In Catalan dialectology, the presence of the central vowel schwa is considered a key feature that distinguishes Eastern Catalan from the Western Catalan. The article deals with the question to what extent Western Catalan's Lleida dialect, under the influence of Barcelona's Eastern Catalan prestige variety, nevertheless begins to integrate this sound, which is actually foreign there. An unresolved question remains whether spiral arms in galaxies enhance the efficiency of large-scale star formation. The paper discusses preliminary results of a study of the specific star formation rate in spiral arms and interarm space. A large sample of galaxies from the SDSS MaNGA catalog is studied with data from GalaxyZoo:3D used. The results obtained do not contradict the interpretation supported by other authors that gas in spiral arms is transformed into stars with the same efficiency as in the disk.
