Full textThis work analyzes the need for information in poor communities. The investigation was conducted in the eleven communities that integrate Rosa Elze region, located at São Cristóvão municipality, in Sergipe state. The analyzed data was based on the opinion of seventy-five people, from which, 68 answered questionnaires and 7 were interviewed. The research aimed at showing how poor communities obtain information they need without having public facilities that provide information located near them. Having this in mind, not only was the fulfilment of the information´need observed but the way they were obtained was also verified. After that, the created demands were evaluated and the need for information was identified. The results of this research showed that: the poor communities at Grande Rosa Elze region are in need of information; the communities dwellers don´t have a public facility where they can require information when they need; The flow of information is poor as it only depends on social communication means and the region is technologically out-of-date, far from the digital era.In conlusion, we notice that Grande Rosa Elze region is a place where there is no flow of information due to the abscense of an information public policy. Therefore, it is imperative to set a public facility that provides not only some traditional printed information as well as some modern virtual one

Full textNutrient deficiencies are responsible for significant reductions of crop growth and yields. In order to reduce their negative impacts, it is important to detect those deficiencies as early as possible. Current methods include plant material collection and chemical analyses that may not provide deficiency detection within the time-window necessary for plant response to recovery fertilization. Reflectance and fluorescence are two methods associated with remote sensing. In this research project we evaluated the potential of reflectance and fluorescence to detect nutrient deficiencies in crops. To do so, we induced three nutrient deficiencies (N, K, Mg) on potato plants. The nitrogen deficiency significantly reduced crop growth contrary to K or Mg deficiencies. The potential of reflectance and fluorescence to detect nutrient deficiencies was related to growth reduction and it was easier to detect nitrogen deficiency than magnesium or potassium deficiencies. We also developed a nitrogen imbalance indicator based on the computation of the compositional nutrient diagnosis (CND). This indicator corresponds to a canonical variable including information coming from 24 reflectance and fluorescence indices. It allowed the detection of nearly 70% of nitrogen-imbalanced plants. Moreover, we also evaluated the impact of the angle of view and of veins density on the detection of nutrient deficiencies using fluorescence. The detection of nitrogen deficiencies was improved when the fluorometer was inclined and faced older leaves or leaves having a lower density of veins. The research project confirmed the potential of reflectance and fluorescence for the detection of nutrient deficiencies; it introduced a new nitrogen imbalance index integrating CND and remote sensing data; and it determined that a near-nadir angle of view was not well-suited for the detection of some specific nutrient deficiencies. This research project will help to improve crop yield in a sustainable management context.

Full textTwenty five percent of french suffer from activated sludge bulking. It induces an excessive growth of filamentous bacteria and can cause severe damages to the environment. In a first part, the influence of oxygen deficiencies on filamentous bacteria proliferation has been studied in wastewater treatment pilots plants. A sole period of oxygen deficiency only induces weak growth of filaments such as S. Natans, Thiothrix sp, Eikelboom type 021N or N. Limicola-like microorganisms. Accumulate stress periods seems to have a great impact on the filamentous bacteria proliferation. Repetition of identical stresses causes an amplification of filamentous bacteria response. The latter depends on stresses intensity, stresses application frequency and stresses number. Accumulate oxygen deficiencies led to the bulking of S. Natans and important developments of Thiothrix sp and Eikelboom type 021N. The second part deals with morphological transition of the bacterium Sphaerotilus. .

Full textThanks to its driving force in the Moroccan economy, the building sector acts as an effective impetus growth .Apart from the current consolidation ,it should further its development in the following years .Through a combination of several endogenous factors. All legal studies undertaken in MOROCCO up to now have just dealt with manufacturers contractual liability without considering their contractual liability not to mention its insurance. The present thesis tries to analyse the extra contractual liability within MOROCCAN LAW while comparing it with European legislations such as FRANCE, GREAT BRITAIN, GERMANY and SPAIN or African legislations ALGERIA TUNISIA and SENEGAL. This choice is primarily motivated by the current existence of significant conflicts between builders and the extra contractual property owners. One of its main objectives is to find out sound explanations to these conflicts in the game rules of builders liability set by Moroccan legislation. In terms of construction insurance, MOROCCO has finally elaborated the introduction of a compulsory insurance through the 59-13 law promulgated by Dahir 1.16.129 of 25th august 2016 amending and supplementing law 17.99 insurance code in B.O 6506 of 6th October 2016. Now this compulsory insurance system currently operational could be effective and satisfy the professionals aspirations if it draws lessons from previous experiences of other countries such as TUNISIA and FRANCE

