Abstract:
En este artículo presentamos una panorámica de la novela juvenil de autoría femenina escrita en lengua catalana y publicada en el siglo XXI. Citaremosescritoras que componen novelas de marcado carácter realista, en los que aparecen temas relacionados con el amor y los conflictos personales y sociales, y novelas fantásticas, en las que también caben las de ciencia-ficción. El recorrido presentado nos permite hablar del excelente estado de salud que en el siglo XXI goza este tipo de literatura, si consideramos la cantidad y calidad de las obras a las que nos referiremos. In this article we present an overview of the youth novel of female authorship written in Catalan and published in the 21st century. We will cite writers who compose novels of marked realistic character, in which it appear topics related to love and personal and social conflicts, and fantastic novels, whichalso fit science fiction. The presentation allows us to talk about the excellent state of health that this type of literature enjoys in the 21st century, if we consider the quantity and quality of the referred Works.

Resum: La Transició (1975-1982) constitueix un període històric controvertit. En els darrers anys, arran del moviment 15-M, s’han revifat a l’Estat espanyol les veus critiques amb el relat oficial. En l’àmbit valencià existeix un corpus de novel·les considerable que aporta informació rellevant sobre la manera com s’ha construït la memòria de la Transició valenciana. La distància existent entre l’actualitat i els anys en què se situen els fets, així com el desconeixement de les noves generacions sobre el tema, permet que aquestes novel·les puguen ser considerades, en un sentit amplei com a novel·les històriques, al mateix nivell que les ambientades en la Guerra Civil i la postguerra. Paraules clau: novel·la històrica, literatura catalana, País Valencià, Transició. .Abstract: The Spanish Transition (1975-1982) is a controversial historical period. In recent years, following the 15-M movement, we have witnessed in Spain a revival of voices critical of the official narrative. In the Valencian area there is a considerable corpus of novels that provide relevant information on the way how the memory of the Valencian Transition has been built. The distance existing between the present and the years in which the facts took place, as well as the ignorance of the new generations on the subject, allows us to consider these novels, in a broad sense, as historical novels, at the same level as those set in the Civil War and the post-war period.Keywords: historical novel, catalan literature, Spanish Transition, Valencia.

Resum: L’escriptor valencià Víctor Labrado (Sueca, 1956) s’ha erigit com un dels grans referents contemporanis en el camp de la novel·la de no-ficció en català, subgènere narratiu que conjumina la intenció metanovel·lesca amb fidedignes discursos testimonials. Ara bé, ¿les obres cabdals de Labrado –peculiars, idiosincràtiques i gens usuals– poden ser considerades també, sense subterfugis ni matisos, novel·la històrica? A grans trets: trames guerracivilistes empeltades d’entrevistes, dosis generoses de periodisme documental i absència gairebé absoluta de ficció. La tècnica i l’estil propi no suposen, però, cap impediment perquè molts llibres seus siguen alhora novel·la històrica, si fem cas dels topoi convinguts per la crítica especialitzada. No debades, aquests exemplars esdevenen, al capdavall, testimoni viu d’un temps passat; vivències i peripècies de gent anònima que rescaten de l’oblit, des de la particularitat més universal, la realitat valenciana d’un segle passat vilment estigmatitzat pel conflicte civil de l’any 1936 i la dictadura consegüent. ¿N’hi ha prou amb això, però, perquè aquesta etiqueta o clixé siga atribuïble també a la resta de la seua obra i trajectòria? El present article analitza a nivell tècnic, argumental i conceptual els llibres essencials de Labrado per tal de determinar quina part de la seua novel·lística sense ficció pot o no considerar-se al seu torn novel·la històrica.Paraules clau: Víctor Labrado, novel·la sense ficció, novel·la històrica, literatura catalana, valencià.Abstract: The Valencian writer Víctor Labrado (Sueca, 1956) has emerged as one of the great contemporary references in the field of the non-fiction novel in Catalan, a narrative subgenre that combines the fictional intention with real testimonial speeches. However, can Labrado’s capital books –peculiar, idiosyncratic and unusual– be considered also, without subterfuges or hints, historical novels? Broadly speaking: are his Spanish civil war plots grafted with interviews, generous doses of documentary journalism and almost absolute absence of fiction, historical novels? Its techniques and style are no impediment to say so, if we pay attention to the topoi agreed by the specialized critic. In fact, these novels become, in short, a living testimony of our past time: they rescue from oblivion the experiences and adventures of anonymous people, from the most universal particularity, and the Valencian reality of a past century stigmatized by the civil conflict of 1936 and the consequent dictatorship. Is that enough, however, to attribute this label to the rest of his literary works? Abstract:
The Catalan children's author Josep Vallverdú published two crossover stories based on Robinson Crusoe and Treasure Island. Les raons de Divendres (Friday's Reasons) (2003) gives an account of the episode of Crusoe and Friday told from the point of view of the servant, whereas El testament de John Silver (John Silver's Will) (2007) deals with the adventures of the pirate after searching for the treasure in the Caribbean. This paper demonstrates how Vallverdú uses his experience as a writer and translator to transform two canonical novels, through transposition into a contemporary context, in a way that facilitates an interaction between Catalan literature and English literature. In keeping with this exploration of literary tradition, the two sequels are also analysed as twenty-first century expressions of a Western literary tradition that abounds in adventure stories set at sea.

