In recent years the phrase nano has become popular in several fields. It is a catch phrase for obtaining research funding, a hot topic for holding seminars and symposia. The popularity can be gauged from the fact that several consumer products, which include a car,use the phrase nano. However, promising and hoping for good results is one thing and achieving them is another. Several projects failed as these promises could not be kept and hopes dashed.

Abstract Gerard Manley Hopkins distinguished and approved “sequences of feeling and phrase” in his friend Robert Bridges’s sonnets. A close reading of “The Windhover” reveals Hopkins’s own use of these sequences with a remarkable shift between the octave, developed by a series of adverbial and adjectival participial and prepositional phrases, and the sestet which proceeds as a series of declarative-exclamatory statements. The first half of the sonnet follows the kestrel’s flight as it “hovers” (hence its name) into a fixed position either by beating its wings (“hurl”) or by sitting still (“gli

Using other theories of political conflict and a case study of the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1992, this article shows that political discourse would be better served if gridlock was not used as an analogy for perceived legislative troubles.

When considering luxury as a state of great comfort founded on excess, has the time come to shift our interpretation, taking into consideration contemporary notions of luxury and our concerns for the preservation of our natural resources? Has luxury become a catch-all phrase whose meaning is no longer relevant? Taking into account the historical journey that brought us to this point in time and space, what could luxury become that enables a new voyage of discovery, one where the destination is unknown, undefined and constantly changing to reflect the state of space we now occupy? This essay argues that contemporary conceptions of “calling” do not properly reckon with the concept’s biblical and historical foundations. In popular culture, where celebrities and social media influencers wield power, religious language is often extracted from faith traditions without regard for the tradition’s identity or communal nature. Calling, in this manner, has become a cultural catch-phrase devoid of vocational meaning. For many young, American Christians, including those taught by the authors, calling primarily bears a psychosocial meaning: calling signifies personal or economic ful

Abstract: As is the case with so many first drafts, some of Beckett's manuscripts still contain gaps: zones in the text that are either left completely blank, or are otherwise indicated to be filled in at a later stage in the writing process. Such gaps are interesting milestones for any genetic critic, because they may indicate a hesitation on the author’s part during the writing process: a name not yet decided on, a word or phrase that needs fine-tuning, etc. In Beckett’s case, these gaps are especially significant, because they feature so prominently in his published works as well: from the

In theory, the main factors of economic growth are labor and capital. The importance of the structural characteristic of the economic system is not denied by any economist, but this factor is usually not taken into account in models using homogeneous macro-production functions. Soviet economic growth is poorly described with their help, so researchers, as a rule, adjust statistics "to the model". The purpose of the work is to analyze Soviet growth as a structural transformation and deepening of the concepts of catch-up development and the second industrial revolution. The population explosion has lead to a markedly increased exploitation of our natural environment, hence the expression „sustainable development“ has become a catch phrase. In a historical perspective ecological problems recently became acute and this is why it is necessary to act quickly. It is obvious that we have to pay extreme attention to how we treat our environment and our sources. This necessarily will be reflected in the actions of the lawmakers in the future, and for the building industry the results will be that the authorities will enforce new law and regulations with direct conseq

These observations highlight the difficulties for artists to be able to express their own growth and development as their artist personas become ‘fixed’.