Full textIn the context of climate change and recent regulation concerning nitrogen inputs, the oilseed rape yields may be severely decreased because its crop requires significant nitrogen supply to reach high yield performance. Moreover, as water deficit induces the accumulation of some nitrogen compounds in oilseed rape, it is likely that this could lead to diversion of significant amounts of nitrogen to the vegetative organs at the expense of the reproductive ones and therefore of the yield. In oilseed rape, the metabolic response to water deficit results in a very high proline accumulation and, to a lesser extent, an increased content of GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid), both these amino acids known for their response to many environmental stresses in most species. The objective of the work presented here was to determine how the metabolism of proline and GABA contributes to the nitrogen allocation during plant development under optimal conditions and under water stress and/or nitrogen depletion. To answer this question, we have chosen to characterize two major enzymatic pathways involved in the catabolism of proline and GABA, proline dehydrogenase (ProDH) and GABA transaminase (GABA-T), and assess the impact of water and/or nitrogen deficiency on these pathways. This study has required to preliminary identify the genes encoding these enzymes in order to initiate a functional approach. The results show the presence of multiple copies of ProDH and GABA-T genes in the oilseed rape genome. Analysis of their expression profiles suggests that sub-functionalization processes are occurring, leading to the specific expression of some copies in response to stress, and some in developmental processes. Comparison of metabolic profiles with specific profiles of transcripts allows us to hypothesize about the role of these pathways in management of nitrogen. The combined study of proline and GABA metabolisms suggests the existence of relationships between them. Finally, the use of seedlings allows - further studying the regulation of genes in the early stages of development - and highlighting the deleterious effects of the inhibition of GABA-T by a pharmacological approach. In conclusion these results supply information on the regulation of these two enzymes and provide answers about the functional roles of proline and GABA catabolisms in the management processes of water and nitrogen in oilseed rape. These works constitute a first step in validation process of these genes as putative candidates for oilseed rape breeding programs to select genotypes better adapted to future environmental conditions

Full textYeast cell death can occur during wine alcoholic fermentation and lead to sluggish or stuck fermentations. The mechanisms underlying cell death during yeast starvation in alcoholic fermentations remain unclear. In this work we addressed yeast cell death using conceptual framework from ageing studies showing that yeast resistance to starvation can be influenced by the nature of the nutrient limiting cell growth. We examined cell death occurrence considering yeast cells ability to elicit an appropriate response to a set of nutrient limitations. We showed that several micronutrients limitations (oleic acid, ergosterol, pantothenic acid and nicotinic acid) trigger cell death in a nitrogen-dependent manner. We provide evidence that the nitrogen Tor/Sch9 signaling pathway is involved in triggering cell death. In such conditions, yeast cells fail to acquire stress resistance given a restriction at a post-transcriptional level. We have examined the ability of different nitrogen sources to trigger cell death showing that they impact differentially on cell death and that NH4+ had a strong death inducing capacity. Finally, the QTL approaches allowed the mapping of a set of loci controlling cell death under oleic acid and pantothenic acid starvation that are consistent with a multigenic control. 3 QTL regions appeared to be common to these two limitations which suggests some common control of the yeast survival in these two nutrient-limited situations

Full textOur research examined the social and cognitive development of adolescents placed in institutions, more specifically on the subject’s aptitude of moral judgement. Their moral values were studied through the narration of moral dilemmas using Piaget’s clinical interview methods. The results were analysed in relation to the quality of the individual’s social and family interactions, in relation to whether or not they had been victims of abuse before their placement and whether or not they commit delinquent activities. Almost the entire group of subjects interviewed demonstrated a developmental delay in moral judgement in terms of dominant moral heteronomy. The results were examined in relation to the structural and functional cognitive activity of the subject. In addition their personal history, motivation, emotions, personality profile, neurotoxic substance consumption, psychological trauma, and resilience factors were taken into account. The underdeveloped subjects show a low level of moral heteronomy, for some it is even anomic, characterized by a figurative way of thinking and sometimes asocial and violent behaviour. The age of placement is a critical element in the subject’s developmental trajectory. Their place among their peers is that of a “follower” or “executer”. Normally developed subjects were both more social and implicated in their education or delinquent leaders. These individuals put their cognitive skills to use in their delinquent activities. In conclusion, we suggest psychological care, especially with cognitive remediation and post-traumatic care