The massive emigration of people from villages, towns, and small cities to the metropolis of Barcelona in the 1960s has constituted the primary motivation for my writing. In the fol1owing article, I reflect on the various meanings that movement to the Catalan capital has for the characters in three of my novels: Pedra de tartera, Càmfora, and Carrer Bolívia. The city becomes a home and a dream; it becomes a site of anonymity full of challenges and promises; it becomes, in short, a test of adaptation. There is no real return to the point of departure, only the transformation of the individual citizen and of the urban body.

Numerous authors of comics and graphic novels have used the economic crisis in the Iberian Peninsula as a narrative frame for social criticism. Prominent amongst them is the Catalan cartoonist Aleix Saló, who burst onto the comics scene with his animated YouTube video Españistán, a book trailer for his graphic novel Españistán: Este país se va a la mierda [Españistán: This country is going to hell] (2011). This article shows how Saló offers a humorous and didactic portrait of the devastating effects of the economic crisis: he does this through multimodality (using specific shapes, colours, fonts and components of orality) and through creating ‘multimodal extensions’, intertextual relations between published books and book trailers. This analysis presents a case study of the multimodal techniques that authors use to shape and develop their work in the context of the powerful relationship between text and image in the digital age.

Two novels, Montserrat Roig’s El temps de les cireres (1976) and Luis Goytisolo’s Recuento (1973), provide numerous examples of how walking in the city can be a particularly significant experience, profoundly marked by history and politics. This article discusses the ways that Roig and Goytisolo guide their characters and readers into an urban jungle of words with a very precise purpose: the critical interpretation of space according to the values of the writer in the present. Proffering a quasi-archeological reading of a jumble of temporal traces scrawled on the walls of old buildings, Goytisolo’s narrator expresses, in a manner not unlike that of Roig’s characters, a complex mise en question of the past and the present. In Roig’s novel, what comes to the fore is the funereal-like theatricality of the old Ribera neighborhood, which functions not only as a space of habitation but also as a setting for cultural memory and the representation of Catalan history.

Resum: I risvolti sovranazionali riscontrati nei tre protagonisti dei romanzi del Quattrocento catalano (Jacob Xalabín, Curial e Tirant) consentono di procedere a un’analisi del Curial e Güelfa che ne sottolinea l’identità multipla e l’apertura culturale del processo di formazione del protagonista, nella sua ascesa economica e sociale. L’evoluzione del protagonista, grazie a un meccanismo psicologico, oggi riconosciuto come tale, consente il lieto fine del romanzo, diversamente da quanto avviene negli altri due, dove i protagonisti, Jacob e Tirant, rimangono sempre gli stessi. Grazie allo spostamento, al transfert, Curial non rimuove quello che lo minaccia, ma riesce a superarlo, se riguarda un altro individuo, e questo permette il suo successo finale, senza essere vittima d’impulsi interni inaccettabili. Paraules clau: Identità/alterità, multiplo/singolo, apertura/chiusura culturale, onore/disonore, ascesa/discesa economica e sociale, rimozione/spostamento. Abstract: The supranational implications found in the three protagonists of the novels in the “Catalan quattrocento” (Jacob Xalabín, Curial and Tirant) allow an analysis of Curial e Güelfa that underlines the multiple identity and cultural openness of the protagonist’s training process, in his economic and social rise. The evolution of the protagonist, thank to a psychological mechanism, now recognized as such, allows the happy ending of the novel, unlike what happens in the other two, where the protagonists, Jacob and Tirante, always remain the same. Thanks to the movement, to the transfert, Curial does not eliminate what threatens it, but manages to overcome it, if it is another individual, and this allows its final success, without being the victim of unacceptable internal impulses. Contrary to perceived wisdom, we explore the role of machine translation (MT) in assisting with the translation of literary texts, considering both its limitations and its potential. Our motivations to explore this subject are twofold, arising from: (1) recent research advances in MT, and (2) the recent emergence of the ebook, which together allow us for the first time to build literature-specific MT systems by training statistical MT models on novels and their professional translations. A key challenge in literary translation is that one needs to preserve not only the meaning (as in other domains such as technical translation) but also the reading experience, so a literary translator needs to carefully select from the possible translation options. We explore the role of translation options in literary translation, especially in the context of the relatedness of the languages involved. We take Camus’ L’Étranger in the original French language and provide qualitative and quantitative analyses for its translations into English (a less-related language) and Italian (more closely related). Unsurprisingly, the MT output for Italian seems more straightforward to be post-edited. We also show that the performance of MT has improved over the last two years for this particular book, and that the applicability of MT does not only depend on the text to be translated but also on the type of translation that we are trying to produce. We then translate a novel from Spanish-to-Catalan with a literature-specific MT system. We assess the potential of this approach by discussing the translation quality of several representative passages.

