Full textThe significant development of telecommunication, due to the conception and the deployment of wireless networks always more efficient in term of subscribers’capacity and transmission bit rate, shows a real need of our current society. Thus, the systems planed in order to conform to the new requirements have to work in environments more and more complex (indoor and/or dense urban environments). Nevertheless, these kind of environments present the constraint to generate a wave propagation through a multi-path mecanism. This phenomenon induce, during a numerical transmission, some risks about inter-symbols interferences, a great loose of power reception, etc. . . In order to overcome this drawback, a concept wich exploits the spatial diversity of the radio channel and using both antennae at transmitter and receivers’side (ie. MIMO : ”Multiple Input Multiple Output”) was developed. This last one allows, in a context of personal and metropolitan networks, to conform to the demands of subscribers in term of speed and quality of numerical communication. As a consequence, the transmission channel become the central element and the analysis of these properties is an important stake and an active research subject. This thesis is part of a collaboration between the Department of SIC-XLIM of the University of Poitiers and the Department of Micro-waves of Telecom Bretagne (Brest). His aim is double and concern – in one hand, the influence of environment modeling in MIMO channel caracterization by the intermediary of a propagation simulator using a 3D ray-tracing. More precisely, this work focus on the geometrical description and to a lesser extent on the influence of electrical properties of materials ; – in other hand, the matter of the coupling between antennae, produced by their nearness. The modeling of these last ones, coming from previous investigations made by the Micro-wave department, is firstly reminded. Secondly it is applied to results obtained by a ray approch. Finally, the modeling of mutual coupling beween antennae is improved in order to include fully the polarization properties of antennae. This study is extended to the Ultra Wide Band (UWB) context for which high bit rates is considered. This ultimate step allows to evaluate the beneficts and limitations of the antennae modeling developed in order to give some possible perspectives to this thesis work

Full textCarles Gumersind Vidiella i Estevan (Arenys de Mar, 1856 – Barcelona, 19159 is one of the most prominent Catalan pianists and pedagogues of the turn of the XIXth to the XXth centuries. This PhD dissertation has the objective to fill the research gap on the so-called escola catalana de piano (Catalan Piano School). Vidiella is the promoter of the School founded by Pere Tintorer and followed by Pujol, which was later expanded by his pupils in Latin America. The dissertation shows the existence and relevance of the Piano School the master founded in Barcelona. Moreover, Vidiella’s subtle pianism inspired the works of poets like Joan Maragall and plastic artists like Ramon Casas, among others. This PhD dissertation is structured into four parts. The first part consists in the Introduction and Chapter I. While the Introduction deals with the object of study and the objectives of the thesis, Chapter I focuses on the research design, particularly on the documental sources of information. The second part contains the body of the dissertation and is subdivided into four chapters. Chapter II deals with the biography of Vidiella as well as the influence of the cultural context in which he lived. Chapter III tackles his piano education and the pedagogical features of his masters: Joan Baptista Pujol in Barcelona and Antoine-François Marmontel in Paris. Chapter IV is devoted to Vidiella’s career as a concert pianist, which had a strong impact in the Barcelona cultural scene. Indeed, Vidiella contributed to a great extent to the diffusion of the works of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms or Chopin in the city, as well as of pieces by Catalan composers. Chapter V provides an account of Vidiella as a pedagogue, showing his main teaching guidelines and the activity of his most outstanding pupils, like Carlota Giró, founder of the Escola Vidiella (Vidiella School). The third part draws conclusions of the dissertation and contends that Vidiella founded a Piano school whose distinctive nature has survived until the present, assessing its future perspective. The forth part gathers the bibliography and an extensive list of annexes with unknown documental and graphic materials.