Full textMitochondria form an information hub at the center of the cellular metabolism because of its physiological role consisting in the porduction of ATP from the degradation of porducts stemming from our food through the OXPHOS process. However, changes in the functionnig of the mitochondria can be responsible for numerous diseases. Among the different foms of metabolic stress leading to mitchondrial dysfunctions, ischemia-reperfusion can be found in numerous pathological situations. This work aims at developing a methodological approach based on confocal microscopy and image analysis to dissect –at cell level- the consequences of metabolic stress induced by episodes of deprivation in substrata associated or not with hypoxia or anoxia. Having developed the program of image analysis based on the « tophat » method, two approaches were designed to vizualize and quantify the mitochondrial function. The first one, combining TMRM labelling with NADH fluorescence made it possible to highlight some differences in the response to the stress caused by ischemia-reperfusion at the level of the respiratory chain or concerning the PTP opening in the four cellular types that were tested : HMEC-1, INS1, RT112 or pirmary heaptocyes. The second approach consisted in testing the use of biosensors designed to follow the variations of ATP concentration (ATeam) or the activation of AMPK (AMPKAR). The experimental conditions established in this work did not allow us to validate their use

Full textThe aim of this work is to study the effects of a situation of early and lasting affective deficiency upon the intellectual and affective investment in a population of maroccan children aged from 11 to 12 years, abandoned not long after their birth and set in an institutional circle. The situation of affective deficiency is made objective in this context on the one hand, by the lasting absence of parental figures (and essentially the motherly figure), or of a stable and structuring substitute, and on the other hand, by the unfavorable institional circle characterized by the poverty and multiplicity of the assumed responsability which maintains this situation and makes difficult the setting up of stable affective links a substitute figure. This multi-dimensional approach of the effects of the affective deficiency regroup the use of a projective technique (the p. N test), of a graphic test (the draw-a man test), and finally of an evaluation test of the "intellectual abilities" (the w. I. S. C). Those tests have been proposed to 23 abandoned children living in an institution, as well as to a group of 25 children living in a family circle, this last group being used as a reference in a comparative prospect. Three types of analyses have been carried out. The first tends to evaluate "the intellectual abilities" in order to estimate the effects of the affective deficiency upon the intellectual investment. The second analysis deals with the study of "the ways of expression of the deficiency" as well as of the "reaction" to the deficiency lived trough. The third analysis tends to consider through a graphic expresion (the draw a man test) the mode of elaboration of the "self-image" and of the relation with others. The junction of a clinical and experimental prospect allows to seize in these subjects the influences of the affective deficiencies upon theirs ways of intellectual development and of affective structuration

Full textBiochemical, cytological and molecular methods have been used to study autophagy, a catabolic process by which cells degrade parts of their own cytoplasm. Autophagy was induced in Arabidopsis thaliana and Vigna unguiculata suspension-cultured cells by carbon starvation. Quantification of autophagy-related structures (autophagosomes and pre-autophagosomat structures) shows that cells respond to the stress signal by a rapid and massive burst of autophagic activity. It is shown that the autophagy-related genes AtATG3, AtATG4a, AtATG4b, AtATG7 and AtATG8a-i, involved in the ATG8 ubiquitination-like conjugation pathway, are up-regulated in a coordinated manner at the onset of starvation. They are expressed in successive waves that parallel the biochemical and cytological remodeling that takes place. A preliminary pharmacological approach suggests that the TOR (target of rapamycin) pathway can play an important role in autophagy signalling