Resumen: Enrique de Villena (1384-1434), noble aficionado a las letras, autor bilingüe en catalán y castellano, residente algunos años (ca. 1416- 1429) de manera intermitente en la corte valenciana de Alfonso V de Aragón y Juan de Navarra, influyó en el concepto de literatura del autor de la novela caballeresca Curial e Güelfa (Enyego d’Àvalos?), escrita en catalán (Nápoles-Milán, c. 1445-1448) y relacionable con la corte italiana del Magnánimo. El Curial presenta conexiones intertextuales con la obra de Villena, además de hápax y neologismos compartidos. Su autor conoció, sin duda, Los dotze treballs d’Hèrcules (Valencia, 1417) y parodió errores mitográficos de la Eneida romanceada, glosada y moralizada por Villena (Valencia, 1427-1429), dos obras a las que alude implícitamente en la suya. Ambos escritores difundieron el ideal del vir scientificus Hércules (Coluccio Salutati) como alegoría del esfuerzo que los caballeros sçientíficos/scientífichs ponían en estudiar los clásicos greco-latinos para crecer en virtud. The Curial displays intertextual connections with Villena’s work, apart from shared hapaxes and neologisms. The author was aware of –undoubtedly– Los dotze treballs d’Hèrcules (Valencia, 1417) and parodied mythographic mistakes from the romanced, glossed and moralised Aeneid by Villena (Valencia, 1427-1429), two works that he alludes to implicitly in his own. Both writers spread the ideal of the vir scientificus Hercules (Coluccio Salutati) as an allegory of the effort the sçientíficos/scientífichs knights put on studying the Greek-Latin classics to grow up in virtue. Entre els italians, nombrosos estudiosos han remarcat el paper cabdal de Boccaccio, i en particular del Decameron, com a model d’escriptura i com a intermediari de la tradició clàssica, per a l’autor anònim català. En aquest treball oferim una mostra de la presència de la novella X.8 en el text català, tot resseguint ambdues narracions, i observant l’encaix en el nou context narratiu que duu a terme l’autor anònim del Curial. Això ens permet, a més, valorar la relació de la novel·la cavalleresca i la traducció catalana del Decameron de 1429.Paraules clau: Curial e Güelfa, Boccaccio, Decameron, novella X.8Abstract: The latest research on the Catalan chivalric novel Curial e Güelfa has highlighted unanimously the literary quality of the work and the richness of the literary culture of its author, in particular in relation to the classical and Italian writers. Este artículo se basa en los resultados obtenidos del análisis de los expedientes de censura de las novelas traducidas al catalán, publicadas a lo largo de los años sesenta, en el marco de la tesis doctoral «La censura franquista i la traducció catalana de narrativa als anys seixanta». Tras seleccionar las obras traducidas a lo largo de la década, hemos construido un corpus que nos ha permitido investigar de forma exhaustiva las repercusiones de la censura sobre la traducción catalana durante ese periodo. Mediante el examen de los informes conservados en el Archivo General de la Administración (AGA) y la lectura comparativa de los originales —o galeradas— y las versiones definitivas correspondientes, hemos reunido un conjunto de datos con el que pretendemos demostrar dicho control.

Este trabajo examina las características de las traducciones de las obras de Jules Verne al español y al catalán, especialmente su Voyage au centre de la Terre (1864). Las primeras traducciones de este relato al español se realizaron en 1867 y 1868. Se estudian aquí los rasgos lingüísticos de dichas versiones que se ajustan al concepto de “traducción” propio del siglo XIX. La primera traducción al catalán de una novela del autor es del año 1926 y la primera versión del Viatge es de 1959. La publicación en catalán entre 1910 y 1920 de algunos relatos inspirados claramente en Verne, escritos por autores catalanes, muestra que los lectores de Cataluña leían a Verne en español. El estudio indaga las circunstancias en las que se produce esta situación.

