Abstract:
A company’s sustainability is generally determined by whether it is able to create a positive long-term cash flow. This paper investigates whether the predictive ability of cash flows and earnings in forecasting future cash flows differs depending on the foreign investors’ ownership. Based on firms listed in the Korea Stock Exchange market from 2000 to 2017, we find that earnings and cash flow components of financial statements enhance the predictability of future cash flow in the Korean stock market. Conversely, foreign investors showed a tendency to decide on investments based on operating c

Abstract:
Abstract Understanding the corrosion mechanisms prevailing in wet sour gas is the key step in monitoring corrosion. Important parameters contributing to corrosion are pressure, temperature, CO2 and H2S contents, chloride level, elemental sulfur, and fluid flow behavior. General corrosion tends to be very low due to the formation of iron sulfides but isolated pitting rate can be extremely high when the protective scales break down. Common pitfalls in corrosion monitoring are presented. Different intrusive and non-intrusive monitoring devices are highlighted. Successful detection of isolated pit

Abstract This paper details the challenges encountered in successfully treating this 45-year-old low- and high-pressure very sour gas gathering system in North Dakota. The existing gathering system has been owned and operated by several companies over the lifetime of the piping, and corrosion mitigation was not always a concern to each owner. Much of the low-pressure system was designed and installed in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Access points for monitoring and treating corrosion were not considered in the design and construction process. A result is that the lines have severe, localized

A classical approach to the assessment of the available water resources for different users, including environmental, in Europe is the Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy (CAMS). An assessment has to be made of the extent, to which natural runoff regime could be changed without affecting the sustainable functioning of the environment. The aim of the Restoring Sustainable Abstraction (RSA) is to identify over-abstraction in rivers and wetland sites and make the abstraction sustainable again. In this regard, the report presents an innovative approach for the integrated assessment and manag

Abstract Traditional solution for oil and gas production equipment is the use of carbon steel (CS) due to its reduced cost, compared to more noble and corrosion resistant materials. To ensure the integrity of these equipment, the use of carbon steel needs to be accompanied by corrosion mitigation measures, like the use of Corrosion Inhibitors (CI). In the present context with more and more constraining environmental requirements and with the increase of water cut, the use of corrosion inhibitors become challenging. An optimized use of these chemicals is necessary to limit as much as possible,

This paper studies the separation of ownership and control of 108 listed companies in Colombia from 1996 to 2002, finding that voting rights are greater than cash flow rights because of indirect ownership across firms. The paper also examines the association of various ownership and control measures and separation ratios with a firms value and performance for the same sample of companies that traded their stock from 1998 to 2002. Large blockholders were found to exert a positive influence upon a firms valuation and performance, which validates the positive monitoring approach of large sharehol

The proliferation of continuous streamflow monitoring and spatial data suitable for hydraulic modeling is increasing opportunities to use hydraulic habitat analysis to inform ecological models. However, species population and streamflow data exhibit high variability, making it challenging to identify hydrologic and hydraulic metrics that effectively correlate with ecological outcomes. Metric selection presents a challenge for informing environmental flow decisions and adaptive management of water infrastructure. To date, one of the most important tasks of the State in ensuring the sustainable socio-economic and demographic development of the country is the regulation of migration processes. In the Republic of Bashkortostan in recent years there has been an increase in the number of people participating in both intraregional and extra-regional migration, which indicates the need to manage migration flows for the effective development of territories of this entity. In this connection, this article is dedicated to the development of GIS monitoring of the attractiveness of municipalities of the Republic o

The Northwest Tropical Atlantic Station (NTAS) was established to address the need for accurate air-sea flux estimates and upper ocean measurements in a region with strong sea surface temperature anomalies and the likelihood of significant local air–sea interaction on interannual to decadal timescales. The approach is to maintain a surface mooring outfitted for meteorological and oceanographic measurements at a site near 15°N, 51°W by successive mooring turnarounds. These observations are used to investigate air–sea interaction processes related to climate variability. The NTAS Ocean Reference

In road mitigation systems characterized by multiple wildlife crossing structures (CS) and multiple-focal species, these species-specific design criteria are important to meeting management goals. CS types and locations are fixed in place and cannot be manipulated experimentally; long term studies may offer the best chance to inform evidence-based designs for new CS projects in the future. Long-term data from Banff National Park are uniquely posed to answer these critical questions.
