is difficult due to different clinical and radiological features. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is really essential to confirming the diagnosis.