In this paper we provide a novel and unified formal analysis of the stress microvariation found in verb–enclitic groupings in Barcelona Catalan, with stress stability, in Formentera Catalan, with stress shift to the penultimate and the last syllable of the whole sequence, and in Mallorca and Menorca Catalan, with stress shift to the last syllable. We argue that stress shift in Formentera Catalan conforms directly to the unmarked pattern of nominal stress in Catalan, that is, a right-aligned moraic trochee, with the constraintAll-Feet-Rightundominated, leading to final and penultimate stress. In Barcelona Catalan, the effects of this constraint are inhibited by an anti-alignment constraint prohibiting the right edge of a foot from coinciding with the right edge of a clitic. In Mallorca and Menorca Catalan, stress shift is also understood as a strategy to meet the unmarked nominal stress pattern of Catalan, although in these dialects the anti-alignment constraint is also undominated, leading to catalexis, in this case a melodically empty mora, and thus to final stress.

Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah dokumentasi melalui teknik baca dan teknik catat. Sumber data pada penelitian ini adalah adalah novel Catatan Juang karya Fiersa Besari. Berdasarkan analisis data penelitian yang dilakukan peneliti, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat enam jenis presupposisi dengan jumlah data sebanyak 263 tuturan yang termasuk dalam presuposisi di dalam novel Catatan Juang karya Fiersa Besari. Jenis presuposisi yang ditemukan yaitu presuposisi eksistensial, presuposisi leksikal, presuposisi faktual, presuposisi, presuposisi non-faktual, dan presuposisi konter-faktual. Terdapat 73 tuturan presuposisi eksistensial, 42 tuturan presuposisi faktual, 97 tuturan presuposisi leksikal, 1o tuturan presuposisi non-faktual, 23 tuturan presuposisi struktura, dan 18 tuturan presuposisi konter-faktual dalam novel Catatan Juang karya Fiersa Besari.

<p>Como paso previo para la presentación del repertorio de los relatos recogidos y de los cuentos tipo catalogados en Aragón y La Rioja —en este último caso, a partir de la colaboración del autor en la clasificación de los cuentos recopilados y editados por el folclorista Javier Asensio en esta comunidad autónoma—, se propone una reflexión acerca del subgénero de los cuentos novela. Para ello se parte de la definición que Carme Oriol ofrece en su obra <em>Introducció a l’etnopoètica. Teoria i formes del folklore en la cultura catalana</em> y se tienen en cuenta las críticas a la etnopoética que Luis Beltrán expone en «Géneros y estéticas en la literatura tradicional», de las que se concluye que, junto a las características de los cuentos novela o cuentos de ingenio que señala Carme Oriol, deben considerarse también su carácter de género bajo, su naturaleza mixta serio-cómica y la naturaleza idílica de los relatos del conflicto familiar. This article suggests that over recent decades Catalan literary criticism has paid too little attention to the aesthetic attributes of Catalan literature and emphasised the social, political and cultural at the expense of discussions of narrative poetics. Through an analysis of Montserrat Roig’s metaphorical use of the city in her first novel Ramona, adéu, I put forward the view that the aesthetic features of Catalan literature need to be re-claimed. This article provides a critical analysis of the aesthetic importance of Roig’s representation of the city in her first novel and argues that she uses Barcelona as a critical tool through which to explore questions of both female emancipation and aesthetic freedom. Following a detailed discussion of Roig’s descriptions of how her female characters interact with particular urban spaces, I examine how Roig makes subtle shifts in her semantic register during these narrative accounts when her prose moves into the realm of the poetic. I conclude that this technique enables us to read her accounts of urban space as metaphors for aesthetic freedom and are inextricably linked to her wider concerns on the importance of liberating Catalan literature from the discourse of political nationalism.

Twelve-month-old bilingual and monolingual infants show comparable phonetic discrimination skills for vowels belonging to their native language/s. However, Catalan–Spanish bilingual toddlers, but not Catalan monolinguals, appear insensitive to a vowel mispronunciation in familiar words involving the Catalan–Specific /e/-/ɛ/ contrast. Here bilingual and monolingual toddlers were tested in a challenging minimal-pair word learning task involving that contrast (i.e., [bepi]-[bɛpi]). Both groups succeeded, suggesting that bilinguals can successfully use their phonetic categories to phonologically encode novel words. It is argued that bilinguals’ impoverished vowel representations in familiar words might be the result of experiential input factors (e.g., cognate words and mispronunciations due to accented speech).