Full textThe present work focus on the impact of emotional defiencies and early relational traumas on mentalization processes and parental imagos formation abilities of intellectually impaired children. This Ph.D thesis was funded by a CIFRE grant, allowing for a synergic interplay between my work within the INTERPSY research unit, and my work as a clinical psychologist in a medico-educational institute From a method point, we have compared 20 children, aged 6 to 14 years with intellectual disabilities to children scholarized in regular schools. We have chosen to explore this research topic through both a qualitative and quantitative angle, by combining the psychological accompaniments within the framework of my work as a clinical psychologist, with the detailed statistical analysis of our data. On a technical level, we have opted for the complementary use of a psychometric test (WISC-IV) as well as two projective tests : the Rorschach and the the Tales’test. Our results show a significant impact of early relational traumas and emotionnal deficiencies on mentalization and parental imagos formation abilities. In addition, our observations show that children belonging to the clinical group are more likely to exhibit fragilities related to the construction of a gender and sexual identity than children belonging to the control group. Results allow us to highlight the processes and mechanisms involved in the psychological construction of intellectually impaired children who have experienced emotional deficits and early relational traumas. This research work also allows us to understand in which way the construction of intellectually impaired children can be altered by psychic traumas experienced and what are the impacts on the psycho-affective development of the latter

Full textFolate (vitamin B9) and vitamin B12 act as cofactors in the one-carbon metabolism that regulates transmethylation reactions involved in epigenetic mechanisms. A deficiency in folate and/or B12 decreases the generation of methionine from homocysteine, a toxic amino acid that has been associated with pathologies of the central nervous system at all ages (spina bifida, Alzheimer's disease…). In order to depict the cellular and molecular mechanisms implicated in the response to the deficiency in these micronutrients, two new cell models have been developed. Thus, we have analyzed the effects of folate deficiency on proliferation, differentiation and neuroplasticity of neuronal progenitors obtained from the hippocampus of rat embryos, i.e. the H19-7 cell line. Regarding the second model, we designed an original approach by stable transfection of NIE-115 murine neuroblastoma cells to impose the anchorage of a chimeric B12 binding protein, transcobalaminoleosin (TO) to intracellular membrane in order to produce intracellular sequestration of B12. Taken together, our results have shown that deficiency-associated alterations of the one-carbon metabolism lead to reduced neurogenesis and to dramatic impairment of neuron differentiation. This suggests the existence of specific mechanisms through which vitamin B9/B12 deficiency and/or homocysteine may affect brain functioning and plasticity

Commercial pollination in lowbush blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium Ait.) and cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Ait.) crops benefit the presence of honey bee (Apis mellifera L.) for pollination and this pollination service represents 27% of the revenues from all seasonal beekeeping activities in Quebec (Canada). While providing such services, honey bees are often exposed to undiversified pollen sources that may contribute to nutritional deficiencies. In this study, we investigated four beekeeping management strategies (MS) and measured their impact on honey bee colony health and development. Experimental groups were: A) Control farmland honey producing MS (control MS); B) Blueberry pollination MS (blueberry MS); C) Cranberry pollination MS (cranberry MS) and D) Double pollination MS, blueberry followed by cranberry (double MS). Our objectives were to 1) monitor honey bee colonies during one year in different situations (according to the MS) 2) compare floral abundance and attractiveness of foraging areas to honey bees between apiaries using a Geographic Information System and harvested pollen, 3) analyze the protein and essential amino acid content of collected and stored pollen (bee bread) and measure the nutritional impact of pollination services on honey bee colonies and 4) compare honey bee colony health status and population development between MS during a complete beekeeping season. Our study reveals that honey bees providing blueberry and/or cranberry pollination services are exposed to a less diversified pollen diet than colonies located in a rich farmland environment. This was especially true for the cranberry crop environment. There was a significantly lower proportion of crude protein content in the pollen collected and stored by honey bees during provision of blueberry pollination services, which led to a smaller brood population. Regarding essential amino acids, many deficiencies were measured, however these were not always related to the management strategy. Globally, various essential amino acid deficiencies (harvested pollen or bee bread) were present at all three apiaries and four management strategies. The double MS significantly reduced colony weight gain, pollen harvest and brood population, and induced a significantly higher winter mortality rate. We also found significantly higher levels of Black queen cell virus, Sacbrood virus and Nosema ceranae in the double MS.
