The use of diet to enhance reproduction is theoretically a low-cost and low-input method that will co-align with reproductive technologies' beneficiary effects. Ideally, with improved nutrition intervention, these technologies will become more feasible and practical to producers. The first study examines the diet nutrient composition and its relative interactions on days to ovulation postpartum, overall pregnancy rates, and pregnancy at first AI in cattle. Cattle operations in the Southeastern United States are primarily cow-calf and stocker based and rely heavily on forage. As such, research regarding supplementation strategies that are specific to both the forage cultivars and management strategies that are common in the region are necessary for accurate nutritional recommendations. Additionally, further research is necessary to develop solutions to cope with the negative effects of fescue toxicosis that are common in the region. Therefore, the objectives of this dissertation are to examine supplementation strategies specific to growing cattle

The overall objective of this thesis was to assess the effect of feed area design including feeding space availability, barrier type and stocking density, on the feeding behaviour of dairy cows. Feed intake in dairy cows is directly related to milk production, thus a good food supply is extremely important to the modern, high producing dairy cow. Intake is critical for improving milk production, health, body condition and the welfare of the animals. Feeding designs can have a major effect on behaviour and feed intake, therefore it is an important consideration when housing cattle and other liv
