The endwall effect has a great impact on the aerodynamic performance of compressor blades. Based on three conventional near-endwall blade modeling methods of bowed blade, endbend blade and leading-edge strake blade (LESB), two combined optimization design methods of highly loaded blades have been developed considering the endwall effect in the current study, i.e., the bowed blade combined with the LESB (bowed LESB blade) and the endbend blade combined with the LESB (endbend LESB blade). Optimization designs were conducted for a compressor cascade with low solidity by using the two combined mod

The intensity of diffuse cascade gamma-ray emission produced in electromagnetic cascades when ultra-high energy cosmic rays propagate in extragalactic space is discussed. It is obtained that in the range of ~107—109 eV diffuse cascade gamma-ray spectra weakly depends on extragalactic magnetic field value. Thus, there is no need to refine extragalactic magnetic field models to estimate the intensity of cascade emission in this energy range.

We study the distribution of the maximum M of multifractal measures using discrete cascade representations. For such discrete cascades, the exact distribution of M can be found numerically. We evaluate the sensitivity of the distribution of M to simplifying approximations, including independence of the measure among the cascade tiles and replacement of the dressing factor by a random variable with the same distribution type as the cascade generator. We also examine how the distribution of M varies with the dimensionality of the support and the multiplicity of the cascade. Of these factors, dep

Aerodynamic efficiency of the nozzle cascades of steam and gas turbines is defined by many factors and one of them is the tangential and radial nonuniformity degree of the parameters of a spatial flow behind the cascades. The averaging of these parameters enables the determination of the integral parameters of the cascades, in particular two flow angles and the velocity angle or the kinetic energy loss coefficient. The angle that takes into account the level of the averaged radial component of the velocity defines the level of kinematic losses in the cascade. Even in the case of the cylindric

Abstract:
The research problem: The detection of pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) by plant pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) is a key mechanism by which plants activate an effective immune response against pathogen attack. MAPK cascades are important signaling components downstream of PRRs that transduce the PAMP signal to activate various defense responses. Preliminary experiments suggested that the receptor-like cytoplasmickinase (RLCK) Mai5 plays a positive role in pattern-triggered immunity (PTI) and interacts with the MAPKKK M3Kε. We thus hypothesized that Mai5, as other RLCKs, fun

Abstract:
Drought and other abiotic stresses have major negative effects on agricultural productivity. The plant hormone abscisic acid (ABA) regulates many responses to environmental stresses and can be used to improve crop performance under stress. ABA levels rise in response to diverse abiotic stresses to coordinate physiological and metabolic responses that help plants survive stressful environments. In all land plants, ABA receptors are responsible for initiating a signaling cascade that leads to stomata closure, growth arrest and large-scale changes in transcript levels required for stress toleranc

Abstract:
This paper analyzes sub-national revenues in Argentina. Following a discussion of the recent evolution of government revenues and their vertical imbalance, the paper then analyzes the most important taxes collected by federal, provincial and local governments. Subsequently considered are the determinants of sub-national revenues and the impact of the 2001-2002 crisis. It is found that automatic transfers improve collections of the cascade sales tax and the property tax by enlarging the disposable income of the private and public sector of the provinces favored by the regional redistribution of

Abstract:
The necessity to improve broiler thermotolerance and live performance led to the following hypothesis: Appropriate comprehensive incubation treatments that include significant temperature management changes will promote angiogenesis and will improve acquisition of thermotolerance and carcass quality of heavy broilers through epigenetic adaptation. It was based on the following questions: 1. Can TM during embryogenesis of broilers induce a longer-lasting thermoregulatory memory (up to marketing age of 10 wk) that will improve acquisition of thermotolerance as well as increased breast meat yield

Abstract:
Background. Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a common, chronic, and impairing psychiatric disorder that often begins in childhood or adolescence. Early identification and treatment of OCD is important to prevent a cascade of developmental disruptions lasting into adulthood. The 2012 American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) Practice Parameter recommends cognitive behavioral therapy that incorporates exposure and response prevention (ERP) as a first-line treatment for mild-to-moderate OCD in youth and recommends combined treatment with ERP (if feasible) and a selective s
