Matching algorithms automatically discover semantic relations between two autonomously developed conceptual representations of two overlapping domains. Typical examples of such conceptualisations are electronic market catalogues (e.g., unspsc and eCl@ss) and Web directories (e.g., google and yahoo). The objective of this paper is the description of a use case in which the matching algorithm CtxMatch, developed at ITC-IRST and the University of Trento, has been used to re-classify into the Universal Standard Products and Services Classification (unspsc) the catalogue of office equipment and acc

Astronomy is a fertile environment with collaborations leading to the elaboration of disciplinary standards. Deploying standards in data centers can be beneficial for long term preservation and it puts the discipline in the open data era. VizieR [1] is the CDS service dedicated to catalogues. It gathers data and tables, but also associated data like spectra or images coming from published papers or collaborations with various agencies. VizieR gives access to data through services to the astronomical community and preserves data for the long term. Several years ago, it became clear that it was

The study conducts a catalogue analysis that zooms in on the small market of Flanders (Belgium), and the content strategies of the eight most popular local and US-based players in the market. Through the comparative analysis, we investigate three main directions. First, we analyse the similarities and differences in the catalogue offerings of US and local video-on-demand (VoD) services. Second, we delve into the strategies of local players as they compete with US streamers and other legacy players. Third, we analyse the share and the characteristics of the Flemish titles on offer. This study aimed to develop a Competency Catalogue for Category B Water Utility Services in the Bicol Region in 2017. It assessed staffing patterns and competency levels of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), formulated a unified competency dictionary, and proposed an enhanced Merit Selection Plan (MSP). Using a mixed-methods design and purposive sampling, the research found that Category B water districts conform to the standard structures of the Revised LWD MaCRO. Core competencies of key informants were rated advanced (mean = 2.55), while leadership and management competencies were intermediate

AbstractBinary and multiple stars have long provided an effective method of testing stellar formation and evolution theories. In particular, wide binary systems with separations > 20,000 au are particularly challenging as their physical separations are beyond the typical size of a collapsing cloud core (5,000 - 10,000 au). We present here a preliminary work in which we make use of the TGAS catalogue and Virtual Observatory tools and services (Aladin, TOPCAT, STILTS, VOSA, VizieR) to identify binary and multiple star candidate systems. Recommendations based on the most popular products in a catalogue is a common technique when information about users is scarce or absent. In this paper we explore different ways to measure popularity in the music domain; more specifically, we define four indices based on three social music services and on web clicks. Our study shows, first, that for most of the indices the popularity is a rather stable signal, since it barely changes over time; and second, that the ranking of popular artists is heavily dependent on the actual index used to measure the artist's popularity.
