Shifts in system constraints including reduced available bandwidth and increased throughput demands have caused many in the field to reevaluate traditional methods and design practices. However, implementation of MIMO-OFDM suffers from the problem caused by carrier synchronization. This thesis will address two performance degrading effects of carrier synchronization, namely, I/Q imbalance and Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO). The I/Q imbalance is caused by the mismatch between the I and Q branches and the CFO is caused by the mismatch of radio frequency circuits between the transmitter and receiver.

碩士
國立臺灣大學
電信工程學研究所
93
We investigate multiuser synchronization problems fundamentally by using maximum likelihood estimation techniques. In particular, we put most efforts on multiuser carrier frequency offset estimation. Due to the special contour shape of ML estimation metric function, a two-stage estimation method including DFT coarse search and neighborhood search is described in single-user case and extended to multiuser case. We discuss multiple-access interference (MAI) in the presence of carrier frequency offset. From the maximum likelihood viewpoints, we suggest the succes

An efficient blind channel identification and synchronization method is introduced here for equalization and synchronization in single carrier block transmission system by means of subspace algorithm. The channel impulse response (CIR) is acquired from Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) of the auto-correlation matrix by observing a small amount of data records. We also demonstrate the necessary and sufficient condition of subspace algorithm to proof the C

A well-known problem in OFDM systems is the synchronization issues, including both timing shift and frequency offset. Carrier frequency offset (CFO) and symbol time offset can cause intersymbol (ISI) and intercarrier interference (ICI) and degrade system performance seriously. For this reason, how to correctly estimate carrier frequency offset and time offset in the receiver end of OFDM systems is a crucial mission. In this the