Abstract : The purpose of this article is to examine the work of the Uruguayan writer Carlos Liscano, especially in characterizing the writing process and in viewing literature as an art of reflection. Mainly his writings from prison are studied, considering that a substantial part of the work was written while the author was a political prisoner in a military prison, where he remained for approximately thirteen years, during the dictatorship in the 1970s and 1980s in Uruguay. Therefore, the imprisonment and the circumstances of that historic moment cannot be dissociated from the composition process of his writings. However, his earlier texts, although created while in confinement, problems of a philosophical, critical, and theoretical nature regarding literature and on those asked about his writing took shape. This resulted in a unique work, considering his creative process as a prisoner, with few, sparse references. The idea presented here is that Liscano, with the books available in the prison library, while writing his first works, even though these point to various thoughts from different times, utilized themes of reflection and irony in a way that allowed for an anachronistic dialog with the earlier German Romanticism. Readings of German Romanticism and the traces of it in the literature read by the Uruguayan writer in prison triggered thoughts, which his work theorizes and criticizes inwardly, about the work on reflection and irony, which permeate the whole of his work. Reflection shows up as a literary process, construct, and operation in the writings of Liscano, in which art is posited as the core of this reflection. At the same time, irony is implied to be a constitutive and operational part of his literature, whether to destabilize the discourse, or to imply ambiguity in the thoughts and the thinker. Likewise, in Liscano, the fragmented nature of writing is discussed, as a narrative and discursive resource, as well as an enhancement of the limitless vastness of thought, or even as a characterization of the notions of gender. Therefore, considering the wide range of projects to be read, this work proposes a series of thematic and historical communication splits in visualizing the scope of the literature, with its intrinsic possibility for dialog with multiple periods. In this way, the work investigates the writing of Liscano with the Benjaminian notion of the leap, a movement the text makes in the direction of what is new, creating its own prehistory and post-history.

Full textThe present thesis project, located in the city of Huancayo, is the result of the search for an order and improvement of a city imprisoned by informality, centralism and insecurity. After an urban analysis, it was concluded that the greatest point of insecurity and informality is precisely the center of the city, where more than five different markets are located within a radius of half a kilometer. All this occurs less than one kilometer from the historic center of the city, leading to poor accessibility, scanty security and low attractiveness over a city as wonderful as the undeniable Huancayo. It is for these reasons, that the decision was made to propose a market, far enough from the center to decongest it from the chaos generated by the different markets that currently operate there, but without losing sight of the large number of users who use this equipment. Considering the previous points, we searched for the most underserved area of the city and with the greatest potential; San Carlos, is undoubtedly a neighborhood that has grown to the point of almost becoming a district. At present there is no formal market that supplies this area, nor a great equipment or public space that generates an adequate coexistence among citizens. The "Market San Carlos" project proposes an order, a better animation in the area, greater security and a coexistence that improves the quality of life of the inhabitants.

Full textThe aim of this work has been deepening in the figure of Carles Casagemas Coll in order to fill the current void on the artist and to provide an initial benchmark study that can help to better understand one of the most enigmatic historiographic figures of Catalan Art in the late nineteenth century. Possessor of a great artistic sensitivity, he could develop it thanks to several factors: the wealthy position of his family; linking his father with leading cultural circles of the time, as the Liceu and the Ateneu Barcelones; the two art references that he met in his learning period, Modest Urgell and Isidre Nonell; the fact that he became part of the circle of Els Quatre Gats, his relationship with Picasso; and the remarkable friendship with Ramon Reventós demonstrated by preserved correspondence. His sensitivity, however, was not just artistic. The trip to Paris in the autumn of 1900 on the occasion of the Universal Exposition make him undoubtedly experience what conclusively determined the course of his life. He met there Germaine Gargallo with whom lived an unfortunate loving journey that lead him into suicide, and therefore, the sudden interruption of his career, which deeply impacted his friend Picasso. The body of the thesis consists of two main areas; Carles Casagemas’ life and work. In the first part, it tracks all the usual biography drivers: family, education, social context and friend circle, among others. In the second part, a catalogue of his artwork is included, with an approach on the technique analysis, made from physical and detailed inspection of his art pieces; followed by a stylistic analysis in which it is introduced main influences received, who were his artistic references and the leading art models of his training style. The methodology used for developing the thesis has had multiple approaches: extensive documentation research, analysis and interpretation of it, comparing and contrasting it with the existing one and the inclusion of all the necessary to achieve the goal. It has also sought the location of the maximum number of artwork pieces to analyze the technical and stylistic and a proposal of art catalogue as much complete as possible. Collected artwork pieces listed in this document show, despite his short career, how Casagemas played a mastery of painting technique and that he had great skill in the use of different types of pictorial materials. All these knowledge and skills had been put into his service and made creative act became his primary means of expression.