The three local languages mentioned in the National Language Policy formulated in the Language Politics seminar organized by the Language Center (now the Agency for Language Development and Development) in 1999 function as a language symbols including a symbol of regional identity, and a symbol of regional pride; a mean of communication in the family and local communities, and a mean of supporting regional culture and as a supporter of regional literature and Indonesian literature. As a means of supporting the Indonesian language, regional languages have a dominant role in enriching the Indonesian vocabulary. This paper will describe the cultural vocabulary in the tradition of capturing the koteklema in Lamalera in the novel of "Suara Samudra, Catatan dari Lamalera", as one of the alternative of Indonesian vocabulary enrichment. The novel of "Suara Samudra, Catatan dari Lamalera", by Maria Matildis Banda, reveals a cliché theme often appears and is raised in Indonesian novels about the relationship of two lovers due to social status differences. The novel is interesting as it is written in a traditional village setting, tradition and culture of fishing and whaling in Lamalera. This novel is an ethnographic novel that presents the traditions and culture of Lamalera through the physical and cultural background of fishermen in Lamalera. Maria Matildis Banda conveys local color through literature. His language, diction, and power of speaking in a local dialect enrich the literary treasures of Indonesia. This condition is one of the reasons for the importance of 'adopting' the registers in the novel into the Indonesian vocabulary, so that Indonesian language can further develop itself in order to play a maximum role as a means of communication in various domains of the usage, as well as play an increasingly steady role as a language amplifier for an identity and character of the nation.

This study looks both at various factors and at a number of interre-lated individuals and groups, all of which played a role in determining the fate of these works. The analysis includes a look at the consequences of the inclusion of the author’s works on the Index Librorum Prohibitorum and at the effects of the Franco regime’s censorship. There is also a discussion of the feminist movement’s embrace of this author, the fact that her life and work have become the focus of tourist attractions, the publishing practices associated with her books and the main challenges involved in translating the works.

Aquest relat cavalleresc és un dels pocs títols que conformen el catàleg de la prosa impresa en català en l’època moderna, i és, per tant, força convenient fer una adequada catalogació de les edicions per tal de confegir un cens acurat que permeta estudiar l’obra i bastir-ne una edició crítica. Hem pogut establir un llistat d’onze edicions verificades pels bibliògrafs, de les quals només se’n conserven nou. La cronologia de les edicions és, a hores d’ara, aproximada, exceptuant-ne les que fan constar la data d’impressió a la portada: 1650, 1683 i 1908. Paraules clau: Pierres de Provença, edicions, català, segles XVII-XVIII Abstract: The anonymous novel Pierres de Provença has come to us from a French original written in the mid-fifteenth century through some of the Spanish and Catalan translations carried out since the beginning of the sixteenth century. Despite the little attention that it has received from most historians of literature, the adventures of the knight Pierres and the beautiful Magalona have had readers uninterruptedly up to the nineteenth century. This short chivalric story is one of the few works that make up the catalog of the Catalan prose of the modern period, and therefore it is quite convenient to make a thorough cataloguing of the editions made in order to establish an accurate census that allows to study the work and build up a critical edition. We have been able to establish a list of eleven editions verified by the bibliographers, of which only nine have been preserved. The chronology of most of the editions is, by now, just approximate, except those that have a specified date print on the cover: 1650, 1683 and 1908. The algorithm is a ‘no bit lost’ bijection, as it associates to each Prolog term a unique natural number and each natural number corresponds to a unique syntactically well-formed term.To avoid an exponential explosion resulting from bijections mapping term trees to natural numbers, we separate the symbol content and the syntactic skeleton of a term that we serialize compactly using a ranking algorithm for Catalan families.A novel algorithm for the generalized Cantor bijection between ${\mathbb{N}$ and ${\mathbb{N}$k is used in the process of assigning polynomially bounded Gödel numberings to various data objects involved in the translation.

The main objective of this work is to create an environmental vision of the Catalan economy based on various indicators. To do this, we started from the fundamental idea of obtaining new metrics to measure impacts on the economy. The methodology used is focused on the systematization of descriptive statistics and econometric review. In this sense, GDP and GDP per capita are valued as chrematistic units, and biophysical variables are incorporated. For the period 2000–2016, the figures for energy consumption, CO2 emissions, energy intensity of the economy and water consumption were collected. In addition, demographic evolution and the Gini index were also ordered as factors that contribute to explaining not only population trajectory but also some of the social factors. Greater technological efficiency in regard to environmental aspects is intuited as sensitive to the economic cycle. The study is novel in the panorama of the regional economy of Spain, by incorporating biophysical variables to the applied economic analysis.

