The purpose of this study was to describe the presence of uncertainty experienced by heart transplant recipients at one and two year diagnostic follow-up evaluations. Twelve one year and eleven two year transplant recipients completed the Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale (MUIS), prior to and after cardiac catheterization. There was a decrease in uncertainty levels from pre to post-catheterization, for both one and two year recipients, however, findings were not significant. Cardiac catheterizations are an essential procedure in the management of patients with congenital and acquired heart conditions. However, associated radiation doses are often high, raising concerns over potentially increased cancer risks. Neither the radiation doses, nor the associated risks, have been adequately investigated in young people undergoing these procedures. A cohort was established of around 13,500 patients aged under 22 years who have undergone cardiac catheterizations in England. Organ doses were estimated based on a dosimetry system utilising data from Monte Carlo simulations.

Red blood cells (RBC) have been shown to mediate plaque development seen in coronary artery disease (CAD). This study determined whether differences in RBC fatty acid (FA) composition were related to CAD risk. FAs were extracted from RBCs of 38 individuals who have undergone cardiac catheterization, 9 of whom had obstructive CAD, and analyzed via gas chromatography. The dependence of cardiac output measurement precision on ambient temperature and cardiac output stability was assessed by concurrent continuous and bolus thermodilution methods in postoperative cardiac surgery patients. The degree of agreement between the two methods was depended on room temperature (0.1 L/min for each degree below 25 degrees C). Diese sind die häufigsten Komplikationen nach Herzkatheteruntersuchungen überhaupt. Besonders berücksichtigt wurden multimorbide und sehr alte Patienten.
