ABSTRACT The butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea) contains antioxidants that help combat premature skin aging. Peel-off masks are popular with consumers as topical formulations because they are unique and practical. An essential component of peel-off masks is the gelling agent Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA), which acts as a film-forming agent. However, PVA at the wrong concentration can result poor mask physical properties. Combining PVA with other gelling agents can obtain peel-off masks with better physical properties. This study aims to identify the effect of PVA and iota carrageenan on the op

In the current study, nanocomposites were prepared by combining 𝑘-carrageenan, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and doped nanoparticles (Magnesium oxide) MgO, (Magnesium Zinc oxide) MgZnO 1%, MgZnO 3%, and MgZnO 5%. The nanoparticles were synthesized by a sol–gel method and mixed with a mixture of 𝑘-carrageenan/PVA (Ca/PVA) in various ratios. The structure of the composites was analyzed using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The Ca/PVA mixture was then mixed with nanoparticles and loaded with active ingredient, catechin. Sca

Industrial textile wastewater containing both heavy metals and dyes has been massively produced. In this study, semi-interpenetrating polymer network structures of sodium alginate (SA)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/κ-carrageenan (CG) aerogel beads were synthesized for their simultaneous reduction. The SA/PVA/CG aerogel beads were synthesized through a cost-effective and environmentally friendly method using naturally abundant biopolymers without toxic cross-linkers. Abstract Bioplastic should have the capability to dissolve in water and decompose in soil. However, bioplastics sold in the market need time to release their natural ingredients in water and soil. While bioplastics were made by mixing organic and inorganic materials to enhance their durability, they also increase the difficulty of decomposing in soil and water. Composite Bioplastic from carrageenan, Poly Vinyl Alcohol, and adding TiO2 must be researched to ensure bioplastic and its composites are easily assimilated with microorganisms in water and soil. Abstract For the high content of carrageenan in some seaweed and the low cost and easy availability of semi refined carrageenan (SRC), SRC resin powder was selected as our research object. Due to its water solubility, a solution casting method was adopted to form film, hoping to prepare food packaging materials that partially replace petroleum based resin. The pure SRC resin casting film is very brittle and cannot be formed. Therefore, 40wt% glycerol was added to the formula to plasticize and improve the flexibility and demoulding ability of SRC. The plasticized SRC film still has limitations.

This chapter reports the determination of eco-friendly, bio degradable polymer composite film by amalgamation of an edible, water soluble polysaccharide named as Carrageenan and based on PVA (polyvinyl alcohol). Polymers are macromolecules with long repeating chains of monomers made by the process of polymerization. Polymers possess multi-functionality and better film-forming capabilities, which could significantly improve protective barrier properties. Natural polymers are one among the major classes of polymers based on their origin. This class includes proteins, cellulose, poly peptides, an