AbstractThe writers focus on the analysis of notes procedures, that is, the translation procedure in translating Islamic terms in I Am Malala novel published in 2014and translated by Ingrid Dwijani Nimpoeno. They described notes procedures applied by Indonesian translator to translate the terms. They applied descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data based on Newmark’s procedure of notes. Besides, they utilize the mono lingual and bilingual dictionaries to support the analysis of the meaning in source and target language.The terms are divided into two categories: terms as knowledge and as worship. This reveals that nine terms translated by using notes within the text (one notes as an alternative to translated word, one notes as a participial group, one notes as an adjectival clause, one notes in brackets, two notes as a noun in apposition, three notes in parentheses); one term translated by using notes within the text (as an adjectival clause) and notes or glossary at the end of book; and third, one term translated by using notes at bottom of page (footnote) and notes or glossary at the end of book. Istilah keislaman dibagi dua kategori, yaitu istilah ilmu pengetahuan dan istilah ritual. Kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada sembilan terjemahan istilah yang diberi catatan dalam teks (satu catatan sebagai terjemahan alternatif, satu catatan sebagai kelompok bagian, satu catatan sebagai klausa ajektif, satu catatan dalam kurung, satu catatan sebagai kata benda oposisi, tiga catatan dalam dua garis kata sisipan); satu terjemahan istilah menggunkan catatan dalam teks sebagai klausa ajektif, dan terdapat catatan atau glosari di akhir buku. Ketiga, satu terjemahan istilah menggunakan catatan kaki dan catatan atau glosari di akhir buku. Dengan kata lain, prosedur pemberian catatan yang dominan adalah di dalam teks.

Oleh sebab itu, tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan pola bahasa generasi milenial pada novel tersebut dan beberapa faktor yang memengaruhi kemunculannya. Landasan teori yang digunakan meliputi alih kode, campur kode, dan interferensi. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel CHSI. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat alih kode, campur kode, dan interferensi. Alih kode terdiri atas alih kode ke dalam dan alih kode ke luar. Alih kode ke dalam yang ditemukan berupa alih kode bahasa Indonesia ke bahasa Ambon atau bahasa Jawa. Alih kode luar berupa alih kode bahasa Indonesia ke bahasa Inggris atau bahasa Arab. Campur kode terdiri atas tiga jenis yaitu campur kode ke dalam (bahasa Jawa dan Betawi), campur kode luar (bahasa Inggris dan Arab), dan campur kode campuran (bahasa Inggris, bahasa Arab, dan bahasa Jawa). Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan adanya interferensi pada tataran morfologi. Dilihat dari faktor yang memengaruhinya, alih kode dan campur kode terjadi karena adanya peralihan pokok pembicaraan, penggunaan ragam nonformal, tutur bahasa rendah, keterbatasan padanan kata, dan penggunaan istilah yang lebih populer. Sementara itu, faktor yang memengaruhi adanya interferensi adalah kebiasaan penggunaan bahasa ibu.Kata Kunci: pola, milenial, alih kode, campur kode, interferensiAbstract: This research examines about patterns or characteristics of the millennial generation language in the novel Catatan Hati Seorang Istri (CHSI) by Asma Nadia and things took. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to describe the millennial generation pattern language in the novel and some of the factors that affect its appearance. The cornerstone of the theory being used i.e. instead of code, mixed code, and interference. As for the methods used in this research was the qualitative descriptive method. The data obtained through the novel CHSI. The results of the research there are over code, mixed code, and interference. Instead the code is composed of over code in a language such as existence of Ambon and the Java language. Instead the code outside the English when it shows up and the Arabic language. So also in the mix of code consists of three types of mixed code in IE there are Javanese and Betawi, mix the code out there is the language of the United Kingdom and Arabs and mix the mixture contained code English, Arabic language, and the Java language. Research results also show the presence of interference on the morphological level. Then, the factors that affect the occurrence over the code and the mix of code among them; the transition of the staples of the talk, the use of colloquial language, said spectrum is low, the limitations of the matching word, and the more popular use of the term. Meanwhile, the factors that influence the presence of interference that is due to the terbawanya habits in the use of the mother tongue.

Therefore, it supposed to a woman or wife not to doubt in struggling the gender equality.

