Abstract:
This article serves as a review of the collective work edited by Rafał Łatka and Dominik Zamiatała, entitled “Prymas Stefan Wyszyński i Episkopat Polski” (“Primate Stefan Wyszyński and the Polish Episcopate”), published by the Warsaw Institute of National Remembrance in 2023 as part of the “Bishops in the Realities of the Communist state” series. The individual chapters of the work were discussed, presenting the most important themes covered in them, such as the complexities associated with the nomination of Cardinal Wyszyński as Primate of Poland, in accordance with the will of his predecessor—Cardinal August Hlond; the Primate’s concern about new bishop nominations; Cardinal Wyszyński’s skillful combination of the primate’s office with the function of the chairman of the episcopate; the Primate’s unifying openness to cooperation with individual bishops, especially with his own secretary, and then the Metropolitan of Poznań, Archbishop Antoni Baraniak, or the Metropolitan of Kraków, Karol Wojtyła; the Primate’s relations with hierarchs representing specific entities. Some shortcomings were also noted, such as the omission of Primate Wyszyński’s relations with two dioceses or the incomplete development of relations with the Kraków metropolis. Finally, reference was made to the critical edition of the last letter of Primate Wyszyński to John Paul II, included in the publication under discussion.

Abstract:
The article presents the subject of God’s love in Cardinal Wyszyński’s teaching. Primate Wyszyński puts God’s love at the very center of his theological thought. The theme of God’s love is discussed in seven sections: the first of them refers to the most famous words of Saint John’s “Deus Caritas est” (1 Jn 4:8,16), which are a short and brief definition of God; the second section develops Cardinal Wyszyński’s statement that there was a “time” in which only Love existed; the third section concerns the impartation of God’s love; fourth section describes the love of the Father; fifth section speaks of the greatest Love, which is the Incarnate Son of God, Jesus Christ; section six focuses on the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Love; the last section speaks of Mary, Mother of Beautiful Love. The whole ends with the summary. In his teachings on the love of God, Cardinal Wyszyński started with the inner life of the Triune God, with the Person of the Father, and then focuses on the salvific mission of the Son of God and the sanctifying action of the Holy Spirit. In this way, he appreciates both the category of God the Father and God as a Father full of love.

Striving for a synthetic view of the actuality and attractiveness of the Primate’s pedagogical thought, he draws attention to the following: What kind of man and teacher was Primate Stefan Wyszyński? How did he understand the essence of social-moral upbringing? Where are the roots of such an understanding of upbringing? What functions did he ascribe to it? Finally, what does he have to propose to contemporary theoreticians and practitioners of upbringing? The publication draws conclusions of a generalizable and applied nature.

Abstract:
The upcoming beatification date of the Primate of Poland, Fr. Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński becomes an excellent opportunity to bring closer not only his biography, but also extremely rich social teaching. By reference to the writings of Tadeusz Nowacki and Stefan Wyszyński, I attempt to compare their concepts and views on the matter. My considerations are delivered in three points. In the first point, relating to philosophy of history I reconstruct the idea of Nowacki on the development of work as a power creating a human and the reality around him. The second point presents Wyszyński’s views that relate human work to God’s intervention/activity/work. On that basis I proceed in the third part to the comparison of seemingly similar concepts of homo creator and “child of God.”

Mazanka, Paweł. "Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński – a man of dialogue." Kwartalnik Naukowy Fides et Ratio 46, no. 2 (2021): 341–56. http://dx.doi.org/10.34766/fetr.v46i2.863.

Abstract:
Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński was not only an “unbreakable Primate”, but above all, a man of dialogue. He was able to meet every person and to talk to them. In his conversations, he listened patiently, he did not impose his opinion and he was mostly trying to seek for common levels of agreement. According to him, the greatest wisdom is to be able to unite, not to divide.
The article indicates some sources and forms of this dialogue. It was a supernatural source and a natural one. The first one is a permanent dialogue of the Primate with God, as well as with the Blessed Mother and with saints. Cardinal Wyszyński was a man of deep prayer, and he undeniably took from this source strength for everyday meetings, conversations, and making decisions. The second crucial source was his philosophico-theological education. As a Christian personalist, the Primate took from the achievements of such thinkers as Aristotle, St. Thomas, St. Augustin, as well as J. Maritain, G. Marcel, J. Woroniecki, and W. Korniłowicz.
The article discusses some aspects of dialogue with people, taking into account, above all, two social groups: youth, and , and representatives of the communist state power. Presenting Cardinal Wyszyński as a man of dialogue seems to be very useful and topical nowadays because of different controversies and disputes occurring in our state, in our Church and in relationships between the older and the younger generation.