Artikel ini menggambarkan wacana seksualitas yang terdapat dalam novel trilogi Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk jilid Catatan Buat Emak karya Ahmad Tohari. Wacana tersebut dibedah dengan melihat peristiwa-peristiwa yang dialami para tokoh. Selain itu, wacana seksualitas juga dikaitkan dengan mitos yang berkembang di masyarakat Dukuh Paruk sebagai latar tempat novel. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa mitos berperan penting dalam pembentukan wacana seksualitas. Mitos disakralkan karena sejak ada telah disepakati dan diyakini oleh masyarakat setempat. Analisis ini juga menunjukkan bahwa mitos bergantung pada lokasi dan kondisi sehingga daerah satu dengan daerah lain memiliki mitos berbeda. Mitos ronggeng sebagai ikon kesuburan dan kemakmuran masyarakat Dukuh Paruk menyebabkan Srintil, tokoh utama novel ini harus melakukan ritual-ritual khusus. Ritual-ritual inilah yang kemudian menjadi salah satu yang saya analisis dalam bingkai wacana seksualitas.Abstract:This paper aims at describing sexuality discourse in Catatan Buat Emak as a part of the trilogy of Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk written by Ahmad Tohari. The discourse was observed by notic- ing the events experienced by characters in the novel. In addition, it is connected to the myths developed in the community of Dukuh Paruk where the story happened. It shows that the myth plays as an important role in the formation of the discourse. Myths are often sacred because they have always been agreed and believed by the local people. This analysis also suggests that the myth depends on the location and condition so that it is different in one areas from others . The myth of Ronggeng as an icon of fertility and prosperity of the Dukuh Paruk makes Srintil, the main character in the novel, has to do special rituals. These rituals are kinds of sexuality discourse issues that is put into the analysis.

Abstract Phraseography, understood as the discipline that deals with phraseological units in general or specialized dictionaries of one or more languages, is still an area to be discovered, especially in bilingual contexts. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to propose an electronic lexicographical work of phraseology in Spanish‑Catalan, given that currently there is no such dictionary for the two mentioned languages. Based on the previous studies on phraseology and electronic phraseology, we reflect on the characteristics that these works should contain, and we examined the dictionaries already published in this format in the Hispanic context. Taking into account the above, the study that follows will focus on the proposal of a dictionary that combines the most significant novelties in both current lexicography and computational linguistics, in order to create a work that collects efficiently, novel and dynamic, the information corresponding to the phraseological units of the two languages concerned here. In short, the contribution of this article aims to fill a gap in the field of lexicography, in general, and bilingual phraseography, in particular.

Abstract This study aims to describe the way out of your comfort zone in the style by Suar character in the novel Catatan Juang by Fiersa Besari which is a representation of real life. Focus of the study is emphasized on the character of Suar when she finally decides to get out of the comfort zone that shackles of her. To study the character Suar in the novel Catatan Juang, this study used a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis techniques. This qualitative descriptive method is used with the intention of producing a description in the form of words through observed research. The result of research can be concluded that Suar managed to get away from all the routines that she had been complaining about in order to achieve her dream of becoming a film maker. Her struggle ia not easy, but she kept trying hard and finally proved that stepping out of your comfort zone isn’t a bad thing. This is inseparable from the encouragement and influence of motivational words in a book that she accidentally found on public transportion, with title “Catatan Juang” owned by Juang Astrajingga.

Tackling violence against women in the theatre is often a controversial matter. To identify the ethical risks that victim representation may entail, we conduct a comparative analysis of two works about Ciudad Juárez’s feminicides staged in Barcelona: 2666 (2007), an adaptation of Roberto Bolaño’s novel directed by Àlex Rigola, and House of Strength (2011) by Angélica Liddell. This article argues that while Rigola reduces victims to mere sexual objects with no narrative of their own, Liddell places the voice and resilience of Mexicans in the foreground and represents their bodies respectfully. Adriana Nicolau is completing her doctoral studies on ‘Feminisms in contemporary Catalan theatre’ at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in Barcelona. Her publications include articles for Feminismo/s. Teresa Iribarren is an assistant professor at UOC, where she is the Director of the Catalan Literature, Publishing, and Society research group. Her current research focuses on narratives of violence and the promotion of human rights in literature.

Following the retreat to France of half a million Spaniards in the winter of ’38/39 and as a result of the Nazi occupation, 10,000-15,000 Spaniards were deported to concentration camps. Among them was the writer Joaquim Amat-Piniella (1913-1974). His novel K.L. Reich, whose title alludes to the stamp impressed on all objects within the Nazi Reich’s concentration camps, creates a fictional world that reflects the realities within Mauthausen. That author writes in a draft (without date), that with this story his wish was not to focus on the horrors, but rather to document (“manar un record”), and to relate the historical catastrophes of “cruelty, misery, suffering, but also hope.” His poetic work Les llunyanies (The Far Away Lands) also reveals what Amat denoted as his “white hour,” an awakening of conscience and consciousness, the insistence on what is human and humane precisely because he was able to endure four and a half years of brutality. In addition to his novel and poetry, Amat-Piniella’s political efforts following his liberation promoted the reconciliarion that resulted from a sense of justice. With his poetry, this native of Manresa expressed the gamut of his affective responses to Mauthausen. With K.L. Reich, Amat-Piniella gives voice to the Republicans whose exile led to a concentrationary sentence. With his activism, he did everything possible to vindicate the ex-prisoners and obtain for them their due “indemnización” (compensatory damages) and thus overcome the obstacles imposed by the repressive forces. In spite of numerous hurdles, Amat was triumphant.

In this paper we propose a new hypothesis for the formal analysis of cross-linguistic influence, the Vulnerability Hypothesis (VH), with the support of data from subject personal pronoun use in Spanish and Catalan in Minorca, and contrast it to the Interface Hypothesis (IH). The VH establishes a categorical–variable continuum of permeability, that is, structures that show variable distributions are permeable while those that exhibit categorical distributions are not. To test the predictions of the VH, Spanish language samples were collected from 12 monolingual Spanish speakers, 11 Spanish-dominant bilinguals, and 12 Catalan-dominant bilinguals, and Catalan language samples from 12 Catalan-dominant speakers. Following a variationist comparative analysis, 4,466 first person singular (1sg) and 1,291 third person singular (3sg) tokens were coded for speech connectivity, verb form ambiguity, and semantic verb type. The language-external variable included in the analysis was language group (Spanish monolinguals, Spanish-dominant bilinguals, Catalan-dominant bilinguals, and Catalan controls). Results indicated that speech connectivity is the highest ranked variable in the Spanish control group (most categorical variable), while ambiguity and verb type are ranked lower, with only ambiguity reaching significance. The VH would, therefore, predict bilinguals would be similar to monolinguals in the most categorical variables, in this case, speech connectivity. This is in contrast to the IH, which would predict bilinguals would exhibit difficulty with the pragmatically driven distributions (e.g. speech connectivity), while they would show no contact effects or lesser effects with distributions at the lexico-semantic interface with syntax (e.g. verb form ambiguity and verb type). The prediction of the VH bears out in our data. Bilinguals do not differ with respect to speech connectivity. Ambiguity, on the other hand, is no longer significant in the bilingual groups and verb type reaches significance with 1sg (and not with 3sg) subjects. These results are discussed, redefining the concepts of convergence and simplification from language contact research to adapt to the variationist analysis used. Simplification is specified as the reduction of lower ranked predicting variables, while convergence is defined as an increase in parallels across languages with respect to the variables that are significant, their effect size (variable ranking), and the direction of effects (constraint ranking). Regarding language group, it was not returned as significant in 1sg data. Thus, the groups did not differ in their rates of overt pronominal expression. Differences, however, emerged across groups in the 3sg data, where bilinguals used significantly more overt pronominal subjects than monolinguals do. This paper contributes to current discussions in the fields of language contact, second language acquisition, and bilingualism, introducing a new hypothesis and contrasting it with the IH. In addition, it contributes to variationist approaches by examining a novel community of bilingual speakers.

This study aims to describe the temperament of characters in the Fighting Notes novel by using Ludwig Klages's personality theory. The focus of this research is on the temperament of the characters contained in the Note Juang by Fiersa Besari. Tempramen is a trait that a person has in him when he will do something, Klages divides the temprament into two parts, namely sangraminis tempraments and pleghmatic tempraments. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods which means a research method that does not use numbers or calculations, this qualitative approach is used with the aim of producing word form descriptions from research that has been observed, in addition this study uses library techniques to get data on research observed. Data analysis in this study used hermeutic analysis with several stages, namely reading objects, marking data found on objects, coding data and analyzing all data with Ludwig Klages's personality theory. The results of this research in the Notes Fighting can be concluded that there are sangunis and pleghmatis tempraments but are inclined to sangunis tempraments that are experienced by many Suar figures.

Catalase is an important oxidative stress protective enzyme. We have shown in Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae that catalase has atypical regulation in response to stresses and growth conditions. The superoxide generators paraquat and menadione at subinhibitory concentrations for growth were potent inducers (8.3 and 10.4 fold, respectively) of the catalase of X. oryzae pv. oryzae. In contrast, H2O2 under all conditions tested was a poor inducer of catalase. It gave a maximum induction level of 2.4 fold, while ascorbate produced an intermediate level of induction (4.5 fold). Unexpectedly, methyl methanesulphonate, a DNA methylating agent and mutagen, was a potent inducer of catalase (8 fold). Catalase induction required de novo synthesis of the enzyme and aerobic growth but it was independent of growth phase. Catalase induction by superoxide generators and methyl methanesulphonate was due to increasing synthesis of the 80 000 Da monofunctional catalase. Similar patterns of catalase induction by various agents were observed in all Xanthomonas strains tested, except that paraquat did not induce catalase in the strains with high paraquat resistance. The data illustrate novel aspects of catalase regulation in Xanthomonas strains that differ from that in other microbes. This may have important consequences for plant–microbe interactions.Key words: oxidative stress response, catalase regulation, phytopathogen.