Abstract:
AbstractI would like to consider the Universe according to the standard Big Bang model, including various quantum models of its origin. In addition, using the theory of nonlinear dynamics, deterministic chaos, fractals, and multifractals I have proposed a new hypothesis, Macek (The Origin of the World: Cosmos or Chaos? Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) Scientific Editions, 2020). Namely, I have argued that a simple but possibly nonlinear law is important for the creation of the Cosmos at the extremely small Planck scale at which space and time originated. It is shown that by looking for order and harmony in the complex real world these modern studies give new insight into the most important philosophical issues beyond classical ontological principles, e.g., by providing a deeper understanding of the age-old philosophical dilemma (Leibniz, 1714): why does something exist instead of nothing? We also argue that this exciting question is a philosophical basis of matters that influence the meaning of human life in the vast Universe.

Abstract:
28 March 2023 is the day of the 659th anniversary of the consecration of the currentGothic Cathedral on Wawel Hill, dedicated to St. Stanislaus, bishop and martyr andSt. Wenceslaus. It is worth looking at this temple from a theological and historicalperspective. Only then can its walls, chapels, crypts, altars, royal sarcophagi, reliquaries, and commemorative marble plaques, witnesses to bygone centuries, “speak” to us.Only in this way can we feel a deep connection to God, the Church, and Poland in thisplace. Cardinal Karol Wojtyła taught us to look at Wawel Cathedral in this way as theMetropolitan Archbishop of Cracow from 1964 to 1978, and its “custodian.”The history of our country is inscribed in the walls of the Wawel Cathedral. Thetemple contains the tombs of almost all Polish rulers (17, including St. Jadwiga and Anna Jagiellon) – from Władysław I the Elbow-high to Stanisław Leszczyński. We canrealize that we are a nation with a history of over a thousand years, which has seendays of might and glory, as well as defeats. For people living centuries ago, buryingkings in the cathedral was not a reward or recognition of their merits, but a nationaltradition, as was the case with the burial of the royal couple – Casimir IV Jagiellon, the “King of Kings,” and his wife Elizabeth of Austria, the “Mother of Kings.” Thewalls of the royal cathedral on Wawel Hill are a “treasury” that preserves preciousand invaluable treasures. They have witnessed three reburials of monarchs in theirhistory. The first was the burial of King Casimir III the Great (1333-1370) on 8 July1869, the second was that of Queen Jadwiga of Poland (1384-1399) on 14 July 1949,and the third, 50 years ago, of the royal couple of Casimir IV Jagiellon and his wifeElizabeth of Austria on 18 October 1973. Cardinal Wojtyła was the organizer of thisceremony, presided over by Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, the Primate of Poland, whodelivered the sermon. Representatives of the Polish Episcopal Conference, clergy, andnumerous faithful also participated.

Abstract:
The aim of the study (poster) is primarily to present assumptions, current results and possible directions for further research and practices related to project implementation titled “Career guidance open to ecological awareness development of a society” [in Polish: Poradnictwo zawodowe otwarte na kształtowanie świadomości ekologicznej społeczeństwa] (FSS/2014/HEI/W/0032), financed with the Norwegian funds and domestic funds under the Polish Higher Education Development Programme [Program Rozwój Polskich Uczelni], Scholarship and Training Fund [Fundusz Stypendialny i Szkoleniowy], realized (1/1/2015 – 5/31/2016) at the Department of Pedagogical Sciences of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW). The analysis both literature and the currently undertaken research activities, among others, leads to the conclusions that there are at least three important tasks which modern higher education has to face. 1. The promotion of solutions, including educational ones, which aim at limiting the possible risks to human life (deterioration of its quality) resulting from the type of profession and work organization; 2. Active participation of vocational guidance consultants (present and future) in building sustainable and environmentally friendly societies. 3. The necessity of cooperation among local entities (including universities) involved in lifelong vocational guidance. In this context and with reference to the concept of “green” universities and the engaged university concept, the following question also becomes important: What is the role of higher education institutions in shaping pro-environmental attitudes and their capabilities in this respect?
